Almost all hairpieces with elf ears are from LotR, and thus have fleshie ears. I'm not a huge fan of elves regardless, though it would be nice for a druid or ranger.

There's also nothing great for my favorite race, Dragonborn. There's one 3rd party company that makes an ok head, I got a couple of them a few years back at brickfair, but they're only mediocre. Plus they only come in dark red, I think.

I was thinking try and heresy paint GotG's Mantis' horns red for a Tiefling? I really wish they would release the faun hairpiece with red ears.
>>
>>6228380
>Almost all hairpieces with elf ears are from LotR
You know they have an entire theme of elves, right? They do still have fleshie ears. As for dragonborn, you might look at some of the chima masks. The crocs are pretty reptilian and even the head prints looks decent for a reptile-man thing.

One of reasons of why your videos are not popular is thumbnails.
When you see them its a neverending clusterfuck of grey baseplates and awful colors.

Try to find 1 good picture of a set you going to review and edit that picture putting 1 normal non screaming line excplaining the video.
Right now its super confusing.
There are Green Red and Blue titles with baseplates and random objects.
People dont really want to click on such stuff.

Look at any popular channel. It's clearly visible what is going on.
Also people are not that stupid - sometimes even title is not that needed on a Thumbnail. Just a clear picture of a set is enough

I kinda liked the rugged/pragmatic look of the 60046 Helicopter surveillance set. It is white and blue for the body though, wich isn't all that militaristic (although lime isn't too in my opinion) It only has one large fan on the body and just a tail stabiliser thingy. But it comes with six large blades on the big one, so maybe you can make two large chinook style 3-bladed ones.

I don't know how large your collection is and if you will require secondary parts anyway to finish it, becauset then i would just look at the instructions of both for ideas for a nice model and then try looking through bricklink for what colours exist and how to acquire them as cheap as possible.
>>
>>6228670
I actually disagree with this. Seeing a clipart tier thumbnail that is obviously mspainted together from existing promotional material doesn't communicate the nature and quality of said video. For all i know it is some attentionhungry dickwad pointing a camera at himself whilst yelling funny noises for that pewdipie appeal.
A picture that is representative of what you will actually be watching is way more likely for me to visit it. (like a camera pointing at the object that is going to be talked about.)

"A bullet point review of an Elves set from someone who's never brought a Friends or Elves set before".

Pros and cons in no particular order.
>Cute dragon
>Terrible leg & foot articulation (forwards and backwards only)
>Some beautifully printed pieces like the details around the dragons eyes, and the 1x1 round plate with the loominadi eye mark on it
>Minidolls still aren't really my thing, the spindly arms and huge head really throw me off
>That said, I won't deny that he *looks* really good, the arm tattoo and face prints especially
>The dual colored cape (red on one side purple on the other) looks fucking great. It's a shame it's incompatible with normal minifigs.
>If the cape was a bit longer and bley instead of purple it would look perfect on the most recent General Grievous minifig
>Cute dragon
>The woodland critters and goblin lookin thing are gonna give me nightmares for a few weeks
>Comes with a metric shit-load of small useful parts, like the 1x1 rounded plate with handle, handeled bar holders, and a couple of those new 1x1 1/4 circle tiles
>The primary color that the set comes in (yelloish green acording to bl) is really fucking obscure and there are very few molds that use this color at all
>Only 4 stickers, none of which are really necessary
>Lastly, but certainly most importantly, the dragon is exceptionally cute

9/10 would recommend. Go buy yourself a cute dragon.
>>
>>6228781
Cool man. Lego has produced quite a few that fit your description to some degree. So i would reccommend googling around a bit.

>>6228725
What i was saying is that with these thumbnails i atleast know what i'm in for. I wasn't saying the other anons thumbnails were the pinnacle of quality in the arts of the thumbnail, but they do their job for the most part.
The third one with the green car is something i would watch based on the thumbnail because i know the video will show some relatively high quality closeups. If the title of the video explains that he will do a review and show the build then i have all the information i need to consider wasting my time on it.
I agree a more clear thumbnail and font would do wonders to the other examples you posted.
The second one would help if it was just a shot of either the set in it's totallity or just the bag.
The overlay text of the first and last one obscure the packaging to the point where you can't make out what it's supposed to be at a glance.
I would also advice the anon for being more consistent about your thumbnails, do a picture of the box or the built up set. Preferably in the same size and angle, up close enough to make out what it is, but leaving room for optional text that doesn't obscure the box/set.

Giant red arrows and circles make me scream inside.
>>
>>6228663
>>6228670
I can probably work with a lot of what you have said. What should I be putting for blind bag like videos?

>>6228672
Most of the speed builds do have stock-like music or just the continuous background music. I did seem to miss that one. Do people like watching speed builds? I've considered putting them as another video. If people wanted to see the build they could.

>>6228715
>>6228720
I understand both sides of this, but I'm not sure exactly where to stand here. I'll try some different things on some of the next videos.

>>6228725
>>6228750
On the bright side, I think I can work on getting better at thumbnails. We'll just have to see.

>>6228813
I can more than likely make both of you guys happy. Both of you would like less bright text. That's very reasonable. Like I asked above, what kind of thumbnails should blind bag type stuff have?

I do appreciate you guys giving suggestions. I don't really have many people to bounce ideas off of, so I've kinda just been doing whatever and it's mostly been working. I'll give the stuff you all mentioned a shot. If you have anything else to add, feel free to message me on youtube or google+ or whatever. I'd also be up to make videos with you guys. Thanks again.
>>
>>6228836
>what kind of thumbnails should blind bag type stuff have
A clear picture of the packaging is enough if you are just going to blindly open them and see what happens to be inside.
If it's a video that goes through a collection of all the available things in that blindbag series, a picture of both the packaging and the entire collection neatly arranged side by side communicates that better.

Optional text to explain what the video does if it doesn't obscure the picture too much to limit its readability. (personally the title of a video is often enough for me)
>>
Is VIP worth it despite paying retail price?
>>
>>6228871
Depends, really, and there are ways to maximize both acquisition of and use out of VIP points. I'm sure others can go into much better detail, but typically save up and buy during double points and try to save your VIP rewards for when you're getting free shipping, whether because you're buying enough to qualify for it or they're running a free-shipping event.

Listen, the only thing you buy from S@H is the exclusive stuff, preferably while they have an unique minifigure bonus that you want.

Nexo Knights in the other hand...extremely disappointed. Its very expensive in terms of what you get. It costs like 2 Friends bags or a small Lego set while literally just being a Merlock stand.
However im not going to buy the set that has this Merlock 2.0. print so...whatever. But man...what a total ripoff.

The dots are different per figure, but the problem with it now is that they're no longer consistent across the board.

As an example: a toy store might get two or three boxes of minifigs delivered. The dot patterns in Box A correspond to specific minifigs, but Box B and C will have different dot patterns for the same minifigs.

It seems like it'd be worth it to buy modulars and such during double points times, because you won't really find those sets on significant sales
>>
>>6228871

Well, if you already shop at a LEGO store, or S@H, and with any frequency, then there's really no reason NOT to do it.

LEGO stores and the site don't really tend to have many clearance sales or anything, other than when a line or a wave is at the ass-end of its run and about to be retired, then they mark it down. But usually, other store still have better mark downs.

However, they also tend to get sets earlier, and some sets are exclusive to LEGO stores and the site, and VIP members get access to certain sets some two weeks early sometimes.

The way I see it is, if you buy a lot of really big sets like Modulars, or anything like that those sets never go on sale, and they're not really sold too many other places, so the points can add up fast. Especially with double VIP.

Its really not worth going out of your way for if you only buy smaller-medium sized sets, though and you're already just picking them up at Target or Walmart or Amazon or some other retailer.

Yeah, the real issue with the Bump Codes is that you have different SERIES of Codes within a particular run of Blind Bags, and people aren't listing the particular series their Bump Codes are coming from.

There was a similar issue for the Halo Mega Bloks Blind Bags, but since they print a full serial identification number on each figures' bag, it was easier to figure out when different series were getting mixed up.

Among D&D nerds, dragons have two arms, two legs, and two wings, all separate limbs. Wyverns have legs, but if they have hands the hands are part of the wing, like a bat.

Do people make sealed LEGO investments like in Magic The Gathering? I mean, people who buy a bunch of LEGOs, keep them sealed and then resell years later
>>
>>6230118
yeah, though I don't know the details

I hear big sets like modulars offer some good returns, going up in price drastically right after they retire.
>>
>>6230118
Yeah all the time. There are hundreds of thousands of sealed old lego sets for sale on Bricklink.
>>
>>6230118
I recently bought a few sets that were discounted at 50% off. I opened a couple to build and the rest I put away sealed. I recently came back from my dark ages 10+ years ago when I found my old stash packed away. I looked on eBay and found some of my older sealed sets were worth selling. All my sets HAD increased in value. Some more than others.

So I sold some and with the $$ and bought about 40 pounds off Craigslist to play with.

Today's sets??? The Creator line is doubling in value once a set retires. I may just invest in one or two soon.

But it is so damn tempting to open and build!

I'm a casual. I'm interested in keeping the box for collection, but ever since I saw the Barracuda be elevated to a legend I wondered if it was worth to grab a couple of new sets and sit on them.

Another simple (weird) example: the Batman Movie 70902 and the 70906. The prices should've been going down but I'm seeing those going up from the initial retail release.

I wonder if I should buy an extra to keep sealed and resell in 5 or 10 years

This one makes sense to me. Between this and the Joker balloon escape you can get Joker, Batman, Batgirl, and Robin in the cheapest sets. Frankly I'm glad they did it this time around. Maybe it was being merciful to parents after the last movie to get characters like Benny you had to buy some of the expensive ass sets, at least until the couch came out like a year later. Then even later Dimensions.

Maybe the Lowrider is also to get Harley Quinn. Hard to say since she's also in the CMFs.

The Lowrider is a smooth design overwall and it comes with 3 nice figures.

70902 has great figure value considering the price. The problem is: why something released at $19 is now $25 in some places?

Where's the drop to $15? The whole Batman set is new. They're still making it. It's not retired. Why the increase?

Another thing: I think the LEGO Movie sets will be nice collecting pieced. I'm not talking about investment prices, I'm talking about how it'll go down as one of the beloved sets of an era, since both movies did good.

>Where's the drop to $15? The whole Batman set is new. They're still making it. It's not retired. Why the increase?
Demand? Somehow not out in all places? One of my local stores had everything set to a really shitty clearance, like a few bucks off each set so nothing was really moving, and they never got the Batman movie sets on the shelf. Hell, they still might not. It's a shame, really, because I had my eye on some of the creator buildings to go cheaper. One is nice, sure, but not much. But if you have two or three? Sure you could make each of the buildings offered, but why not see what you can make if you combine them all?

Idk man. Felt a bit too similar to agents and other themes I'd seen before, but in brighter blue, so it was pretty boring to me. I liked the Mars Mission human side vehicles a lot more, had creative stuff like the Claw-Tank and the mobile mining base walkers.
>>
>>6230228
>Galaxy squad. That's the one with bugs right?
Yeah. It was kind of ADU 2.0 but had some decent shit, even a couple of mechs. Both have gotten a bit of love from the CMFs. Alien Conquest got an alien queen, the Galaxy Squad got an upgrade with the Galaxy Troopers. Even arguably the trend in new robots may have stemmed from what was made in Galaxy Squad. Still love that Blacktron bot regardless where he came from.
>>
>>6230228
Agents and Alpha Team and the like were during my dark ages, so I never noticed similarities. You're right though, now that I think about it.

And neither of the Mars themes seemed cool to me at all, so I was very stoked about alien conquest for a space theme.
>>
>>6230177
Things like batman are always niche. You wouldn't keep minor jack stone boxes, or the last series of aqua radiers.
>>
>>6230243
Ah I see, googled it and that's much better especially the droids, although the alien vehicles are much more interesting than most of the human ones still. I love those bug heads, and all the translucent eyes on the bigger bugs.
>>6230246
Eh, the Mars Mission theme was one of the few space themes where I preferred the human vehicles and such to the aliens, as the aliens were some of the worst alien minifigs to come out. Conquest had a nice "movie alien" feel for the aliens at least, despite the samey human stuff. Lego really got on a kick towards stuff like that there.

I still a number of the figs still intact.

>>6230147
It's hard to say. Lego is producing more sets these days I think. The Batman sets of current might take a real long time before increasing in any real value (if ever). Again, I have not seen anything do what the modular creator series have done. I've never seen an unopened set sell for less though.
>>
>>6230285
I think for some it is NOT an idea of "more cash than sense,"

Especially since now I am in difficult times due to family, I wish I had the boxes of crappy sets from my childhood. Realistically or not, they are lego history and are therefore worth more to any collector.

Lego has been a major player in terms of value. This toy company was worth 7% of google.

The mosquito man in that one is fun, but damn are those antenna easy to lose. As in I popped them back out so I wouldn't lose them and then promptly forgot where I put them. Oh well, any excuse to dig through my Lego bins.

This build isn't so bad, gotta like the mini-mech it poops out that and the primary control room opens up to shit out a little scooter. I recall the various teams on Galaxy Squad had specializations, apparently Team Green's skillset is breaking up and into smaller components and running.

Speaking of the teams, I think only Blue and Orange had two people alongside their droid. The others were just a single dude and his robot sidekick. Kind of a shitty team, really.

I thought this was actually a really cool set. I mean, so was the big orange team ship, but this one was great.

>Bulky little APV-type vehicle
>Turret on the back
>Surprise! Turret is actually a mech
>Front opens to reveal a little rover
>The little hovercraft from the Crater Creeper set also fits in the front in place of the rover
>Sciency station in the back once you take the mech out.

Agreed. I've actually have most of Galaxy Squad collected, though the blue dudes are still in the original box. I'm only missing the red guy and his robot, which is a shame since his robot is admittedly the coolest. That weird gecko thing it's got going on. I plan on buying them relatively soon just to get the rest.

It's kind of interesting, really. It's tempting to see the Galaxy Squad as the ADU upgraded and ready to take the fight into space. Probably because the blue color suits and helmet are the same. However there IS a direct link between Galaxy Squad and Ultra Agents as Solomon Blaze of Blue Team appears as an older man in Ultra Agents. I guess they defeated the buggoids and returned to Earth. Unless the space version is Solomon Blaze Jr.? A clone?

The first thing i thought when those shitty ed hardy tees with shimmery prints became a thing was that it would now be possible to make a red spyrius droid shirt.

the Green Creative Box is like five bucks.

Granted, the eyes and 6x white cone are probably less.
But then you'll end up buying 20 bux worth of parts to make shipping worth it.
>>
>>6231204
I don't really need any new shirts now, but maybe i'll try to find a nice secondhand one to try it out on (i have two basic shirts i wear that i think i'd rather keep monochrome). I know it is possible to purposefully implement "wear" in a print so i wanted to do that too to simulate shoveling through a giant tub.
ftw doing a fashion course right now in uni but considering doing custom LEGO apparell
>>6231213
Kind of on the fence too. I literally never use lime green, but i'll put them on a wanted list just in case.

>>
>>6231239
Also LDD is free so I don't know why you can't just go in yourself
>>
>>6231266
Yes i've been doing that for a while now too. Also lots of different wanted lists for seperate projects so you can axe one off if the parts for it aren't handy to combine with the parts of other projects.
I really don't make bricklink orders all that often, but when i do? I always binge on the printed parts. Decorated bricks are a hell of a drug.

>>6231229
>fuck, now i want a blue (or red, yellow, black, white, whatever) T-shirt with a wore out Classic space logo on it.
I've seen people wear that actually, but they tend to make the logo way too big and too centred for it to look good.
Did you make that drawing? Always fun to see people do that here, haven't done it in a while.
