Yeah, but would they rerelease it, or will the "bottom half" wanking never be fully brought into play in the story?
>>
>>5640249
If they really make the new Vahi piece compatible with the old one, I hope they reprint it for the sake of newer fans and include it in another set, and this is coming from someone who already has both the golden and orange iterations of it.
>>
>>5640276
If anything, I'd like a version of the old Vahi in Warm Gold; the previous one was from before they implemented it.
>>
>>5639806
if G1 and G2 are connected, how? G2 cleary isn't the past or the future.

Another timeline could be the explanation. But why was only 'half a mask' created in each respective universe?
>>
>>5640283
It was mentioned that the mask can connect to "the Past, the Future, and even faraway Realms", and there have been a couple impliances that this is another universe altogether. There's still a lot we don't know yet, though. I'm thinking around the end of the journey we'll probably learn what's really going on; maybe the truth is this generation's answer to the Mata Nui Robot, as far as big twists go.

Sure we did. But keep in mind that

1: Kids these days don't want to pay an arm and a leg online to have a piece of plastic from before they were born just so their Toa can wear a pretty mask.
2: Unless they do very good job on molding the new one, the old one will have some issues with connecting properly.
3: Lego doesn't do old gold anymore, meaning that old gold Vahi would look dumb connected to pearl gold top half.

Unpopular opinion but I actually really like the new boxes. They aren't as functional or cool as the canisters but they're perfect for display if you tuck in the flaps and flatten them with weights.
>>
>>5640049
I love the way they say it, how they basically deny any possibility and say how it will never be linked as though they know this for a fact. They get so mad about it too, like they are being insulted directly when people claim the possibility of a continuation.

I think we might get the first half of the Vahi in the winter along with the second half AND the MoUP in the summer.

IF it really is going to be the end, an epic battle between the true Mask of Time and the unleashed potential of the Mask of Ultimate Power would be one hell of a way to send it off.
>>
>>5640671
Canisters were the shit, but I'm pretty happy with the new boxes as well. It's nice that they tried to emulate the design a bit at least.
They also take up way less space, which is great because I'm really not sure if I could have found any way to keep around a bunch of G2 canisters in addition to the old ones.
>>
>>5640671
I found tucking in all the flaps stresses or flat out rips some of the corners. I'd like to do that, but I don't want to fuck up the cardboard, personally.

Ended up getting the LoSS after all, couldn't say no at $8. I'm pleasantly surprised, a lot of what I heard made it sound like a pretty awful set, but I'm really digging it. Function is okay but looks cool, makes me think of a facehugger. And the amount/variety of parts in this guy are great, he'll be valuable for builds down the line.

>tfw got the gold Vahi from a comic

It was a gold mine. They had stuff like infected Hau Nuva, Avohkii and disk of time and then they had boring stuff like Krana checklist, Kadin and Elda.
>>
>>5640918
Haven't checked gold Vahi prices since I already have one somewhere, but cheapest orange one on BL is 15€ from Russia.
>>
>>5640923
I couldn't tell you about gold, mine was orange.
>>
>tfw don't know what G1 stuff I should collect

Only thing I know is golden original Kanohi, but after that I don't know. Getting full sets of them is tempting, but it would cost a small fortune and take up so much room. Never had interest in krana, kraata or kanoka, except maybe the great ones but even those are way rare for what they are.

Maybe I should just settle for golden ones, and then the rare promotional Kanohi.
>>
>>5640904
They aren't official, it's just a prototype a team of people made for a project.

Remember those were given away with book packs at one point. But they eventually ran out of them, so later down the line the books came packaged with Lhikan's Hau instead. Then they ran out of those too.

My books came with Takua's mask because I bought them so late.

>>

>>
>>5640971

>>
>>5640841
I'll probably start with whatever I feel like making, though for relevance I'll try to have a full set of the 2015 toa masks available at some point.

My current completed molds are:
Mask of Fire
Mask of Water (needs to be remade honestly)
Protector Mask
Kulta's Skull
Kakama
Krana Bo

Think I might make a Vahi mold next.

Any mask in particular you want to see? I have the original pieces of almost all of them, except for some of the more recent reboot ones.

>>5640998
If anything there's just going to be a mask of time with a stylized version of the vahi as a part of it, and nothing else.
>>
So I'm curious of two things.

One, why would LEGO give us a mask of Time in set form, if we're supposed to get the MoUP next year? Could it be possible they're extending the line? I'm leaning towards no and assume that if the MoT is released, it'd be in the winter with the heroes (similar to the MoC) and we'd get the MoUP with Makuta in the summer. Share your thoughts on this.

Second, does anyone else doubt we'd even get two parts to the MoT if it's released? I feel like the reference to being half a mask is simply a nod to the G1 Vahi. If you think about it, with the way masks connect to the G2 heads, it's impossible for them to construct two masks that can be worn separately and then combine to form a single piece. I bet it's just going to be a mask where the jaw is exposed, juxtaposing the exposed noggin look we got with the original.
>>
>>5641006
True, I'll definitely be doing stuff like that since that's the kind of thing that pretty much anyone would buy.

No idea how I'm going to get smooth metallic colors, though. I've tried mica powder and it came out looking like the color of golden pantyhose or something.
>>
>>5641023
We'll probably get the mask of time in winter and the mask of ultimate power in summer, or something.
>>
>>5641024
Shame, you could probably rake in some money with PLG Ignika masks. Any luck with transparent masks, or are they still bubbly as hell? Not that those weren't radical, just that if you're going for replicas those obviously wouldn't cut it.

Well I did find a type of transparent resin which is intended for use as a table surface coating. It's thicker and if mixed carefully, has no bubbles.

The mask of water that I posted and the transparent figure in this image were made with it. Doesn't seem to be very sprue-friendly but at least I can get it to work with the masks.

>>
>>5640950
Just get whichever has the most emotional/nostalgia value for you. I'd guess that a majority of people who buy old Bonkles order their favorite sets because it reminds them of simpler and happier times.

>Making up any excuse
Um. What?

You do realize the Vahi was discussed as being the top half of G1's since the NYCC at which G2 was revealed, right? Plus, you remember all the Easter eggs of the G1 Vahi from the animations, correct?

It's not like Lego is shoehorning this shit at the last minute to appease fans. I'm personally not jumping to any conclusions by suggesting a definitive connection myself, but whatever Lego is planning on doing with the Mask of Time (both the new top half, AND old bottom half), it was planned from the beginning.

Not that guy you're responding to, but is it so hard to think that while they were sitting down and going through the various elements of G1 that they could incorporate into G2, they looked at the Vahi and said "Hey, wouldn't it be neat to make a new Vahi? How about a top half instead of a bottom half?" and then they put the easter eggs in simply to hype the new mask?

Like, I get they've been laying hints, but it could just be for the hype and the whole incorporation of the Vahi is just for novelty's sake.

Similar to how the one legendary mask we never got in set form in G1 was the Mask of Creation. Then Ekimu just so happens to wear the Mask of Creation, even though it's clearly not the same mask as Artakha's.

tl;dr the G2 Mask of Time is a recycled idea, with a new spin. It's a play on it's former iteration and that's all LEGO is saying to the fans. Like, "Get ready, you guys are getting a new Vahi!"
>>

It would be nice to get some of the mnog matoran masks, like the black rau and red ruru.

Lime tohunga feet would be cool too, but they might be a bit to brittle?
>>

Because it would've costed a lot more, thus leading to a smaller piece count for the sets.
>>
>>5641251
Huh, I didn't even think about the tohunga, will keep those in mind.

I don't think the feet would be brittle, but they might be too 'soft'. I imagine they would be fine as long as long as there isn't a ton of weight being put on them.

Is it me or is Pohatu the favoured G2 character?

>LEGO says "fuck it, stone sets sell like turds"
>They bring back Pohatu only because they have to
>He is a lost cause, so they let the project developers do as they like with him
>Stone is brown again
>Pohatu receives exclucive weapons and unique design elements (greaves/thigh high boots and fashionable asymmetry)
>Pohatu receives a more unique (aussie accent) and appealing personality (the brooding loner who thinks)
>Pohatu is ascended from a supporting team member to the team's vanguard, powerhouse and occasional leader

There's only three parts that would prevent Pohatu from soloing the first year.
1)The Skull Scorpions
2)Awakening Ekimu
3)Fighting Kulta

Though I wouldn't be surprised if the toa suffer from the ninja principle. One ninja is dangerous. A group of ninjas is mook fodder. After all, the toa's tactic was to mob rush Kulta.
Maybe Kulta wouldn't put on the mask if he was confronted by a single toa. Or maybe Pohatu would cut loose and literally bring the house down on the Skull Grinder if he were alone.

Sadly, Pohatu lost a lot of his charm in JtO both as a set and a character. But even so, he was one of the three characters who could had passed the sea without the aid of his creature, he was the only toa to (briefly) possess the MoCo, and he was the only one to land a hit on Umarak. It was a great scene too.

Also he and Lewa received the lion's share of the spotlight.
I wonder why he isn't everyone's favourite toa.

I haven't been here since early 2016 can anyone explain what connection do G1 and G2 have? And what's with the Vahi?

There isn't any connection so far. The comics just revealed that there's a top half of a Mask of Time called Vahi in G2, so it can be theorized that the G1 Vahi is the lower half, and the two are in alternate dimensions or something.

Nothing. I'd like to see that change, but the main storytelling platform of 2015, basically the only visual form of media representing that scene, and the novel directly contradict such a dramatic transformation.

I have no problem with the idea, in fact I'll welcome it, but until it's more concrete than simply "word of mouth" it's sure as hell not undeniably canon.

At least one of those powers is shattering masks in one hit.

[CITATION NEEDED]

Moving into late 2016 the theme has got some great momentum. Are you NOT excited for an apocalyptic war where Okoto goes to shit and is overrun with hellspawn armies of darkness? That's your problem, buddy.

Plus, all warnings of the reboot's demise next year are just frantic doomsayer theories.
>>
>>5645639
>Are you NOT excited for an apocalyptic war where Okoto goes to shit and is overrun with hellspawn armies of darkness?

If that's what it was, then yes, I'd be very hyped for it. But you forgot one key detail. It's going to be outrageously kid friendly. There will be no permanent effects, there will be no character deaths, there will be more plot holes than actual plot, there will be the same dry humor in JtO as the first season, there will be no major support by Lego, and all the sets for the summer are frankly garbage.
>>
>>5645665
>>5645665
Lemme guess, you were an edgy '06-'08 Bionicle kid?
>There will be no permanent effects, there will be no character deaths
Nothing but assumption.
>there will be more plot holes than actual plot
Oh, so like. About a third (AT LEAST) of G1? Need I remind you of the Bohrok Kal saga, for example?
>and all the sets for the summer are frankly garbage
Opinion.

I think you've just outgrown Bionicle there, anon. It's okay to admit it. But don't drag the rest of the fanbase up with you or patronize those of us still enjoying ourselves with your generalizations.
>>
>>5645700
Different anon. I agree that G1 had a lot of plot holes, but were the Kal one of them? They served to ensure that the Queens keep running the swarm while they were active.
>>
>>5645767
I think the whole thing about the Nuva symbols and all of their silly shenanigans were the plot hole that anon was talking about.
>>
>>5645700
It's likely we get to say goodbye for Umarak at least.
>>
Is it just me, or has the time between wave releases feel...Shorter? Though, I haven't visited much of the Bionicle community in months so I haven't been thinking about Bionicle.
>>
>>5645789
The older you get, the faster time seems to flow.
>>
>>5645700
That anon has a point though. I've been trying to get exited for the new storyline, but there's very little substance.
It's not bad just...not that good. Everything is still generic and watered-down.
The sets are solid, don't get me wrong. But the story and setting isn't doing a good job of convincing us to buy them.
>>
>>5645808
How an apocalypse initiated by Umarak's cum isn't convincing enough?
>>

Oh no, I don't deny that he had a point or two. But implying that the Bionicle community is objectively "grabbing at strings" and rationalizing because that's the only possible way we can be enjoying the material given to us is just wrong. It's selfish to suggest that the line is "better off cancelled" when plenty of fans are clearly liking what it has to offer. The only fact in the matter is that all perspective on the situation is suggestive. It seems obvious, but some people just need to be reminded that their opinion isn't actually fact.
>>
>>5645779
Well hey, Kulta is apparently still alive, so who knows? I'm honestly hoping Ekimu gets axed soon. If 2017 really is the final year, it would add some excellent drama to the Toa's mission. They couldn't beat Skull Grinder or Umarak without his help and now they have to take on Makuta himself without the Mask Maker's guidance? Shit just got real, dawg.

Probably won't turn out that way, though. Shame.
>>
>>5645665
>there will be no character deaths
Like in gen 1? First deaths were Jaller and Takanuva on 2003, and they were resurrected five minutes later.

Then there were some deaths here and there on Metru, but the real bloodbath started after 2006. And even then most of those were rendered pointless thanks to that stupid fucking retcon that Red Star is limbo where all the dead people go to get repaired and then they are sent back.
>>
>>5645902
I don't know. He's the wise old mentor of the group (like Obi-Wan and Han Solo), so I wouldn't put it past them to axe him off. I could see Makuta killing him.

That, or he sacrifices himself to destroy MoUP for good or something
>>
>>5645952
Well, ideally I'd want him to sacrifice himself in defeating Umarak the Destroyer. Then like, Makuta regains the MoCtrl, takes the Mask of Creation, and soon finds the MoUP too. Just to fuck over the odds our heroes have to overcome even more. Give reason for the Toa to seek the other half of the Vahi because the Mask of Time's combined power is the only way to defeat Makuta who has all three legendary masks.

THAT'S the kind of final showdown I want to see.

Not that guy, but c'mon. An apocalypse is a world-ending event. If the issue at hand is dealt with quickly and without consequences then it's a crisis at best.
I don't expect LEGO to kill anyone, but I'd prefer it if next year Okoto was a wasteland overrun by weird monsters and the good guys were the resistance.
If it were me then first half would have new Protector small sets as the good guys. The medium sets would represent six different kinds of army building monsters.

The plot would be that everything went to shit and the protectors set out to find out what happened to the toa. They'd discover that the toa were defeated and trapped in six prisons that absorb their elemental power and place it in six masks. The first half would end with the protectors (or liberators) freeing the toa.

The second half's sets would be the six toa plus a Makutitan. The toa's new form would be blamed on the prisons' mutative/corruptive properties. The weakened (maybe edgish/"corrupt") toa would have to find the aforementioned masks, get strong again and face Makuta's final form.

Dude, aren't you sick and and tired of the "good always wins" trope? It's not about edge as much as adding a plot twist and shaking things up.
Plus, a good display on the hero's part requires a competent villain.
For example, how are you going to hype people about Goku if he swoops in, defeats the big bad with one punch and then fucks off? Where's the flying, the punching, the beams and shit?

>Your story is dumb.

Course it is. It's limited by LEGO's crippling moral issues. But I think it does a good job explaining having to look for the golden masks for once.

To be fair, the Kal saga was more or less quickly slapped together filler, not something that should be used as a measure of overall storytelling quality, and "but G1 had bad stuff too" is kind of a shaky argument (granted, you were already responding to somewhat shaky arguments to begin with).

On one hand:

a)The Mask of Ultimate Power is (briefly and partially) physically shown in Makuta's hands during the graphic novel: it has a dark red top and is sort of scaly, a far cry from the smooth and gold Vahi upper half.
b)Each Mask has vastly different and unrelated powers compared to the other.

On the other hand:

a)The G1 Vahi lower half was made from six elements, like the Mask of Ultimate Power.
b)The G2 Vahi upper half has six spikes on its sides, akin to sun rays, like the Mask of Ultimate Power.

I can't stop wondering about Umarak's alt mask. Something tells me that Ekimu will use it to somehow awaken Umarak's free will. Maybe it's red because of Makuta's shadow influence. The mask itself kinda looks like the MoUP in the comic.

>every single question
Eh. Not quite. Although I guess MOST of what we don't know now can be chalked up to "~MYYYSTERYYY!~"
>>
>>5646608
It makes a little more sense in context, Makuta spent the graphic novel trying to make masks with multiple elements that could be used by the common folk, not just protectors, and could be used for things like the forestry industry.

>>5646613
I dont know, graphic novel answered a lot of shit, like the whole "do the masks have powers or the toa have powers?' question, as well as shit like why the golden masks look exactly like the masks the Toa came with, what was up with the crystals, and how the island had "elemental regions" (which also get names) even before the islands geography was fucked (as it was all jungle before the battle of the mask makers).

What kinds of questions arent answered by the graphic novel?
>>
>>5646608
Its pretty clear that Umarak's mask isnt the MoUP, since we already know what power Umarak's mask has. Though no idea what is up with the alternate version.
>>
>>5646625
>What kinds of questions arent answered by the graphic novel?
-What does the Mask of Control ACTUALLY do?
-Also, what does the Mask of Creation ACTUALLY do either, besides allows the user to make pretty shit?
-Who forged those Legendary Masks?
-Also, who forged the Golden Masks of Unity? Those had to have existed at this point.
-Where the fuck did the Skeletmen come from, and who were they before? How and where did they find the Mask of Creation when it's been remarkably elusive for like 1000 years?
-Where did LoSS come from?
-What about the Mask of Skull Spiders?
-How is Makuta able to influence all of this shit from beyond the grave?
-Etc, etc, etc.

Again, a lot of this might be answered later, or isn't exactly relevant to the plot threads of this novel. But saying it has solved basically "every single question and plot hole" is a pretty big stretch.

>-Also, what does the Mask of Creation ACTUALLY do either, besides allows the user to make pretty shit?
Second book indicates one can use it to create things, one example was Ekimu saying he could use the mask to make a replacement bridge to the City

>-Who forged those Legendary Masks?
Stated not to be the Mask Makers, but hard to say if they will answer this in the future

>-Also, who forged the Golden Masks of Unity? Those had to have existed at this point.
See Above

>-Where the fuck did the Skeletmen come from, and who were they before? How and where did they find the Mask of Creation when it's been remarkably elusive for like 1000 years?
Mask of Creation was stuck on a pedestal in the city of the mask makers bridge, the skeletons and skull spiders were just made active just a short time before the Toa arrived, they already had control of the ancient city at this time. Skeletons are likely revived Okotans who were brought to life via Kulta's mask. But yeah we werent told much of this

>-Where did LoSS come from?
True enough, another thing we dont know, possibly a creation of Makuta, but then again we didnt know where a lot of G1 characters came from either

>-What about the Mask of Skull Spiders?
Pretty sure that is confirmed non-canon at this point.

>-How is Makuta able to influence all of this shit from beyond the grave?
Well we see that he has transcended to some sort of omnipresent entity or something since he appears several times in Journey to One, so he is clearly capable of giving commands, how this is achieved isnt known, but probably will be explained once he awakens.

I suppose it didn't answer "every question', but it answered a lot of the really weird sorta open ended questions people figured were plot holes before.

>>
>>5646816
Nobody has any idea at the moment. The second name is their actual name, but what the hell is the first thing.
>>
>>5646821
The first name is the village they come from. So Flammik would be the village of fire.
>>
>>5646745
Like you saw with Kulta, Mask of Creation also enlarges it's user and amplifies it's powers if one so wants.

Seems to me Ekimu just took that switch on.
I wonder if there's a drawback to it. Like it consumes his life force or something.
>>
>>5646798
Are they supposed to be dead villagers? Okotoan could easily refer to anyone living on the island, including animals.

Slicer was a former arena champion, but was he one of the villagers or a different race altogether? And then Basher, Scorpio, and the Warriors could very well be recomposed animal and people skeletons since all they need are generic, presumably powerless, masks for any sort of identity.

Unless you mean Okotoans as in everything on the island in general, then yes to that.

>>5646841
I think just living longer than people you've met and made relationships with and having to watch them pass away is drawback enough.
>>
>>5646774
>Mask of Creation was stuck on a pedestal in the city of the mask makers bridge, the skeletons and skull spiders were just made active just a short time before the Toa arrived
No, that's sort of what I'm talking about. And it's a huge hole. Look, it took the Protectors 1000 years to find the six golden masks scattered across the island and hide them from evil in preparation to summon the Toa. That is one hell of an Easter egg hunt. Are we to assume that they couldn't find the Mask of Creation in that whole time? And if they DID, the dumbasses just placed it on a pedestal right in the fucking open? No. That's stupid. We're told in the Protector's Guide that the dying Forge led to infestation of dark powers pretty early on, driving out the residents into other parts of the island. What is that referring to if not the Skull Spiders? And if the Skull Spiders have been around for this long, it makes more sense that they're the ones who found the mask and placed in on the pedestal. I just have a really tough time believing that was recently, seeing as the Protectors searched every god damn inch of the island themselves for six other masks and never came across it; it had to have been kept from them. And if the Skull Spiders have had possession of the Mask of Creation for this long, and are also under the influence of Makuta. Why the fuck hasn't that mask been destroyed by this point?
Furthermore, with SO many parties who have been given WAY too much time to search for these masks, why has nobody come across the MoUP either? Who’s keeping that one away from everyone’s Easter basket?

>inb4 "Okoto is a big place"
Yeah? And a THOUSAND YEARS is a long ass time. Especially when over the entire duration, the Protectors have been actively searching for these masks.
>>
>>5646831
That isn't confirmed though. It's just a theory, albeit a pretty good one. I think Ryder might have to clarify this at some point so we can be sure.
>>
>>5646831
The problem with that is that the villages are still unnamed on the map >>5646361
My first idea was formal titles (like Turaga but one term per element), but the rest of the GN has them being called "Protector of X" several times, so that seems unlikely as well.
>>
>>5646925
Huh. You know, that point made me realize the seeming lack of diverse culture on Okoto. On Mata Nui, and even Metru Nui, every tribe from each region was very distinct with particular skills and practices. The villagers of Okoto just sorta seem a little generic.
>>
>>5646872
The villagers probably assumed it was in the city of the Mask Makers, and if the Skull Spiders had indeed been around for a while and they were the ones who found it, there was no damn way the islanders would be able to get it. Keep in mind that they were being constantly raided and villages were reduced to nothing because of the hordes. The Protectors throughout the generations could have just as easily said fuck the MoCr since one, it's powers couldn't even help them that well, and two, the one guy who could potentially use it for the better of the island was basically dead.

They could have simply just prioritized the Toa since they were the only ones who could get even close to retrieving it.

Also, with what the MoUP did to the island, they probably didn't even want to try looking for it because bad juju. Watch it be underground beneath the volcano or some shit next year too.
>>
>>5646970
Also, I theorized that the spiders were just too dumb to properly dispose of the mask, so they just guarded it until Makuta got the strength to create a proper slave to dispose of it.
>>
>>5646872
With any luck, the skelly backstory in the third chapter book will get into how Kulta found the Mask of Creation in the first place. That he just so happened to have it and was about to melt it down the exact moment the Toa came across Ekimu is still my biggest problem with the 2015 story.

It's been six days or so and the trans-blue mask of water keeps it's shape, but is still kind of gummy and weak. Pic related though, without pigment, was fine in three days. >Implying capitalism is bad

I was kinda pulling your leg with this one. Capitalism is amoral at best. It's about the redistribution of wealth and power to a select few. It deals with the individual as workforce and as a consumer.
I'm all for benevolent tyranny but you have no guarantee that the tyrants will be benevolent and no way to take their power away.

>Implying you don't just think it looks evil because of media tropes

We are instictively alarmed by the dark, unclear features and unnatural phenomena. The MoUP looks like a pair of predatory eyes staring at you from the dark, just like a nigger. It's also on fire, and as if that weren't enough, the fire is made of writhing shadow rather than light.
It's sick though. I'd totally wear one.

>Implying that was a villianous speech

"I'm sorry my brother couldn't be here too, because I have quite the surprise for you!". You can almost see his eye twitch behind his mask. If I were an Okotoan, I'd be surprised he didn't pull a mass murder-suicide with whatever he had in the box.
I mean, even if people didn't know Makuta is a bitter second banana, he still works with world-altering forces alongside his brother. Why did he work in secret with such forces if not to create something that will either bring or end dire times?

Ekimu saw the Toa in the vision he got when he put on the Vahi, and then was given powerful elemental crystals (mask batteries) from the creature temples, and forged masks out of them in the image of what he saw in his vision.

So it says on one of the Bionicle wikis that Umarak's mask is this generations Mask of Shadow. Has this been confirmed? If so that's pretty badass and actually makes sense considering all his powers are shadow based. It beats being just the Hunter's Mask.

Also, I'm theorizing that the beasts, being that they are confirmed hordes, are actually Umarak's copies/shadow traps that have evolved due to the corruption he himslef has suffered through the MoC. I mean, their masks even look like warped renditions of his original mask.

And I just wanted to point out that Lava Beast's shadow trap piece looks like it represents a tuft of plumage on his neck, like a vulture or some shit.

Lego store employees are usually really nice. They'll be pricing them up for release on the 31st, so if they have them in the system then they'll probably be allowed to go grab one from the store room and sell it to you.

That's what happened for me on the 31st of December

Lucky you. Here in Finland we still have bunch of Vader, Grievous and Obi-wan for full price.

And one store has some master-Lewa for full price as well.

I've only just realised why Ekimu's mask is all translucent rather than two-tone. It's to set himself apart from the Toa.

Back in G1, Takanuva was the only Toa which featured gold - and even though the others had gold masks, he had a shade of it all his own.
Of course these days Lego can't make a whole new colour for the sake of one figure - so, rather than having the focus be his gold, the focus is his trans-light blue (which Gali and Kopaka now have less of than their 2015 incarnations). Where the others are metallic, he is crystalline.
>>
>>5651686
That's what happens when they make Tahu the gold one.
>>
>>5651464
I wonder how /toy/ is going to fix the 2nd wave 2016 sets.

I mean. the things they did for Lewa and Pohatu that year were pretty much perfect.

...still trying to figure out how to un-gold Tahu 16...like...keep it to the levels of Tahu 15, but that torso shell is making that a bitch to do.
>>
>>5651795
what fixes did they do for Lewa and Pohatu?
>>
>>5651795
I already have an idea for Ekimu: drop the gearbox and give him Tahu's shoulder build, and make all of his bones trans light blue. His legs would either need Kopaka's 6M bones or a friction extender in the ankles, maybe both.

Lava Beast needs something to fill in the space under his neck, like a Uniter piece, and also fix his lower legs because I'm positive his arms are longer than his legs, even if he's supposed to be birdlike.

Will need to see more of those advanced reviews to even get an idea of what the other sets need.

>>5651869
Mostly shoulder fixes. Lewa's is supper simple with the addition of hordika necks and CCBS bone upper arms, although anons have made a bunch of different mods for Pohatu.

>>5651437
In western Canada, they seem to be doing pretty badly. Normally I'd be disappointed, but I already have Grievous, and he's my favourite star wars character, so it doesn't really matter.

They're making at least 3 more for rogue one, and Boba's almost guaranteed.

Some others I would really want would be any of delta squad, Sidon Ithano, HK-47, Revan, or Bossk, and Bossk is the only one out of those that even have the slightest chance of getting a set, unless Ithano unexpectedly has a huge role in rogue one.

here's an example from my Pohatu.

Lewa has a similar fix involving a couple of Hordika necks.

the rest of the Toa just needed either re-shelling or longer limbs. especially Gali.

the 2016 sets look either poorly made, or just have some REALLY bizzare builds.

Why their ultra builds are selling so Horribly, including bonkles?
>>
>>5652116
Force Awaken has much less appeal than Star Wars in general, and due to pricces for everything here being so high, people actually understand when something looks overpriced.

And fucking hell the prices for SW constarction here are so ridiculous I've only gotten Grievious and Darth Vader, sets that don't feel the price is racked up your ass just for extra shekels
>>
>>5652133
>the price is racked up your ass just for extra shekels

I misread that as Kekels.

also, pretty much on point. it's worse that these sets refuse to ever go on clearance so you're stuck paying $25 for a $15 set. fuck.
>>
>>5652108

I'm going to use the paper template on eva foam, as it seems it would hold up a lot better. Also your kakama looks pretty sweet
>>
>>5647303
Maybe I was trying to make it sound cringeworthy. after all, even if I get everthing looking 100% awesome, no one is going to think I'm cool because I have a wearable replica of a mask from a children's toy
>>
>>5652326
Probably a better idea, though folding it into the right shape might be a pain. I used cardstock as a base (the pakari added a few layers of some other stuff to give it a little more strength). I would have used better materials if time/money were a little more available at the time, though that's what I intend to do with the kakama (and the rest of the masks when I make them down the line).
>>
About the prices of SW constraction figs:
How much are those Black Series SW figures normally when not racked up by scalpers?

Looking at Amazon right now, they seem to be about the same price but also a lot smaller at 6inches and well, "just" action figures.
Meanwhile, the Lego figs are much taller, are built with pieces that are compatible with each other and normal Lego and have some action functions.
Sure, that's ignoring stuff like paint apps, individual sculpting, proportions, etc. but if I had to chose I'd actually take the Lego figure.
>>
>>5651422
Tried it. Not awful, but doesn't seem to do much for her.

More I look at her, the worse she looks, and I actually liked her when I built her. But the limb proportions look awful, the armor is super gappy, and don't even get me started on the weapon and mask. I honestly think Akida might be the only thing that can save this set, because this thing is awful.
