I'll still give AoE tons of shit for being a badly paced movie with too much human focus in the beginning and the latter parts.

DOTM at least had all the robots say their names, transform on screen and had more presence in the final fight.

Fun fact: They cut half the autobot rescue scene for non-imax movie viewings back then.

>>
>>6027610
Nah, DOTM was way worse for actual robot characterization. Characters pop in and out due to shifts in editing(the Twins, who where written out last minute). Dino/Mirage was wasted. As where both -waves. Megatron has an epiphany thanks to being called a bitch by a character who is played by a supermodel with no prior acting experience, cast partly out of spite for Megan Fox, and partly because of Bay's casting couch.

That's true but really though DOTM was at its peak compared to ROTF's barebones use of the new cast and TF1 trying to save its budget.

AoE may have had better personalities but it's overshadowed by the amount of screentime Cade and his family had in all parts of the movie. It had worse editing and CG, and they forgot that Bumblebee was at the Lockdown battle. In DOTM, all the autobots were there, helping Optimus, fighting the horde and taking the control pillar down while having time to fight Sentinel. Hell even the minicons Wheelie and Brains made an impact despite being just comic relief for most of the time.

So I finally got Triggerhappy, Twinferno and the Wave 3 legends today. Gnaw is fucking awesome, I love this little guy. I can't say I like Kickback that much, just because of how the wings sit, and Bumblebee is just a typical bumblebee, except a bit fat.

Triggerhappy is great, and my favorite of the two deluxes. Twinferno has a great robot mode, but the alt mode is too boxy for my tastes.

Damn that's old, then again I've seen people already around their 40's not knowing what + and - means on a batter compartment or what an AA or a AAA battery is. I used to work in an electronics section and I had people ask me to change batteries on a flashlight because they have no clue how to do it.

It's clearly more light hearted compared to Prime. The plot is also more self-contained within each season, maybe as a consequence of Animated and Prime's early cancellation. It's still a pretty fun show because the budget cell-shaded animation allowed them to introduce a new decepticon every other episode.

There's more TFP cameos from season 2 onwards, so I would really recommend a watch.

When I was 9, my Dad set me up in the kitchen with a soldering iron and a busted tv and said to have fun. Shortly after I started liking Transformers. Don't think there's any kind of connection at all...
>>
>>6027827
I touched my first soldering iron before my first screwdriver for some reason. It was in a DIY class in my school and we had to build a functioning motor car powered by batteries.

Of course, the car didn't work because the hot glue they gave us was shitty. But that was some decent life experience and helped me a lot.
>>
>>6027827
My first run in with a soldering iron was when I was not even 5. I saw my dad repairing an electric fan. Granted I rarely solder but at least I know how to in the events I do need to do it. Sucks that a lot of electronics nowadays are meant to be thrown away because of how impossible some of the components are to be replaced so the art of repairs is starting to die out.

Tool wise, we have a lot of those and right now I have a pliers beside me that is also a Swiss army knife that I use a lot from opening boxes to screwing stuff with.

That's wrong, all wrong. It is Hillary's establishment that wanted us to antagonize Russia at every turn and strong arm them into a no-fly zone agreement so that the radical rebels could behead Assad and turn Syria into another ultra conservative Sunni monarchy stronghold letting Qatar and SA can get a fuel pipeline into Europe. I mean sure, we'd love to help our beheader allies in the middle east get filthy rich off eurobucks and give the finger to Russia, but I don't agree with genociding all of the middle east and turning a secular government into another Islamic regime just for booku bucks.

>RotF toys were too complex for kids and mechalive gimmick didn't have much "punch" for them.
>DotM toys were dumbed down and each given a gimmicky mechtech weapon

>DotM's mechtech blaster took up too much of the figures' budget and was widely shunned by collectors.
>AoE separated gimmicks from the mainline transformers, offloading them to dedicated gimmick lines

>AoE toys were ???
>Last Knight toys will be ???

>>6027865
I think out of all that, the only gimmick that stuck were the DOTM ones weapon pegs being the same size and sharable with the deluxe and voyager sized TFs, not just exclusive to the movie line but the Generations line as well, hence the smaller sizes of the robots compared to the older movie lines.

Well if he transforms into a Cybertronian helicopter like the leaks/rumors said he will, it would be easier as his body is the kibble. It's why TF1 and TF2 had good looks save for the second one's lack of articulation for the arm. TF3 was a godsend but so darn small. TF4 was ehh.

For the other guys, I'll assume that
-Hotrod will be the uglier retool of Lockdown's mold
-Bumblebee will reuse an older mold
-Hound will probably get a retool and a redeco.
-Crosshairs has additional minor paint apps
-Drift will have a new car front but ultimately the same transformation scheme.
-Barricade will have a new mold
-Onslaught will have a new mold

>There were moving old tanks in one of the sets, and judging by the theme of the movie, might be one of the seekers of ROTF's lore.

SO I finally completed my set of RID warrior optimus molds, not digging out the original trio so you get the retools instead.

But it's got me thinking...who exactly are takara targetting with their decos?

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND hasbro marketing these as kids toys, so paint apps can be a tad crooked or just being seemingly lazy, I mean look at the tru power surge prime, I honestly find the deco of the mass retail version better if not for the lack of clear plastic.

But look at scourge in the middle, its complex paint apps are actually perfect right down to where the paint meets other paint sections like the chest and even the fake smoke stacks are painted.

Does takara take kids toys and deco them so hard for adults to find appeal or are japanese kids that autistic, I doubt its fears of paint rub as hasbro's reasoning for lack of paint since their shit is so tough even bleach didn't strip the paint from a TR skullcruncher, but why does takara kinda...over do it?

I love it but other than idiots like me who in japan would stuff like scourge be targetting?
>>
>>6028018
Paint rub is only an issue for autistic people. Normal adult collectors don't carry toys around, play with them enough and wear and tear them to do that kind of damage that children do.
>>
>>6027638

>>
>>6028029
Well let's be honest, all the cons in the first three were shit fighters against the autobots, and/or died under humans, but atleast DOTM had more than two death fights. TF1 had Bonecrusher vs Optimus and Megatron vs Optimus, TF3 had Ironhide and Sideswipe vs the Dreads, Dino vs one of the Dreads, Bumblebee vs Soundwave, Optimus vs Shockwave (a disappointment I do say) and Optimus vs Sentinel alongside Optimus vs Megatron.

Maybe it's just a matter of money?

Hasbro has to make the figures cheap enough to accommodate the lowest pricing of their American retailers.

Takara only needs to consider the (far higher) MSRP of their local market and budget the paint accordingly.

The budget difference allows takara to throw more paint at the same mold, but even so there's a limit to how much paint they can use, as you see on Vehicon General.
>>
>>6028050
This would make alot of sense actually.

Especially with the comparison with the vehicon general, I mean some of us applaud takara's legends blurr for the accuracy but the rear vehicle mode thrusters aren't painted yet the "fake" ones for his shoulders are.

Still bugs me to death, guessing they hit the wall with him
>>
>>6028046
>Ironhide and Sideswipe vs the Dreads
The dreads stab the autobots and then get destroyed.

>Dino vs one of the Dreads
He hangglides on it and then it crumbles into pieces for no reason (and his head falls off for no reason)

>Bumblebee vs Soundwave
Bumblebee doesn't get hit once and shoots soundwaves head off.

>Optimus vs Shockwave (a disappointment I do say)

>Optimus vs Sentinel
The only good one.

>Optimus vs Megatron
That wasn't a fight, it was a one sided beatdown.

While it's true they sucked in the other films, I just hate DOTM for how it went about it, the autobots cut through them all like butter.
>>
>>6028056
It's also the lack of personality for the villains in the director's perspective so yeah it's the most simplified "autobots wage their battles to destroy the evil forces"

I won't expect much in TF5 in terms of combat, but hopefully a shit ton more of melee.
>>
>>6028058
I have hopes for it, that's for sure.

Why do people think there'll be a focus on melee in the film and toyline? the whole knight theme?
>>
>>6028062

>>
>>6028070

>>
>>6028078

The wings can also be quite varied depending on your preference, looks like the wings can be folded to the side so he can have them more prominent.

And the chest ones can be folded inside his chest in robot mode freeing up articulation, which brings up another gripe.

The chest stickers should of been on the mini wings but clearly they want the chest wings folded in for maximum movement so the stickers are stowed away

So qc in the joints can be iffy, sounds common especially for TR figures.

That said while I'd LOVE to blame hasbro for thinner plastic strength it may just be a compromise for his complexity, and takara's won't change much, may even end up worse after my experience with legends wheelie, loose little shit

>ridcuslous

Sure is because I already mentioned takara versions can fuck up the same, if not, worse than hasbro figures, and oh boy I can just point at mp ramjet or UW bruticus and shit gets real.

The simple fact is hasbro's gets more focus when they fuck up is because there are more of them out there while takara's are made in minimal numbers, ramjet was only sperged about because of the absurd asking price and people had high hopes on an old as fuck mold.

The only "winning" parts are the deco choices and retoolings, which are subjective ESPECIALLY with legends super ginrai.

Heh, the sad part is I have fixed or tolerated all of my hasbro stuff, and apart from a "sub par" ramjet my only real hassle was legends wheelie and his loose pin joints, still I'm a sucker for their paint schemes I admit that much unless its minimal like the deluxe headmaster crew
>>
>>6028267
>I really hope Takara's Sixshot is just a straight repaint
Well yeah...its already perfect g1/headmasters sixshot, in form at least.

>none of that upgrading business like they did with Ginrai
They did that because they felt (with their audience) it wasn't recognizable, the feet are the only real issue, if anything the removal (or rather the new placement...) or the hollows in the arms was a good thing.

>because his Headmasters colours suck, the purple's nonexistent
Then better stay away from takara's then because (good chance) that is what they'll be doing.

>Like I said, don't care

Never realized how bland MP Shockwave looks now that I see him next to MP Soundwave.
The mold looks great but they dropped the ball on the colors. Hopefully they'll do a non-cartoon colored one, with darker purple like the toy, and accentuating some details
>>
>>6028280
Best wait for hasbro's shockwave then if they do it, or even a takara "shackwave" aka faux diaclone colors.

The issues with shockwave lie in the shift to animation accuracy, reliance with plastic colors (the painted diecast sections look right but you hardly see them) and the fact he needs the right lighting to look anything like his show counterpart, his purple is hard to capture properly
>>
>>6028276
>Well yeah...its already perfect g1/headmasters sixshot, in form at least.

Subjective, especially for hanzo there and overlord, their heads kill it for me (especially overlord's lips but I'm not a fan of his idw face either) and some of hanzo's modes look...chubby.

>>
>>6028302
I didn't say you were.

>most obvious color choice
Because hasbro tends to go toy colors, takara takes the anime color variant where possible, perhaps they consider it "too drab" for a kids toy which it technically is.

For me the stickers, or rather their placement kill it for me, gonna wait on takara's unless a sale happens
>>
>>6028293
Let me explain my thinking, I hope it's a straight repaint because then it's purely subjective as to which one one wants, so if it's a straight repaint I can just get the one I prefer. But if they do any upgrades I'll go for it because it's the superior version despite the colours.

Perhaps it's a non-issue, I can't think of much they could upgrade, but it remains to be seen.

Those were just probable, reasonable reasons why they would of went that route, considering all the panels he could get damaged, given time he'll get a few repaints to bring back RnD cost, so better rush out for that gloss black megatron then.

>Paint can be very durable as long as you're not a fucking hamhander
My mp05 is tight as fuck and that diecast spine didn't help, granted the scratch marks are only on his back where the damn diecast spine hits the back, still just trying to pry the damn thing off for the first time required excessive force, I build models, I'm gentle, even more so with gloriously silver painted toys, but it wasn't budging.

I pray that mp36's panels have some spacing to them so when they fold up they don't rub together, for I too, would love a silver, or even a gold repaint.

I'd like to see this retool.

I feel the opposite way, TR appeals to me WAY MORE than Combiner Wars did, and I think I figured out why.

There was a pressure with the Combiner Wars figures. You HAD to get all the figures in a wave to get the most potential out of them. The combining gimmick was the WHOLE POINT, so if you spent the prerequisite 15-25 on a toy, you're only getting a small part of the experience, and, in a lot of the toy's cases, what a shoddy part of the experience that was. Honestly, barring some of the Voyagers, and maybe some leftover nostalgia glasses, the vast majority of the CW figures were pretty garbage, and releasing them in line with an across-the-board price hike was just too much.
I wanted Menasor. That's all I really wanted. I bought Dragstrip. I never got the chance to buy any of the others. Sure, I could've just bought any old figure and made a Franken-biner, but it wouldn't have felt RIGHT, you know? So I missed out there. I felt pressured into buying more of the toys, and in so doing I missed out.

With TR, that pressure is gone. Right now, I have Wheelie. That's it. And he is, by himself, a perfectly complete package, and he's great on his own, but his vehicle mode has this big empty space that I want to fill with a Titan Master.
But that's the difference, I think. I *want* to engage in the play pattern in TM, as opposed to CW, where I felt pressured into doing so.

It's the basic carrot vs stick.

I could see them pulling a Cyclonus out of Triggerhappy.

I like both the lines equally. Both have had a lot of good offerings.

Also if you still want Menasor, you can still find his UW and his G2 without much trouble. Never give up the dream, Anon.
