What are some really cool weird Transformers, /tfg/?

You're not alone anon. I'd kill for a good new Demolishor, or an Armada Megatron that wasn't a halfassed retool of the not even that good GEEWUN version.

>>
>>5989136
I don't think they should do Armada Prime without a decent demand for it.

He's practically a triple changer with a trailer that has to turn into a battle station and power armor. To do him justice he'd need to be a full 200$ figure, which would shy away non-Armadafags I imagine.
>>
>>5989151
>>5989151
Armada Prime came in 2nd place in that vote, and fairly close to Star Saber if I recall correctly.
>>
>>5989155
I kind of agree, he'd be better suited to being a Leader Class figure, which I think would be sufficient. Around Voyager class base Optimus and his base makes him Leader sized.
>>
>>5989136

MP Armada Prime would sell like shit.
>>
>>5989170
Not necessarily. IIRC Armada/Micron Legend was pretty popular in Japan. It helped the Japanese version of the anime wasn't utter toilet.
>>
>>5989173

It had a much nicer animation quality.
>>
>>5989173

That's true but I wonder if they'd go with the auto-transforming gimmick or not. It's pretty definitive of the original toy I can imagine lots of bitching on either side of the fence though.

>>
>>5989181
>That's true but I wonder if they'd go with the auto-transforming gimmick or not.

It's already a nightmare to add joints to the super mode legs given de design of that trailer and the way it transforms. Seems pretty obvious to me that the auto-transformation would be ditched.
>>
>>5989181
I think that including it would hurt the figure more than anything else. They tend to only do toy homages like that if its actually practical, which the auto transforming trailer wouldn't be.
>>
>>5989190
>>5989197

Yeah I forget just how many liberties the show took. At least it kept the parts-forming so even then it's probably more forgiving than a lot of g1 designs.
>>
Is it weird that I actually want MP's of the energon deluxe autobots just to see them pull them off?
>>
>>5989201
>At least it kept the parts-forming so even then it's probably more forgiving than a lot of g1 designs.

Not so sure about that. The trailer transforms by turning inside out, so the legs are a hollow box-like thing. Adding knees and hips to that is going to require some serious thinking outside the box (no pun intended).

I'm really curious about how they would tackle that thing, actually.

>>5989211
They could probably take some liberties with the fact that, much like Star Saber's power armor turns into empty power armor folded into the shape of what is vaguely a jet, Armada Prime's trailer looks like robot legs folded into a rectangle.

Still, they'd need to get a competent base mode out of it as well,
>>
>>5989226
And don't forget an MP Sparkplug!
>>
>>5989249
Over-Run too for good measure. I'd honestly be all over certain Mini-con's getting the MP treatment.
>>
>>5989211

That's just the kind of thing the MP line is for though. Never would've thought I'd see Cheetor so accurate so I don't doubt that Takara's engineers could pull it off.
>>
I finally got my hands on a wheelie and he's pretty cool. What's the consensus on his vehicle mode holding together like shit, though? Is there some combination of shaving tabs/pledging that will make it more solid?

And also holy shit, he has pinned wheels and rolls like a champ. When's the last time we saw that?

>>

>Has MP36 been shown to be able to put the fusion cannon on the side of his arm yet?

You only need to check the pic of his back to notice that the forearm is actually rotated 90 degrees so the cannon faces like the show model.

So yeah, it can be moved to the side.

Okay, so I just ordered this for $13 shipped including the coin. It even claims to be genuine (but I have my doubts)

Tell me. Did they even knock off the coins or am I getting a legit factory second or something? I guess I'll see if/when I get it.

Also, this goes to show you how much profit Takara must make if these things can be sold for $13 shipped from China.
>>
>>5989324
Nearly everything is made for dirt cheap and sold at a massive markup, even stuff made outside of china.
>>

How hard would it be to remove UW Blast Off's feet? Is there a section where i can just pop them off the hinges or is it all pins down there.
>>
Is it normal for TR/LG Hardhead's cannon to be slightly angled?

I just noticed that the cannon doesn't sit perfectly flush against his body because one of the segments of the levers holding the cannon is slightly angled.

It doesn't look like warped plastic, a crooked pin or any other QC issue. It's probably just some mold tolerance thing.

I'm just curious if anyone else noticed this on their Hardheads.
>>
>>5989346
I don't know what Blastoff is like, but UW Strafe's feet are pinned in. There's one pin joint holding the lever to the leg and a friction joint holding the feet to the lever.

That's Voyager Fireburst Optimus Prime from the DotM line. I have the regular version (which comes with a different weapon) and he's pretty good, but I got him for about £15 (sans kneepads). He isn't movie accurate at all but he's pretty poseable, surprisingly fun and I do dig his anime super robot proportions and the EXTREEEEEEEEME 90s aesthetic with the rocket boosters and solar panels.

Movie one Optimus toys are kind of endearing. They look like G1 Optimus failing to cosplay movie Optimus.
>>
>>5989405
Depends on how much you like the design. It's pretty great as a toy.

I'd suggest looking for one under $20 even if you like it though.
>>
Is ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime really THE definitive movie Prime?

Are they worth $49? This is supposedly a KO but it should be the same thing. I hear they even copied the voice box. These were obviously made in the same factories.

I mainly want one because of all the negative reviews it has from idiots on Amazon.

>>
Is there anything else like like Car Robots Fire Convoy? I freakin love this toy. When I first got it in 2001, I played with that thing for hours.

I missed out on God Magnus so I never experienced the ultimate combined form. Though, I remember some people were able to repurpose some screw holes as pegs and tack on all the Super Fire Convoy parts onto the God Fire Convoy combined form.

Is there anything more modern with the playability of Fire Convoy?

Also, shellformers like the CR Car Brothers. I love those guys. Speedbreaker has such an involved transformation but I eventually mastered it in under like 60 seconds.

What is there that is more modern and like Speedbreaker and the BW Neo guys.

I think Deluxe ROTF Mudflap and Skids may count.
>>
>>5989441

I want there to be a remake so I can possibly get a black and gold repaint for cheap this time around.
>>
>>5989414
It's complicated, requires a precise order of operations in the transformation and has some clearance issues in the transformation. But that said, it's one of the best Transformers ever. If they'd removed the electronics, it'd probably be perfection. I don't hate electronics, mind you, but the torso could have been neater and more compact without them. And it's not like the chest pump and the one I AM OPTIMUS PRIME line wasn't really worth it.

Oh yes, Its a beautiful figure. Robots in Disguise being brought over was the first time I really experience hype for Transformers; I was a Beast Wars fan and I was keeping an eye on the then-new ebay and internet websites and came across Gigatron and fire convoy. Just their paint alone is gorgeous. Big Convoy is the closest thing to a similar figure, I consider them to be effectively "sibling designs"; they where designed by the same guy

Aesthetically its a very purely Japanese look. Between Car Robots and Beast wars Neo, there's a clear attempt to distance themselves from older aesthetics, much in the same way a lot of other Japanese mecha designs where going through a change.Over here the pendulum swung back hard after beast Machines so the G1 look was in, which killed that momentum, as Takara was following Hasbro's lead.

Maybe some 3rd party stuff would be similar, but I don't find the aesthetics as slick. Thunder Manus looks really fun.
>>

And I know they'll have a ton because mine always have a shit load of the exclusives put out. They're currently sitting on like 3 dozen Marvel Legends Namors.

Okay, so I found him on Walmart.com for a slight markup. They also offer ship to store. They also still have Generations Warpath on clearance so I was thinking of picking up Fixit and Warpath at the same time.

Does anyone here have experience with Walmart's ship to store? Do they let you pay at pickup?

>>
>>5989982
I was just looking at this. Is it an official pic? If so did they really put the only female like that? Airazor doesn't seem like the type (had the figure as a kid and it was one of my favourites, just lost her claw weapon but otherwise complete, why am I even saying this...).

Something of a missed opportunity with MP Primal I think would have been giving him articulated gorilla feet that can hold things. Even just a bit of toe articulation and a slot hole that can hold the MP style guns would be really cool.

I can't think of any off hand but I'm almost certain there have been a few instances of Primal holding something in his monkey feet in the first season

A huge factor in MP Primal's costs is the extensive printed textures on him. Without them he'd probably be like 80$ like cheetor

I doubt any other theoretical BW MP would run higher than 120$ though. Maybe an Optimal Optimus or Transmetals2 Megatron if they ever reach that point.

Compared to my Alpha Trion (or even Hardhead), he feels really cheap and hollow.

But TR are my first 1st party Transformers since about 2014, so maybe I'm just not used to the crappy Vietnamese workmanship (workchildship?). Apart from the fact he's another use of the old mp11 mold he suffers from a few qc issues

>certain parts of the wings being miss assembled
>one prevents them from tabbing into jet mode
>the other (which is common) has a small section being misaligned, not detrimental aesthetically unless you have autism but when folding the wings they make a loud CRACK noise and self repair requires some expert level tools
>small qc fuck ups here and there at random

Mine specifically has a chipped nose, and the left shoulder connector intended for the mp11 coronation set is missing, not a big loss except for the fuck huge gap in his shoulder

If I wasn't a ramjet fan I would of got him refunded, he still looks great but he certainly isn't worth the whole TAKARA WINS AGAIN shit.

Star Saber is an ace design, I'll admit that much. Hell, I even bought the MP when it came out. But Victory is nowhere close to something that could be considered "good".

He's perfectly fine. There's many BW characters taller than Primal, if he was bigger and he line continues the others would be fuckhuge and stupidly expensive.

Not him, I honestly enjoyed victory as much as I liked the original g1.

Maybe because it had plenty and didn't have the weird shit supergodmasterforce had and had more action than headmasters.

Wat better than the snorefest that was Headmasters and Armada, at the very least. It's just a kids show in the same vein as the future Brave series, if you like that style you will find it entertaining.

I'm curious how they would handle the size. Matched to the original toy? It would obviously be impossible to scale with current MPs.
>>

Agreed, and he's got fair size to him. He's between voyager and ultra, which isn't too bad. Of course the price being what it is is a bit much, but that's how it goes. Cheetos will end up only being a being 2/3 the price of primal, which is still pretty pricey considering being smaller, no lights, and the like, so who knows.
>>

Ignore whatever happened to my English plus Cheetos, but his legs are really far apart in that pic, so it's deceiving. He seems to be really close to the ultra in size.

At least when Daniel was insufferable in Headmasters, he was only one character. In Victory, pretty much all the Autobots make me wish they'd just shut the fuck up.

>It's just a kids show in the same vein as the future Brave series
And that's why I held off on watching the Braves for so long because I expected to hate them for the same reasons, the blind and stupid hero worship with no meat to the story and zero characterization, but even at their worst they were still more enjoyable than Victory.

That doesn't do anything for the rest of him. Proportions completely wrong, colors off, moronic movie style legs. Flavor of the week aesthetic for Generations figures? Nope.

I mentioned a few threads back, I found all four wave 2 deluxes in a Walmart in Toronto last Saturday, bought the only Chromedome there

I feel dumb, I had no idea he had LEDs. I'm gonna order him now.

I mean, I know why it's like that, but it still looks fucking retarded.
