I forgot the more important parts of that post, like the doofus I am: The heck kind of enchantments should I even put on a "luxury coffin"? A constant Prestidigitation effect to keep the thing tidy and comfortable during trips? Something that helps the healing process?

Then, what kind of custom magic items have you made or found? Anything that you're proud of and would want to use again?
>>
>>54485345
Local ties is hands down the best campaign trait IMO. Being able to use either Know: Engineering or DD without having technologist is huge specially for nonhuman PCs who initially can't afford it.

You'll notice that almost everyone has it so I foresee the final lineup (if this actually runs) to more or less be some sort of multi racial family sitcom along the lines of Brady bunch.

>>54487480
>What kind of game do you want to run?
One with no space or aliens. I'm woried that the system will support space opera well enough but won't run well with other stylings of sci-fi. I've been keeping up and I'm good so far, but I'm afraid the book will come out and all the planning I've already done and will do over the coming month will go to waste.
>>
>>54487017
That reminds me of a character I have lined up for an Eclipse Phase game. In case you don't know about that system, it's a sci-fi game set in a hypothetical future of Earth where humanity has expanded throughout the solar system and we've developed the technology to basically put your mind on a microchip. You can easily change bodies just by having the microchip put in a different body (a different "morph" as they're called in-setting). You can also upload your mind to cyberspace, become what's known as an infomorph.

Well, my idea was basically that a group of hardcore, dedicated LARPers had all uploaded themselves as infomorphs into a giant fantasy-world computer simulation. It was a huge group of people that all lived together on an asteroid station made specifically to host this simulation. So, my character idea is a second-generation LARPer in the group, as in someone who was born to a pair of LARPers and basically grew up in this environment. She knows it's just a big RP thing, not real life, but because it's how she was raised she still takes it all pretty seriously. So when she is forced to leave the station by the circumstances of the campaign, she suits up in a morph made to look like her character from the LARP, which is the princess of goblinkind (seeing as her parents played the goblin king and his highest consort.

So you've got this girl in a goblin more running around, using an oversized sniper railgun because her character in the LARP snipes with a crossbow. And she is very insistent about not breaking character, to the point that she typically only does so to explain to other people why she thinks she's a goblin princess and other important stuff.

A friend and I had worked out the relationship between our two characters, his character being a much more serious and no-nonsense sort of guy, a scavenger who is just interested in getting some cash and evading the law.
>>
>>54487564
I feel this is a softball thing I should funpost at hard, but instead I'm going to ask again for more details.

Wouldn't there be a more appropriate system for what you want anyway?
>>
>when a player dies and all they do is bitch
I hate you, John.
>>
>>54487598
It's possible. My range of systems isn't so great that I'm aware of one, but I do think that concepts should be run in appropriate systems rather than forcing inappropriate systems to fit them.

What I have in mind I started planning and building around the Starfinder information already available, so as said I am good soooooo far. Have the appropriate background for every class, the technology level is accounted for, ecetera. It's mostly a matter of curveballs and system aspect weight that's worrying me right now. Basically, things like the power level being far removed from my expectations or starships ending up more integral to the game instead of being something I can cut out.
>>
What could be some fun encounters for a group of dragon riders?

Also what are some fun school/academy shenanigans I could throw their way when the dragons are still wyrmlings and the riders are low level?
>>
>>54487242
It's roll with it. Unless you're fighting in a box, you should basically never fail to both negate the enemy's attack and get out of reach of the next. A melee opponent without enough friends needs to pull a swift action movement out of his ass during a full attack or do something besides hitting to deal with you.

The only downside is nobody wants to play the race it's on.
>>
>>54487564
Starfinder devs confirmed some time before you can run the game without any space just fine.

No, it doesn't do any harm. The reason you don't give food or water to someone who is injured in modern times is because they might have to operate, and if he has food or water in his system and he is sedated, he could choke on his own vomit and die when the sedatives and anesthesia make him sick.

Well, /pfg/, my bard died. I was given a choice to come back by my GM however, as my party can't afford to resurrect me. My choices are:
>come back with the ghoul corruption
>come back with one level ahead of the party, but that level will be in the reanimated medium archetype, and when the rest of the party levels up, I will not level as they'll be catching up to me. This level can never be retrained until I get a proper resurrection.
Which one seems like the better deal?

What makes a custom setting for Pathfinder more entertaining and desirable to play in? Would you say there's a lot standard because of the quality of Golarion as a setting?

Also, lots of people seemed to like the setting/lore PLD had, even if they didn't care for the game or its DM. What made it appealing, in general terms?

Because it's nice to be able to help out an ally from a distance, shoooting the enemy dead before he gets that sword thrust in. As far as flying, yes, you could in fact use the young templated hippogriff or gryphon for a small charger to ride. I see invoking PLD in my question about settings was a mistake. Let me ask something else.

I'm making a setting, and I'm giving consideration to what the planes outsiders come from are like. I've decided that the home plane of demons is a giant, hollow sphere with a massive black star in the center. The star is a roiling mass of negative energy, souls, and arcane power, and its radiant light causes insidious fleshy grows wherever it lands. Because of this, the inner surface of the sphere surrounding it is covered in a thick layer of grotesque and writhing flesh, from which demons arise. Most demons wish to open portals to other worlds to further spread the corrupting influence of their home plane and dark (technically bright) creator. A demon can ascend to demon lord status by throwing itself into the black sun, gaining great power if they can survive.

But I want to know if the demons should have a civilization, a society that lives in flesh-warped buildings and organizes attempts to invade other worlds under the cruel leadership of demon lords, or if it that would be too orderly and their "society" should just be a wild, might-makes-right free for all where it's eat or be eaten. The former feels more interesting, but the latter is more typical to how demons are normally presented.

>>
>>54489601
I think your problem here is that you're conflating everyone in the thread.

Okay, here's how this worked from just one anon's perspective: Someone was bitching about PLD. Someone else talked shit about PLD. You then responded to that person by mocking them, and not only giving them cause to continue their ridicule, but you kept the argument going.

If you had just let it burn itself out rather than feeding the troll, you'd have been free to go about your day. Instead, you're chasing down a non-existent foe and acting like everyone's out to get you. It shouldn't matter to you whether people dislike your game. Fuck them, they'll disagree with you regardless of what you say. So don't engage them.
>>
>>54489548
I considered changing that to the plane of devils, yeah. But I don't like the motif of "malignant, cancerous growth" for devils as much as I do for demons, and an unsettling city of flesh and blood and random biological growths doesn't really feel like a place of order. I thought that if I do make that the devil plane, I'd probably change it from growths of flesh to crystalline growths, especially orderly looking patterns like bismuth.

But that's a good idea, to have devils form such a rigid and dangerous society because they're a hyper-lawful race born into a chaotic world, struggling to enforce their strict sense of order on as much of creation as possible.

Being an archer was the occupation of nobility almost everywhere except for western Europe, which still boasted noble archers for a good time. Archery requires insane strength to the point foot archers often had mismatched armbones and shoulder blades, and required long periods of practice to hone skill (which meant you were either someone who could afford to waste time practicing, or a yeoman). >>54490115
A bamboozle is a trick or surprise played on someone, and in the context of this thread is usually lingo for a Pathfinder game that's recruiting players but won't actually run because the DM will bail for some reason or another.

A sockpuppet is an additional account on a website someone makes, often a throw-away account that will be used once so they can post on that website without people realizing who they are. This allows them to dodge away from an existing reputation and to do things without affecting the reputation they have on their real account.

The cabal refers to a particular chatroom on Discord which is focused on Pathfinder. Many people there also frequent these threads, and shit from the two locations freely flows in between. Because people in the cabal don't have anonymity on Discord, they can develop a reputation, which is something 4chan's anonymous nature is meant to prevent.

Iron Gods is an adventure path from Paizo, and a game of Iron Gods is currently recruiting on Roll20. It is suspected to be a bamboozle because nobody has seen or heard from the DM in a while.

I'd wager the bulk of erpgame bamboozles are due to the GMs being alternate accounts so they can maintain the facade of a totally normal gamer, and they probably have other games they're running elsewhere to worry about. Bamboozling is still a kick in the blue balls though.

I'm surprised we haven't already seen someone try to run it, given how popular the campaign is here. It seems like it's in the top three for much of /pfg/, yet we've seen more of games like Wrath of the Righteous, Serpent's Skull, and K(Bl)ingmaker despite all of them being fairly UNpopular here. I wonder why nobody (as far as I recall) has tried to run it yet.

I'd sign up for it, so long as it's not explicitly meant to be lewd. Hell, even if lewdness is on the table for the game, if it's just "You can lewd if you want, but we'll just fade to black and you do it on your own time" instead of "Expect losing to mean you get pulled away for raping" I don't really care that other people might want to do some ERP on the side.

I don't like CoC levels of "losing always = raping" and I want some non-lewd in there, but if a few players want to orgy in the inn, why stop them?

Because it's something which only appeals to a narrow subset of players, and no one wants to hear about the sex life of others.

Also doesn't help that the two champions of Lewd have been Dragon Game and PLD, both of which posted explicit logs, and meme'd themselves incessantly. I think explicit games have pretty much been destroyed by their connection to those two.

I don't want to have ERP forced on me in a game, but if some of the other players and/or the DM want to do some ERP on the side, it's no skin off my back as long as my face isn't shoved in it. And implied lewdness is totally fine, like you're saying scantily-clad women have been in D&D for a long time and that's because they've been in fantasy genres for a long time. Running across a few bold courtesans or an evil succubus and her beguiled guards isn't out of place, and I'm not a prude who has to avert their eyes from any hint of sexual implication. As an avid ERPer, in my opinion it is a couple things. First, the quality of RP is typically much higher than not, with much less monty python tier shit.

Second, it builds a strong emotional foundation to the character and the scene which normal porn can't compare against. It's still limited by way of being text, but you get to a point of apples to oranges.

Third, you get exactly what you want in your magical realm.

The fact that you don't get it lends me to believe you are male, and probably have never ERPed, am I correct?

A gestalt Paladin//True Dragon, the latter being a monster class from DSP. My DM did a bit of homebrew to make a solar dragon variant for the class, so I could play a reckless young dragon set on a path of righteousness by the convictions of those around her, determined to melt away the frigid evil tainting the north with the metaphorical AND literal radiant glory of the sun.

Pic related, though I used a different one as her armor reference.

So yeah, I doubt I'll be seeing chargen rules for a RoW game that allow that build again, and at this point I can accept no substitute.

>First, the quality of RP is typically much higher than not, with much less monty python tier shit.

Ironically this.

When I got into ERPing I expected it all to be the "owo rubs ur bulge" bullshit you see memed, and yeah, that's a lot of ERP out there, but the good ERPers are some of the most literate and high-quality text RPers out there.

To get off to text you have to be above and beyond, I guess.

That, plus the fact that your typical weebshit "i wanna play a catgirl i drew in ms paint" or your "owo" furries get ignored and never get into any good games leads to an astounding level of quality control.

Honestly, years of ERP has actually made me a considerably better writer in general. I'm not saying it's perfect or for everyone or that all of ERP is great (the majority is shit), but not every aspect of it is the shit cringe-tier garbage you see memed around online.

>Second, it builds a strong emotional foundation to the character and the scene which normal porn can't compare against. It's still limited by way of being text, but you get to a point of apples to oranges.
I mean different strokes, but I don't really watch porn for emotional fulfillment.

I mean you can just close your eyes, grab some lotion, and get that by your lonesome. I don't see why you would want to deal with the needs of another guy on the other screen.

Yes, I remember mentioning her had having a few people ask about her, so I talked more about her backstory and stuff. her egg crash-landed on Golarion like a small asteroid, where the other PCs found it a few years before the start of the campaign. Though, it was a noble sacrifice to protect her, made by an overbearing paladin of an "uncle" that she had only ever been aggressive and rude to, that encouraged her to take his place as a holy warrior. Only after that event did she finally chose her own name, calling herself Vivexathurnkear which in Draconic means "Victory Against Darkness"- exactly the sort of impressive and lengthy name I would expect a young dragon to give herself. In actual practice, though, she was still very young and inexperienced, so I was playing up the classic angle of a novice paladin trying to learn what it really means to be a paladin. She also frequently complained about the cold, being a dragon with vulnerability to cold.

That was... Probably around four or five months ago, I think? The game lasted a few sessions, but we couldn't keep it together because of scheduling issues. I would die for the chance to play her again in a RoW game, although who knows if she would get through the app process unchanged.

Pic related was the reference I used for the armor she found and thawed out during the first session.

You don't understand the appeal, not because you find it wanting but because you are ignorant of it.

Furthermore, the reason I guessed you were male is because men are far more visually oriented than women. They see a nice body, and that's all they need. They don't typically get beyond that for sexual satisfaction, but there is territory beyond it.

well, look at the stats.

a basic composite longbow goes for 100 gold, has a range of 110, 1d8 damage, x3 crit

the orcish hornbow costs 130, has a range of 80, x3 crit, but deals 2d6 damage.

Both cost the same amount to increase the composite damage bonus (even if you go for adaptable), so that's a side issue.

Most engagements happen within 80 feet anyways (some as few as 30 feet if you're indoors), so if you have a way of getting a free exotic weapon proficiency or orcish weapon familiarity (such as by playing a half-orc) it's about as much of an upgrade over a standard bow as a greatsword is over a longsword.

If you have the spare feat otherwise, I'd grab it, but it's not worth taking something out of your build for.

As in, they're weapons you could only buy if you know a guy who knows an Orc? Yes, and at the same time no.

Hornbows as described in the Armory are explicitly Orcish weapons built in Belkzen, however it isn't a difficult thing to fluff a Hornbow in, say, Taldor as simply a very powerful longbow crafted out of Darkwood.
>>
>>54491395
Getting raped is a fantasy more common with women, and the kink isn't about emotional devastation, that's why it's a fantasy, it's about being held down, losing control, and being made to please someone much stronger than you. That's why the rape fantasy isn't the ugly fatass behind you in class (except for degradation fantasy if you also have that kink), but about the tall handsome prince in the provincial football team holding you down and having his way with you. The rape fantasy doesn't deal with what comes after the event (unless, again, you have certain other kinks), it deals with the event itself and being made fuck someone against your will, and the idea of your will simply not mattering.

It's not a lewd game, but it has lewd shit in it. My point was there's nothing saying the lewdness is bad, and just like old D&D there's implied sexuality in abundance.

>>54491574
Either an AP or something homebrewed. Lewd allowed but it's not the central focus, as in it's not a purely ERP game. Probably using some good houserules like Tax Feats (which everyone else is doing anyway).

I also have ideas for a Warhammer game in the same vein, but that's for a different thread.

If that's what they want to do.

They'll fall in line once they try to grope local guards and end up getting severe injures and tossed in jail.

If people wanna make fuckmeat and lewd's allowed, fine, but that doesn't mean I as the GM needs to design the game around them. That's the limp way of GMing that too many new GMs fall into the trap of doing.

Designing your game around your players is a fatal mistake, especially online where they can easily join or leave at any time. You need to make a solid game idea and have a foundation for them to expand on. Include them, but don't let everything be dictated by them.

This is how I would run it.

There's multiple points in campaigns were you have shit like an elf raped so hard her legs are missing from her ghost or you have sex slaves needing to be rescued etc.
Pornography and eroticism is simply playing out the scenes on the table. It's literally canon that ogres will sometimes use you as a fucking onahole.

Some hi-power Throne stuff is possible too.

When it comes down to it I'll likely run something established first, get the group together, see if lewds go down and if so make sure everyone's comfortable with it, then go into homebrew stuff.

Varying degrees of lewdness throughout, but again, not a strictly ERP game.
>>
>>54491722
Again. That doesn't make it Lewd. The point of that is to disgust you, not turn your on. The facehuggers in Alien are supposed to resemble genitalia, that doesn't make Alien lewd.

I've played the game and autistically rifle through rules on a daily basis, and the main reason I want gestalt is because I find myself enjoying games with fewer players. Unfortunately, everyone on /pfg/ has a boner for 6-player gestalt games that turn into a bit of a nightmare for everyone involved.
>>
>>54491742
>I was skimming through the Inner Sea books earlier. That's definitely a consideration.

Honorable mention goes to the Land of the Linnorm Kings, Ustalav, and Iblydos.

Ooh, I think I need to expand on Iblydos since most people don't know what Iblydos is. For those not in the know, Iblydos is Hellenic Greece (as in, togas and atriums and big Ionic pillars holding up temples) where each city-state is ruled over by a Hero-God, a man or woman that has gained enough Mythic power to localize their divinity into a single location upon which a city can (and should) be built, becoming the patron and protector of the lands while giving out divine spells to the faithful.
>>
>>54491727
At this point I look at the gestalt /pfg/ games like I look at background skills: one side of the gestalt is your primary class (usually an initiator or full caster) while the other side more for a few flavorful abilities to add to the characterization.
>>
>>54491825
>Ustalav,
Ustalav is a fucking terrible place to run a campaign. Don't fall for the fucking Bloodborne and Van Hellsing memes, it's much less cool.
>>
>>54491825

We need to collaboratively make this shit.

We could be the saviors of /pfg/'s lewd-but-not-100%-ERP game market.
>>
>>54491851
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. We've had a few lewd-but-not-100%-ERP games and most people didn't get into them by nature of how things work. You start your game, people get excited if it fills a niche, then it closes and 80% of the people excited for it are still thirsty.
>>
>>54491899

That's what I said about avoiding the pitfalls, and making it not just an ERP game so when we're no longer horny we just give up. An actual game, one that just happens to have lewds in it, usually just by allowing the players to do them.
>>

Speaking honestly, if picks aren't based on lewdshit, I would think about apping. Sometimes, seeing the apps are going majority lewd, it feels pointless to app because I feel like even if I were to get in, I wouldn't want to be in a game where everything is nip slips and "bullying" memes.

I'm all for relationships forming that have a solid dynamic, but this "I just met you, let's fuck" stuff just feels so tacked on.

What I'm saying is if you are correct in that this is an unfilled, highly demanded niche, then you will get 30apps and will select 4-6, leaving 25 thirsty anons and having solved nothing.

Iblydos is particularly rich in Mythic power, as befitting their status as mythological Greece.

Furthermore, you're only getting maybe 10-20 people with Mythic power every century or so, which in the scheme of things is tiny.

In my game, the entire rtuling class is gestalt, and the actual heads of the royal bloodlines are all mythic. That's an average of 15-20 people with mythic power in every city state of the nation, with about 15-20 of the total having close to ten tiers.

It's all about how you design the world.

It can get pretty fucky when you get high or low damage dice. d3 in particular, since it's not a common die to have, and people will just try to approximate it, and they're bad at that. We've hit 6d10+36d6 territory in my current game, shit's bonkers.

I really don't like the idea of chivalry, as I think it attracts deus vulters that try way too hard. Same with lewd attracting lewdists. I'm just... really tired of extremes and caricatures.
