Dark Angels. You can yourself the Dark Vengeance box and an armoured assault box and maybe another rhino or a dreadnought and you've got the basis for a decent 1K army. It won't win any tournaments, but it's a small enough project to get finished and playable with minor conversion needed (which can be difficult early on).

For the most part nobody anywhere cares about base sizes. Unless you're entering tournaments that specifically say so nobody is going to disallow the FW GUO on the basis of base size. The GW GUO comes on a 60mm base so if you really bought into that line of thinking there should be one of those somewhere underneath him.

As far as I understand it, the primary reason that the Imps let them get away with a lot is that they believe (or claim to believe) that the Omnissiah is a singular facet of the Emperor's divinity, like how the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are all part of the same God.

Granted, 40k is sort of "anything goes" in the sense that it's possible unless something explicitly says it's not. It would be more plausible though if you made all your techpriests part of an Inquisitorial retinue with an Ordo Xenos agent as their leader, therefore making your tech-heresies supervised and thus safeguarded.

Also, a Bride with a Mirrorhelm and Shardnet is a fairly decent melee tank. You force them to use a knife and can parry an attack. On top of that, you have 3 S4 attacks, and remember that S4 is -1 armor save for a total of -3.

So I just noticed that the War Coven and Sekhmet Conclave need to be at maximum size to get of one their bonuses. I don't think that's even possible to do that in a normal game. Is there a reason for that? I mean, they might as well not even have the Favored of Tzeentch.

You'll probably want 4 melta command squad to save 35 points, and to provide more melta. Assuming you keep your centurions invisible/alive, you will have enough grav for anything you play against. Adding another 15 grav shots with no amp at 18" (albeit 12" move) and more frail and requiring additional protection isn't really worth it. If you really wanted more grav take 2 more Centurions.

I really don't care anything about this WAAC list except for it must consist of models I actually have/can convert easily/can counts-as easily.

I went to a game last week and played 2 riptides at 1000, and so I wanted a list that could shred that bullshit if I needed to.

If I replace the gravs with meltas on all the bikes then I save 25 points, but won't I not be making use of the relentless rule if I do that?

If it helps I could post the models I have, but I am pretty sure I have the most competitive ones in this list.

Coteaz doesn't have any tax he can be taken alone. Same with astropaths. Astropaths can also be taken as ml1 for 25 points which is a really easy access to prescience. Ml2 is nice for them for more powers if you roll on one table but they are only 1 wound so sometimes taking 4 ml1 is better than 2 ml2. Astropaths can only do telepathy and divination so they are good for cheap psychic shriek too.

Coteaz is really great though. Astropaths are better if you want a lot of prescience or just more charges.

Just got back from my first game in like 10 years. Brought my 1k points of skitarii and another guy's 1k points of eldar against 2k points of Tzeench.

We won, hurray. Although Magnus is a complete asshole. Spent half the game trying to ground him, wish I had brought an icarus array, but the neutron laser did some decent work too.

in the end it was a fun and close game.
I was able to kill his riptide with my psychic abilities in the first round after he deep-striked.
the game ended with only ahriman and his crisis commander left on the board and in close combat. after killing two of his crisis bodyguards Ahriman was slain by the commander.
It was only my second game with my thousand sons, so I think I can improve for next time.

it was very close. Ahriman was superb with his psychic scream times every psychic phase,killing his marker light guys and his 5 ghost suits, and just flying across the battlefield but my terminators were just wasted. deep striked them stupid so they got killed almost in the first turn they appeared. The Rubrics also did a good job because the exalted sorcerer joined them after disembarking and he casted the spell on them that they would ignore cover. His fire warriors did not like that.

Don't worry about forgetting stuff like that. It comes with time and gaming. I constantly forget shit myself but I chalk that up to playing 4 different armies..

I'd say a good list currently would use as many sorcerers as possible. A lot of people say "TS are garbage, use daemons" or "a good list is Magnus and a million Horrors and Heralds". I say fuck that. Get the Cabal with 1 or 2 Rubric squads (they don't generally need a rhino desu, I never field mine), 1 Scarab Occult squad and then as many Sorcerers as possible, preferably on discs.

Pic is my 2K list I bring. The maulers are hardy and FAST, serving as great distractions to your forces. The DP acts like a dangerous discoball circling the field blasting any priority targets (especially great if your enemies don't tend to pack skyfire or many flyers) while the DiscSorcs flit around, casting spells and turbo-boosting out of harm's way. Rubrics entrench on objectives and drill anything that comes close while Scarab Occult deepstrike with termie sorc and murder.

Last game I played was against BT with Castellans and I lost by a hair due to objectives at the end of Turn 7 with more than half my army still on the field. I destroyed 400-600 points of extra dudes as well, so I played at a handicap.

It's only my experience of course, but there you go.

Not nessesarely true. Your strength 10 ap1 is cheaper than ours and when taken in 3s can fire apocalyptic ignores cover basts. If taken in 3s in one of your armored formations you can ignore stunned and WILL fire the apocalyptic blast.

Your predator annihilator is cheaper than a vanquisher, has one more shot and is twin-linked in the main turret, and so better than the vanquisher in most cercumstances. They can even be made fast in a blood angels formation!

Your SPAA is better than ours, period.

So in many ways a tank marine army is better than tankguard. All you really lose is armor, and in an age of grav-haywire-lance-melta-D weapons, most of which ignore armor, it's better to just have more tanks than heavier armor. That, and your formations are better for shooting while ours just make an extra 18% more hits and a lower chance of explosion

Ah, yes you did then. Ahriman's ML4 with mark of Tzeentch, so his first power must be from Tzeentch (not so bad nowadays due to a better table) and the other 3 from whatever table he has access to.

I play against that BT friend very frequently, he runs mechanized, so I always reserve at least 1 roll per Sorcerer for Heretech. Ts' psychic might is extremely versatile and it scales exponentially per psyker present.

Whenever I think of how imperial plasma explodes, I can't help but think of pic related.

Wanna build a guard tank army. So I'm looking at a Cadian Battle Group with Pask in a Battle Group Command Emperor's Fist and possibly an Emperor's Wrath tacked on if I have the points, because I just like that formation.

Question is, what's the best load out for the Russes themselves? Here's the various loadouts that I'm considering:

Pasknisher with three heavy bolters and heavy stubber for max dakka. Fuck infantry.

Pasknisher with two multi-meltas and lascannon to capitalize on rending and go hand in hand with short Punisher range. Fuck suits, transports, AV below 14 and also a 14 I guess, heavy infantry, mountrous creatures, infantry slightly less but still a good bit.

Stock Battle Tank with stock battle cannon and heavy bolter. It's cheap and iconic. Pasknisher's squadron buddy will likely be this because it's the only one without BS4.

Exterminator with multi-meltas and lascannon. Fuck transports, fuck light to medium tanks, fuck monstrous creatures and medium heavy infantry. Exterminator also cheap option.

Vanquisher with multi-meltas and las cannon. Fuck everything with an AV and monstrous creatures on the side too I guess, maybe termies. Only considering this because the Vanquisher is in the cheaper end of main guns and everyone in EF gets BS4.

Eradicator with triple flamers, because hurr fire and fuck everyone's cover saves and anyone trying to bumrush. Alternately heavy bolters for slightly longer range anti infantry.

Demolisher with zero upgrades because I don't feel like paying 10+ points for weapons I have to snap fire.

I'm iffy about demolishers and battle cannons because experience tells me large templates often under perform because everyone's in a transport that won't be oneshotted, has better armour or gets a cover save. So for it to work, you need to reach critial mass of templates to ensure that you cover everything multiple times to get consecutive pens and glances on enemy vehicles or force tons of saves. Cont.

Expect your peltests to be targeted first and those vanguards ignored. If your ur fighting an IG like me, expect 8 autocannons that'll chop through your FnP like so much melted butter. Most of my AT is actually worthless here because of your troops focus, but I'm not above turning such fire on your fast walkers. Those gravitons would be my turn 2 target of choice to keep my tanks safe. From their it all depends on how many of my ifantry survives.

Tartaros for dedicated melee, cataphracti for anything else.
Stock terminators if you want Thunderhammer and shield

Tartaros is for Assault terminators, specifically those with lightning claws. Toss a grenade harness on them and the have them shred at initiative and sweep. Another option can be taking a full squad of 10, dividing it between 5 guys with claws and the grenade harness, and 5 guys with 2 heavy flamers and the volkite sergeant for horde melting. Also, sergeant should always take a chainfist.

Cataphrachii are better as bodyguards or more shooty terminators. Pretty good if you just want a small team to stick with a Captain or librarian and do decent work with claws and fists.

At this point, I would only use vanilla termies if you wanted a squad with thunder hammers and storm shields.

i like an exterminator with las/plascannon for transport/mc hunting.(MM have range issues especially early in the game when u want to open transports i.e. before the meltadudes close in, keep them at range)
battlecannon with no upgrade for backfield
dont like vanquisher outside of apo due to being expensive for that single Ap2 shot (+lascannon), and again MM have range problems.

Pasknisher can be your high command but do NOT make him your warlord unless you don't mind giving your enemy sleigh the warlord every game. If he is your not warlord then give the co-tank plasma and order splitfire on 3 dice whenever you need. You'll get it.

The regular TC,TC cotank, and one other tank can be vanquisher a for serious AT firepower, or you can go executioners for anti-light. The last two tanks should be Vinella, demolished, or Eradicator. Why? Because putting 5 tanks within 24" can lead to pain n without end against blast AT, imperial knights, or skyhammer. This way you can put two blast tanks in one corner, pask in the other, and a tank commander and one free tank in the center for total control.

Don't take the emp's wrath with this; take the emp's blade. You need the speed bumps against melee or objective cappers.

Tartaros for when you are expecting melee, cataphractii for when you aren't. Tartaros can be good with either Lightning Claws or Bolters. But for the most part you want to take advantage of their superior shooting by giving the sergeant a Plasma Blaster, FREE CHAINFIST, and Grenade Harness, then leaving the rest of them either barebones, or with a heavy flamer. The Reaper Autocannon isn't worth it as your entire army has better+cheaper ranged anti-tank, and it's anti infantry is overshadowed by the heavy flamer.

Same deal for the most part as regular termis. You shoot, you charge, you wreck anything that you can touch.

Cataphractiis are better suited for running deathstars. Just get them with a librarius conclave and roll up Veil of Time.

Might do with the fact that interspecies trade is pretty rare, so a megacoep wouldn't really have a good market. War is also expensive, and in 40k there's only war.

I do kind of want to see a Slaanesh CSM warband focused on greed now, using hypnotic marketing and other weird things.
