Speaking of Autochthon...

Having read the Cities of the World jump, I've been inspired to give a Colossus/Polis option a shot. Currently it is a kind of multi-levelled capstone.

As I'm a little concerned about getting the feel and power involved right, how do people feel about this, the tentative final perk for it:

>400 - ...it is the Sum of its People [Essence 9] (requires all previous perks)
>All life within your borders is a part of yourself, just as you are a part of them.
>From merely receiving it in prayer, you now have a deeper bond to your citizens. Essence (and other energies) can be passed back and forth with minimal loss, and the deep well of the people's pride can be tapped in times of emergency - lending you their strength, speed and resilience, to directly reinforce your Charms and avatars. Those who live within your borders for a prolonged period, exposed to this fundamental interconnectedness, will also find their health and personal power being stimulated somewhat by your own - leading to a naturally higher level of personal Essence, an improved sense of community, a greater ability to engage with any aspect of Polis-culture - from its sciences to the arts - and numerous other small benefits.

>On the individual scale, this contract can be formed with any organization you are considered a meaningful or defining leader of - though in this case it requires either conscious acceptance or an honest internalisation of that organization's principles. The ability to tap attributes additionally requires prior and active agreement, and is a semi-permanent transferral - those who grant you these qualities lose them to such a degree that it threatens their life, those drained of strength left unable to even lift their heads; those drained of wits, stripped of memory. The transfer lasts for as long as they live, unless somehow disrupted or the pact is deliberately annulled - by either party.

It would be so sad if he was the only actual Jumper here.

The fact that this is your second attempt at making a thread all about shitposting about him does.
>>
>>53537790
I'm actually already using Jumpveria in the combo. But this is Gundam, so I'm fluffing it as being a space colony itself. I want the space elevator so that I can launch things up to the colony without having to pay either the Earth Alliance (currently being infiltrated and taken over by the Illuminati using a racist terrorist group as their medium, making them bad business partners) or the Emirate of Orb (very preachy and entitled and I hate them, the whole point of establishing Jumpveria in Gundam SEED is to upstage them at every point possible). So I want my own heavy launch device. A space elevator, or a mass driver, or a laser launch facility, or whatever.

Artifacts (600 CP)
And here we are - the weapons of great heroes, tragic villains, and the worst that the world of Azeroth has had to face. These Artifacts all bear great and terrible power, and something more horrifying altogether - Potential.

All of the Artifacts available for purchase below can be found in the greater world - or, in certain instances, will be created during the events of the fourth Legion invasion. And they will bear their capacity for growth even then, although as some heroes will find that potential will eventually plateau. By purchasing them here, you can be well assured that your Artifact’s growth rate will continue to rise.

Each Artifact grows in different ways and by using different methods, but there is one shared across all of them - by sacrificing other items and objects filled with magical energy, the Artifact will take that resulting energy in as it’s own, and slowly expend it to increase it’s own parameters and capability. Although there are ways to guide this growth specifically...
Hint: Look at the benefits associated with Order Leadership perk.

We're gettin' there. slowly but surely we're getting there.

Even if it started as a shitpost as you said it can still be treated like a normal thread.

I saw, I'm just spiting you. I think that the guy trying to convince no one to post is more of a shitposter than the guy who's weirdly obsessed with the douchebag that haunts these threads. After all, is it really shitposting when talking about how horrible bancho is is one of Jumpchain's most time-honored traditions?

I've been debating on that. I mean for some it'll work no problem - just import a sword into Ashbringer, hammer into The Silver Hand, bish-bosh-kibosh.

Then you got the fuckier options like the fact that all of the Rogue artifacts are split between two - the Kingslayers are two daggers, the Dreadblades are two swords, etc. Same with Druid's claws, Demon Hunter's glaives, etc.

If I can find a way to make THAT work, I'll allow imports for all. Sound good?

Importing a skull sounds interesting, actually.
>>
>>53538036

In this case, it's a case of a thematic perk rather than a strictly canonical one. I felt it was appropriate given the relative lack of known Polis capabilities.

>>53538148

Yes, each step puts you up one Essence:

Elder Alchemical [each level requires the previous]
100 - Colossus: Macrochassis (upscale Charms, etc) [Essence 6]
200 - (TBD) [Essence 7]
300 - Polis: Subdistrict Spirits (create little spirits to manage your components/abilities) [Essence 8]
400 - Collective Will Empowerment Thing [Essence 9]

>>

>In this case, it's a case of a thematic perk rather than a strictly canonical one. I felt it was appropriate given the relative lack of known Polis capabilities.
I mean, they're infrastructure... But fair enough.

Why no essence 10 though?

Also, we can still advance in Essence normally with retrofits and age, right?

>>53538413
You'd be a very shiny city then.
>>
>>53538444
The only one I can think of is the Pandora's Box item (not actually a box) from Justice League Dark.
>>
>>53538448
Cats, yes. The Fangs of Ashamane, a pair of daggers that enhance your cat form on the same level as the Claws. Owlkin form is mostly a sub-mode for Balance Druids who get the Scythe of Elune, and Treant's a super-mode for Restoration Druids whose artifact is the last branch and part of the trunk of G'Hanir the Mother Tree.
>>
>>53538413
Third Circle Demons are often E9, so think living natural disaster only being Exalted instead of Demons the Alchemicals are probably stronger.

I'm going to try this again because I didn't get much in the way of helpful comments from the last thread.

Divinity: Original Sin WIP 0.36 - Magic Edition

If you scroll down to Aerotheurge, you'll find the section is now completely, along with a little foreword about Magic in Rivellon itself. I would like to know if people like the way it is set up or if they don't. "Why" would also be helpful to include. I mainly worried I'm a little off base, but I think the format I'm using is a little more flavorful and thematic than just "Here's X magic."

Also Talents have been roughed in and some Discounts have been changed around. May change them back considering Loremaster is turning into somewhat of a larger Talent than I expected. It may go back to being a Skill.
>>
>>53538509

>>
>>53538413

Very powerful.

Alchemicals are powerful in a more physical way than the others though - so to destroy an unsightly mountain they need to construct a massive Wave Motion Cannon, instead of just casting fist.

But not quite so powerful that the canon cities are easily capable of saving Autochthon, fighting back the Void, and ensuring their people don't live lives of mindless toil. That said, part of that is because they're in a very delicate position in terms of resource scarcity and their Essence budget.

>>53538432

Hrm. Might be a bit like Mir - emotionless and hyperefficient. The completed tower might also be a gigantic memetic antenna that sings the glories of serving the Populat in a superhumanly persuasive fashion.

>>53538449

Going up to 9 fit neatly, and it leaves room to grow - that said, might be worth being a quick scenario.

Kind of hard to say. The scale only goes up to 10, so that might lead you to think that you're just shy of the most powerful thing in the setting. But what charms you have is more important than what your Essence is, with Essence only unlocking access to stronger charms and giving you a larger resource pool to spend on casting them. And we don't have any examples of Alchemicals charms beyond Essnce 5. But, for a point of comparison, Alchemicals are generally considered to be able to reach the same power level as Solaroids (Solars, Abyssals and Infernals) in their field of specialty, though falling behind in other areas. At Essence 9, a Solar can locally rewrite laws of physics, cast their enemies into eternal torment in hell, enchant themselves so that when they die their ghost will be an eternal guardian spirit for their organization, move at the speed of light, block natural disasters with their bare hands, all sorts of weird stuff. Not saying you'll be able to do those things in particular, you'll be using Alchemical themes of "the orthodoxy of the Machine God" instead of Solar themes of "I am so awesome I can do anything", but comparable power level.

Is there any benefit to buying Grail Knight and also winning the Green Knight Scenario? Does the scenario reward render the Grail Knight perk redundant.

The Empress is Essence 8 I believe.

She is also weaker than any other type of Exalted would be at that level.
>>
>>53538710
Yeah, buying both makes you super buff, plus being a Grail Knight would help with dealing with the more physical challenges.
>>
>>53538766
Current canon also has Mjolnir being a prison for a feminine cosmic fart and Odin being stalemated by an 70 pound cancer patient.
>>
>>53538710
Considering it tricks things into thinking your pure of heart, it might help trick the blade for the final challenge. At least having all that goodness would make you more capable of succeeding the final challenge.
>>
>>53538884
The scenario Reward makes you just like the Green Knight, who is already far stronger than any normal Grail Knight.

You can't even really say that they would stack since the actual green knight was a Grail Knight before he became the Green Knight.

It isn't actually as stupid as it sounds, still stupid but not quite that bad. Odin is, without tapping the Odinforce, weaker than Thor and presumably any who hold the hammer. Still stronger than most Asguardians with out it but the Odinforce is what makes him the strongest.

He still jobbed by not using the Odinforce but there is at least a half decent explanation for it if you look for one, then again if he was going to use the Odinforce to deal with her he would have snapped his fingers to deal with her from the start. Though why exactly he didn't do exactly that is also a mystery.
>>
>>53538959
You're not becoming just like the Green Knight, you're succeeding him and gaining his powers. Those powers should stack with what you already have. Even if it doesn't, Grail Knight would help with both that one trial involving escaping through a forest filled with monsters while being pursued by a lord and his knights and dogs, as well as any other difficulties or enemies you'll face before becoming the Green Knight.

Yeah, and he also nearly died before becoming the Green Knight. The circumstances are different here.

I hope Lore wise. Like I know Vengence Demon Hunter's weapons are from the first Blood Elf demonhunter. The weapons are chipped & weather beaten, however they've slayed countless demons.

Shaman's elemental fist was crafted by the Titans and given to Watcher Ra, whom created the Mogul, which he was named Ra-Den by them. The fist weapon is able to channel the fury of a storm, while the shield is able to call forth the four elements. Considering he was Azeroth's Warden for the Elemental Planes and the mantle is passed on to the user. You can call forth the beck & call of the Elemental Lords.

Which considering you spend all your leveling time as a Shaman helping rebuild the Elemental Lords. Is pretty awesome. However gameplay wise you had a chance of casting an extra lightning spell. Which pales compared to
Boomkins, "I bring down the moon on your ass".

>>53539965

Ah, I see. Yeah - the purity of possessing no emotions would definitely be a boost, but not an amazingly dramatic one.

An Alchemical Reyvateil would probably get more from their boosted intelligence/durability, potential Song Charms, and by applying excellencies to Song Science and creating an even more potent language, etc, etc.

Combining the Metropolis with the Tower... hm. Poleis can already build themselves into arcology-scale structures, and if they had the free space would probably soar - but yeah, that's a good question.

Plus, Lord of Light has the City of Heaven, and there are other jumps with property-creating items...

Hm, I'll make a note about that, probably a perk for easy integration.
>>
Jumpers, how much of the power you have is stuff you built up on your own compared to what your perks allow you to do?
>>
>>53540401
All of it. I don't take perks beyond "You are capable of X", so that I can train it on my own. So I'll take a perk that lets be do that universe's magic, then learn it on my own.
>>
>>53540401

>>53540427

Origins are a chunk of machinery surrounded by salt water made into human form by song. Betas are entirely that fluid shaped into human form by song. Third gen are cyborgs. They administer and control the function of a tower. They sing to sync up with that tower and make use of its capabilities to produce songs that effect reality, or else get the tower to change its own functioning in some way. So I don't know how they are similar.

That doesn't matter. If all your powers were stripped away then it doesn't matter how much you trained your magic, you lose access to it. It's supported by perk fiat as a base, so regardless of how much you trained to get better at it, you didn't earn or build up anything. The only thing that actually counts as far as improvement goes is items, mundane skills, and knowledge, because those are usually unaffected by drawbacks.

Well it also turns out that Disgaea was like, IMMEDIATELY before that one as well. So I had a small pocket army. On top of Worm's "Best in the Business" letting anyone under my command become eerily competent at what they do in a very short time, Digital Devil Saga granting tactical skill and a whole army base with weapons for demons, and SMT/Soul Hackers/Doom 2016/DMC giving a ton for demonic experiments/splicing.

In short, I pretty much took the leash off and went Sauron on their asses, letting them go absolutely nuts on the other Bels' armies in order to secure humanity's future. Survivors of enemy armies were recruited or... repurposed. Beldr was probably the only enemy commander who lived. As in, not devoured.

So you can imagine Lucifer's reaction at finding a fuckhuge army waiting for him, chuckling and putting up his "fuck you" abilities... only for them to fizzle out a second or two later while said army proceeded to blot the sky with bullets and blades.
>>
>>53541159
Oh, and Dungeons and Dragons (All the jumps iirc) explicitly have Summoner as a prestige class and Augment Summoning is pretty good to make your summoned creatures to be even STRONGER than usual.
>>
>>53540811
It actually doesn't, or at least nothing of the sort is mentioned anywhere in the jump document.
It lets you benefit from cultivating (via free perk), but nothing in the jump even implies that it completely removes your limits.
It just raises what those limits are compared to RL because ki-use/Xianxia.

That's what the pill is for. You can presumably acquire it in-jump or make it yourself if you take the Pharmacist perks/learn how, but unless you stay longer than 10 years i'd say that's unlikely to the extreme.

The pill can also be duplicated and handed out to your friends in other worlds, which is a definite benefit.

Or at least that's my interpretation. I'm not the author after all. Fanwank as a you like.
But i'd hesitate to use any interpretation that ends with "that 400cp item is useless" in an otherwise pretty well written jump.

Sakura is a slayer of Jumpers. It doesn't matter whether you are a hero or a villain, this young lady is no joke. She can noscope you with magic from anywhere in the globe. She can freeze you in an endless time loop and force you to make a bargain. She can erase you from existence with a wave of her hand. And she will do so with a smile on her face and a song in her heart, for she hates all Jumpers, and all that they stand for.

Mandatory meme is out of the way, now. Actually it's a very cozy setting and Sakura is one of the friendliest people you can meet on the chain. You're not in danger as long as you avoid some of the more OP Clow Cards, and they're not inherently malicious, last I checked? You're not in any significant danger outside of that...unless you, somehow or someway, actively get involved in CLAMP's mini-multiverse.

Then shit gets weird.

Taking the Clow Reeds Hates You drawback may, ironically, all but guarantee your survival.

I'm basing this on stuff I heard second hand, and thus may be false, but apparently he was an extremely powerful precog, powerful to the point that pretty much everything that happens in the show was planned by him. Taking that drawback means he includes you in his predictions and, since the drawback reads like he just wants to make your life miserable instead of killing you, he'll probably arrange for you to survive. Your stay is going to be very unpleasant, however.

Actually most of the magic perks are in Drop-In.

...

Yeah, I don't get it either. Anyways, Sakura's spells are fueled by Clow Cards that contain individual spells that use these effects, so they're a component needed for said spells. So they can be stolen, interrupted, etc. The picture is also an exaggeration, though Cardcaptor magic does have more oomphf than folks give it credit for, last I checked. Either way, you can probably keep them if you go Cardcaptor yourself, since you'll be collecting them anyways. Not sure if you'd get to keep it? I'd have to double check what happens in the canon's ending.

Curiously, while browsing that dumb VS wiki, I discovered they don't have a page on Sakura or any CLAMPverse characters. I joked about it, saying 'WE HAVE FOUND THE HIDDEN OP OF JUMPCHAIN'

War… it seems like I can’t escape it, every other jump I am thrust in to a situation where I have to kill a lot of people.

This time I got to watch my home burn as the bastard Germans over ran it. We fought hard to give the other platoons time to retreat. We were among the last standing and fighting. We were ordered to flee, to hold out as long as we could then escape. I knew I wasn’t up for that and I told my men. In a touching display of loyalty they choose to stay too.

It’s funny to even fight in this infernal war I had to hide my gender, as did several of my companions. The rest of my troops knew but by some minor miracle the higher ups didn’t (something to do with Jump-chan I am sure) even before I awoke.

So instead of running we vanished we went underground taking our equipment and hiding. We decided we would help build a resistance and strike from the shadows. Oddly do to the gender of my companions and myself we were very successful at hiding during the occupation. Our other troops got in to the act too. The Germans weren’t looking for women.

(to be continued)

We struck at high ranking soldiers, they would disappear without a trace. We also used bombs and sabotage but taking out their leadership quietly seemed to hurt them the worst. I also used my more subtle super powers to good effect. Equipment would just fail do to telekinesis or I would take secret information from the minds of the commanders using telepathy. I also used my pocket dimensions to hide people so we would appear out of nowhere to strike and fade away. Some German soldiers began to speak of the ghosts of France were against them. Something I used Illusions to help perpetuate.

Their Occupation in France quickly fell in to shambles and they had to send a greater number of forces to maintain control. In the end I had a lot of regrets but we most of my platoon stayed alive and we wound up helping to liberate France.

>>
>>53541988
A good thing, having friends to cover your weaknesses and help you when you're in trouble is a great advantage. But I do not believe in some inherent power of friendship, where just having people believing in you and supporting you emotionally lets you overcome anything. They need to actually do something to help you, emotional support only goes so far. Even if you've got some mystical energy that you can create through friendship this way, it's still lazy and a cop-out and the people who rely on such power should feel bad about themselves. I'm all for friendship, friendship is great. But make it be practical. Like, at least let the power boost you get from a friend in some way reflect that friend. Like Social Links in Persona, I'm fine with those because you get Personas of an Arcana by interacting with people who embody that Arcana, strengthening your ability to understand that part of the Fool's Journey and then filling you with power to manifest it. But if you just got stat upgrades for being friends with them, that would be so boring and dumb.

I'd say the latter. And given how he's reincarnated into the setting, twice-over, although only one is aware of himself as Clow Reed reincarnation, he's in a position to do things to actively make life difficult.
The other reincarnation is Sakura's dad.

Agreed. Although I tend towards nanotech or per-reinforced loyalty. Normal friendship just isn't something you can rely on in the context of Jumpchain; too many heroes have been back-stabbd by friends who thought they were being good friends, but were in fact being little pricks.

It can be pretty powerful, but finding dependable friends that I click with in this world is hard for me imo.

Also I've had a bad experience with the power of friendship. I got saddled with a shitty ass group of magical girls who were terrible people but the kind of terrible person that rationalizes to themselves that they're terrible out of necessity and always treated me like crap for being a burden on the group. I didn't have any other friends in that world.

So when the time came to harness the power of friendship to seal away the Demon Queen it didn't fucking work. The less said about what happened next the better. Gentarou helped me get over my issues but I don't think it'll ever leave me, what happened then.

So in my opinion, I think you should only rely on it if you know for certain you can trust them.

Headpats for Worm_Anon
>>
>>53542912
I know I say this for everything, but....Symbiote. Berserker OS, makes your bones into a quantum computer that can easily dedicate itself to complex kinematics equations. Those sorts of tricks are things the characters can do. Supplying yourself with enough energy and dissipating heat are problems, but I'm sure you can get around those with other perks. Plenty of "you don't need to eat" perks, and heat resistance is also easily available.
>>
>>53543235
Headpats are gateway drug to heavy petting!
>>
>>53542912
Aside from the Worm thing, you could probably do that by getting the Berzerker OS in Symbiote.

Quantum computing for a mental processing speed increase of 600x, which stacked with the Symbiote 40x human, would be an increase of 24000 times normal.

They or you would also be able to do the calculations easily enough.
>>
>>53543189
>Why have I been hearing about a Worm update, anyway? The jumps great. Does it really need an update?
Some of the powers are too weak compared to the others, some are being wanked to absurdity, he wants there to be a power for each possible roll result (8 power per category instead of 4), and there is at least one new origin he wanted to add.

My starter from way back in Pokemon became something of a keikaku type. I'm not really sure whether she's my right hand or I'm hers sometimes. >>
>>53543283
Wouldn't that be 640x? You don't multiply multipliers! 2^2 x 2^3 = 4^5,
2^2 x 2^3 =/= 4^6
>>
>>53543538
The 40x is the base Symbiote mental speed, compared to a human.

The 600x is the Berzerker OS mental speed, compared to a normal Symbiote.

Thus, 600 times faster than other Symbiotes, and 24000 times faster than a human's mental speed.
>>
>>53543538
Nope. Because it multiplies the symbiote's processing speed, and it's already forty times faster than a human. It's not base times forty times six hundred, it's just base times six hundred, with the base happening to be higher than human.

>>
>>53544285
The powers don't really fit the setting anyway. I mean, they're actually good. If this was 100% faithful to the grimdarkness of Worm, using the powers at all would destroy your life and conjure an Endbringer designed specifically to punch you in the genitals. Also, it follows you to subsequent jumps.
>>

Alt-forms don't actually exist, they're just really good costume. If you look closely, you can see the zipper on the back of that kaiju.

That sounds kinda interesting, not the 'follows you to other settings' nonsense but the idea of a personal endbringer whose whole goal in life is to punch you in the dick. Metaphorically as well as physically. It fits with the theme of Worm at the very least.
>>
>>53544447
I wanna say you should pitch that to Worm as a drawback idea, but it probably has too much overlap with the Personal Problems drawback and the "Endbringers always attack where you are" drawback.
>>
>>53544479
>>53544447

They are an alternate form you can transform into.

>Can they stack?

As far as that goes you probably need a perk like Final Form from Sword Art Online, or the Hulk form from Earth's Mightest Heroes. Both of those allow you to mix and match aspects as you want.

>>Can I switch in between them when I want?

Sure. Some prescript a short time it takes to transform, others use it like a power in and of itself.

> How do perks work with them?

I always house ruled that they have access to the perks I bought with them, and anything I consider to be part of my base form. For example if I get a superpower I can use it in pretty much any form, but the actual vampire powers would only be accessible in the vampire form. Unless again your suing a perk to merge, then anything goes.

Doctor's Companion relies on The Doctor to lead. The Doctor is super smart and has a good and moral heart, so he would do that.

Every time you go through a jump with a race selection or when the jump makes you a non-human be default, that form becomes an optional alternate form you can transform into.

>Can they stack?
Not unless you have a Perk saying you can combine them.

>Can I switch in between them when I want?
Yes.

>How do perks work with them?
It would be pretty pointless to pay up to 1000 CP on something that turns all your perks off, no? Perks work in all alt forms unless there's a specific reason why they wouldn't, like a perk that makes you ambidextrous in a dog alt form.

>>
>>53544325
There's no hard and fast rules about it, really.
I always imagine that alt-forms experience the same sort of timeless state the Warehouse does when not in use, meaning they can neither get better or worse until you use it.
I also figure that the switch is more or less at a thought, and pretty much instant.
I generally don't think they can stack unless you've got one of those perks that let's mix and match alt-forms.

I figure that the more general perks (strength, speed, appearance, etc) are universal between alt-forms, but how they play out on specific bodies is in the details. I also figure that superpowers that don't rely on specific bodyparts are also universal, so if I'm a Tamaranean from Teen Titans, I can still fly around and shoot plasma out of whatever eyes I have as a Shoggoth.
But something like the metal skin for a kaiju alt-form from Pacific Rim would only be for it. Unless you've got one of those perks that lets you mix and match.

Daily reminder that Taylor's ability is actually really strong because of it's secondary powers, and that you can only claim it's weak if you misleadingly undersell it as "can control bugs."

Multi dimensional powers are a thing in Worm for some reason, its likely that the Endbringers have some way of traveling through them, and if nothing else the Simurgh would probably build something to rescue them.

Go for it anyway though, it has not been tried in canon.

>>
>>53544634
Yes, obviously. She doesn't have huge offense (at least, against non-human targets, ordinary people she can strip to the bone) or defense, but it grants command and control skills second to none. Worm is not, as some of its fanboys like to argue, a story about a character who minmaxes her weak powers to be super awesome. It's a story about how information and mental processing abilities can be just as if not more useful than traditionally superheroic powers like enhanced strength or energy blasts. Taylor's got some clever tricks with her abilities, but at the end of the day I don't think she's a powergamer. She's just using her powers as they're meant to be, not discovering some crazy exploit.

>>

The first one. "Bancho" is a Japanese word that roughly translates to "delinquent", and has become associated with the aesthetic of the longcoat and pompadour worn by a tough gangster guy. Since bancho anon is determined to drive that look into the ground, he's taken it for his own. He used to be "teratophilia anon", a reference to his horrible, horrible fetish for deformity. "Terato" is a prefix referring to cancers and birth defects.

Considering what sticking one hundred percent to the canon narrative themes would do, namely crippling any ability to approach the setting from any direction other than what went down, I think it's for the best. I mean can you imagine what kind of salt would abound with Ziz and Contessa if the free perk wasn't in there?

Not to mention the frustration of there being all these really badass capes who got tons of neat bells and whistles but locking people into being undersider-tier?

I do worry about it at times, but I'd rather people have fun with the jump and it work as best as possible within the framework of /jc/ as a cyoa than making it one hundred percent true to wildbow's...particular rigid railroad of misery.

I'm not salty about how so many word of god statements are just plot device BS to make it so things can't deviate at all from canon even potentially, god for fucking forbid that powers could be used creatively to overcome Zion like you fucking said they'd need to be Wildbow, it's gotta be a Taylor jailbreaking or nothing you plot device pushing piece of fucking shit

Wildblow is one of the few people I ignore his WoG on when it comes to powerlevels and interacting with other settings. If it's about fleshing out powers, and the world at large? That's fine. But Wildblow really needs to stop it with this powerwanking of the setting. As it makes the events in the story impossible to work with logically.

So it's really up to you with how to handle this.
>>
>>53544634
Well, yeah. She's a Master that can micromanage countless millions of minions. At a certain point it stops matter how pathetic the individual thralls are when you have a near-limitless number of them and you can control each one perfectly and get a constant information feed from their senses.
You can solve almost any problem by throwing enough numbers at it.
>>53544732
>She's just using her powers as they're meant to be, not discovering some crazy exploit.
To be fair, most people in Worm are fairly stupid and don't do this.
Stormtiger has aerokinesis, and how does he use it? Air armor and air claws. He can also enhance his hearing and sense of smell. But there's nothing stopping him from playing hardball with his powers, he chooses not to.
Hookwolf can turn into what is essential a Shoggoth made of sharp pieces of metal. But what he usually does is take the form of a metal wolf. Because he's ~thematic~ like every Parahuman. They intentionally gimp themselves and box themselves into a mental corner.
Taylor doesn't do this, which is why she continuously curbstomped Villains and Heroes alike. It doesn't hurt that her power had flexibility and utility out the wazoo, but still.

>so that it was twelve categories with twelve powers each
Woah! Back up there buddy. I think I see the problem here. Why are you putting so much on your plate? I thought you were filling out the d8 rolls.

I agree with the suggestion to release the update WIP in stages.
Conspirator Background, Perks, & Items, that's an update.
Entity Shard Background, Perks, & Items, that's an update.
Adding 24 more powers so each category has 6 powers, one update.
Adding another set of 24 powers so each category has 8 powers, another update.
Adding yet another set of 24 powers so each category has 10 powers is its own update.
The last set of 24 powers for that OCD 12X12 is way, way down the road.
You are trying to hold in 6+ updates worth of content and make them perfect all at once. No wonder you are panicking.

Any other incidentals like new drawbacks add as they occur to you.
Is there going to be some perk dealing with Manton Limits? I'd like to see something to adjust your (and maybe other peoples) powers to add and remove manton style limits.
>>
>>53544634

Even weak interpretations of "can control bugs" (that aren't trying to win an argument over the weakest interpretation) are pretty strong.

Just an ordinary swarm of angry bees without intelligent control is virtually impossible to defend against short of running the fuck away.

I don't think anyone was saying that bug control was weak until Taylor kept telling the audience that it sucked, in defiance of literally everything she did with it.

Sometimes A jump just doesn’t really make sense even after the fact. This world was… interesting to say the least. There was actually a fashion police. It was a world all about appearances and Fashion was serious business.

It was strange how ruthless things would get behind the scenes. I don’t know how many assassination attempts my companions and I dodged because someone wanted some contract we were supposed to sign.

There were ninjas who were amazingly fashionable who went around killing those who did not meet the fashion code. It was an insane world and kind of nerve wracking with all the rules you had to remember, not wearing white after labor day, what labels were in fashion right now and acceptable, what went with what best.

It was a crazy world.

I've never watched Tokyo Ghoul, but they seem to be a kind of mutant rather than a whole race. Plus they both have their powers expressed as Perks.

I'd run it as Dark Eldar giving you a Dark Eldar alt-form, the Dark Eldar Physiology Perk giving all your alt forms Dark Eldar traits, and Ghoul Physiology giving all your alt forms Ghoul powers. So you have two forms, both of which are Dark Eldar Ghouls.

But most people aren't as autistic about following the letter as RAW as I am, and would run it as having a human form and a Dark Eldar alt form, both with ghoul powers.

I loathe Worm and hate most of its fans since they refuse to recognize its flaws. Wildbow isn't as great of an author as he and his fans think he is.

And I think his whole rolling to see if Taylor died in the Leviathan fight is such bullshit. Queen Administrator was too integral in killing Scion to be replaced by Aegis.

I will admit however that if he went with one of his original plans of making New Wave the protagonists assuming that wasn't bullshit as well I would have enjoyed it. New Wave is just more interesting than Taylor. Though he would have probably fallen into the same escalation trap canon Worm did.

>Queen Administrator was too integral in killing Scion to be replaced by Aegis.
I actually have something to say about this. You see, when you get down to the absolute brass tacks, there were exactly 2 people who were absolutely essential to killing Scion: Flechette and Oliver. Absolutely everyone else was just window dressing, you write the big lasery fight around them, then bring in the two ringers when it's time to end the story. The trick is that neither of these people were ever in danger of not having their powers present at the final battle.

Flechette used Sting to make Scion vulnerable. She was part of a multi-trigger, which was explained in word of god but never really shown in the main story. The important part you need to know is that the nature of her trigger event means that there is at least one other person in the world who has Sting. If her die roll had come up "ded," then Wildbow would have just introduced this new character, and this mystery cape would have been the one to shoot Scion.

Oliver had the "be human" power that Scion's wife was supposed to have, so seeing Oliver reminded him of her, and made him so sad he gave up on life. Oliver spent the entire story taking care of Noelle, meaning he never had any dice rolled for him and was never in any danger of dying, so he would always have been available for the final boss.

I don't know what the point of this is, except maybe to prove that Wildbow wasn't completely making things up as he went along, and always had a way to end the story.

Jump 128 Bleach (Note: I just used the one on the drive, seems different from last time so no yelling at me if it’s the wrong one)
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Background: Drop In (+100)
Starting location: Urahara’s Shop (Free)
Perks
*Fashion (0)
*Super (100, Discount)
*Transcendence (300, Discount)
*Number 1 (400)
*Weird Science (200)
*Completely Normal (100)

(Idea stolen from my previous chain because… yeah that’s how I would handle bleach… besides stealing Aizen’s couch)

I admit maybe I was tired. Maybe I was tired of playing along with the plot. When I got to this world I decided just to do my own thing. I knew how to build spiritually powered items and also how to make items that would affect spirits.

The town we were in seemed to have a problem with Hollows so I built what in effect were spiritual proton packs and even some ghost traps and with my companions I opened a ghost busting business.
We never did great but I was rich enough it didn’t matter. Often we worked for free when there was a Hollow rampaging. Or we worked for nut jobs who thought there place was haunted. A few times we actually did encounter a ghost and I sent them to my version of heaven from Actraiser since the Bleach Afterlife sucks. I gave them a choice told them what they had in store and they usually decided to head for my place. Those that wanted to go to the afterlife I escorted there with my psychopomp powers

(to be continued)

Honestly, the best fanfic idea I saw for Worm was an AU where Alexandria simply can't be suffocated (because why the fuck can the "I'm literally fucking invincible" character be weak to suffocation but nobody tried it before) and then tries to murder the fuck out of Taylor.
>>
>>53545619
We encountered the “main characters” a few times. At first they treated us as a nuisance until we showed we were quite capable. So we actually wound up teaming up a bit. We were actually there for Aizen’s final fight with Ichigo. He thought anything that touched him would be destroyed. I stabbed him with Caliburn the sword of kings. So turns out Indestructible is Indestructible and he wound up impaled and coughing up blood. Then Ichigo stepped in to save me before he could retaliate.

Though he did start to rant asking “You, Who are you? What are you?!?” To which I replied proudly “I’m a Ghost Buster.”. I think he actually lost partially from the injury and partially because he was distracted trying to decide what in the hell was going on.

You could also try something like Queen Bee + Animal Mimicry: Spider? I dunno about shooting them, but you would probably be able to just make generic super spiders from your body with that combo.

Sitcom's capstone isn't QUITE a harem perk but it's great for doing the Mambo #5 since it minimizes the emotional impact of sleeping around.

Otherwise I think Heaven's Lost Property and Persona(not sure about 5, I helped with the intro but I didn't finish the game at the time so I didn't read the entire jump) have some too

>>
>>53545683
What? What is this? What's questionable questing? Why?
>>
>>53545623
Iirc Alexandria's intent was to basically heckle Taylor until she killed that Trigg guy and she could recruit her, or something like that, it's been some time since I've read Worm. Anyway, the whole thing failed because she didn't know that Taylor could offload her mental proceses to her swarm so she didn't really have any tells that she was getting pushed too far, and her perfect plan went to shit (Wildbow said it would have worked perfectly had she known that, and it's a WoG that is pretty believable). If she couldn't get suffocated she'd just arrest Taylor and go along with her original plan, although probably miffed that not knowing that one detail fucked her plan up. She's not the type of person who'd kill Taylor just because she attempted to murder her.
>>
>>53545683
Thank you, anon

Are you deliberately acting retarded anon? Just follow the conversation.
>>
>>53545485
I'd debate that it was just Oliver. Taylor threw every way of depressing a person she could think of at Scion. It's just that Oliver had the "look like the target's standard of beauty" power that Eden would have used, so it hit extra hard. The others helped.

I'd also say that it wasn't just Flechette that was needed. She opened the door, but it was the multi-Tinker superlaser that killed him. Without that in position, I'm not sure they'd have been able to pour enough damage into Scion fast enough to kill him before he recovered.

Mmm, yeah, it and the other movies that company has been responsible for animating always come out looking nice.

I get that feeling a lot too so I wish you luck on thinking up stuff. People went hard on combos after release though (and people still keep asking me about them in the IRC from time to time) so don't feel too pressured if it gets in the way of having fun with something you think you'd enjoy, lots of good combos have already been thrown out. There's also the fact that two people may have differing interpretations on how two Quirks may combine for Quirk Marriage. There's no real right way as long as you're being reasonable, might even do you some good to take a look at Meatball+Fiber Manipulation and think of how you would do it.

Head of House is Flitwick who is basically McGonagall but less stern and generally more of a babe.

They were anti-Voldemort largely much as Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are but fewer of them stayed at the end to fight than either Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. That's probably mostly because Gryffindors are picked in part for bravery and Hufflepuff for loyalty.

Common room is supposed to be airy.

I was going to follow the plot with various changes to tailor it to my whims, but I got annoyed trying to deal with it and replaced all of the threats(like Andross Guile) with loyal clones. Via shenanigans I have created blank clones to hold all the colors and light splitter for handing out to my people with the fancy knife. Honestly, while I am spending pretty much all my time here learning about drafting the real thing to take from here is fancy rainbow eyes. Hinata has Rainbow Byakugan, Rainbow Byakugan! How cool is that. We can make Rainbow Sharingan, Rainbow Rinnegan, all sorts of rainbow eye shenanigans and it is fantastic. Still managed to get the prophecy nonsense more or less sorted out with Kip having to deal with things(gave him a healing factor and a few other things to improve his chances though).
