Will Poxwalkers be worth using?

4" for a melee unit seems terrible. Sure they're kinda tough and can get extra units. Seems that'll hardly ever happen though, maybe they're just good for holding and contesting objectives?

Totally not forced guys!

What your 20 year old kits keep selling out even though they are old? Clearly it means marines are more popular.

Question: Building an army... this key word shit.

So I can make an army of "Faction" keyword?

EG: Imperium faction key word.

I could have an HQ that is a Terminator Captain of Ultramarines

Troops that are 1 squad of Imperial Guard Veterans, 1 squad of marines, 1 squad of sisters of battle

Heavy that are Grey Knight Land Raiders

and Elites that are Admech something or other...

All because they share the faction key word "Imperium"?
>>
>>53460673
Not plague marines specifically, but you can choose mark of nurgle for any marines in your kill-team, that pretty much makes them a plague marine, due to how much more durable they become.
>>
>>53460704
I like it. I have a squad of plasma chosen, and I'm glad that it's now optional and I can play it safe, though it's also disappointing that my Combi-plasma terminators won't be ultra immune to the results.
>>
>>53460677
Did you miss the entire conversation where I point out how stupid you were?

I listed 6 different 40k games that didn't focus on marines.

I then pointed out that Marines out sold every single other product GW ever made when they were released. They did so well they wrote it into 40k lore

>>53460736
Yes. It will be balanced out in bonuses you get. a Chapter bonus will be better than an Astartes bonus which is better than an Imperium bonys.
>>
>>53460704
The concept is fine but the regular variant is too good. Should've been like what SWA has them, around Tau Pulse level for non-overcharge, and s7 ap-3 for charged version.
>>
>>53460753
Ignoring outselling non marine products.

Marines are the CoD of miniatures, safe bet, nothing creative.
>>
>>53460759
The overcharged is great at eating primaris marines.

Normal: 3+ wound, 1 damage.
Overcharged: 2+ wound, 2 damage (kills em)

Everyone has seen the Mortarion model tease on youtube, right?
>>
>>53460556
Am I the only one who's worried about the power-creep the Primaris are going to cause? We can't seriously believe that the Tau and Eldar writers won't retaliate with new, better Suits and some Eldar 'Ynnead super-warriors' to match them and we'll be back to square one except all the original elite units get pushed to 2nd-tier.
>>
>>53461573
Primaris don't even seem that great.
>>
>>53461511
Don't be so hard on space marines.
>>53461573
They cost like twice as much as a normie marine.
>>
>>53461573
Are the Primaris marines even that strong?
>>
>>53461573
They're in universe power creep but all their actual rules have been pretty fucking mediocre so far.
Eldar and Tau will probably still mulch them which if anything is going to seem even better when you're doing it with your old and unmodified guys.
>>
>>53461573
You think they'll be allowed to get new super warriors.

Primaris are a result of models over fluff/need. They had some cool new space marines but they didn't wanna overwrite the old ones so they just made em 'buff marines'.

Honestly they should have just made them normal marines and allowed you to use old ones as they slowly phase out.
>>
>>53461603
>Honestly they should have just made them normal marines and allowed you to use old ones as they slowly phase out.

They should have made the Primaris and all they're new unit just be Cawl making new toys (no gene fuckery needed) and Guilliman slowly returning Space Marines to Legion style organisation.

>>
>>53461755
Yeah I got the start collecting box to get back into hobby with new stuff to add to my old. All the regular marines are on 32mm now. Which irritates me, a lot.

That means half my old army is on the wrong base
>>
>>53460945
You do know they have a named character who is just a re-released old generic Sorcerer model but still who is actively seeking to release Slaanesh from its prison, and that the other Chaos Gods are watching to see what happens to it?

Slaanesh will probably bust free and start wrecking shit in AoS as soon as the new model line for Slaanesh is done, and we'll get a simultaneous release in 40K of new Daemons, Noise Marines, and other stuff.

If it's the usual garden variety kind of bad then I can usually ignore it, though I would probably still rather look at an army that was just sprayed white.
If it's horrifyingly offensively bad hen that's of course a very different situation. If it's a badly painted Forge World army then that's just the worst though.

Alright so for a while now I've been planning on building an army of heretek Admech/Skitarii who stumbled across the "Omnissiah is actually a space dragon" thing and ended up becoming a Tech Cult who worship the Omnissiah's chosen children (who they believe are Necrons, thanks to an encounter between the Overlord of the Tomb World they end up waking up and their Magos, which may have evolved some Mindshackle Scarabs.)

Problem is, with how allies is looking like it's going to work in 8th, I don't think I'll be able to do this anymore.

So tell me /tg/:

If someone came down to your FLGS with an army of Necrons backed up by Skitarii/Admech units converted to be more Necron-y, and wanted to play that shit as a regular battle forged army, would you play them?

Similar question: would you play someone who wanted to do the same thing with Tau and Gue'vesa allies?

Your army will be perfectly legal for Open Play (because everything is).

It will probably be legal for Narrative Play if you can find the right scenario or make one.

Only Matched Play might created a problem for you, and even then, if you aren't taking into tourneys, all you're really doing is playing Open Play and borrowing some of the Matched mechanics. Only an extreme autist would deny you, especially if your forces were painted and converted.

>>
>>53464114

It's a 40k version of this thing.

One edge is 3 inches long. Another is 2 inches. Another is 1 inch. And the smaller edge, created by the cutout, is 1/2 inch.

The idea, as in Age of Sigmar, is that it's used to measure common close-range distances that might be awkward with the tape measure, or just save the time of opening the tape measure. You can immediately check if you're within 3" of an objective (or unit for heroic intervention or pile-in), 2" of another model for unit coherency, 1" of a model for close combat, or 1/2" for whatever that's relevant for, just by comparing to the relevant edge of this hunk of plastic.

It's not very important.

>>
>>53464296

Depends on how assaulty your army is.

If you never need to worry about whether you're within 3" of something, laugh at the cucks who buy it. I'm running Necrons, so I plan to just stick to my old Munitorum skull tape measure, since I'm just gonna shoot all day err day.

If you actually need to worry about short distances a lot because your army depends on assault, it's still overpriced but you'll buy it anyway eventually because it's a lot quicker easier than extending and angling a tape measure every time. It's not saving 20 seconds per game, it's saving more like 10-20 seconds per measurement.
>>
>>53464296
I like the AoS one more because it's at least a solid piece of metal, but as you say you really are paying over the odds when you can have a measuring tape locked at 6" and measure most of everything with ease.
>>
>>53464137
They play as a very shooty moving gunline with some decent counter-assault options and a comparative lack of heroes, although both the Tech-Priest Dominus and Belisarius Cawl are fucking amazing at what they do, which is pretty much anything you want them to. They have some cool army-wide mechanics that let you specialize turn-by-turn into choppy or shooty, but at the expense of the other if you go too far. Kataphrons are devastating but slow and a little squishy shooty weapons platforms, Kastelans will take hits all day every day (I once had two of them tank literally everything a 2kpt Guard army had, including a Baneblade and Knight Crusader, and only lost the two boops) but sadly Electro-Priests are terrible.

The basic Skitarii infantry range from best in the game bar NONE to good, Peltasts chew everything to hell and Vanguard shoot better than Grey Knights, the Dunecrawler tanks are mini-Vindicators and Dragoons and Infiltrators are blisteringly fast anti-tank and anti-horde melee. All of those shoot better than Primarchs, BS7 Neutron bombardments are pure sex.

So far we lack a flyer or a transport, though, which stings a little, but we may get something in the future at least, and we seem to suit this new edition down to the ground anyway.

In the case of grey knights, like how? Strike squads are shittier purifiers or slower interceptors no matter what. they all share the same weaponry, so that can't really change that much.

The only thing they could do to change them would be to give them a drastic points cut.

Mostly place holders and I expect ablative wounds in melee. They'll survive most things fairly well so you can also keep them as an active threat on the enemy's flanks.

They won't win you any battles, but they'll reduce your opponents ability to maneuver and likely soak up some shots that your real units would have to eat otherwise.

MFW I deepstrike my Venerable Contemptor, fire off my assault cannon and then fist a Primaris command squad to death turn one.
>>
>>53464936
You need to be within 1" to enter combat.

So does that mean you need a 8 or 9" charge?
>>
>>53464851

Probably. It'll be interesting to see how different chapters react. They've said some are entirely new and made from Primaris, others incorporate them to varying degrees, and some treat them with suspicion, foregoing including any or only allowing them sparsely.

But as for the 1st Founding loyalists and notable second-founding chapters, they're probably going to be hugely inclusive though not entirely all Primaris.

The entire point of them is to basically take a blob of 20 or two blobs and just move them across the table. If they get into combat they can wear you down, if you shoot at them awesome, you aren't shooting my other dudes.
>>
>>53464984
>Not this again

You have to be more than 9 inch away when you deep strike. So for example 9.1 inch.

If you roll 8 inch for the charge, you move 8 inch closer, so 9.1 inch minus 8 is 1.1 inch. More than an inch away, so no close combat, meaning a failed charge.
>>
>>53464990
Then he should have said something. It's like if your dad doesn't want you to be a painter so one day out of the blue he just takes your favourite piece of art and burns it. Like, maybe have a talk first.
>>
>>53464984
9". Being exactly 1" away (because you can only appear exactly 9" away from them, no closer) is not within 1".
>>
>>53464984

You have to deploy MORE than 9" away so even at 9.1" you need to roll a 9 to charge.
>>
>>53464984
Deep Strike is OVER 9" away so you need to roll a 9

Without that extra 1" range for charges now it would have been a 10

>Then he should have said something.
>It's like if your dad doesn't want you to be a painter so one day out of the blue he just takes your favourite piece of art and burns it.

No, it's more like you dad hating faggots, and doesn't want his son to be a faggot, and never shuts up about how much he hates faggots, in fact he hates faggots so much he establishes a political party all about hating faggots, which goes out most nights to set fire to faggot clubs and beat up faggots.

Then you show up with Jamal and tell your dad you're in love and there's nothing you enjoy more in life than having your backdoor battered by the bbc.

Then, when you wake up a few days later in hospital, you blame your dad for not being clear enough about where he sat on the whole 'faggot' issue, then throw a tantrum and destroy human civilisation, dooming your species to extinction and perpetual torment by diabolical gods.

That's what it's like.
>>
>>53464835
Imagine if all your life, you've raised Catholic. And than later, you grow up to be literally Jesus, and go as far as to conquer your civil war torn homeworld, and spread, love, peace and religion in gods name.

Than, one day, God comes down, and says "Good work son, im here to take you beyond the stars to spread my word." Than, you ask god about prophecy and religious shit, and all he does is sort of scratch the back of his neck and cough, but thats okay, your going around rebuilding the universe and spreading the word, and making things generally better. You even write a book about why god is so cool, and so great, and you teach your sons all about it, while you help build up worlds to better serve god.

Than, 25 years later, God comes down to you on a planet you rebuilt out of the blue, and tells you he's not god, that every thing you believe in is dumb, and gods aren't real, religion is dumb, and than has your brother blow up the entire dam planet you worked hard on building right in you and your face.

Than your actual dad comes by, and tells you about these OTHER gods, who are totes gods, and want to help you out. So you go out to these gods, and they basically whip you into shape, making you even better, and telling you the fundamentals of the universe.

And despite your best attempts to have everyone of your brothers come together to throw off your not-god dad, half of then tell you to fuck off, 1/2 go crazy, and the other 1/2 turn baby raping evil. So now, all you do is just sit in your tower, contemplating the meaning of life and occasionally teaching yours sons the true meaning of chaos once in a while.
>>
>>53465124
Surely The Emperor let all of the Primarchs know about The Imperial Truth, they were meant to preach it after all. He wasn't indoctrinated, you're right, i misused the term, but he had to have been aware of his Father's stance on such things.

>>

I like that he's the guy who dreamed of an empire in space, worshipping his dad Space God because he was Space Jesus. He was the guy who when his dreams were crushed, his original adoptive father and the high priest decided to let him in on their little secret, that they kept the Old Ways alive, and that if Space God wouldn't accept him, the Old Gods would. So he became the Lord of Chaos Undivided, the legion of Daemons and Order through Chaos. They were dedicated to Chaos in all its forms, never worshipping but one of the gods. They were Chaos Undivided, the legion of Chaos itself. They're not the Black Legion, worshipping whomever they please when it suits them. They're the Word Bearers, the first to fall and the only legion to be truly Undivided in their worship of Chaos. They're organized unlike most of the other legions, and without them, we wouldn't really have the 40k setting as it is now.

I probably rambled but what I mean is that I like Lorgar because he's the one who kicked off the whole setting and was lured to Chaos by those he loved (Kor Phaeron, his adoptive father who raised him) and trusted (Erebus and Kor Phaeron).

It says that all units within 6" of the psyker take D3 mortal wounds. I read that to mean every model. However it could mean units, so if your psyker is around 10 guys, they suffer D3 and if there is 1 guy of a 20 man unit just in range, then those 20 suffer D3 wounds too.

Another thing, do the mortal wounds (that overkill) from perils transfer over before you do the 6" explosion? Normally it wouldn't to an individual character but if you have a warlock in a guardian squad for example, do you get 3 mortal wounds, 1 on Warlock, 2 randomly allocated and then another D3 for the explosion?

>>
>>53465690
No, the UNIT suffers D3 mortal wounds, meaning the unit as a whole.

Otherwise it would have been "Each unit within 6'' suffers D3 mortal hits for each model in the unit" or something.

Mortal Wounds only spill over within the same unit. Characters can't join units anymore, so if a psyker blows himself up with Perils the excess wounds don't go anywhere.

But it works so well with his golden godarmor!

But what about my example of a warlock in a Gaurdian squad, or say a Thousand Sons Aspiring Sorcerer leading some Rubrics? He's in their unit.

If your Thousand Sons Aspiring Sorcerer suffers perils and takes 3 wounds from a D3, do the 2 extra ones carry over to some rubrics? That could potentially mean 5 mortal wounds from trying to cast crappy smite.

Holy shit, it's 8 pages long and written in such plain English that they don't even differentiate between die and dice to avoid confusion.

That pic is laughably out of date. The Big E appears as divine to pretty much everyone in Master of Mankind when regular humans, a spehs muhreen and the custards all march past the Golden Throne, except the Sisters of Silence, and even then, only because they're immune to his psyker-brainfuckery.

In Mechanicum, you see him literally pretending to be a god by deliberately making his first official contact with the Martians be fufilling their most ancient prophecies about the coming of the Omnissiah by commanding a damaged Knight to repair itself.

He's clearly happy to be seen as a god when it suits him, even if being worshipped wasn't his end goal.
>>
>>53465788
you what m8? they only take D3 mortal wound, and yes they spill over from the rubric sorcerer, but you don't take another D3 wound, your unit is not also a unit within 6'' of itself, it's just... itself, right?

It's every unit within 6" of the psyker, the psyker is a unit and is within 6" of himself, ergo the psyker takes 2d3 mortal wounds
Or you're wrong and the psyker (and subsequently his unit) only takes d3 mortal wounds
>>
>>53466150
But the 6" explosion only happens when he dies. So he wouldn't take a second D3 cuz he's already dead.
>>
>>53466098

The D3 mortal wounds don't spill over do they? Sorcerer fails perils and takes D3 wounds and in your case rolls a 3.

1 wound would be wasted because the sorcerer only has 2 wounds and not 3.

Then after he dies due to perils, each unit in 6" takes D3 wounds cause sorcerer exploded.

Those D3 wounds would be split amongs the Rubrics.

>>53466234
Makes sense as opposed to a Lascannon. If you were to face-tank a blast from a Turbolaser, the turbolaser isn't magically going to stop just because it erased your face from existence. It would just keep going until something like a titan hits it.
>>
>>53466167
if it follows the conventions established in the AOS rules and confirmed in subsequent FAQs then units with AOE abilities are themselves effected by the ability.

for example if an ability does D3 mortal wounds to every unit within D6 inches then the model the ability is centered on is also hit.

also if a unit causes all units within 12 inches to be +1 for all to hit rolls then the unit creating the AOE buff also receives the buff.

Obviously the second explosion will hit the psyker's unit, the point is though, the psyker wouldn't be alive to receive the second explosion as his death causes it.
