I've always wondered how that figure was. I hardly hear anyone talk about him- I assume it's cuz HA Jazz blew the '07 out of the water.

I really like the '07 designs, though. They've still got a degree of blockiness to them since Hasbro hadn't mastered Bayformers as toys yet. It actually makes some of the screen inaccurate designs more redeemable because I don't tend to like full on bayformer aesthetics. It's kinda like how 2010 was a blend of movie and g1/generations design styles.

Hasbro one doesn't actually look that bad in person. They went lazy with the paint but at least the color they chose is nice. It's makes him feel less like a child's toy. I also like the details on his feet which the Takara one omitted because they're going for the cartoon look.

I was conflicted on galvatron, I really hated the face mask gimmick but everything else I loved (although while the treads on the arms is toy accurate design wise they're a bitch in fuctionality), sure the paint ain't accurate like takara's but...takara's choice in purple seems to have the same case as mp shockwave, I'm guessing making that particular shade in plastic is difficult...

But if they can paint CW leader megs in glorious silver, why couldn't takara do that and paint their galvatron in that way?

I plan on painting the head too, but I'll ask again, I wish to mode the face so *just* the face of the titan master is stuck to the crown, but I can't get in there to sand the back of the mask properly without full disassembly, what's a simple tool I can use that anyone can reach into the face mask?

I assume a dremmel would give best results but I don't have one, and a popsicle stick/sandpaper combo doesn't really work.

All in all, voyager galvatron from hasbro is good enough, wish he was bigger though

I own two uses of the Jazz mold, and it's really not a very good toy. It's squat and unusual looking, not accurate to the film, the arms are useless, the articulation's just passable... the transformation's alright, though.

Really, the HA is just so damn good, it's a shame we never got a deluxe downscale like the various deluxe bumblebees that ripped off his HA.

I had an idea for an insecticon combiner that I think would be pretty fun. G1-esque robo-bug modes, you got an ant and a wasp for the arms and a bumblebee and a house fly for the legs, with the torso bot being some kind of beetle. Essentially, two deluxes with paint and minor tooling differences to make them look like four, and a voyager beetleborg, maybe put out a mantis or locust or something as a scout sized fifth member who turns into a melee weapon.

Soundwave should technically be a Voyager by your scale but he's big and complex enough that the jump in size is justified.

That's really the issue with Transformers scaling; you can want a character to be in scale all day, but sometimes you physically can't get a toy to work in the scale it's supposed to be, else you end up with Deluxe Airrachnid.

Read the thread. The original point being made was that Thubderblast could not be made from Nautica because even though they were boats, they were different kinds of boats.

The rebuttle was offered that characters like Warpath have been made from similar but very different molds than there original. In Warpath's case, you'll notice one big, protruding difference in his CW mold and all the others.
