the show was actually pretty inaccurate when it came to hamsters but played into childrens' fantasies about what their pets did during the day.

My sister wanted a hamster after watching the cartoon. It slept all day and then spent all night running on it's wheel, pausing only to eat or drink. It seemed pretty content with that life but didn't live too long.

The show basically ran on Toy Story logic. I understand childhood expectations can be all over the place, but I don't think it's a very good criticism of Hamtaro
