May building challenges:
>make your own Dimensions team based off of a new franchise
>create a new Music star/act for Legovision 2016, also include any instruments or stage props, and don't forget an awesome name
>wasn't there also something about animal vehicles
>build a vehicle or fleet worthy of riding into Valhalla, shiny and chrome
>greeble: remake any set or build something with an absurd amount of greebling
>build a mighty micro vehicle (any surface type)
>can may be mini moc madness month: spaceship edition? yes it can
>build a brick-built animal!
>make a stop-motion / multi-frame animation
Drop me an email if you have any Disney mini figures you want to get rid of
>>5662777
You could try rebrickable but it may not have everything in it's database same as brick eficency
>>5662887

>>5662871
There's a bunch of parts like that. Leaked prototypes, custom colors for LUGs, maybe some others. White visors in this pic are an example.
>>5662884
What sale(s) typically comes after May the 4th?
Any of you guys have the Carbon Freezing Chamber? I was thinking about picking it up. Seems kinda neat.
Anyone here have the Giant Man brick-built figure? Just wanted to see some pictures of it. Probably gonna pick up the whole set even though it feels like a bit of a rip-off. I dunno.
I've been tinkering around with this "junkyard" theme on ships from Star-Wars, said junkers use a variety of parts from other ships to make these things work again. What do you guys think?
Obi-wan's Star fighter and Rey's speeder if you can't tell.
>>5662974
My favorite part, Junker Astromech droid with "prosthetic" leg!
>>5662976
Fucking rotation, sorry.
>>5662977
shit ass, i give up.
>The largest order was the last one to arrive
Classic bricklink. Oh well ha ha it's time to build.
>>5662884
>brick daddy
Mah nigga! He and his main man jawson are some of my favorite minifigs of all time.
To whoever recommend getting the Parisian restaurant set yesterday, you sure as fuck were right.
The build is a bliss and the final result is maximum comfy.
The only things I could want would be at least another minifg since it's three stories high, plus three separate outdoor areas and can feel kinda empty depending on how you look at it; also the entrance, right behind the door of the 3rd floor painters studio is completely bare and could benefit from at least a sink or something.
I mean how is that girl going to wash her brushes?
>>5662974
>that jedi fighter hybrid thingy
I like it. The color scheme is too much all over the place or not enough, imo.
>>5663021
>implying french girls wash anything
Time to step up and get the detective's office son. Comfy-ness factor is even higher.
>>5663028
>implying french girls wash anything
Well mine just did so I guess foreign stereotypes aren't always true.
I bought the Brick Bank too so I'm getting started on that.
>mfw using ice cube trays to seperate tiny pieces
How could I have been so blind?
>>5663032
The brushes or her box? I railed a French bird a few years back and it was awesome but she was a dirty slut
>>5662959
I have it, I love it.
Only real flaws are that it's technically only half of the platform and some of the play features are a bit pointless. Could maybe use some other figs too, but I'm not complaining.
And Boba has an angry clone-face which is hilarious
>>5663034
Nah, her whole god damn body, it's basic hygiene, you just got dealt a bad hand then.
If anything, most girls I know spend two hours a day under the shower.
Also I'm making progress on the bank, it's breddy gud, the nexo knight shield things make for a superb tiled floor.
Post comfy sets!
Mocs are fine too
>>5663110
The Lego Flying Dutchman is certainly cute, but I don't know if it's comfy.
>>5663110
>>5663116
Oh man I remember almost dying of wanting that set too much.
>>5663116
Is that a real set? It looks like a moc someone cobbled together from 4 or 5 different sets.
>>5663130
It's the realest thing you'll ever see.
In my opinion, the Adventurers themes were the golden age of lego, but that might just be because they perfectly covered my 6-12 age period.
Oh great and now When I will get Donald I WILL HAVE| TO build this.
Of course better because this one sucks.
>>5663116
I used to drool for hours over that set looking at it in the catalog
>tfw never got it
>>5663141
I like this one
>>5663150
one question: are those wheels able to turn freely?
>>5663150
Thos one indeed looks nice!
I was thinking about using Juniors car base as it seems to fit perfectly!
>>5663150
>dolan.png
>>5663155
No idea, doesn't seem that way
Also it seems the creator did some heresy and painted the front grille part. And the white tires are probably from that SpongeBob set
>>5663110
>dutchman doesn't have a beard piece
>>5663161
it's printed. all the current lego beards would obscure too much of the face
>>5663164
wow, that looks terrible.
They couldn't have even bothered to recolor an existing part? At least make an attempt, really lego..
I finished the UV lighting guide.
Hope this helps!
>>5663175
thanks, guy!
>>5663175
Interesting. I want to see how a ghost looks under one of these lights.
Any recommendations on how to modify the cockpit to actually look like one?
>>5663213
And set is 75135. Already added a holder for saber's hilt behind the "seat".
Sorry for flipped.
>>5662971
>giant man
Here, have the real deal
>>5663238
Fuck I would love to know how to build a fig at that size.
>>5663205
>Interesting. I want to see how a ghost looks under one of these lights.
Like this.
>>5663205
In my experience it really doesn’t react much. Kind of makes the plastic glow more intensely once you turn it off, though.
>>5662971
I saw it built at the Lego Store and I have to say, it was smaller than I expected. Like, quite a bit smaller.
>>5663262
Those glass cases make everything look small IMO.
>>5662552
Here's a little example of a stronger double-knee joint I'm making to support more weight and give the moc more pose ability.
>>5662974
UGLIES!!!
>>5663213

Is there any hope for her or is she lost cause? Its some kind of marker.
>>5663335
Try removing it with a red Expo dry-erase marker.
If that fails, try soaking it in Simple Green for a couple weeks.
>>5663335
What exactly is the problem? The picture is too potato.
>>5663348
Its a white clone trooper helmet painted red with a marker.

Probably yes, when i fit a wheel holder piece directly under the bottom of this wheel arch piece, it spins when this wheelsize is applied.
Bit late to the party
I'm stuck at home right now so I made a little 16x16 vignette.
Is there a Harry Potter set that didn't increase in value a whole lot? I'm feeling real nostalgic but don't want to be raped on the price

There are some other parts that react to UV light, despite their colors. These two ghost legs are CMF S14 Specter Trans-clear 19859pb03 Lower Body, Ghost with Marbled Dark Bluish Gray Pattern and CMF S14 Banshee 19859pb02 Trans-clear Lower Body, Ghost with Marbled Sand Green Pattern.
>>5663238
That's amazing. Can't wait to see it done
>>5663262
I dunno, I watched Jang's review and was okay with the size. I'm sort of with >>5663264, they do make things oddly small
>>5663460
Wonder if they'll make sets for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Ninjago meets Yakuza.
Also, bootleg face prints don't last like originals.
>>5663484
>wonder if they'll make sets for FBaWtFt
I fucking hope. It'd be cool if they released some old sets as well. Maybe they'll return to Hogwarts in the second movie (it's inevitable) and we'll get some older sets redone
>>5663528
Yeah, every once in a while I'll get really nostalgic for the old Harry Potter sets. I wish that young me hadn't been stupid and torn apart my Hogwarts Express...

Thanks for the feedback. I do suppose space could become an issue if I did go nuts. Can't believe I forgot about that issue. Maybe I should start with the newer ones anyway.
>>5662971
I'll see if I can take some pics when I get home in a couple of weeks. I've had a few interesting ideas to mess around with, and they should showcase him pretty well. Of course that's not much help now.
As for the set, I like it. It is a bit lacking, but the minifigures and set pieces do well. Definitely has a well thought out balance between play and design you can build on if you wanted to.
>>5663021

Those pictures are 01.jpg thorugh 07.jpg. I can post them later today.
>>5662974
It's hard to pull off in lego because it's already difficult to make something not just look like a pile of parts even with a matching color scheme. These in general just seen like a child finding instructions to a model they don't have so they try and make them out of the limited parts they do have. not very impressive.

Lucky fuckers. Ive wondered about hitting up asian markets around here to see if I can find any, but this is michigan.....we never get the cool shit like that.
>>5663765
There's a chain of liquidation centres here that seem to have a never-ending supply of Chinese legos, they must have a direct line to the manufacturers cuz the prices tend to be better than online usually.
They had these for $3 Cdn apiece, I got the Mandalorian commando who for some reason has a microbuild snowspeeder.

I'm an anon from the previous thread.
I just started getting into Lego again lately and bought a bunch of sets pretty randomly, just to see what sticks.
I have the Bank and the Restaurant and they're pure fucking awesomeness: to build, to move around, to look at and brag.
You get lots of weird pieces in rare colors and lots of crazy designs when it comes to the details.
They're truly inspiring sets and I kinda wish I could have had them when I was a kid: they fill all the needs I had for livable interiors, details made out of unusual pieces and playability.
If you have the money lying around, I say go for it.
Bulding the Ecto-1 right now.
Man fuck the blue tube.

>>5664268
Lovely! Quite the likeness!
>>5664209
>In the pis with the vivid glow, are you using any lighting besides the blacklight?
In the guide, the vivid shots are taken with two UV bulbs and the room's regular ceiling light. You can use more regular light if you want a more muted glowing effect; depending on your camera's ability to meter, the glowing pieces will still be visibly brighter even with lots of visible bounce light.
The downside of this is that the stuff behind the glowing parts is more obscured, because there's less difference in brightness between the glowing parts and non-glowing surroundings.
If you really want to get crazy, rig up some small, tight lights that let you illuminate certain areas with visible light and others with UV light.
>>5663545
>>5663711
And here's the catalog of UV-reactive pieces that I've assembled so far. It's fairly safe to say that every trans-neon green, trans-neon orange, and trans-medium blue piece will glow. Other pieces must be taken on a case-by-case basis. Anyway...
01:
Flowers are trans-medium blue 4728
Popsicle is tran-med blue 30222
02:
Clikits008: Trans-Neon Yellow Clikits Bead, Ring Thick Small Double with 2 Pins (AKA RADIOACTIVE CARTOON MEAT)
Clikits004: Trans-Neon Yellow Clikits Icon, Flower 10 Petals 2 x 2 Small with Pin
Clikits020: Trans-Neon Yellow
Clikits Icon, Flower 10 Petals 2 x 2 Large with Pin
03:
trans-neon green 4589 Cone 1 x 1 without Top Groove (top) glows the bright greenish-teal like most trans-neon green pieces
Trans-neon green 4589b Cone 1 x 1 with Top Groove glows with a less intense and obviously more green light.
Trans-neon green 10178 and 10178pb02 Rock 1 x 2 Crystal Stepped
Trans-neon orange transparent chainsaw
Trans-neon green stud
Trans-neon orange stud
Trans-neon green 58176 Light Cover with Internal Bar / Bionicle Barraki Eye
Trans-neon orange flames, both with and without side pins
Trans-neon orange 64647 Minifig, Plume Feather Triple Compact / Flame / Water
04:
Trans-neon green 98348 Minifig, Weapon Whip Bent with Snake Head / Dildo and Pin Hole
Trans-neon green and trans-bright green 30374 Bar 4L (Lightsaber Blade / Wand)
05:
32271: Trans-Neon Green Technic Liftarm 1 x 9 Bent (7 - 3) Thick
32271: Trans-Neon Orange Technic Liftarm 1 x 9 Bent (7 - 3) Thick
(CONTINUED)
06:
Trans-neon orange 4218 Garage Roller Door Section without Handle
Trans-neon orange 6124 Minifig, Utensil Magic Wand
Trans-neon orange 6120 Minifig, Utensil Ski with Hinge
Yellow 2496 Wheel Skateboard / Trolley
Trans-neon orange x42 Minifig, Visor with Horizontal Slit and Antenna
Trans-neon green 2447 Minifig, Visor Standard
Trans-neon green 2412 Tile, Modified 1 x 2 Grille with Bottom Groove / Lip
The opaque yellow trolley wheels don't exactly "glow" like the trans pieces, but they are obviously somewhat reactive.
07:
From top left:
Red CMF S5 Royal Guard x2
Red CMF S5 Woodsman x2
Red CMF S11 Mountain Climber
Red torso with red arms
Red S13 Female Samurai
Dark red S14 Zombie Pirate
Red S2 Lifeguard
Red CMF S5 Woodsman
Red S2 Lifeguard
Arms may not be originals
08:
From top left:
Non-reactive red 3678a Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 Smooth without Bottom Tube
CMF S4 Kimono Girl red 3678b Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 Smooth with Bottom Tube
CMF S14 Specter Trans-clear 19859pb03 Lower Body, Ghost with Marbled Dark Bluish Gray Pattern
CMF S14 Banshee 19859pb02 Trans-clear Lower Body, Ghost with Marbled Sand Green Pattern
Red 41879 Legs short
CMF Zombie pirate legs
You can't really tell in this picture but the dark red parts of the zombie legs react the same as the torso.
And here's a graph that explains why this happens, I guess.
Anyone know if 2nd and Charles sells Lego?
Gonna go to Virginia Beach the day after tomorrow. Should I bring my Sig Fig and take pics of him at my favorite places there? I've seen some of you guys do it.
I'm also thinking of getting the Camaro Drag Race. I saw one guy make the rear wheels on the '69 model sensibly sized, while still giving that general suped-up muscle car look. Did her ever make a tutorial on that? I don't want to rip him off and make the exact same thing he did, I just want smaller wheels without having to totally gut the thing. I think it was pic related.
>>5664383
Noice! Do you know which category the Slimer from the Dimensions Fun Pack fits under?
I've been wanting to make a Trump minifigure, is there a better hairpiece than this one? I've been looking for a little bit, but I'm not expert. Also, any advice on a head would be greatly appreciated, don't care if it's yellow or flesh colored.
>>5664435
Not orange enough.
>>5664435
Just use an orange 1x2 tile. That's what I did.
>>5664421
anon that made the camaro mod you posted here and the early wip without the windshield,
Yeah you should totally make some outside pics! I willl too in the summer!
I used the same kind of rims used for the once retardedly large wheels but just changed out different rubber tires. I didn't make a tutorial but i can do so maybe in the future.
What parts of the build do you not understand or would you like to see in detail?
>>5664421

They even have a sign on the door telling you not to do this.
>>5664450
I was gonna bring him anyway. I'll post pics tomorrow, but he hair is a redhead color that shows best in sunlight.
The rear axle is obviously raised closer to the body in this custom version that one guy made. I wanna know how to do that without completely taking apart the Camaro.
>>5664450
You'd be surprised. It's actually just a trans-green, like the studs used on traffic lights.
So there's a particular train set available on eBay for relatively low price for what it is.. I'm considering buying it.
The kicker is, the listing says many of the pieces are glued together.
Can it be saved? Should I step up to the task?
>>5664534
>You'd be surprised. It's actually just a trans-green, like the studs used on traffic lights.
In my experience it won't glow, but then again the two CMF ghost legs seem to glow because of the colored dye, not the polycarbonate. Changes in production materials might result in a lot more pieces becoming UV reactive in the future.
>>5664570
Huh, that's odd. He does look trans-light/fluorescent green on the package, but he's just trans-green in person. I thought it was a manufacturing error, but looking up both Slimers, from the Fun Pack and the Firehouse, the Firehouse Slimer is trans-light/fluorescent green with a different print... Guess that's for the sake of variety.
>>5664567
What kind of glue are we talking here. Elmer's or Kragle?
>>5664372
Thanks for the guide and advice! I need more lights, but this is kinda promising.
>>5664567
It's hard, but not impossible. Is it glued using Official Lego Kragle, or Super Glue, or hot glue?
I know the kind of Kragle Lego uses gets pretty easy to pull apart when soaked in water at 160F/61C. GET A THERMOMETER. And something to pull them out with. The water won't quite burn you, but it's not real comfortable to stick your hands in.
>>5663600
>As for the set, I like it. It is a bit lacking, but the minifigures and set pieces do well. Definitely has a well thought out balance between play and design you can build on if you wanted to.
Thanks anon, I'll probably be hanging around in the Lego threads more often these days. I'm definitely into the set mostly for the figures, but the Quinjet looks good. I'd probably just try to modify it to fit more people instead of shooting missiles
>>5664583
Note: I got this info from The Brick Blogger.
Dot Com.
/2011/01/lego-glued-magnet-removal/
>>5664581
>>5664583
Listing doesn't say. I assume worst-case super glue power.
Fuck it. I want it bad enough. If I can't take it apart without destroying, I'll live with it.
>>5664591
The quinjet is pretty cool. It has a back hatch that folds down, however it's essentially a door to a wall. Moding it would take some work, but you could probably fit in a good cargo section and/or some seats without the gun housing as it really should be. I do like how the gun does slide up and tuck away as it is though, so I'll lazily keep mine as is.
Oddly, it's this set that really sparked my desire to jump back into the hobby. I guess once you break spending just $30 a year on a small set things go down the slope pretty fast. That and my other hobbies are getting excessively expensive with less time to spend on them.
>>5664598
Go for it. I've got a couple of store displays (Don't tell Lego, but our vendor is awesome), and I've been working bit-by-bit on unKragling them. There are some pieces that it hasn't worked too well on, but it's fun experimenting.
Hopefully you'll get a small build to test on first.
>>5664528
It came with TWO.
They're like 11c on Bricklink. Go get you some.
>>5664622
I love it when the "extras in case you lose one" parts include something like that. It's like christmas for your minifigures, or MOC madness.

Eh, it's a bit of a toss up, since you can't really do much better than a clip or so at this scale.
So are we going to get any more civil war sets? I need that new Spider-Man as a minifig.
Now that Disney Infinity is dead, ehat are the chances we get some SW or Marvel stuff in the next wave of Dimensions?

>>5665090
>Nice use of roller skates for the eyes. Are these yours?
Yeah, about a year and a half ago, the Brikwars forums got a bit crazy with crossing LDD Microspace Battles and Evangelion...
I don't remember if that basic frame was original or not, this picture it certainly wasn't, but I knew when I saw the studs on the underside of the skates that they'd make great Unit 2 eyes.
>>5665090
Top of the spigot under the hole of the SNOT piece and have the nozzle face away from the stud, then put the nocs on so that the bigger end is facing either side. I mean no wrong way to do it it should sit flush.
>>5665101

But what's the second suit supposed to be? I thought you'd originally wanted a Guncannon or GM type suit, but it's got actual eyeballs and a V-fin. Keep it up, anyways.
>>5665165
I'm just gonna say that if you want those legs to bend on those 1x1 round balljoints without pushing the plates they're sitting on away you're going to have to add some 1x1 round studs.
>>5665177
There is actually less friction on the stud to stud connection of the maxifig hand than the balljoint, so it pivots along that axis instead.
Aw nice, more brick Evas! Here's a Unit-02 I made last year.
>>5665191
>that head
CAW
>>5665191
>>5665185
True, but I was mainly bringing it up because the female joints on the guy's EVA's legs are arrayed such that he gets much less flexibility out of them.
On an unrelated note, I don't get Evangelion. Perhaps it's because I haven't watched it, but have watched a wide medley of other mecha shows.
>>5665193
I should probably replace her elbows and knees at some point, but I'm still satisfied with the way she turned out.
>>5665195
I would say go watch it.
But keep in mind that the mechas aren't the main focus there.
What is your thoughts of yellow vs fleshie?
and where can I get an official lego cleaver for my biker custom?
>>5665200
Don't really care. I prefer yellow, and don't really feel like mixing them if I build something, but my SW fig collection with fleshies is cool too.
>>5665200
I think there was a blindbag butcher figure that came with one.
>>5665200
>official lego cleaver
Butcher, CMF Series 06.
Also, I don't mind fleshie, I think it's reasonable to expect realistic skin colors in licensed sets. My only problem with it is that sometimes the plastic doesn't match up with their skin tone (ie. SW Clones and Fetts should have the Medium Nougat color, but always use Nougat).
For MOCs that aren't connected to licenses, I still use yellow.
>>5665199
I should, but I keep on feeling like I'm already set up to dislike it.
Call it bad taste but I feel like my experience would be warped by it being a "babby's first" anime, a casual fling. Like, I've watched and am watching 70's anime, 80's and 90's stuff, and would like to delve into what I can of manga of those eras as well, and alongside that cartoons and comics from all over but for all that I feel like I'd be doing myself some kind of disservice by watching EVA. Same deal for something like TTGL or FLCL; I feel like there's something hanging in the air about them that makes me feel like I'd be doing something low.
I need to put this attitude away and watch EVA eventually, because it's a toxic attitude, but do I really want to watch EVA when I could be watching Patlabor or Mazinger or Daitarn?
>>5665200

Was good to see your neat oldschool racecars brought to life and look for little gags. A tip i heard from other brickfilm masters was that they use tape to secure their baseplates when working on them so they don't accidentily move when being handled.
About the speed i probably agree with the other anon, the music being slower paced helps. Surely you've gotta stick to the sounds that float your own boat ofcourse , but since you're into aylmao music here's another tune

Bricklink color names, which are often more logical or obvious than offical names.
>>5665522
BL names can be more logical, but they sometimes also lump different colors under one name. It can be annoying, particularly with the various metallic colors.
>>5665350
nougat = light flesh (most white characters)
medium nougat = flesh (pig color, white NBA figs)
medium dark flesh (indians in lone ranger sets)
dark flesh (there's a single minifig head that uses this color)
reddish brown (current brown color used for black characters)
>>5665530
>various metallic colors

You should use those little ice cream pieces stacked on top of each other to prevent the dildo effect.
http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=6254&name=Ice%20Cream%20Scoops&category=%5BFood%20&%20Drink%5D#T=C
These pieces also have a really neat bonus in that they stack on each other very easily, and can be wiggled around. Some people use them for smoke trails, and to great effect. Since you're going for ice cream, make a precarious ice cream tower.
>>5665748
yeah those smoke trails look great, i don't have any of those though so i use the poor mans method. I also just realized you can't see the icecream cone in the pic so that might have something to do with the dildoness of it all.
