The original is all I need. Almost passed it up because cybertron Prime was my definitive Optimus at the time, but I bought it on impulse. Still feels like the definitive modern Optimus to me. I don't mind the non-G1 blues and yellows; in fact I dislike the more G1 decos of the Japanese ones. In my head, Classics was "G3", with characters returning in familiar, but different bodies.

I must be insanely lucky then, cause every TR figure I've purchased with the exception of Skull Cruncher has zero QC issues. No heads flying off or tabs breaking and no floppy joints except for the aforementioned Skull Cruncher (also I replaced the legs of SC and now he's perfect but because I had to do the old swap-a-roo I'm still counting him in the negative column). Chair modes?

Well finally got the LG Ginrai in hand.

It is a improvement to the ultra magnus mold.
The foot are now free to move in any direction besides rotation.
The arms are now better too, with the exception that the two panels do not close all the way to the back of the arms. They just hang there slightly off and you cant force them without some stress.

The feet are rather hollow so dont except to have good stability without some fiddling. They are made of 5 parts. Two blue are for the overall look of the feet, the outer skeleton and the hoove toe. Red for the heel and 2 grey parts for internal connection. It is not they are bad, but it is very clear they are meant to peg into something. And you cant have more articulation without more instability.

I post pic when i can get a pc internet connection that is not blocked.

Evolution 2 pack prime, I wanted henkei to match my henkei megatron but this works nicely.

He is my chug prime afterall, the only other primes are g1 and mp10, all other chug type primes are edge primes and thus separate characters

And yes, I happen to like underrated molds, nearly went for the regular cw prime but you guys saved me from the ratchets (in which I ended up going white prime instead who is in deep storage).

I was gonna put my classics galvatron for fun but I think all chug galvatrons that are SPECIFICALLY g1 made are shit (energon doesn't count, though I am considering getting that if an mp galvatron doesn't come out within the next 2 years)

But back on the thread topic, the arm kibble on classics prime sucks, I just pretend its an arm shield, the real problem is when you loose the shotgun, preventing a proper transformation, in a way he's kinda a parts former, or is it just good accessory integration?

The red part is a bit of a shame. They fold downward to form the heel. But if you play with the figure around you will push its heels upward. The red parts do not have any type of click to lock it in place.

It is not a killer though, but it is something you have to be careful with.

Here is an over exposed image on how the feet work.

The stability of the figure is mostly supported by the blue square "cage" along with the red heel. The toe can move forward so it tilt forward. The thing is on a double hinge that is rather strong.

No, by pushing him backward or changing the leg positions. The heels will fold. The figure even though hollow, still has some weight to it.

There are like two spots that like like combiner port, but i still can't see could they be when they are so shallow. It might be something to do with the red heels.

The arm is fully filled.
You can pull the whole lower arm out by pulling the hand.
Basically the hand is on the top of a pole which is part the arm lower panel. The red arm is a cover that covers it.
You push the arm upward like UM to form the arm.


Overall I would say some 3p is more than welcome to make addon like DX9 did with UM.
The holed backpack is pathetic. The hollowness of the feet (looking in from the side) and the heel can use some simple pieces to add meat and lock them in place better.

Here, I fully folded up the PMOP chest to simulate takara's look, either the top section of the chest folds so only the windows remain up or something I can't see.

Meanwhile one arm is in takara's configuration, the other is a shitty ramp, it can work with some imagination but remember, that "ramp" is under the arm, if you know the Leader magnus articulation you know what you may get


Meanwhile I got lazy on the legs, though I do prefer the ramp look the feet get in the way here.

Finally got Inferno in the mail today
Dum Christmas rush bogging everything down.

Red Autobot #693 looks really damn good and I'm impressed by his engineering overall. I think it's really cool that you don't have to remove his nozzle hand to swap it out for his right hand.

My only complaints engineering wise is that I really think they could have fit rotational movement onto his ladder, and some of the clearances are really too close for comfort. There's a lot of potential paint-on-paint action and I really feel the need to be exceedingly gentle while posing him and during some transformation step, his hip rotation is the worst about it. Also the red color on his decal sheet doesn't come close at all to matching the red paint so I guess I'll be waiting for a 3p sticker sheet to detail him up (seriously why can't takara into good stickers?).
And QC wise, my only issue at all is that I can't get his left arm to stay closed on its own, but I'm still trying to figure out if it's something that can be fixed.

They knocked it out of the park with this guy. Aesthetic-wise he blows MP Wheeljack out of the water and this is by a large margin the most well engineered MP I own.

There are a lot of little rubs that occur during transformation that should really be negligible as long as you're gentle, but really the biggest offender is his hip rotation. Two red painted, black plastic panels that tuck in above his legs will get absolutely grinded on by the red plastic hinge holding his ladder assembly unless you angle his legs so that the panels don't touch the hinge.

Also the undersides of his feet are painted red plastic that make up a large area of his truck mode, which is kind of obnoxious but thankfully they have raised pads to keep them from completely touching the ground.

I don't think paint rub on him will be an issue overall aside from his hips though. I might just be paint rub sensitive after dealing with MP Ratchet.

And yeah the undersides of his feet unfortunately make up a large portion of the rear of the Vehicle mode, but it doesn't all sit flush on the ground thanks to the raised bits (circled on one foot) which are somewhat unnoticeable in vehicle mode if they ever did get rubbed to the bare plastic.

Though the more I'm playing with him, this paint certainly seems resilient. I wouldn't worry about chips or rubbing (aside from his hips) unless you pose your toys on sandpaper or something.

Also he has an ab crunch and nobody talks about it.
