The shaping of the Porsche is so unwelcoming to lego, man
I think that the piece you have for the top is too thick, is there anything thinner?
And have you tried putting that top on the other way round, since the real car has it going upwards almost to the top of the windscreen?

I have tried both of those things, unfortunately. Using a 2x4 flat tile means the minifig hits his head and can't sit down, because the car is much lower than the Speed Champions build. Putting the roof panel on front to back looks a little weird too.

On an unrelated note, I updated the front end of my F40.

The height of the Speed Champions line is probably the thing I like least about the theme, so it's been my primary goal to shave the cars down to size. Here's the 930 next to the stock GT3 and a minifig for comparison so you can see what I mean. In real life a 911 is like four feet tall, but at Speed Champions scale it's about seven.

Put a 1x2 jumper on the top and flip the assembly. The jumper's stud should fit in that technic hole. The downside is the new top will be a bottom.

Yeah, that's a good fix but now it has the underside problem. Lego doesn't make a 1x2 tile with studs on bottom yet, do they? I have a 2x2 printed tile with studs on bottom that I got in the Exo-Suit.

>>6130015
I have a couple, but I already tried one and it doesn't look as good as you'd think.

considering the quality of the bricks used for it, I'd say having it fall off under a stiff breeze fits the theme nicely

I never watched cartoon series.
did jestro actually turned into that weird electric-gargoyle version now?

If i was a kid and watched that show this could be a major turn-down for me. Because i liked how original Jestro looked like, probably would have his minifig and liked it.

And now out of the sudden there is another Jestro and i should forget the original one. This kind of sucks.
In TV-shows some characters should never change their designs this much.
PS:
Also i want Jestro minifig but all sets with him too expensive or big...

>missing minifigs
actually now that someone said that, i realized i DID lose some of the stuff my mom packed. it was played with at our first house (my great grandmas) and a few years ago, i finally remembered that. i had to go through all her old stuff packed away stuff, since she caught a case of being old and dead. my grandma thankfully just boxed everything she didnt sell/throw away and i found them (and some other shit, like my power ranger megazord) in there

it sounds stupid, but this was LITERALLY one of two females i had (crazy witch from fright knights) and she ended up getting alot of play. i missed her once i realized she was gone
>>
>>6130682
I have neither an attic nor a basement and a fair amount of Lego was thrown out years ago in a 'great house cleaning' set up by my grandparents. I remember seeing bits and bricks spilled in the driveway and trying to pick them all up, shit that I knew I only had one of (like the big transparent green radar dish) because I didn't have many sets to begin with (one small blue Lego tub's size, basically).

Years later I was doing lawnwork with my dad (who is now back into Lego himself since the first time I showed him what the new Technic sets look like, and whom I would always run to when my mom would take my meticulously separated pieces and dump them all back into the one bin) and we found bricks coming up out of the topsoil. At that point I stopped being sad and started being angry at shitheel grandparents who didn't realize how fucking costly Lego is.

Shit, hit enter too early

One of the pieces I found sticking out of the dirt was one of the white curved bricks from an Exo-Force set, specifically the tank one that had four treads that I remember used to sit on top of my bedstand proud as fuck. That was depressing.

Thankfully I had all my super special/unique (to me) stuff in a separate small container which I still have in my desk, including the light brick from that same set (which somehow still works on the original battery a decade and a half later).

did they somehow skip being parents, and just move on to grandparents?
did they not realize having a kid means theres a fucking mess?
are they clinically retarded, and should have been sterilized in the past in some sort of time travel movie in which your own existence would be put in jeopardy?

All the larger SW playsets in recent months/years (Takodana, Jakku, Scarif) have been overpriced, but they've also been subject to good sales. 75171 will probably be $60 USD, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a special on Amazon within a month or two of its US release that brings it down to $45 or lower.

There were 5 RO sets in the first wave and not one of them shared a minifig with another. Even this one has variants of the first wave minifigs (the single shoretrooper in the TIE Striker was the officer with blue markings), which is more than can be said of last year's playsets.

Probably not, since they're metal, but anything I have that puts something under tension (springs, rubber bands, etc.), I try to remove that tension when storing it. Take off rubber bands, remove missiles, etc.

I'm building the Haunted Mansion from Walt Disney World. Give me some criticism and maybe some ideas on how to continue on (aside from better planning, my first large MOC). Still have the roof to do, the tower thing in the center, and most of the interior, plus something for a graveyard, but I'm not sure what just yet.
>>

I'm the same way about Wal-Mart, but finding super deep discounts on Lego takes some of the sting of being inside a Wal-Mart. Got some incredibly sweet deals over the summer this way...

I've found jack shit in clearance since the holidays ended, but I might have to run into Wal-Mart tomorrow and see what bargains they have for myself. The Leho aisles were pretty much decimated the last time I checked, but I guess they might have restocked by now.

What are you using as a reference? I'm not sure if the ride really has any iconic rooms to build. Maybe try and do the music room and like the pet cemetery and ghost horse and carriage out front.
>>
File: hqdefault.jpg (51KB, 480x360px) Image search: [Google]
hqdefault.jpg
51KB, 480x360px
>>6132340
This is roughly what I'm basing the build off of.

The rooms I was planning on doing were the music room and library kind of together (I started the inside of this one already), the attic with the killer bride, the dining hall, and the hall of doors with floating candelabra for sure. I also considered doing Escher's stairs and the stretching room as well. I definitely want the graveyard, the ghost horse carriage, and the hitchhiking ghosts included.

One idea I played with is building this on a hill to add some custom terrain and give it some height to put the graveyard as kind of like a basement on the inside, but I don't know how that'd work. I could also just go the diorama route and have the main building with extra vignettes next to it.
>>
>>6132351
That's actually a really good shot of the outside. Have you been on the ride a few times? It would be really cool to be able to recreate some of the effects like the ghost writers' busts watching you or the dancing ghosts in the dinning hall. I'm not 100% sure, but I'd bet that the actual building is one of those crazy bigger on the inside thing's that Disney likes to make. That might make it harder to fit stuff in nicely. Thinking over the rooms, I guess several are actually pretty iconic.
>>
>>6132298
Hmm. I usually only blow money on DC and Marvel figs, but I DID cave and buy Ackbar. May as well cave again
>>
>>6132359
Yea, I've ridden it quite a few times. I thought about doing some effects like that, but I don't know how to do that in minifig scale.

The ride actually goes through a large building behind the faux front that's hidden by trees, so it's a lot larger on the inside. Especially since I'm doing rooms cut in half in a finite space, I'm boiling them down to the iconic features, and, like with the library/seance room, combining some features to make it fit. I really want two floors and an extra room in the tower, but I'm not sure how to build the second floor in the shell I've already built.
>>
>>6132368
>but I'm not sure how to build the second floor in the shell I've already built
It might be worth rebuilding it in the modular style so that the entire second floor lifts off the first.

If you really need space, you could use the hillside idea, but build up the ground around the first layer and build a basement below the entire thing.

I'd like to see more as you do more work on it.

I'm in the UK, it will cost a fair amount, but I doubt it will top 30 quid.

I suppose customer service is a good point, alongside VIP points.
>>
>>6133738
>those feedback scores
I mean I've bought from people with low scores but just inexpensive pieces.

I suppose you've gotta start somewhere.
>>

VIP points aren't really worth it. It comes down to a bit less than a 5% discount. I guess it's better than nothing, though.

It's possible. Around here things like that set tend to go on sale for a while, then return to normal price before going on sale again to clear them out. Right now there are a shitload of Morro Dragon sets at ~50% off, and I know they've been temporarily reduced in the past.

The low feedback scores are probably why they're so cheap. They know they wouldn't be able to compete with people with scores in the thousands if they sell at the same price they do. So they're likely selling at a discount while they build their reputation.

>>
>>6134210
if you want to store them temporarily and later rebuild, don't part them out in your sorted pieces since you won't be able to resist moccing with them. Parting them out in bags for that set is a lot more space-efficient and less dusty.

>>6134218
I think what I want to do is kind of alternate displaying different stuff. Also I haven't mocced once since getting back into lego so I dont think I will? Also I dont sort pieces or have enough yet to need to sort. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do with my star wars microfighters and battle packs. With larger sets I would just disassemble, bag neatly in ziplocs and place back in the box, but with small sets it'll take more space than it will save.

I bought this today thinking Id possibly be able to use it for microfighters.battle packs but right now I just have minifigs in the top (it has compartments) and microfighters in the middle (which is probably heresy or something ive never seen anyone mentioning storing assembled sets), both assembled. I dont know if this is fine or what I should be doing, I want them to stay in as good condition as possible though.
>>
>>6134225
not sure how serious you want to get with lego and if you are open to moccing in the future. But if you do, start sorting as soon as you have a pile of extra parts. Coming to the realization that "fuck, this giant bin of parts is impossible to work with and find parts" and then having to sort everything at once can be a bit daunting.
You don't have to start off super-specific of course, just enough for it to be manageable.
>>
>>6134241
>and then having to sort everything at once can be a bit daunting.
Honestly it sounds pretty fun. I'd grab some beer and make a weekend out of it
>>
>>6134241
>>6134247
Since keeping sets assembled in a bin seems kind of stupid, I kind of just want to disassemble microfighters and put the parts in the middle and disassemble battle pack builds and put them in the bottom

>>
>>6134694
I've been thinking about this myself. I'm sure he gets a fair share of the youtube bucks, but surely it wouldn't be enough to sustain his LEGO purchases at the rate he buys sets, and he hasn't always been so popular, obviously, but he's been consistently reviewing sets for years. He has mentioned that he used to work in product development (and hence he claims to understand the struggles that LEGO designers go through when creating sets) so maybe he just has/had a really high paying job? He could be retired young and just living off of the youtube money, I suppose, but I wouldn't think he'd make that much. Then again, he does imply that all he really does is work on LEGO and make videos...

Six stud wide and use solid panels instead of bricks for the back so you can fit more shit in. Four bricks wide is still a lot of space to fit stuff.

If you're keeping it minifig/City scale, six wide is probably the way to go; eight wide is only really used for stuff that ends up not fitting the normal scale at all (the DeLorean, Ecto-1, Joker's lowrider, etc). You end up with cars wider than trains.
