You have a squire carry it, and then pull the sword out and let them carry the scabbard.

Normal swords are too long to be carried on the back, actually - try drawing a sword from there sometime. What happens is unless the scabbard is only attached at one point (in which case it'll be constantly smacking against your ass) you can't get your hand high enough to pull it out.

Greatswords weren't stored in a sheathe or anything like that. They were carried on the shoulder, with the pommel in the crook of your arm to leave your hand free. Sam as any weapon that was too long to be easily placed on the hip.

For convenience, given pathfinder always assumes Sheathes are a thing? Your best bet is to put in on the hip.

As for bows?
They basically always go on the back, in nearly every country of origin I can remember, and often have a case for carrying them to keep the weather off the string and wood, since that shit can easily get damaged. I don't know the proper name for such a carrying case, and I believe they were more prevalent the further east you get.

No, at least not in the Inner Sea.
Tengu in the Inner Sea are found primarily in the Shackles, where other sailors and pirates consider them to be good luck to have around and to be on the ship. Tengu are considered Jinx Eaters, and sit in the crew to absorb bad luck.

Though, a particular Tengu who makes an ass of himself, or brings bad luck, would be shown no mercy and be keelhauled, or possibly plucked and quartered

Reach is incredibly useful if you like AoOs, if you like hitting things without being engaged by their own weapon, if you like hitting things bigger than you that would get to take your head off in response to your approach, and so on.

Also try to carry - even if limited - a ranged weapon. The best - due to accuracy - by mid-high levels is a firearm such as a double-pistol, but a bow will do as well. Alternatively some frag grenades if you've got access...

There are few things worse than standing there like a goddamn idiot while some enemy attacks you from where you cannot even reach. Backup ranged weapon: ALWAYS.

Absolutely. There are three key things here:
- the Darkness spell is irrelevant against anything with darkvision
- natural attacks like claws don't give a penalty to your other attacks (though you can't use a claw attack and use that hand with a weapon at the same time)
- high Strength or sneak attack-like effects contribute damage in a multiplicative factor to every separate attack you make

I went and redid this because someone brought up a throwing weapons houserule that actually made fucking sense, so I had to use it.

Then after some thinking I upgraded Superior Unarmed Strike to be full Monk progression, because why fucking not? 1d4 until level 4 sucks, and at any level you've still paid a feat to be able to do less than a level-appropriate weapon. "I have a weapon" isn't the Monk's main feature anymore after PF Unchained (thank fucking god), so it's not stealing anyone's thunder.

I also added a secondary feature to my already-homebrew TWF feat that I thought would be something interesting to do now and then, which also happens to throw a bone to the *most* unsupported common fantasy fighting style: sword in one hand and crossbow in the other.

Other than that there's just some rewording and a couple extra links to the main Feat Tree page and readied action mechanics, because my players are still new and I don't think they know where to go for these. They still need that feat guide column too, even though you guys don't.

Oh, and I also changed the "feat tax" solution at the top. It now includes Dodge and Point-Blank Shot, but the way it works is slightly different too. Instead of removing these feats as prerequisites and then having feats that *did* require them grant them as bonus addons, I thought it would be a lot less roundabout to say that taking one of the tax feats awards you a feat that requires it for free.

It's just about the same, but there are two use cases where things have changed: you now have to meet the tax feat's prerequisites to get the feat you want, and feats that require multiple of these taxes don't become weird piñata feats where you take it and get many feats for free at the same. Now it's one-for-one.

We just got the the part of the first book where the Ice Mephit came up, and I'm not gonna lie when I saw her pic in the book I immediately thought she was a qt3.14.

I would appreciate some guidance with a build that I want to make.

I want to make a vital strike + massive weapon (largest possible) character.

My initial interest was in a Titan Mauler barbarian, but as I have done some digging, people keep saying that it over-promises and under-delivers.

Also, that there is a feat that delivers what Titan Mauler should have been (though I do not recall what it was).

How can I make this build successful? It doesn't need to be min-maxed or optimized, just useful in combat, and hopefully some utility out of combat (skill checks for moving story elements along).

How would you design a character with only one arm? There's two ways of doing this

Pure dexfaggotry, which isn't hampered means you aren't totally 'armless. Go with the standard dexfag weaponry (Katana/Falcata/Rapier/Scimitar)

Ask your DM if they'll let you count as having one hand permanently kept free - a lot of the one-handed style weapon options actually require an empty hand, which is frustrating for one-armed characters because that should have been the one avenue left to them.

If you can get that, Weapon Trick is the most bang for your buck in a one-handed style. At which point you could go into Crane Style and maybe have a not totally frustrating time. One-handed melee classes could be a Daring Champion Cavalier or possibly a Magus if you get that prior concession out of your DM.

Brawler starts freaking out (follower of Sarenrae, trying to repent for his time a an enforcer in a gang). Eventually, we're getting nowhere, so I offhandedly threaten to shoot the one kid we've got as a prisoner if he doesn't talk.
Brawler snaps out of his mini freak-out to slam my character into a wall and threaten him, my guy is just grinning like the jackass that he is because he did it to get the brawler focused because it's not our fault we murdered a half dozen teenagers who were stupid enough to sign up with a cult.

Lack of detail is because I have shit memory and it's been like 6 months since the campaign ended.
