You will either be taking 5 levels in Gunslinger or 3 levels in the Trench Fighter archetype if you want guns to be anything more than a shitty slingshot.

>>

The other version was exactly the same, except you got an extra trait for free rather than having to spend another feat to get it.

And it's not so bad, a lot of traits are reasonable for a feat.
>>
>>54475349
Don't you still have to spend the resources to get access to those traits, effectively doubling how many feats you would have to spend?

3 characters, actually. Dead games. I get somewhat attached, and their stories didn't really have an "end." Even death would have been better. I try not to think about the first 2 too much, since it actually makes me sad. The last was in a game I expected to die, so it wasn't as harsh, though I didn't expect to get as attached as I did.

Her name was Rubia the Red. She was a street urchin turned Ghoul partially based on FrankenFran, who ended up becoming the setting's equivilant of a Moriarity/Jack the Ripper hybrid in a high power mythic campaign.

She was by far one of the oldest living undead, constantly going dormant, resurfacing, and pretending to be her own copycat killers. Eventually she ended up running a side business as a fleshwarper/cosmetic surgeon.

She joined up with the PCs to fight against an ancient cult trying to merge all the elemental planes together on top of the material plane because... Chaos?

Despite her intimidating mythology the truth of the matter is the years spent in isolation had essentially turned her into a NEET who spent all her free time sleeping in the caravan she lived in.

In the end she had to join forces with her nemesis, the latest member in a long family line of detective clerics founded by Not!Sherlock who had been hunting her for centuries. After completing their work together and beating the BBEG Rubia was aprehended and beheaded.

The other party members who had grown to care for Rubia severed ties with the Clerics and delivered the majority of her written notes and studies to surgeons and fleshwarpers across the land so her work would live on. They then had a pyre and burnt her remains inside her caravan home.

She was a clingy, emotionally unstable, violent psychopath who only barely knew how to carry herself in public. Her build was yet trash and TWFing in iron Gods meant all her WBL went into adamantine weapons instead of any of the necessary +1's. She had fucking abysmal luck any time a grapple check came up, and was frequently ending fights with single digit hp... But fuck if she wasn't fun to play anyway. That primal joy I felt secondhand from tearing through gangers, fleeing ghosts, deactivating a "nuclear" reactor while high as a kite, and rigging a tower with C4 and watching it blow from a distance still gives me shivers. She was a right cunt, but cared about her group too much to let it get detrimental to the game.

God damn I miss that game. I hope the GM feels good enough to reboot it sometime. Maybe with gestalt, if he's gonna insist on half the recommended party size again.

I've got 3 characters I really regret not finishing.

1. A character who was bought from her parents at the age of 5. Raised to be the bodyguard and personal servant for the youngest daughter of a minor noble family. As her charge has gotten older, she's gotten a little psychotic when it comes to security. Some nights donning a mask, and assassinating the family's enemies.

Build was a super boring Max HP Vigilante, with Fist of the Avenger, but I would have loved to play the character for more than three sessions. Especially since the game was 50% comfy day-to-day noble house management, and the other 50% was HP Lovecraft by way of David Cronenburg.

2. A guard and from an upper class district, who got "promoted" to running a tiny guardpost in the middle of the poorest and most dangerous part of the city, after stopping a noble scion from beating a servant to death. As a person, he was a soft-spoken and generally agreeable intellectual, the kind of guy who could discuss philosophy, history, and art over a glass of wine. When going into combat, he put on a set of salvaged magitech power armor, and became stick-fighting Batman. Character joined in the middle of the campaign, and the first combat consisted of him walking into a room with eight enemies, and disabling all of them without taking a scratch.

Build was super cool too, Investigator/Warder using EG and IT with a Tower Shield, mobile bulwark style, and all the feats for Shields/Armor to Touch AC. Despite having a Dex of 10, the character was fucking bulletproof.

3. The third was an Asmodean Infiltraitor Inquisitor in Wrath of the Righteous. The guy was Sarkorian, had fought in the first and second crusades. He became disillusioned with the Mendevian government's incompetence, and sought out some people who may actually have a shot at closing the World Wound.

The character was super evil, but was pretending to be a LG member of the Inquisition. Great, great fun.

Are there any race-independent ways to add a spell to your class's list from another's list? I know about Samsaran but I don't want to play one. Also IS Shocking Grasp the most-damaging touch spell in the game, no higher-level upgrades at all?

Building a Spiritualist with that archetype that just makes you a Wis-Magus with the Spiritualist spell list.
>>

Its popular because its the best tool magus gets. Its cheap, you can extend its use with metamagic, you don't have to wait around for it to become viable like the other blasting spells (fireball, fire snake, contagious flames) and it only becomes superb in their context: You don't hit touch, so the bonus against metal is valuable, and you use your 15~20 weapon's crit range for some impressive results.

I grapple with that same question all the time.

I guess just make them feel human? Display their insecurities, give them hobbies or things or pets they care about. Maybe show their inner thoughts a bit if it's in text. Have them geek out over something they're passionate about.

Like, the sorts of things that would come up if you're spending a lot of time around any given person.

>>54476583
I wonder if a backstory is really important. Maybe it's not. Maybe the backstory isn't suppose to be a backstory, it's suppose to be a window into their personality. Not like the personality section, which is bland because it just says "This is the personality" but like a backstory section, where personality is expressed through detail of history, and bits that don't give new insight to the reader don't need to be there.

SO it would be, your backstory must tell them about who they are now, and only speak of their past as far as it relates to how it made them who they are.

What are best examples of the good apps, from all of our games together?

>>54476584
It's not enough to only do that. There are more secrets.
>>
>>54476548
Make them people. How do their pasts inform their decisions? What local phrases do they use? What do they like to eat when they have the chance? Do they have magic items with custom designs they like?
>>
>>54476548
Don't make them so perfect. Give them flaws that are actually flaws instead of the fake flaws that you see today. Giving them wants and needs is also a thing, they shouldn't just be some murderous hobo that the party picked up on their quest to slay 200 goblins, he should be in it for something. Sounds easy right? Problem is, you should also not do this to the point where it becomes potentially destructive to the party.
>>
>>54476629
Honestly, you can't really say who's best at making a character interesting by going over apps. Interesting apps don't necessarily make a character who's fun to play, and vice versa.

Like, I can't think of that many interesting apps, because interesting character doesn't come across in the roll20 app format. You don't see them worrying over small things, you don't see their inner turmoil, you don't see when they hesitate and when they finally manage to overcome their insecurities. You don't see the rare moments when the ladykiller can't find the right words, or when the nerd manages to be smooth.

And all people really care about at the application stage is whether they attract memes.
>>
>>54476630
It's so weird. Sometimes these things are what gives a character life, but sometimes they are pointless filler. Who gets to decide if it's valuable?

>>54476666
Flaws are easy to make. Good flaws are harder. The right flaw is harder even more. But it's important that the rest of the character's characterness doesn't feel like a vehicle that exists to justify a flaw. Or anything. It's avoiding sounding like your character's parts are parts of a character that you need to do, maybe? So like, you have to make sure that no part of the character reads like "this is part is only here to make the build match the character or to support this other character trait". Right?
>>
>>54476698
I think it's not a popular opinion, but, I think more apps should include writing samples and scenes for the character, or even RP scenes between apps. But that would probably open its own can of worms, and be so much more stuff for DMs to read for making their decision, too.
>>
>>54476732
>RP scenes between apps
Knowing pfg its going to be PCs coming on to each other and talking about how big their tits are.

>so much more stuff for DMs to read for making their decision, too
Lets be honest m8, there is a point where an app becomes too long and gets instantly disqualified just because the potential GM can't be assed to read all that shit.
>>
>>54476718
I think it's generally up to the rest of the group to decide whether it's valuable. If you're getting across a part of your character and helping people get immersed in the world, then it's good. If it's distracting or it bogs down the game, then it's not.

Who cares whether your character knows minutiae about armor, or food, or language, if it's all just there for its own sake? All you have to really do is make sure you're not being a fucking tool and doing something wildly inappropriate to the tone and setting. Otherwise you're just being autistic or looking like you're desperate to show off.

>Knowing pfg its going to be PCs coming on to each other and talking about how big their tits are.

Maybe that's good. If the DM doesn't want that in the game, they know not to invite those players.

To be fair, the more that happens the less we actually talk about Pathfinder. Sure, sure, there's not that much Pathfinder to talk about that hasn't been tread and re-tread to death, but it's divisive to just talk about some Original the Character's tits/dick all the time.

>>
>>54476718
It's there to help you get a feel for the character. At least, that's how I do it. I collect a few things here and there that help to build an idea of how they see the world, then add more as it becomes relevant. The party doesn't know most of it, but it helps me to understand the character more, which makes them more fun to roleplay.

Is it ever possible to make an undead themed campaign spooky? Pretty much every fantasy character has a brendan fraser-like attitude towards even the most unnatural of enemies.

I thought about adding the bloody template to otherwise CR appropriate skellies just so they would relentlessly revive and chase the players forcing them to find alternative methods of dealing with the threats like using barricades and taking advantage of the undead's poor intellect but I am a little scared that my players might find the encounter to be unfun.

Spiritualist does get other things like Chill Touch, Inflict series, and eventually Slay Living and then Harm. You also get fucking Ghoul Touch as a 2nd level. They don't actually need Shocking Grasp.

Also have you noticed that you are actually uncapped on how many enhancements you can put in your weapon with the 5th level ability? If you 'nova' for a combat and have high Wisdom (daily pool being 0.5x lvl + Wis), you can be swinging a +2 Corrosive Frost Shock weapon at like 5th level, and in 2-3 levels you could potentially have enough to add the full complement of Corrosive Frost Shock Flaming Merciful to the +2 black blade you have. A +7 weapon is normally 98,000gp fyi. The weapon also has inherent ghost touch and the option to spend per round on being touch attacks. Phantom Blade Spiritualists are no joke.

>>
>>54477132
Part of the lack of fear of undead kind of spawns from the fact that...you're not actually encountering them in real life. It's a meta-thing honestly, I think most adventurers SHOULD be spooked by them, if at least a little bit, unless they're like hunting them for a living. While villagers and the common man should be completely terrified if their best friend or what have you rising up from the grave.

Ok pfg lets have it out. Lets discuss ERP. This thing seems to be the most important factor in any pfg game and I will be honest when I say that when I thought of "lewd" games I only thought a few risque details are brought up once in a while or emphasized a little more than it would a "normal" game.

Maybe its the games I've been part of but it seems to feel like sex is everywhere and it seems to be the major factor in the narrative. Every player feels like they need to be sexually active otherwise the the rest of the group seems disappointed.

Is this normal for your typical pfg fare or did I just have bad luck with the groups I've been?

Its fun and all but sometimes the narrative feels like I'm taking part in a guided tour of a sex toy factory as the dialogue is more along the lines of "Look at that cock", "Check out how these tits jiggle", "Get a load of that puffy vagina" rather than focusing on the job laid out for the group. "Fail that percep check? Fall into a pit of upward facing dragon dildos!"
>>
>>54478942
I know what you mean. There's a lot of distance between playful banter that takes lewd turns at times + seduction memes and occasional fading to black, and "futa cocks dangling in the open every step i take, mm pls milk me when we get back".

"Lewd" does not mean ERP, unless you specify that you're reaching for that 10/10 Alexanders score.

Try to remember playing any text only game.

Remember how frustrating it is when someone takes a piss just when its their turn? Remember when someone suddenly goes "BRB FOOD" in the middle of a session?

Remember the feeling of wanting to bodily grab someone through the internet and tell them that maybe, just maybe they shouldn't join a game if they cannot clear their schedule for a mere 3~5 hours once a week?

Now take PBP and imagine posting something and being unable to progress for literally hours to days even weeks you wait for someone to respond so that you can actually progress by literally one round.

Can you imagine how long it would take for the campaign to progress to a reasonable level let alone finish? It takes text only rise of the runelords literally 1~2 years to finish assuming a weekly session of 5~8 hours assuming that everyone has the discipline to consistently attend.

Forget about it anon. It will not work.

Suboptimal options don't always necessarily mean you have to approach from a different angle.

Just do it the usual way. Primalist archetype, maybe eldritch heritage, power attack for sure then bagoosh!

Just have to accept the fact that you will not be starting with 20 str nor will you ever have as good a stat spread as your typical bloodrager as well as having to put up with a small weapon.

I'm bad at this, but here's my attempt at a Chalice greentext, recap of first two sessions:
First, the party itself:
>Kyoot, the cutebold sorceress
>Rainyday, the half-elven skald lewdist
>Jessup, the psychic warrior who thinks everyone is his greatest fan
>Tarkus, the zealot dudebro
>Laila aka Witch, the autistic warlock
>Neelu, the avowed fish
And the stuff itself:
>the party attended the Gilded Prince's masquerade
>we were given invitations to visit the Gilded Prince by servants who blended in with the crowd
>there, we met one of the public faces of the Gilded Prince (rather than the actual one) and finally met each other
>as soon as we met each other, Rainyday started relentlessly bullying Jessup, never stopping it
>the Gilded Prince's public face told us we were hired to participate in excavations of ancient Djinni ruins full of traps and other dangers
>after discussing the details, we agreed and were told that we're departing in a week
>after leaving the meeting and returning to the masquerade, we noticed half the people there were intently watching us
>creeped out by that, we hecked off
>most of us went home, however, Jessup got drunk to shit and kept drinking all night
>a natural 2 on his diplomacy roll to see how his night fares
>in the morning, Jessup woke up stark naked next to an actual bear, with said bear hugging a bottle of quality import scotch
>Jessup stole the bottle of booze from the bear and bolted
>timeskip of about a week
>the party met up near the caravan
>Rainyday forgot to change into her travelling gear and decided to change clothes right in front of the entire party
>Laila (aka Witch in her vigilante identity) thought that was TOO LEWD and used silent image to censor the process
>turns out Rainy didn't bring greaves due to being a lewdist
>cue high impact sexual bullying between Rainy and Jessup

I mean, this is just me theorycrafting a bit based on the all-kobold-party premise mentioned a thread or two back, but no matter how we cut it, a Strength-based Bloodrager (or any martial, really) is out the window, since Kobolds have -4 STR.

I don't mind playing suboptimal concepts, but if I play a clearly suboptimal concept, I prefer to optimize it. If a class simply cannot be played effectively with a certain race, that's a big hint that that race isn't supposed to be that race.

So it comes down to whether it's possible to build a good-ish dex-based bloodrager with the draconic bloodline; because face it, draconic is the only thing on the table.

There are several things.
The site contains, among other things, an observatory and several shrines devoted to Omadan and Velendren, one of which, according to some information, used to host the Rod of the First Dawn, a major religious relic that many people tried to locate for a while.
Ideally, we need to secure all of these for different reasons. The observatory is useful in itself and any clues to where the relic is now are great.
>>
What do you guys think of the elemental planes? Which one is coolest? I think it would probably be either Earth or Air. The former is just vast caves full of cool stones and crystals, Shaitan cities, skymetal mines, and who knows what other stuff- sorta like the Darklands. The latter is a huge expanse of floating islands and giant iceblocks with lots of flying people and wind spirits.

None of the elemental planes are really that fluffed out though. Were they better in other settings, like Eberron or Planescape?
>>
>>54480062

>>

We didn't ask much about the properties of the relic. The site itself is an ancient Djinni necropolis consecrated to Omadan.
>Velendren
Symbol: A bright white disk upon which two hands are joined in prayer
Domains: Sun, Healing, Protection
Favored weapon: none
Depicted as an older, matronly woman of any race, dressed in finery. Grants blessings to healers, doctors, families, children, guards, and homes.
Followers of Velendren observe the summer solstice as a particularly important day, when the wider family and neighbours gather together to prepare meals together and celebrate. Publically, temples and shrines dedicated to Velendren make a grand feast for the ill and the poor on this day, with all guests welcome.
An acceptable offering for Velendren is a lit hearth with a hearty meal cooking over it, with a bit of grain or rice tossed into the fire.

>Omadan
Symbol: White wolf howling, with one paw atop an open book, atop a black background
Domains: Death, Knowledge, Rune, Magic
Favored weapon: knives, hammers and staves
Depicted as a cowled figure, with features concealed, bearing a gnarled staff. Grants his blessings to scholars and craftsmen.
Followers of Omadan observe the day of the winter solstice as one of particular importance, and it is tradition on those days to gather for long hours of discussion over food and drink. It is also tradition on those days to burn specially prepared incense with inscribed runes in temples. No grand public celebration is observed on those days.
Omadan considers new tomes and scrolls passed into the care of his temples to be an acceptable offering.

RAI can a character take Demonic Obedience for Mestama and Deific Obedience for Calistria? The default for people in golarion is polythiesm. The feats don't say you have to worship only one, share alignments, or even be within the alignment steps of the god. It is just that you worship and complete the daily obedience to maintain the boons.

I've been over this type of thing before in thread. Nothing by raw seems to stop you from doing something like: celestial obedience, fey obedience, demonic obedience, deific obedience and spending, hell knight obedience, and agonizing obedience all in the same day.

There's even a precedent in having multiple obedience observable in the godclaw oracle, who can do so without blowing the feats if they pay the revelation

Instead of the Great Wheel and all the 'Elemental Plane of _______', there was the Feywild and Underdark, Astral Sea and Elemental Chaos.

The Feywild and Underdark where pseudo-reflections of the material world. The Feywild was more magical, with more Arcane energy around, and the Underdark was just Scary Town by another name. You could accidentally wind up lost in them by GM approved incident, such as turning a corner or chasing after an auspicious thief. What is a normal kingdom in the real world could wind up like Alice in Wonderland type thing where the people in power are all giants, or you could wind up on a bad street that gets pulled into the dark and everyone is replaced with a Werewolf.

If you really wanted to go all out on the fantasy, the Astral Sea and Elemental Chaos were harder to reach but provided greater rewards.

Game time and real time are relative. In a single session, days can pass. It's just a minute in fantasy land. Unless you're doing something and it's time sensitive, it doesn't really matter. If you're trying to escape rope binds and patrols are every 5 minutes, you have some time. You won't be restricted to sitting on your hands for 1 real life minute to do this.
>>
>>54481055
Each round being 6 seconds, 10 of them is exactly equal to 1 minute. There's no difference and time can still technically be measured in rounds in and out of combat, it's just annoying most of the time.

If I were going to run a short adventure, would it be a problem to have it all made in advance? Like, all the maps and encounters already made, the plot already determined, all of that before even picking players. On one hand, it's easier on me because it means I can do all the prep work at my own pace before starting the game. but on the other hand, it makes the adventure less flexible- not that it would be impossible for the party to deviate from "the plan" but there would be a certain limit I would need them to operate within (or I would need to make more in the week between sessions, which I may or may not have time for) and I also wouldn't be able to design any part of the adventure with my PCs in mind, neither their builds or their backstories.

>>
>>54482771

It's to the point where I would be a very, very happy boy if the DM allowed us to make NPCs.

Don't kid yourself, campaigns around here NEVER use lategame features or items, and the few times people have suggested an end-game campaign (or even Mythic) they get laughed out of the General.
>>
>>54482820
Secretly hoping the game you get picked for turns out to be a bamboozle? Yeah, that kind of thought has crossed my mind too. People bitch a lot about the app circus, but I genuinely enjoy the whole process.

What might be even worse is that I actually really want to make a character that hits meme-tier status in a thread, without me ever shilling for them. If that happens, it must mean I made a pretty appealing character and I'd also enjoy getting to see people talk about my character. Even if it was only shitty memes, I would like to see it.
>>
>>54482925
>make a character that hits meme-tier status in a thread
This is the part where I feel differently. I love the app circus, the predictions, the memes, but I only want to be a spectator.
I want to make good characters as a personal thing and I take advantage of games as prompts, but I'd hate to get attention because I feel like it'd undermine me in the long run to become any sort of personality. It becomes harder to see your characters objectively as they gain presence I feel.

It's something that occurs in real life. There have been girls with biggers boobs than that before even reaching the minimum age for a level 1 human PC. In terms of biology they could be twice as big. Mobility is the genuinely unrealistic part, not the size.

She is secretly the bastard child of Daikitsu and Nalinivati's divine essence impregnating her mortal mother as part of their secret divine tryst. She inherited Nalinivati's sorcery and Daikitsu's... a-agriculture. That's why her hormones are so excessive and she's a hormonal wreck with the worst Will saves, crossblooded Arcane/Psychic and has two figment scorpion familiars that are black/white with white/black stingers that form a yin-yang when they nestle together. Each one is made from the will of one of her divine guardians as they compete to outdo the other. I want to run games and would have to run short games if I did. The other day I actually asked how long a game would have to run for people to feel like it was worth playing and the answer I got back way around 10 sessions minimum. I'm also >>54482801 so I'm in a situation where I want to run with different ideas that would make for shorter games, but I still don't know for sure if I can commit and I sure as hell don't want to bamboozle people after getting their hopes up. If I started running short games one after the other, it would kind of defeat the purpose of using a short game to avoid locking down a time slot indefinitely, though on the other hand it would be easy enough to finish one short game up and then just not start another one if I'm not ready to lock that time slot down again.

Also, I wouldn't see a point to running an app process that lasts three or four weeks for a game that might only go, say, two months. So the app process would be shorter, but then I don't know if I'd end up with enough good apps at the end of the day since looking at some games they really come in slowly.
>>
>>54483381
She's not horny at all, just emotional. Basically, more hormones do tend to make a girl hornier and hornier, but once you get to the realm of tittymonster level of hormones there's way too much fucking hormone and they tend to lose most sexual desire, so that cliche is not only shitty and overdone, but unrealistic as well.

I didn't want to go into her personality too much since Anon only questioned reasoning behind the boobs and I was already bordering on a blog post.
>>
>>54482968
>>54482998
You guys probably aren't wrong, but it's still something I'd like to experience. I feel like I'm in a weird place because I try to avoid developing any sort of reputation or "public personality" (IE never breaking from anonymity in-thread, not being part of the cabal or whatever other cliques might be floating around now) but I also would like to make a character that's so popular that people want to talk about them. To me, that would be like... a sign of success, I guess? That's only true if there's a good reason for them to be talked about, and not just forced memes, art carries, or lewd potential making people thirsty. What that means, I suppose, is that even though I would like to remain obscure, I would like my characters to stand out from the crowd.

>>54482994

Concept idea: in a melting pot city, you, the party (a ragtag bunch of misfits from all walks of life) have to band together and keep your little slice of the community with your families in it nice and safe from outside influence, ranging from the gang from across the street and human supremacists to corrupt City officials and organized foreign crime. The melting pot city is basically New York or Atlanta turned up to eleven, with kemonomimishit, orcs, elves, dwarves, and other races all living together in relative harmony.

Yes or no /pgg/? Would run from like a level 1 prologue to maybe level 8, Psionics and Akashic being the main forms of magic with limited Path of War thrown in to make things interesting, but I'm iffy on including PoW though.

RotJR was a pathfinder campaign which completely changed how campaigns were advertised, ran, and picked.

The weeks long application period, the thread memes, the celebrity players/GMs, all of it came from this one game.

The person is wondering if sfg games will follow the trend, or will come up with a whole new system.

How many Animes were accepted into Ensoulment or PLD?
>>
>>54484266
I'll confess I haven't been in this community long but I'd say ensoulment mostly picked "western" style characters, I don't think you could call any of them anime except maybe Rae or Sibyl.

What's a "Slow character"?

Let's be honest, these will be the Starfinder games:

VR space station crawl for testing (Gnoll is equipped with RPG and AK, GO!)

Star Fox (Humans = Vulpine, etc.)

Macross (I want to be the Giant Kitsune Envoy)

Resident Evil Mansion IN SPACE all about the dangers of gene engineering and/or capitalism

Intrigue ^ Corporation

I'm always a bit keen on refluffing magic and such in order to better fit a city. Psionics can stay as it is, as "weird-ass mind magic", while Akashic can be refluffed from "weird chakra stuff" to something more befitting a city environment. Perhaps magical, reconfigurable devices that are worn around the various body slots and changing what they do is sorta related to psionic stuff? I can always toy with the fluff if need be. Was planning on most magic being Occult, Psionic, or Akashic anyhow

Because it's a vague, poorly defined word that's entirely meaningless. Anime-exclusive genres probably only include CGDCT, and possibly Yuri/Yaoi sports anime.

>What's a "Slow character"?
Captain Slow is one of those celebrities who's famous mostly because he's already famous so nobody questions it. Like Paris Hilton was for a while.

I can't tell if he's in on the joke, or buying his own hype, but he tends to make either ASoIaF characters with the names changed, usually older men, often OD/ZS Warders. And he made a character for RotJR (again, we come back to that shitshow as the root of the problem) who single-handedly raised up the insufferable daddy fetish memes that still haunt this general.

That said, if the main complaint is that he makes similar characters, I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. Most of us tend to typecast ourselves into a role we like.

Yeah, they're wrong.

>>54484376
There might be an argument that Rae and Sibyl are the less anime girls. Masculine fencer girls are an old shoujo staple, powerful matronly women dragging around dumb cutesy minions is pretty much only found in anime.

Calling characters "anime" in most circumstances is arbitrary and useless. Sometimes a character plays out the cliches full-blown, but for the most part I don't think there's any ground to stand on.

A woman straining against the circumstances of her birth, and an enchantress waited on hand and foot by thralls, are both western tropes as old as time.

Derrin seems way more Utena than Julie d'Aubigny and her particular branding is something you'll still find in a lot of manga but very little western fantasy. In the case of the enchantress, I really can't think of any examples of the personality that doesn't come from anime or anime games.

It sounds like "anime" is just the word people use for "bad app".
>>
>>54485148
It's the word people use for "this app triggers me so I'm going to complain about weeaboos"
>>
>>54485148
Yeah, this discussion is riddled with semantics. It's like "edgy", a label some people use to mean "dark" and others use to mean "extremely low quality dark" which leads to endless insult and arguement over basically nothing.

"Anime" is a pretty vacuous label, although I do think MOST people understand here understand it to mean "shallowly derivative of popular anime tropes and styles", but some just mean "Derivative of eastern tropes and styles" which isn't really an insult.
>>
>>54485148
Post hoc ergo propter hoc, Anon.

Apps are bad because they religiously stick to anime cliches with no creative spark on the writer's part; not anime because they're bad.

Can a sense of having technology in a game come about if all magic items are refluffed as tech? A Belt of Giant's Strength +4 is actually like a mechanical exoskeleton, a wand of cure light wounds is syringe full of healing nanobots, etc? Would you enjoy a game like that, or just feel like it's weird?

THe idea is being able to use tech stuff in a game without actually worrying about the fact that actual tech items are bad.
