I always felt that certain personalities worked better with lolis than adult women. If you have a loli that's easily scared and has to depend on you it's cute but if you have a character that looks to be 25 years old (or older) being scared of the dark I would see that as a negative trait.

We had a strawpoll before and I think ~5 people said that they where straight females/gay men in total. Of course bisexuals also existed and where something like ~10 people extra.

CYOAs take a lot of time and making one for "just" five people is probably seen as a waste. Most make CYOAs that they like personally (/tg/ers make adventure CYOAs and waifufags make waifu CYOAs).

I agree with exception of CYOA which revolve around choosing a waifu as that would be their point. That's ot an argument. CYOA are often of a much more narrow scope. You instead propose for me to take a book made with intention of diverse cast in mind and then swap characters for simple, archetypical versions against intent of the creator and scope of the book - and that somehow proves that CYOA would be bad? That's nonsense. Cast should be diverse as uch as it befits the CYOA and the point of making it. If I want to play rare "Choose your husbando" CYOA, I expect all choices to be guys, the same way I want girls in "Choose your waifu". Horseman Apocylopse Kingdom has gender diversity and has great companions too. What CYOA creators need to do is give you a reason not to always choose cute girl. A goal of sorts. Coming up with the character names was easy, for the most part. Still missing one or two, and I haven't quite figured out Susie Dodson's appellation.

Traveller initially was quite interesting, but it fell to horrible trap most trans-dimensional, reference-laden -themed CYOA do - it became an unsavory mishmash of different ideas and expies, losing its own unique atmosphere and being more like Jump CYOAs put all in one. My appearance would be like pic related but with leather driving gloves and dark aviator sunglasses. I'd always have my surgical mask on and if the previous one gets dirty I immediately replace it with another one.

The hook would be that all of the people in my group I've helped by patching up their wounds and our mutual interest in each others backstories and skills keeps us together. Once the missions start happening it goes full helter skelter but we'd have some buildup to it by having to fight of tribals, slavers, raiders, etc trying to collect bounties on Burned Man & Marco/ trying to steal our medicine. In the end our tale would be revealed to have been told by the Lonesome Drifter long after we had parted ways/or passed away after saving the world from the Rise of The Mutants. The story began as it ended, with it's title "Redemption Rode".

what. I legitimately don't understand this. Like, this just seems completely contradictory to me. How can something that is nothing have sentient entites 'existing(?)' inside it? Maybe if I explain it s different way. We say something "exists" if it can be found in reality. A chair "exists." But the concept of a chair is harder to pin down. You could say the concept exists as neuronal activity, and is shared across people, but that wasn't a satisfying answer for certain philosophers. Plato conceived of a world of ideas, perfect in every way, and objects that we understood as existing were flawed recreations of that perfect world of ideas. This influenced a sect called the Gnostics, who thought that all material existence was an illusionary trap and that the "true" reality/existence was non-material and beyond it. Pure consciousness/ideas, untainted by existence in this illusionary world.

That's a simplified version of the actual concepts, but it's essentially what I went with. Nothing but souls "exist" after the fact, except you are out of reality so even a word like exists is dicey. It would be a very surreal sort of consciousness, as you wouldn't even be in a material brain anymore. I'm bad at explaining things, so maybe a wiki article could help. Sorry.

Ideas definitely exist though, they are just not perceivable, so either 'nothing' is supposed to mean something different or the wording is wrong.
Even then, the world of ideas is completely static, so it can't act or be sentient in any form. Also, souls are not and can not be part of it. So souls would still have to be independent, though their existence would be pointless if there was nothing else.

I'm working on a Chosen Hero's Evil-slaying Force CYOA. It's an isekai-esque CYOA about a hero summoned to destroy a menace that threatens the world's food supply.

Neither the theory of ideas nor Gnosticism is compatible with "pure consciousness". The theory of ideas excludes individuality, so individuals like souls can't exist in it, only the concept of souls.
Gnosticism is even weirder, because while souls can survive, they get 'purified' and merge with the divine. You definitely won't be an individual soul capable of thinking and reconsidering their actions then.
In general, like >>54274194 said, ideas are perfect and thus static, so there is no meaningful way to interact with them. The only thing that you can do is try to infer them from perceivable objects. So if there are none left, there is nothing left to do really.
