Can someone post the donald krump two squiggs meme? Also, 3th for chaos!
>>
Looking over the points for the Repulsor, at around 330 pts this thing can pack two lascannons, a heavy gatling cannon, FIVE fragstorm launchers (which is 5d6 hits within 18 inches) and 2 krakstorm launchers, and maybe some other shit I'm forgetting..this thing is such a fucking beast, why even fill it up with units? if I put intercessors in there, they'll get outgunned by the onslaught cannon, if I put aggressors in there, they'll get out boltstormed by the fragstorms, I guess maybe plasma incinerators?

Also as a side note: I think taking more than one of these tanks is gonna be a dick move.
>>
alright last stupid GSC/Tyranids list idea before I go to sleep

a bunch of rock grinders special deploying along with some Tyranid psykers to cast onslaught on them.

turn 1 charges with genestealers are alright I guess, but turn 1 charges with trucks sounds cooler right?

Sup /tg/, I have had issues with 40k as a game for quite some time and upon reflection I have boiled it down to three main issues:
>There are little in game tactical decisions that help you win or lose (with most games coming down to list building and deployment.
>The crunch does not reflect the fluff very well if at all.
> The fluff is getting more and more kid-friendly with less humor and gritty grimdark.
I have gotten to the point where I have converted and collected the models that interest me within the 40k universe and have decided that it is time to move on, does anyone have suggestions for my next game system?
>>
Power fist dropped by 40%.

Very good, now I won't feel bad about putting them on my Plague Champions. Does make chainfists kinda bad. 10 points for -1ap and 2d instead of d3

>>
>>54567042
I honestly don't know why GW didn't wait to have the campaign until after at least the CSM book came out.
>>
>>54567067
So that Imperium wins...
>>
>>54567047
If you're really convinced you're going to give up I won't try and change your mind, but I think you should stick with 40k a bit longer.

My recommended wargame(s) if you do decide to change though is definitely Dropzone/Dropfleet Commander.
>>

What they literally completely the whole thing.
>>
>>54567067
So chaos doesnt win obviously?
>>
>>54567054
Chainfists are AP-4, or at least he Space Marine ones are.
>>
>>54567047
Infinity is a much more complex system, but is fairly balanced, and much more interactive (both players get to do stuff and make potentially important decisions every turn, not just their own).

However, to my knowledge their entire range is metal, which some people don't like, and it doesn't seem nearly as popular as even AoS, so if you manage to find a playgroup at all you'd be lucky if you're not just facing the same 1 or 2 guys over and over.
>>
>>54567076
The last 40k books I read where the two fenris system ones and haven't picked one up since then. They were just so... terrible.

Chaos is winning at the moment. There is a giant rift dividing the galaxy in half. All xenos are getting more dangerous and chaos is everywhere.
Imperial forces are cut off and surrounded in various places.
But at least we have Cawl tech and a Primarch,
>>
>>54567023
>drive up to target while spewing death in every direction

>>
>>54567067
So far the only Chaos lists ive seen are Magnus + spam, either Typhus and Poxwalkers or Magnus and Brimstones, its like they arent even trying, locally
>>
>>54567097
Either way the advantage is denying anything with 3+ armor saves their save and doing consistent damage. So it's more reliable damage vs a potential 1 more damage but letting more units have their armor saves..

>>54567108
The Indominus Crusade more or less stabilized everything IIRC. Chaos isn't really winning atm anymore than they already were.

So that the new edition gets a global campaign 6 weeks after launch.

I'm sure that we'll see other campaigns in the near future. GW seems to have their shit together with promoting FoK, and it sets a precedent for giving players something to fight over which isn't a massive detail that they're loathe to mess with.

Good morning Koooooooooonor!

This is your news broadcast for the last 12 hours of the campaign. It's been 24 hours and the Imperium is still holding strong. Unfortunately for us we're seeing Xenos and Chaos attacks rising across the board, with believe it or not the Xenos achieving more than Chaos in some theatres! It's true, traitor forces are taking advantage but in many warzones we're hearing of Xenos attacks breaking the line and Chaos taking advantage of the situation and flooding forwards through the holes in our defenses left behind!

Astaramis itself is still in Imperial control but Chaos and Xenos assaults are taking it's toll. We're looking at a 60/40 split in overall control of the planet.

Taking our usual closer look we can see that overnight Praxima Skyport and the Quintus gate have been battered by repeated heavy attacks, only held back by the bravery of men and women of the Imperial Guard, the Emperor's Angels of Death and the arcane machinery of the Adeptus Mechanicus. We are discouraging the spread of false rumours that Xenos were seen fighting at the side of our heroic defenders.

In a bit of good news, our faith is rewarded as the Saviour's La ding temple district is relatively untouched by fighting overnight and prayers can be heard for miles around, lifting the moral of our soldiers in such dark times. The Emperor truly protects!

This is Konor News at the 24 hour mark, goodbye and good luck out there. Kill some Traitors for us.

Not even close to WAAC. It's a mixed bunch of beepboops that have some minimal shooting from a handful of heavy weapons that have to footslog around a board to get LOS. A few can probably be taken out pretty easily by meltacide / lascannons or whatever.
4 or 5 of them are melee only and the only way they are going to get there is spend a few turns advancing.
This roster wouldn't do shit. Don't try and compare it to D Wraiths in 7e.

>>

The points per model should also read DOES NOT include weapons. Fucking FW.

They did this with the attack stat in previous editions too. Like they would include the bonus attacks in the stat block for you, then remind you that you already have the bonus attack in the weapon profile that says you get a bonus attack.
>>
>>54567978
Same goes for weapon options, so rifledreads are still a thing, strangely enough.
>>
>>54568044

Why wouldn't they be, FW makes Mortis Dreadnought rules and arms.

>Is there anything in the fluff about regular humans converting and joining a genestealer cult
Yes, all the time. Once the cult gets powerful enough it can start to persuade and sway people the old fashioned way just like normal Cults.

Thing is, as soon as those normal humans start breeding with hybrids, or get taken to see a purestrain and get the kiss, they end up infected anyway.
>>
>>54568055
Well, why exclude the option in the codex then?
>>

Every single named character has that their cost includes wargear, God-splitter is probably listed as 0 points because retards still couldn't understand that the costs were included in the character's base value. So they just list it as 0 for illiterates.
>>
>>54568079
Because the codex doesn't contain options they don't sell on the main GW site. Like the left rifleman arm that only FW and third party not-40k companies sell.

>>54567164
>I'm sure that we'll see other campaigns in the near future. GW seems to have their shit together with promoting FoK, and it sets a precedent for giving players something to fight over which isn't a massive detail that they're loathe to mess with.

I'm hoping this will be the case. Global campaigns like this are fun, and if they're more regular then it matters less how lopsided this one is turning out. It'd also mean we're more likely to see xenos getting in on the action, hell maybe even a xeno vs xeno campaign one of these days.
>>
>>54568083
CSM is before Grey Knights

We've known this for weeks now, why can't you people keep up
>>

To ensure existing models people own dont get squatted, just like they promised
>>
>>54567927
Most cult members are infected regular humans. Only firstborns are hybrids, their younger sublings are regular (already infected) humans
>>
>>54568115
For people who already had a model made that way.

They take things they no longer produce out of the Codex to discourage people from running them, but they leave the legacy rules available for the guys who already have the model. Basically, if you use the index to run your biker Librarians and Apothecarys, that's cool, that's what's intended. If you use the index to convert up a new biker Librarian/Apothecary you only have yourself to blame for needing two books for your army.
>>
>>54568185

This was pretty good.

FWIW, I'm a red shirt in [redacted], and the 4 shops around here can confirm the trend is similar to our shop; chaos and xenos wins everywhere.

My shop I know for a fact that there has been one Ultramarine win, and one IF win vs over a dozen Chaos wins (not including xenos!).

Yet Imperials are winning! Because kids coming in with painted primaris. That's literally it. A trend that will only increase now that the new wave of Primaris miniatures are on the doorstep.

You all can believe whatever you want about the "battle" but if it wasn't for 14year olds shitty painting up primaris from Dark Imperium, and the campaign was just battle results .... yikes.

Cheers!~

Hey /tg/
Painting my second model today and got some questions while it dries

>What do you use as a palette?
First model I painted using a plastic lid and had a really hard thinning and controlling the amount of paint on the brush.
Today I tried using some drawing paper and while it's far easier to control, the paint dries far quicker.

>Any tips for shading?
Might have to do with the plastic lid but had a really hard time shading details (say the shoulder) as the colour lumped together. Guess I need to get less paint and a pointier brush.

>How many layers do you usually do?
Did three layers on my first model tho it started looking a bit thicc with the last. Might get better with a better palette but we'll see. The third layer did help the models colour quite a bit so don't really wanna jump down to two.

>>54568264
You often need to replace an item the character already has so you can't give it a relic Jump Pack without it already having one etc. Don't think there's anything a Dread can use in there.

Thery weren't brood brothers but neophyte squad that had IG gear. It's even sold like that. The formation was neophyte armored claw or something like that. There are NO infected humans in the codex (they are still canon tho'). And you're right - they are covered by IG allies (in 8th ed. GSC can ally with them still in battleforged armies, even if they don't have common keyword, but IG still has to form a separate detachment).

40k is and always has been a fairly casual game system, and I'd love to expand to other games, it's just really hard to find a consistent community for any other tabletop war game. Well, except X-wing and WMH, but neither of those are particularly tactical either.

Lads, I just started 40k after having played Fantasy for quite some years, I bought the Dark Imperium starter set and began painting my Primaris as Black Templar after reading about their lore and being general badasses.
However after looking at the chapter tactics and seeing what people say about them they seem to be primarily a melee-centered army, something that the Primaris so far doesn't have a lot of. Did I fuck up by picking BT og is this salvageable?

Baking soda is HIGHLY volitile and unstable chemical that could easily gone bad and when it does, there're nothing you could do about it, your model is done, throw it to the trash. The time it affect your model varied depend on where you keep the mini.

Reivers can do melee pretty well, plus their grenades stop enemies overwatching and drop their WS by -1 for the first round of combat. There should have been a rule where if Xenos wins they take it away from whichever faction they beat instead of them choosing.

Saw someone at my GW playing Sisters. A model fell from the top floor of a tower, arm broke clean off the fucking thing.

Now I understand the call for plastic Sisters. It was horrifying to watch. Sister Players, you have my sympathies. I'm sorry I was so blind.
>>
>>54567715

I can't find the fluff but I remember reading a while ago about the black legion learning the secrets to making berserkers, and in a recent white dwarf they covered painting Iron Warriors Plague Marines, so it's probably OK to run a pure BL while still having god specific units
>>
>>54569253
He's going to get better advice in there than the grey tide having fuckers in this shithole; I'm doing anon a favour by pointing him in the right direction
>>
>>54569320
Just glue the arm back on? People want plastic sisters so they're easier to model with, not because they have no structural integrity. Also some morons think the high cost is due to them being metal, despite metal guardsmen squads being half the price and plastic scions being more for 10.
>>
>>54567715

The Black Legion is Abaddons personal troupe, and as he's exalted as the...'Warmaster of Chaos', it's not unlikely that his legion has its own Berserkers, Plague Marines and Noise Marines, with them forsaking their old allegiances and throwing their lot in with the BL.

While that means they wouldn't be original Luna Wolves, they'd still be members of the BL., even if newly indoctrinated.

Not sure if that logic works with Rubrics, however.

When the new primaris stuff is out, will it be possible to run a competitive primaris only force?

I'm playing just with the dark imperium stuff, but the guys I'm playing against have a lot more invested in the hobby with stuff like contemptor dreads and hordes of ork boyz

I'm hoping that the redemptor will give my force more ability to deal with heavier units, and aggressors will counter the ork hordes, what do you think?
>>
>>54569463
>will it be possible to run a competitive primaris only force?

not with how expensive they are to run

>>
>>54569463

Chads are supplementary to basic Marines, they're too expensive to run solo purely because 8e endorses 'Death by a million pinpricks". You'll be swarmed off the board even by basic Marines.
>>
>>54569456
I'd bet actual money they get the exact same bonus as the Ultramarines Chapter Tactic.
>>
>>54569463
I think their big problem is getting around the field, and reaching distant objectives. Reivers & raven guard can solve this in different way, but IMO they'll only really be viable as a standalone once they've got their transport.
>>
>>54569402
depnd on how codex compliant your chapter is. Probably a good idea to at least allude to a blue scheme though, maybe a blue pauldron or psychic hood.

There was a good article in White Dwarf (15 years ago or more) with a dude who had his Deathwing army all in bone including the officers who then had their robes coloured to fit their profession (Eziekiel in Blue, Azreal in Green, Asmodai in Black)
>>
>>54569463

>Redemptor vs Contemptor

Contemptor hits on a 2+ and wounds on a 2+, you'll only get a 6+ save.

You hit on a 3+ and wound on a 2+, it gets a 5++.

It also has the better ranged weapons for hurting you.

If we go to forge world, this gets worse as the Contemptor can take a chainfist, a much broader list of ranged weapons, and gets 2 extra wounds, a 2+ save and can ignore wounds on a 6+ even after failing an invulnerable.

Anon, look carefully at the plasma incinerator, specifically it's number of shots. Now compare it to a twin lascannon.

Note that if you roll all sixes for every dice roll, the two weapons will do the same damage.

Now note how unreliable the plasma is, rolling D6 shots. It can do anywhere from 1-12 wounds, but trends low and can easily miss entirely if you roll a low number of hits.

Now note that a smaller dread can take four Lascannons.

They have no chance against thunder hammer and shield termies though.

I think that Fate will be a lot closer than we thought. Chaos players all have jobs and families unlike most imperial players that only join the faction for a false sense of family and a father figure.
>>
>>54570182
They seem a little schizophrenic for the job, honestly. They can't take that many hits, they're a plasmagun squad's wet dream for a target and they want to shoot AND melee for optimal damage. My Admech will continue to be more worried about the Hellblasters and Inceptors.
>>
I'm thinking about converting Scarab Occult Terminators into Word Bearers. Apart from the head crests and the beetles on the chest pieces, is there anything else in the kit that is distinctly tzeentch? I figure the capes and tabards are perfect for script and the ali baba swords are fitting due to the Word Bearers being desert dwelling religious extremists. Thoughts?

Not sure if it's welcome, but I'd like to get feedback on this new unit idead.

Burning Skeletons of Khorne
>They may have been heinous criminals, or stalwart imperial citizens in life but in death, their fear of being devoured by the God's drove them to depravity. Manifesting this animalistic desire to survive, the tore-into and killed the souls around them. This brought them into the favor of Khorne, who gifted them with unlife in the name of slaughter.

3 Power, 5ppm
-a unit contains x10 Burning Skeleton models, each equipped with a set of Desperate Talons
-M 7, WS 3+, BS 6+, S 3, T 2, W 1, A 2, Ld 7, Sv 6+
-Daemonic, 5+ Invul save, Daemonic Ritual
-Soul-Scarring Fire: Wound rolls of 6+ in the Fight phase deal Mortal Wounds
-Combustive: Before a Burning Skeleton model is removed as a casualty, roll a d6. On a 6, each enemy unit within 3" of the slain model suffers a mortal wound.
-Parade of the Damned: If this unit contains more than 10 models, Combustive goes off on a 5 or 6.

>>
>>54570225

And contemptor Mortis.

Mortis is cheap, Contemptor Mortis shoots and survives better. 175 or 206 points, your choice.

The contemptor's hitting on 2+ means it'll probably kill a Redemptor before it can reach him though.

As a Death Korps of Krieg player I have an issue.

I feel like my army has become overpowered. Beyond playing simply As Mil I have extra special rules like not taking moral for shooting and 3+ to hit in close combat.

Ontop of that, I have medusa and earthshaker carriages, which (if you get past the fact that they can not move) are better than normal basilisks.

Has anyone else played with or against DKoK that can give their opinion?
>>
>>54570352

Hmm.

Wisdom of the Ancients and Armour of Contempt seem really good for my space wolves Dreads.

WotA means I can have Bjorn charge into the front lines whilst still gaining the captain buff with my gunline dreads, whilst AoC is -really good- for when people try to focus fire my leviathan down, not too bad against other mortal wound spam either.
>>
>>54570353
Rather undercosted. Less points than an Ork Boy for a Ratling that has Mortal Rending 2A, a 5++ and explodes, you'd see two or three full blobs of these everywhere. You can't fight them, they'll deal 7ish Mortal Wounds if you were to chop through a full blob even without counting attacks, and they cost fuck all.

I would say more 9 or 10 ppm, given they're about half as durable as a Ruststalker and trade movement for explosions and numbers.

We pay extra points for our infantry already, on top of that when the AM codex hits regular guard will get regimental rules
> I have medusa and earthshaker carriages, which (if you get past the fact that they can not move) are better than normal basilisks.
medusas are worse than an earthshakers unless you're shooting at t9/10 models (and even then with the fewer shots they get on average that's debatable) and if you see those you're up against FW anyway. but i'dd contest your claim that carriages are better than basilisks , first of all they can't form vehicle squadrons , so they have to stay together and wounds can spill over , second of all they may have an extra point of toughness but they have a worse save and less wounds making them much more vulnerable to counter battery fire or deep striking units.
carriages are the cheaper , squishy unit , which is what you want 7 out of 10 times sure , but a basilisk has it's own perks.

my friend plays dkok and i don't feel like his stuff is to strong , not having FRFSRF or take aim! is a real bummer

basically , we're playing as if we already have our codex , with everyone else getting theirs the playing field should even out more

elysians are in dire need of a nerf though, the fact that they can turn everything into assault weapons (including grenades and pistols) is just fucking hilarious

veteran team in a valkyrie, 5 shotguns 3 flamers 1 heavy flamer, plus a commander

grav chute within grenade range, make everying assault

10 shotgun shots
3d6 flamer, 1d6 heavy flamer
10d6 frag nades
10 krak nades

Normal basilisks aren't much better than carriages, 21 points for an extra 4W and 3+ instead of 4+ and dying immediatly whenever anyone is able to sneeze at the crew seems reasonable (the platforms rather than carriages are damn good though), they're also options nomral IG have. A S3 attack hitting on 3s instead of 4s isn't game breaking, especially if you aren't backing them up with priests, losing FRSRF in favour of lasguns are now "Pistol 2 this trun" is pretty signficant, maybe even more so than not running. Also you lack memescripts.

>>
>>54570610
its doing exactly what the rules say, it turns all weapons into assault

grenades are weapons, pistols are weapons
>>
>>54570535
haven't used that yet , though i do have some shotgun vets underway, mostly planning on running them with meltas and a missile launcher though
i'm guessing the grenade thing will get erratad at some point so i'm seriously doubting if i'll even use it
that said without it the order is pretty shite compared to the regular variant where you get to shoot after advancing , without penalties, since it turns lasguns into assault 1 halving their effectiveness and they get a -1 to hit on top of that
it's only other main use is ignoring the heavy penalty when moving which for most heavy weapon teams will only come into play the turn they arrive from reserve (and why would you do that since they all have enough range to start in your deployment zone and soot from there)

i don't think elysians themselves need a nerf ,we pay a 10 point tax per unit (20 points really if you consider half your army can't use Arial drop) and nobody gets a free chainsword
>>
>>54570657
I don't think anyone thinks the intent of that order was to make grenades assault weapons.
Its clearly for firing heavy weapons on the move with no penalty (see: deepstrikeing heavy weapons teams)

Until we get an FAQ tho, your 100% in the right that you can do that.
>>
>>54570664
>i don't think elysians themselves need a nerf ,we pay a 10 point tax per unit (20 points really if you consider half your army can't use Arial drop) and nobody gets a free chainsword

chainswords arnt really useful for a shooty army though, remember that you are paying 1ppm for those fucking insane orders, not just the deepstrike

>it's only other main use is ignoring the heavy penalty when moving which for most heavy weapon teams will only come into play the turn they arrive from reserve (and why would you do that since they all have enough range to start in your deployment zone and soot from there)

it allows you to scoot and shoot with no penaltry remember, i personally run 6 missile launchers with a company commander to go with my scions

they are just easier to kill tauroxes with more shots and can move

>>
>>54570685
>those insane orders
as i said , without the grenade exploit(?), the assault one has very limited uses ,
the other unique order , ignore fight and shooting fase casualties sounds good at first, but while playing i realized that i never used it since units can only be affected by 1 order at a time and firing 18 times more is a lot better than losing 1-4 models next turn, especially since commissars are so readily available to

Contemptor with kheres (165)
Stormraven with hurricane bolters, twin assault cannon, typhoon launcher (307)

Spearhead detachment:
Techmarine with conversion beamer, boltgun, axe of medusa (70)

Too much.
The SC Marines is
Captain
10 Tacticals
Dreadnought

Most likely it will be
HQ (Guessing new kit or plastic Terminator Librarian)
5 Terminators -or- 10 PAGKs
Dreadknight
>>
1500 point battallion:

Gravis captain with armor indomitus
Power sword primaris lieutenant
5 assault bolter inceptors
5 intercessors
6 intercessors
6 intercessors
5 hellblasters with rapid fire plasma
3 flamer aggressors
Repulsor with TL lascannon, las-talon, 2 krakstrom, 2 fragstorm, onslaught cannon, 2 storm bolters, icarus rocket pod

At 2000 points, I have two choices I'm thinking of:

Both of them involve adding a primaris apothecary to the aggressors and HQs in the repulsor, adding a 6th inceptor, and adding a redemptor with plasma and onslaught. One idea has me bulking out the intercessors, having 2 10 man squads with bolt rifles and 1 5 man with stalkers. Or, I can drop one of the intercessors and change the repulsor's guns around a bit to add a stormtalon with either TL lascannon or typhoons. What do you think?

This will be imperial fists.
