Not me, but I literally yesterday saw a game with 2 players playing 1v1 player a has mind's dilation on the field and nothing else.
Player B has an ugin ultimate ready to go and goes to his main phase and plays the card he drew: Nicol Bolas Planeswalker. Player A triggers mind's dilation and flips chaos warp and warps ugin and counters the Bolas with a shit counterspell.
I've never seen worse play in my life.

Ended the game with 4 cards in library, almost half my deck in exile, and 20 damage from my own commander. I tried at least 3 different win combos, and had one of them countered 3 times (had Swan Song and Pact of Negation on backup and it just wasn't enough).

Many Times with Nekusar somebody will go infinite right before i manage to kill them with wheels.
The worst fuckup I had was somebody was playing Memnarch and had Mycrosyn out and I forgot it turns all permanents into artifacts and I ended up playing a boardwipe for artifacts(cant remember which one) and accidentally blew up everything.

anyway Anybody have any tips or advice for my nekusar list I want to add more control but cant find much of anything to cut from my pillowfort and wheel stuff

With Oloro having a pillowfort subtheme is generally fine, but in my experience you really want to choose between control or lifegain, don't do both. If you choose lifegain you should put in all the cards that shoot through the roof in value by paying life (necropotence, ad nauseam and necrologia if you want to make a nasty lifegain combo deck, lifegain can actually be pretty strong in a combo shell).

If you choose control you should just go 100% on the pillowfort, adding glacial chasm, island sanctuary, solitary confinement, righteous aura, moat and forcefield if you have them, and of course the usual pillowfort package. Then go with a shitton of wipes and removal (ashes to ashes and slaughter are my favourite removal spells in Oloro) and use some kind of combo as your wincon, I've seen pretty strong Oloro decks that only have labman as a wincon.

If you choose lifegain, don't hesitate to actually cast Oloro (if you're in a meta that isn't too competitive), if you have enough gain sources the card draw does get absolutely ridiculous.
Oloro draws a lot of hate, but doesn't really draw a lot of removal. Most people think that he's kinda meh on the battlefield and just ignore him since you can never get rid of his ability, but the draw is deceptively strong.

Unless you're in black for coffers, or you REALLY like your nykthos, it's more about targets your opponents have than what you have in your deck. Cradle in non-green creature decks is very good still. Most lands you want are legendary so doubling your own is a no go.
>>
>>52248717
No. You can't have a triggered ability activate and resolve in the middle of an already-activated ability. They resolve in order.

It doesn't even come close to a Plague Wind, think of it more like an alternative Languish. You're going to get rid of weenies and chump blockers, but if there are any actual real threats on the board, that shit's going to stay.

Play Lazav, clone tribal. Use a lot of mill universal, and lull them into a false sense of security with how trashy your deck seems.
Then you play Gary, followed by Patriarch's Bidding for Shapeshifter.

Opponent chooses the card. It's better to pick two cards if you only hit craterhoof + one other. At least you're getting something.
>>52254435
It only exiles two cards. You can get maximum of 2 creatures and that is if your opponent doesn't want one for some reason.
>>
>>52254333
I have seen a player use it in 60 card constructed with flickerwisp/glimmerpoint stag and emrakul so that your opponent takes emrakul and you just blink it back to your side. after they figure out what's going on their best option is to just let you have emrakul and blink something of their own for value.

and it just so happens congregation at dawn curves into challenge to set it up. It's still probably garbage for commander when so many better options exist.

I'm not saying they aren't real. Just saying tiers in commander is downright retarded and goes against the point of the format. The level of nastiness in decks is so dependent on the individual meta that using tiers to separate decks is meaningless and stupid. Its a format where the banlist is small and the card pool enormous. You shouldn't have to worry about tiers in a format where creativity in deck building is key.

I also don't see how the autists on this board can't comprehend that the goal of a game is to win, but that winning in certain ways is unacceptable. I hate this general.
>>
>>52259111
If you accept the conceit that the goal is to win, then any means to win within the confines of the rules is fair game and it doesn't make sense to exclude. The more correct perspective would be that the goal is commander isn't to "win", it's to make the table have "the most fun", which doesn't exclude you from winning, but does encompass the goals of what most people want to see. The problem is that it's pretty tough to quantify "fun".
>>

>>
>>52259213
A rule of thumb is avoid overly oppressive strategies like MLD or commanders/combos that let you win at turn 3-4 out of nowhere. Usually as long as everyone has had his turn 6-7 and has done some shit they will walk out of the game with some fun in their pockets.
The limits vary a lot from group to group but that stuff is almost universally not appreciated in multiplayer games.

Hey guys, i'm a new player and i build an aleesha edh deck. I recently added a few cards and i noticed i might have an infinite combo, but i'm not sure and wanted to ask. Here is how it goes:
Reveillark and Goblin Bombardment (or any free sac outlet) on the field, play felidar guardian or fiend hunter, exile reveillark. Before the revwillark trigger resolves i sac the guardian or the hunter. Reveillark returns to the field. Then the trigger on the stack resolves and brings back guardian or fiend hunter and another creature with power two or less, repeat for infinite graveyard resurrection or for lethal with goblin bombardment.
Is this correct?
>>
>>52259707
>Reveillark and Goblin Bombardment (or any free sac outlet) on the field, play felidar guardian or fiend hunter, exile reveillark.
This is where it fucks up.

You're very close, but Reveillark's LTB ability requires targets when it's put on the stack, not when it resolves. And you can't sac Felidar Guardian or Fiend Hunter before their triggers resolve, either. It would require a trigger like Restoration Angel or Saffi Combosdotter. Keep looking, I'm sure you'll find something.
>>
>>52245513
>Ever snatched defeat from the jaws of victory?
Yeah, just recently managed to snag a win Jhoira that for a long time looked completely hopeless. Had suspended an Enter the Infinite early together with an Artisan of Kozilek, that would secure my victory if it resolved. Predictably it didn't, but meanwhile I became everyone's number one priority elimination.

By the time it came to cast it one of my opponents had drawn a counterspell, or maybe he had kept it the entire time; I don't know. Regardless it got countered, but the Artisan resolved and promptly smacked the player who countered my easy win. By now I thought for sure that there was no way I'd win as I was down in my lower 20's while my opponent's, one of whom was playing Oloro were all in their 40's and above, and I had drawn practlcally nothing but lands since my early turns.

Afterwards one of my other opponents played a kicked Cyclonic Rift. However, by this time I had enough mana avaible to hardcast the Artisan and proceeded to smack that opponent for making everyone's -- though mine in particular -- life's harder. That opponent seemed unphased by this, however, as he played Armageddon the next turn, leaving me with an Artisan and a tapped Monolith and everyone else with virtually nothing. Everyone agreed that he deserved to get eldrazi slapped again, killing him.

Next another opponent was able to draw just the right number of lands before drawing a removal spell for my Artisan, quickly followed by me drawing a wheel effect into a take a extra turn turn card followed by me taking yet another extra turn which in itself didn't result in much but resulted in me being ahead enough of my opponents to be able to play more eldrazis and eventually win through it all.
>>
>>52259707
It works with Felidar Guardian (not fiend hunter), but you need to sac Felidar guardian while it's trigger is on the stack and then resolve the trigger flickering Revillark to get Felidar Guardian back.
>>
>>52259893
You're right, I thought Felidar Guardian's ability required him to be on the battlefield when it resolved, like Banisher Priest. My bad.
>>
>>52259707
With a sac outlet and Kiki-Jiki, you could do infinite resurrection.
>>
>>52259893
So play guardian->his trigger goes on the stack->sac him->trigger resolves->reveillark leaves the battlefield->finds guardian but then who returns first? The blinked reveillark or the guardian from the graveyard?

>>52259972
Do i need kiki jiki? Reveillark gets me two creatures (almost all in the deck are 2 or less power anyway), one is the combi piece, the other is a creature with power 2 or less of my choice.
>>
>>52260119
The Guardians ability completely resolves, so Revillark will leave and enter the battlefield before it's 'Leave the Battlefield' trigger goes on the stack and resolves returning the Guardian to repeat the loop.

>>52260119
If the Felidar trigger is resolving you have to resolve the entire thing. Which means lark left and came back which puts the lark trigger on the stack choosing targets of Felidar, which you sacced with its own trigger on the stack and some other combo piece.

I would put kiki in just so that you have another way to abuse guardian/resto Angel/karmic guide/etc.

Do you have a decklist?

Cast a spell, the stack looks like this: Spell
Cast dualcaster mage, the stack looks like this:
Dualcaster ETB
Spell

Since soulbond and the ETB are both "when ... enters the battlefield" you can stack them however you wish, so make it look like:

Soulbond
Dualcaster ETB
Spell

Soulbond resolves, now you can blink Dualcaster, making the stack look like this:

Dualcaster ETB
Dualcaster ETB
Spell

Repeat what you did with the soulbond trigger the first time to make as many copies as you wish.

>>
>>52267084
An interesting gravecycling effect that gave longevity to GB without having any particular pay-off besides GGT, and folding completely to one of the best gravehate spells of all time printed in the immediate next set. It only really broke in Legacy where you had draw spells with stupidly high counts of drawing attached to cards like Breakthrough and payoff creatures like Ichorid and Nether Shadow.

It was definitely a shitty archetype compared to The Rock of old.
>>

It broke with Time Spiral block, really, as that is when they printed Bridge from Below, Dread Return, and Narcomeba, as well as dredge land.

Just for guessing? not worth a card slot. But if the other morph is good, it can't hurt to have it twice. Or each upkeep.
My Rashmi deck has three at the moment, the two from the pickles lock and kheru spellsnatcher. Will probably put in Denny P too, just because 4 the table's reactions and guesses are always hilarious, and Vesuvan gets better with each one.

Speaking of Rashmi and the pickles lock, what would you guys suggest in terms of win conditions for a Blue Green draw go ish deck that tends to keep things fair (like, one emergency combo and maybe one tutor at most)? So far I've got the following
>pickles lock, if i draw into it
>thunderfoot baloth
>archetype of imagination
>minds dilation
>triumph of the hordes
>a huge dude like realm seekers, plus evasion with like thassa
>stormtide leviathan
These are more or less fair and should work okay after spending the game countering spells and flashing in value dudes. But I'd love to hear more that aren't the usual avengerhoof or lab man combo.
>>
>>52268789

If you go the evasion creature route be sure to include Murkfiend Liege. Means you don't have to choose between attacking and keeping stuff up for blocking.
>>
>>52268155
well there's combos and i think that's it.
i once tried to build a brago deck but my turns were never ending and while i could grind the game to a halt, i couldn't actually win it.
i hope you have a better experience with the king.

Has anyone ever built a Ninja deck before? I get a lot of complements about how 'flashy' and 'fun' my deck is, but I can't close out games after I get ahead with my boardstate. Some jackass in our playgroup recently started playing with an Edric deck. It contains a bunch of one drop fliers, creatures that you sacrifice to counter spells, and a seemingly endless supply of counterspells and infinite extra turn shenanigans. I want to punish him, absolutely crush his spirit. What's the best way to do this? Hokori stax? Targeted land destruction? Red anti-blue trial?

i'm not 100% sure but i think the most simple way to do it is to just kill his commander over and over. and if he plays other card draw engines, kill those engines too. he won't be able to have the card advantage or mana to counter every one of your cheap removal spells

of course, doing that means you will be giving up your own card advantage as well, but if you're playing black then it shouldn't be a problem

Get character guard sleeves you weeb

You really need them since most of the time weeb sleeves split easily and these are always rare and never released again. They also provide a good shuffle feel and it effectively double sleeves as well.

I know from experience
>>
>>52261990
Possibility Storm is actually a Zada card. You essentially get 2 spells for the price of one with Zada's copy ability.
>>
>>52269788
One of the problems with the deck you describe is how fast he's going to establish 'lock' since he's using cheap shit to feed counterspelling, so resolving that one card that hates him out like nobody's business is going to be hard. Start by sitting to his immediate right so he's more likely to use up his counter tech on the rest of the table.

I'd run RGx, Probably Surrak Dragonclaw with a lot of "Can't be Countered" and Split Second tech. (Edric doesn't like Sudden Shock, Volcanic Fallout will ruin his fucking day, and Vexing Susher can protect everything) This makes it even more likely that he'll expend his counter wall before you, making it more likely to resolve Stranglehold and other "Stop that sillyness" tech like Void Winnower, Arcane Laboratory (With leyline of anticipation for you?), Omen Machine... you probably get the idea at this stage.

Alternatively, run Leovold. Ambassador ranks Spymaster, utterly turning off his ability to draw extra cards and then wheeling his hand away. You can run all the same cheap interference counters he does to resolve Leovold. As a victory lap of insult, run Edric in Leo's 99.

RDW is a terrible idea in EDH. Efficiency comes at the expense of card advantage, and your Goblin Guide and friends are not going to have a good time rushing down 40 life before they're rendered irrelevant and also dead, much less 80 or more from being in multiplayer. It's been said before and will be said again: Aggro as other formats know it DOES NOT EXIST in EDH, and it never will so long as this is a multiplayer format with padded life totals.

That isn't to say you can't win going wide with creatures, but you've got to know that Cards trump Time. They trump it HARD. You don't want to run a card that's just going to be casual chaff, it has to do something worth having at all stages of the game.

Kazuul is a kind of legit commander because he plays the politics game. Generally he ends up at the helm of decks that want to make it later in the game less chewed up.

Urabrask is the least of the Praetors. His enemy condition can mess people up and mass haste can be good for combos.

Feldon might be the closest to what you're looking for. I run him stax, but the ability to recur a powerful enters-the-battlefield can't be overstated.

Red Akroma is an OK voltron. I mean, she gains power, she has protections, she gives counterspells the finger. She threatens to 2-shot players fairly trivially and 1-shot is far from out of the question.

Have you considered Krenko? Going wide with tokens is probably the closest thing to traditional aggro that you can meaningfully do, and Krenko does monored tokens to a reasonable power level and does it on the cheap.

Well, they beat your opponents down, have evasion, and Brago generates a ton of mana anyway. 5 swings from either of them will kill a player at 40 life, 4 if brago hits them too

and the guy before was specifically looking for something budget

the only other thing I can think of is control with Azor's Elocutors, but taking no damage for five of your turns seems like it would be nearly impossible when you have a card like that out making you a target
>>

Quick rules clarification: If I use pic related's ability to get Karmic Guide back, then use Karmic Guide's ability to grab a creature, that second creature can't attack, even if it has haste, right?
>>
>>52270303
I know, that's why I suggested her. It's the Koth that throws me off, he seems hard to protect, and the deck doesn't typically aim to play a lot of lands.

>>52270433
Kazuul seems like a sound choice to me. The problem with multiplayer formats is that there are too many opponents to attack. You solve that by running Goblin Spymaster, Fumiko the Lowblood, Warmonger Hellkite and Charging Cinderhorn. Now, everyone is on the aggro plan, and if they attack you, Kazuul gives you more beaters. Help them a bit with Forbidden Orchard, Akroan Horse, Death by Dragons, Hunted Dragon, Varchild's War-Riders and Rite of the Raging Storm, and they can't even use the excuse of not having creatures.
>>
>>52270999
Yeah, I'm with this guy. If you ONLY have decks that require your houserules to function, that can be problematic (though if you only ever play with your group, not really), but it's fine to have one or two that work with houserules and just... not using them if people aren't okay with that.

"Hey, I have this Genju of the Realms deck my group lets me use- you guys okay with that? No? Alright, lemme grab a different deck, nbd."
