You could also make Dark Kobolds with this, ripping off the later dragonlance books. Kobolds grow by killing each other and sleeping on totems of each other's skulls. As they collect other kobolds they begin to change into dragons, who continue to hunt each other ad infinitum. Personally, I like elves without hips and tits. Seems most consistent to me. Almost completely no sexual dimorphism. Don't even have names or separate pronouns for genders you're just "a person with sexual organ" because they don't assign any kind of societal connotations to it, because of how little an effect it has on their mind or body.

In my setting, Kobold is a word which means essentially "vermin folk." There are many races of Kobold that may or may not be related to each other.

Swamp Kobolds (Drakk) are draconic in appearance.

Forest Kobold (Mimig) are mammalian, essentially Cutebolds.

Plains Kobold is actually a term for Goblin that's fallen out of use.

Jungle Kobold (Pangol) are armored mammalian, pangolin style.

I haven't developed other types yet, but I imagine there would also be Mountain, Desert, and Island Kobold as well

In my setting, Goblins don't necessarily evolve, but they do get bigger.

Goblins typically lead very short lives due to exactly the reasons you would suspect, but they are in actuality effectively immortal, like lobsters. And like lobsters, they never stop growing. A goblin hits maturity at 8 years old. One that manages to live 50 years is between dwarf and human size, and if it manages to live 75 years, it matches human size. They keep growing and don't have any senescence, although malnutrition and injury can make them grow weak.

Goblin Kings can grow massive and corpulent, and there are even rumors of the Big King Under The Mountain, a 2,000 year old Goblin who would tower over the highest castle, were he not sleeping.

No idea on the bodies for them or anything, you're far better with that than anything I've ever come up with.

For fire, they could be the go-to metal workers. Maybe they'd have an innate need to affect change in things, which would lend itself to crafting professions. Fire fae and Hyppen would probably work in tandem, fire fae providing heat and generally shaping the metal while the Hyppen add finer detail and help with tempering the metal and balancing the alloy. I imagine fire fae would also make up the vast majority of fae cooks. They'd crave novelty as well, meaning they would make up most of the scholarly class as well, assuming they have the temperment.

Not sure what favor they would get from their favored spirits. Besides being fireproof, they might attract geothermal activity if I wanted to stick with the theme, keeping roads from icing in winter and crops from wilting all the way. With enough of them an entire town would basically have heated floors.

Water is a bit trickier. I imagine they'd be the most languid out of the five, very 'Go with the flow' personality type. On average they'd be a lot more agreeable than the other fae.

They'd attract water, probably. Maybe town wells are commonly found adjacent to the local water fae dwelling and any town with enough of them likely has a river running through it, even if they're in a spot that has no business being in the path of a river. I like the mental image of a river flowing sideways up a hill and into a town just because a lot of water fae happen to live there.

Abilities and affinities: probably the ability to draw potable water out of the ground at will, breathe water, they'd be great at swimming of course. They might have a sense for where large bodies of water are. For jobs I dunno. Fishermen is one. Sailor might be another but the fae kingdom is largely landlocked. It's possible that water fae are more likely to be found outside the kingdom, having obliviously drifted down a water way and eventually into the ocean. This might even be somewhat normal behavior for them.

No idea how they'll look. I'd like to try and avoid another humanoid fae for the sake of variety, or at least keep the fire and water variety very well removed from Hyppen. Water might end up as a sort of midpoint between frogs and fish, like a kappa.

Amusing thought I had: if you somehow managed it, enough fire and water fae living together would basically create a village-sized hotspring just by existing. I may need to include that as an actual location.
