Rolled 7 (1d26)

RIP based Alan Bligh edition
Unification Wars subedition.

Cozy Fortifications were specified, Blackshields weren't just Thunder Warriors, we sent letters to the Emprah and Alpharius led the Siege of Terra. HH is apparently staying in 7th Edition and FW is releasing all the things people don't want. Ben Kingsley opted out of playing Amon and pretty Knights fought Xana. Some cool historical UM fluff was posted, the Albians have a range of accents and the new Dread has almost enough gun.

Well, now that we know we're going to be living in the hell that is 7th Edition a little bit longer: I had asked in the previous thread that I was looking to do some work on my BaC Termi Praetor. Is there a decent all around loadout I should aim for? I don't mind a bit of converting.

8th doesn't look great; you can't seriously call a game where you can place a trio of predators rear-armour facing adjacent to each other and it makes no difference

Staying in 7th would be fucking disastrous though. They'll have alot of time to make a 7.5ed with Alan Bligh no longer available to write Angelus though.

It's very clearly based off the eddie, you'd be an idiot to deny that. Sure, you don't have to like it and the stuff about people who don't like it are newfags is mostly just shitposting on my part, but it's definitely closer to the eddie than the contemptor is, with some stuff from the casterferrum thrown in.

Both this and the contemptor are the new eddie, but this one is definitely closer to the look. Not that that means contemptors aren't great, I love the little round fellas.

Airborne they have Vulturax, Arvus drops and Lightnings.

Lots of plasma, melta and lascannons. IW have Iron Havocs, expensive heavy support squads with limitations on equipment, tank hunter and BS 5. Load them up with lascannons and missile launcher (comes with all three missiles included) and go to town. IW rules benefit a shooty playstyle but you could use their ROW to advance also.

Why'd he need to die?
The important thing here is what variant he plays.
Against boops you want Lascannon, Sniper Vets, a decent chunk of plasma, Assault Cannon if you can get them, Dreads do OK, etcetera.

Against Reductor, we hate Dreadnoughts with a burning passion because a lot of T5, Podding Melta for artillery, maybe some graviton to pound Macrocarids and Secutarii/Adsecs with AP4 blasts.

Facing is much more a facet of tank-combat than it is infantry combat.

Simplification is necessary for the game, and it could do with either that or less models. As people will simply increase the points limits, simplification it is, but they've went too far by removing what was a good layer of depth.
>>
Did we get to see any new Dark Mechanicum models?
>>
>>53461278
I'll do it for an exercise more than anything, although it'll likely cripple my TS.
>>
>>53461412
It's possible with enough groundswell that a fan-made list becomes commonly accepted when GW/FW fail to deliver on that specific front. Just look at Heralds of Ruin Kill Team or the countless amount of fan support for all of the Specialist Games.

It probably wouldn't even be very hard to make, considering that most vehicles and weapon options will get rules in the Imperial Armour Index books. The only hard part is converting Legion-specific rules and characters.
>>
>>53461386
They clearly had a discussion about either
A) Finishing the legions and then converting the whole system
or
B) Postponing Angelus and spending the next year doing nothing but converting the whole system.

Bear in mind converting means the model releases probably would have stopped for brand new stuff other than legion cosmetics.

So what they're doing is continuing to support the current business while (very likely) several of the team work in the background converting the system with a planned release date of greater than one year but less than oh, three or something.
Remember to follow the ££££$$$$

There was probably a bit of paralysis as well considering the head of the design team and chief writer developed cancer.
>>

Don't 8E psyker rule boost the hell out of TS? Considering their basic power and so on. I wasn't ever a fan of using psykers mind you (had a hard time wrapping my mind around the rules, not sure why they specifically bothered me but maybe my name is secretly Ra Endymion).
>>
>>53461776
I'm mostly interested in what changes they'll make to 7th in the new red book. Fucking with psyker disciplines would go a long way toward balancing TS.
>>
>>53461912
In what possible universe? Psykers have now a ~5% to take d3 wounds on cast, which means for psyker units that one of their guys invariably straight-up explodes and then causes another shitload of wounds to his unit and anybody close by. A independent psyker that took a sniper round to the face will probably be wary of casting anything ever, since chances are he'll take wounds on miscast, nor will he hang out near other psykers for fear of a chain reaction. The fact that most disciplines are probably gone and replaced with individual powers and/or Smite will not help matters.

What if people are looking at it the wrong way?

It's known, for instance, that the Tau got a jump on their technology by studying the contents of an ancient Imperial ship. It's also known that a bunch of Imperial vessels crashed and burned during the mysterious plague that created the Prohibited Zone near Ultramar, which killed anything human with the power of PLOT. What if the crashed ship was a Custodian ship, and all the tech the Tau have are in fact imitations and extrapolations of Custodian gear, explaining the visual resemblance and equivalent power level?

According to people who attended the seminar, FW declined the move to 8th because it lacked the depth to do what they wanted with the black books. An altered version of 7th will be the engine pushing them forward from here on out--remember that they want AT LEAST 15 books total.
>>
>>53463105

>>

>>
>>53463105

Considering the little blue niggers found it on their second planet, it's even easy to spread throughout their civilization, before their expansions.
>>
>>53463105
Why not? We had plenty of cases of bog-standard imperial shit sitting for ages in some hellhole and when people rediscovered it they just had to turn the ignition key. With high-tech gear in stasis-fields and such it'd be even more likely.
>>
>>53463127
They thought the same as I did, then.
The 8E core rules seem to have just wholesale removed anything minor that needed a roll or table- Consolidate is 3" flat, Reserves need no rolling, deepstrike doesn't scatter, blasts have no Templates, no more sweeping advance, no more falling back/morale tests in favour of Battleshock, no WC allocation for psyk, pick your powers/Wtraits, fixed To Hit in melee, no Initiative, they've just generally hacked bits out of the game and called it simpler. For the most part it makes no difference, but it's a lot less stuff to mess with with a more in-depth ruleset and keeping nineteen instances of the same army balanced yet distinct from one another.
>>

>Iron Hands
Ignore AP-1, half distance when Advancing.
>Word Bearers
Roll a d6 whenever a model from a unit flees, on a 5+ it stays its ground and remains; +1 to consolidation and advancing.
>Sons of Horus
Reroll to-wound rolls of 1s; when arriving from reserves you can set up at least 7" away from enemy models instead of 9".
There, this shit is easy.

Would be a tad hard to make the Primarchs differ much, although you could port most of their abilities over straight up.
I admit you could probably get most of them delineated nicely, I was just thinking you'd lack the nice complex web of interlocking systems you get with a few of the armies in this. I rescind my earlier objection, although I still think the order of things goes Heresy 7th > 8E > 40k 7E. We'll have to see more of the 40k books, get an idea of what you can do with the armies other than the three variants of Feel No Pain we've seen so far, all with different names.

Oh, yes, the 4chan bubble where it's massively important to behave like some sort of dystopian robot.

Can you imagine what would have happened today if Tony had, just after explaining that Alan had passed on, said "In other news, we are scrapping the Heresy and starting again with an 8th ed compatible system".

There might have been a riot. Partially, because even though you don't seem to understand the basis of human emotion, it would be in bad fucking taste. Partially because Damn those books are expensive.

But even if you want to analyze this on a purely mechanical level. What's gained by converting 30k to use the same system as 40k, exactly?

Now you have a meaningful choice between playing 30k and playing 40k. It means forgworld has it's own in house ruleset. Something it has badly needed, so it doesn't have to bodge it's game to cope with changes made by a separate team. It means I don't have to spend time and money rejiggering my heresy armies and the same time as rejiggering my 40k armies.

The only argument I can see is from the minority of people who want to play 30k against people who play 40k. In which case, it really looks like forge world are going to make rules for most of the 30k marine units for 40k armies anyway.

As for militia, they're survivalist alchem-jacking hive worlder types. Think Messian Chem-hunters or House Orlock and the Van Saars. I like to run them as SotDA or Cyber-augmetics and Alchem-jackers, with a roughly platoon-sized group of militia taking objectives and doing the trenchwork alongside combat servitors, some grenadiers parked in heavy ruins or in arvuses to get ODST'd into the thick of things, all with plenty of discipline masters to go around and a handful of Russes led by a chem-munition Malcador. They lack the sheer amount of bodies that a lot of Militia lists have but I find they get the job done.

Dammekos shittalked Pert and the Imperium while the Fourth were crusading. Seeing as they recruited (and lost) more Astartes than any one Legion, probably more than any two or three together, all from a single world, the remaining population suffered and so were susceptible. When Dammekos died the various once-independent city-states split into two blocks with a few neutral outliers. One block wanted to renegotiate terms with the Imperium, another wanted to secede. Perturabo went full autist however and slaughtered most of the population and enslaved many of those that surrendered. I'm not 100% if he set the new slaves free in the end or if his sob-isode at the end didn't actually have any consequences for the Olympians. A number of Iron Warriors died as they refused to turn on Olympia, And I shed a single tear as poor, valiant young Fortreidon took the first steps down a dark path.

Perturabo ends up realizing that he lost the moral grounds when he killed both the seccesionist and negotiator representatives. So used to be the Emperor's breaker, it didn't come to him that he could have solved the problem with diplomacy instead of going full autism.

"Salty" Jago Keck is the Warsmith of the 73 Grand Company. Originally of Terran Origin, he lost his leg and earned his moniker on the world of Xue Germ, a death world of salt and acid constantly set alight by it's proximity to it's star, kept from destruction by the immense gravitational forces holding it together.

For a long time after the Legion was reunited with the Primarch, he kept his peace as the men under his command became more and more merciless. Olympia and later Isstvan saw his fading loyalties die a horrific death as children and brother Astartes died in ignominy. As his ships broke away from Horus' scum, unleashing their fire on the vulnerable outer elements of the fleet he voxed across all frequencies:

"That's it. I've had it. I do not wish to be dramatic but it's time for me to fly away."
As his victims strove to fight back,
"Terrific. Fine, but here's where I draw the line. I have no wish to aid pitiless monsters such as yourselves any further. I was a fool to follow you thus far, and now I am "cutting you loose" as the saying goes. Goodbye, such is life, hope all goes ill, and now I am looking out for the interests of our species."

Yes, but what Perturabo ends up saying is "I probably could have solved everything with diplomacy instead of removing 85% of the population".
Like his sister tells him, he had extremely high expectations from everything and anyone. Even for mortals. Even for him. Especially him.
She tells him
>You could build a perfect world, only to find that its only flaw is the people that live in it.
And that's not too far from what he did to Olympia.

Everything except the volkite, chainsword+arm/pauldron and backpack is GW's Iron Warriors Warsmith model for Chaos Space Marines. They also have (used to have?) a Night Lords Hero with a combi-flamer and power fist and a EC Hero/CHaos Lord (?) with a sonic shrieker, organ back pack and (I think) a power sword + plasma pistol combo.
>>
>>53465223
The gun is a volkite charger from the GW Tartaros Terminator kit (or FW's bulk kit). iirc, the marine is an older GW IW Warsmith mini (head, torso, arms and legs). CSM backpack, shoulder looks like it came from a GW SM Command Squad kit.

Legions are fine, Primarchs are fine, and Mech losing is also cool, since we always have more Forge Worlds, but I'd appreciate if we won just occasionally. Xana was cool, more of that.

I don't give a fuck about whether the armies are Legions, Militia, Mechanicum, Navy or space centaurs from beyond the galactic rim, I just like grand strategic overviews and cool tricks and descriptions, rather than the whole thing being centered solely around 18 dudes who lol though anything that isn't another one with ease and get great introspection into their schizophrenic characters and inconsistent background while engaging in duels that will always lead to fuck all because we know almost exactly what happens to them.

Actually sir, as a native Floridian I can attest that I have, indeed, been shot in my sleep no less than twelve times, each time more pleasant than the last.

On the third occasion of my unanticipated kill shotee-ness, I had the mind that such occasions would happen more frequently, and so I chored myself with becoming a happy face about the hospital closest to my estate. The doctors and nurses would lift a happy jig at my admittance. I was especially appreciative of the tender attentions of the exceptionally 'professional' nursing staff.

After my sixth occasion I had habits of it. Intentionally arousing her ire would earn me more visits to the hospital, where my then-employer would pay me to lounge about the place, wooing the exceptionally beautiful nursing staff and caroling with the doctors of all professional mindfulness.

Unfortunately, my joy was, like the horrible Ottoman 'empire' that I took to harassing during my early days in the Floridian army entourage of President Andrew Jackson, very short-lived. My wife had discovered my ploy by examining her handiwork and discovering her previous 11 projectiles had only formed a hard plate upon my noggin to prevent further injury. She then dealt a blow far more grievous than even Jefferson's navy did upon Dey of Algiers' (Damn him) forces (Damn them); A certificate of divorce.

I was thrown into such a depressive state that I was incapable of developing my joys further at the hospital, the melancholy of which was only broken when weeks later, I re-discovered life as a single man. By the truth of every word I speak, Florida is a wonderful land despite its decidedly Spanish origins, though only peasants of foreigners despise it for their own perceptions of popular television! Uproariously inaccurate, and an endless source of mirth for us living in God's own paradise.

Chill, Sangyfags. Your Primarch is coming next with enough rules to solo Aporcupine Knight on the tabletop.

Horus was overall the best, but he was frightened of Sanguinius' fighting prowess.

I don't think Perils needs to be more punishing, I just think that the psychic tables need to be rebalanced back to the way they were in 6th along with powers getting selected instead of randomly rolled for.

Remember when Tyranids basically ate all the UM First company stationed on Macragge, the Imperial Navy was the one who actually saved the day and they had to turn one of their capital ships into a void grenade in order to trim the hive fleet to manageable numbers, and the aftermath of that war was the exterminatus-tier loss of some worlds and the creation of the Tyrannic war veterans?
Meanwhile, the BAs deal with stuff in sentences
>Yeah, 950 BAs died in a Space hulk
>Yeah, the warp did a switcharoo with the whole Hive fleet for Guilliman's fleet.
>Yeah, Ka'Bandha killed the tyranids on the moon.
>Yeah, Guilliman killed the tyranids on planet Baal.
>Yeah, Baal's moons don't even have proper names. Isn't Luna called Terra Secundus?
Show, don't tell. But whoever wrote this was "don't even tell, it's just a text box on the side of a cool pic or something".
>>

This is a classic GW/FW picture where their teaser photo is almost literally the worst possible angle to use.
>>

>Talk to me when Horus kills a phantom titan.
I wish.
I also wish any scene where Horus actually fights something non-human worthy of a Primarch to fight against. Hell, in the Nephimilm extermination he isn't even described punching those pansy blubber aliens. Rather, he seems more adept at infiltrating in full Cataphracti plate.

The latter get turned into novels because that is what works if you want to make more than a couple books and possibly want to explore certain things.

I like the wider approach FW takes and there are also a few older BL books that do the same, but GW decided to view the HH on a more personal level for a reason.

How're the BA fags taking it that their multi-strand couple year build up epic unite-the-angels-of-blood plot thread in a do or die fight against Leviathan...ended in a page of the Ultra-Ultramarines turning up and all the Tyranids dying off-screen?
>ALL the BA chapters other than the Lamenters take massive almost total casualities including Chapter Masters
Well at least the space vampires can run mostly-Primaris armies from now on without feeling like shits
>>
>>53467079
Ahriman's rules are fine, his model is trash because it's only one step removed from a snapfit.
I think I'll get the Amon mini and see if it can be converted into a better Ahzek.
>>
>>53467079
But that's what Ahriman did pre-heresy. He was an adviser and field coordinator, not a lone, blaster caster.
>>
>>53467079
Ahriman wasn't anything crazy during the Great Crusade/early Heresy. Dude only became a super-powerful space wizard after shit went down.
>>
>>53467837
An event called "the Siege of Baal" is scheduled to happen. Not a BAfag, but sieges are always fun:^). For the dissapointing 40k event you're referring to, however, I like what the anon on the other thread wrote
>>53454937
>It should've been the Blood Angels who took us out. Not TWO miraculous interventions at the same time. Especially because it's from the point of view of the Tyranids, the NPC faction.
>A defiant resistance full of desperate last stands and overwhelming odds. The valor of mankind to defy an implacable, utterly alien foe, only winning because of the actions of their courageous heroes.
>THAT is why we are the NPC race. To give others such moments. But they didn't even let the Blood Angels have that. They got fucked, and Guilliman and a fucking Khornate daemon saved their asses.
>It's insulting to both sides. It denies them a hard-fought victory and it denies us our purpose.
>>
>>53467837
>The Blood Angels LEGION (all the successor chapters) failed to defeat a Hive Fleet tendril when the Ultramarines (one chapter) destroyed Behemoth by themselves.

Embarrassing.
>>
>>53468035
Technically, the BA legion fought more tyranids than the UMs, as they fought the Hive fleet all across the system, but when Guilliman arrived the Hive Fleet had been snuffed away by the warpstorm and he only fought those on the surface of Baal, while Ka'Bandha killed his hated enemy on the moon, placing the heads on pilars instead of claiming them, because tyranids are the one creature in the setting that khornates don't have any interest in, lacking actual skulls and having exoskeletons instead.
But yeah, it makes sense for a Bloodthirster to kill them.
>>
>>53468035
Obviously Behemoth was a pretty shitty hive fleet. Only took one chapter to ruin it. Hell, one ship exploding took out almost the entire hive fleet's space ships.

The Ultras got their rear ends handed to them by Behemoth and would have been wiped out had the Navy not come to the rescue. And no amount of tsundere Calgar insisting that it wasn't like he needed Bakka's help will change that.
