The Paths are just gonna replace normal Paths in 3 of my decks. Avacyns are probably going into Trostani, Ghave, and my binder to await a third deck. Seals are going into Ghave and Gitgud (my third black deck is Orkz, so having "imperial" in it doesn't make much sense, I guess?). Confluence, unsure- one goes into Melek for sure, though.

Do you want to BLOW UP EVERYTHING AT INSTANT SPEED EVERY DAMN TURN?!? If not, this is not the deck for you. Go play a deck for little babies like Ezuri, Kemba or anything else without black.

For the rest of you: welcome to the 5-Color Lands master race, where the gameplan is to mill the crap out of yourself while bullying people with lands. What's that? How do you bully with lands? I'll show you:

Opponent: I'm bringing in my stupid Selesnya commander because I'm a wuss who plays the worst colors.

You: End of turn, [[High Market]] to sac [[Child of Alara]]. Use [[Volrath's Stronghold]] to get him back so I can do it next turn.

Clear? Good. Next? You need a wincon. We have a couple good creatures and some manlands but those are plan B. Plan A is the holy grail of commander: [[Maze's End]]. Mill/recur all of the damn gates and then *BOOM!* everyone else is dead. Fact: regardless of your preferences, winning with Maze's End makes you better at sex. FACT

What meme cards/combos have come out since C15? I've been out of the loop.
>>
>>52271600
the 4 color precons are the best, most versatile and most powerful out of the best since 2011.

If I had to rate the precon products (not counting the 2012 commanders arsenal) I would put them as

2012
2016
2014
2015
2013

On one hand the 2013, 2014 and 2015 decks were pretty shit out of the box (tons of unplayable 5-6 drops 40+ lands in each deck, next to no ramp/card draw in the 99)
the commanders were pretty neat
the 2016 and 2011 sets really are set apart in that they are ALL sweet and the most playable out of the box.

all of the 2013 decks is unplayable out of the box, so its the worst.
the 2014 set was pretty much just as bad but had more bombs and playbles in the 99 but were still pretty unplayable out of the box.
the 2015 set was just about as playable out of the box as the 2014 set, although naturally Meren and mizzix preformed well despite the deck and I had a lot of sucess with daxos in precon vs precon matches.
overall I love the precon lists, but if I was to recommend one I would have a hard time doing it.
the 4c decks are good but getting a good landbase for them might be expensive, the mono and two color decks are really spotty and the 2011 3 color decks are expensive while the 2013 3 color decks are pretty much just avenues to pick up 3 generals at once.
>>
>>52272785
>(not counting the 2012 commanders arsenal)

>2012
I fucked it up
also I would rate the 2016 above the 2011

Some people think they're completely replacing what they have, it could also be a massive overhaul instead. Who knows. Either way, I would wait.

When are you going to drop your trip?

http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-digital/magic-digital-next-2017-02-17

Coincide this with the release of D&D Beyond as an actual program and Investor Day graphics putting this next to Duels and MTGO and it's obvious this is a new Magic platform and not some overarching term for their new digital group.

>>

>>

In the midst of making this too. I'm thinking land destruction and Stax elements, but somehow with a low mana curve. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
>>
>>52272785
2011 were terrible out of the box. Kaalia had a bunch of random jank and Political Puppets had an unplayable manabase
>>
>>52274349
You don't.

Mono-red is hard to pull off without cheesy shit like artifacts, but it is doable. You'd want to have a lot of artifact mana to help offset Zo-Zu doming you, and things like Basilisk Collar and Loxodon Warhammer to give him Lifelink. If you wanna be a real monster, toss in Grafted Exoskeleton to put everyone on one motherfucker of a clock.

That said, you highlighted the weakness there: everyone's gonna be gunning for you, and you're not actually strong enough to win a 3v1.
>>
>>52274383
>Stax
I want this meme to die.
>>
>>52274349
Storm Cauldron is MVP, especially if you pack the appropriate artifact Mana so you don't care about playing lands.
>>
>>52272191
Everyone who's a not total tool realizes that Sliver Queen is only 5c worth playing, though. She can run combo and lands, madbabby isn't even good. You can add Necrotic Sliver too to have ultravalue.
But you wouldn't know anything about good decks, right?
>>
>>52273146
You also need a catchphrase. "Flishy flashy dunk slam Jin-Jan the augur man" is taken though.
>>
>>52274413
I remember the Ghave deck, the animar deck (which is the one I had) and the memeoplasm decks all had bad cards in them but the generals were very powerful so its not the same problem that the 2013 decks had where it was a wet noodle fight for 15 turns until someone finally wins
>>
>>52274438
Stax is a fun archetype though, even if epic memesters throw that word everywhere.
Pure, good stax decks will want white in them, though.
>>
>>52274383
Mono-red Stax is kind of hard to pull off. Zo-Zu offers fairly little to it though he will at least provide some incidental damage as people keep playing new lands to stay ahead.

You're going to need to go crazy with your standard stax package: Static Orb, Sphere of Resistance, Tangle Wire, Smokestack, Winter Orb, Smoke -- the works. Bring Strip Mine and Ghost Quarter for sure, Wasteland if you can afford it, to turn your land drops into land kills. A Salvaging Station package -- that is, having a lot of good cost 1 or less artifacts, preferably with sac effects -- could be really nice. This is the time for Lotus Petal in EDH, though Lotus Bloom is of course better.

You will want to run basically all the cost 0-2 mana rocks. Crypt and Vault are nearly essential to letting you toss your hand onto the field and stay ahead of your own lockdown elements.

And FFS if you're going the "I hate lands" route, get yourself a Crucible of Worlds. Replaying your Strip Mine with Zo-Zu out hurts, but it'll hurt someone else more.

Higher Cost, but spicy tech from my Feldon Stax: Keldon Firebombers.

There's also hybrid decks, and some that try to play a more traditional control setup than just "lolstax".

What I'm sick of are the people who will literally just jam Winter Orb, Sphere of Resistance, Trinisphere, and Tangle Wire into any deck and start jerking off about how great their stax deck is. It'd be the equivalent of sticking Pestermite and Splinter Twin into an otherwise Monk Tribal WUR deck and jerking off about how great your combo deck is.

The Maze untaps it, but doesn't actually remove from combat, so it's still an "attacking creature" to the Maze.

Any spicy recommendations for Gaddock Teeg?

Right now I'm going for a blink & weenies sort of deal. The general game plan is to play Teeg as soon as I can, fuck around with some dickish things that disrupt my opponent's gameplan, play a billion tokens, and then drop something like Elesh Norn, Yosei, or Vorinclex.

I recently cracked a Voice of Resurgence, and I'd love to use it, but the more I try to build this deck, the less tokens and more control I seem to gravitate towards. GW is the last GXx deck I need to build to complete my collection, and by far the hardest.

This isn't infinite, each cycle costs 2U minus whatever the Elder is untapping.

The elder untaps 2 lands, so the second land can be any mana producing one to make infinite mana to infinitely cast the flicker.
Use the flicker on the Witness and Hermit, and by the time Witness triggers Flicker is already in graveyard and becomes a legal target, so you can just recur it infinitely and re-cast it infinitely with the infinite mana from Elder.

Also yea, any land will do for it, Arbor is just style points.

Other candidates include: Prince of Thralls and Chromanticore (same reasoning as above), Genju of the Realm (makes a creature in a way), the Nephilim (should've been Legendary from the start), Elbrus the Binding Blade (back is a creature, and it's still a spell normally), Huntmaster of the Fells (FAR better RG Werewolf legend than shitty no-synchro Ulrich), and maybe the Kamigawa flip cards where they're a normal creature on one part and flip into a Legendary.

tell us more about your playgroup. What sort of decks are they running? How tuned, overall, are said decks? Do your fellow players have good threat assessment? Are your fellow players easily pissed off by certain strategies?

Next, tell us what sort of decks you like. Color preference? Playstyles you enjoy and playstyles you cant stand?

My fifth was Grizzly bears

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/list-of-bear-cards/
Look at all these bears. Some are not functional reprints but even reprints of grizzly bears have a singular bear on their art.

Non-functional reprints that are still bears and represent 2/2 are
>ashcoat bear
>Caller of the claw's token
>Unbonded Druid's Familiar
>pale bears
>phantasmal bear
>striped bears art shows 1 bear and has a PT of 2/2 despite having a plural name
>Balduvian Bears also has a plural name but only on bear in the name
>Ulvenwald Bear

So yu can clearly see here that generally one bear = 2/2
>>
If your play group doesn't actively avoid infinite combos you have a shit group.
>>
>>52281169
the playgroup is mostly timmys. their decks are all about ramping as hard as possible in the first few turns to rush out big flashy 8-drops with no protection. that being said, they're not very well tuned, but if no one can stop a doubling season into avenger of zendikar, games end pretty quickly. as for threat assessment, they just target whoever is running the deck with the most control in it. they despise any deck that can win on the spot without going through combat.

i like red decks. not monored, but definitely at least a splash of red. i'm open to any strategy really.

Well, if you are playing with a bunch of timmies, you might as well try to play with a deck that works well with their preferred playstyle (battlecruiser magic), but is also built with their decks ways on interaction in mind.

If your playgroup likes big creatures but dislikes control, you should go for a creature based strategy aswell. Trostoni works wonders against battlecruiser decks as you can go wide with tons of blockers while gaining chunks of life. Tokens are cool too. Alternatively, you could always try to become king of the timmies. Thromak is as big as they come and should be able to smash through just about any creature in the game at critical mass. You could also play rakdos lord of riots to go overhead and dump your hand faster then they can deal with. Brion also rewards you for playing large creatures, gives you life, and offers a way past the wall of fat that is sure to develop at tables like this.

>i just learned that most un-cards are legal in commander
I've not autistic enough to try running something like Mox Lotus or Gleemax, but would R&D's Secret Lab + a 5E Ashnod's Transmogrant allow creatures to remain artifacts across zone changes (for a sac/revive engine) since "permanently" as a rules term was errata'd out?

When I was told to stop being the blue-fag all the time I killed my group with a turn 6 tooth and nail for kiki-jiki/great oak guardian.

They stopped inviting me and now I have to pay $10 to play with randoms at the lgs on Saturday.

Tappedout needs to get their shit together then, since it claims that they're legal in both EDH and Vintage, and some commenters have referred to specific un-cards being banned (e.g. City of Ass)
>>

i like the idea of tokens. i'd be happy to play prossh, but i'd definitely get hated on by people expecting i'm running a competitive food chain list.

Testing and it seems too weak
>>
>>52282593

>>
I know Boros sucks shit, but is Alesha much better?
>>
>>52282593
I like her better in the 99. Melek, Mizzix, Niv Mizzet-- take your pick
>>
>>52282593
I personally play her in a control deck with a ton of counter spells, card-stealing spells, spell copiers, spells that untap your lands and 1cmc instants. You always have a full hand and always feel like you have options.
The downside of this deck is that you never have much of a board state, and it takes a while before you're ready to win.
I find it really strong in 1v1, but really weak in multiplayer games where you might not have the mana to counter every threat.

Another common way to play her is as an artifact commander. You can turn your mana rocks into cantrips, allowing you to ramp far better than most other red or blue decks.
It's also quite flavorful, because finding artifacts is what Jori does in the lore. Just make sure you have a shitload of mana rocks so you can play 1 or 2 every turn.

I find her extremely fun (because casting lots of spells is normally fun), but she is not close to being overpowered.
>>
Planning to build a deck core around Maelstrom Wanderer feat. Jhoira and Rashmi.

Any fun tech to just absolutely shit spells all over the fucking board? I want to cast shit on the cheap, I want to cast shit for free, I want to copy it, I want to copy spells, I want to clone stuff, I want to break the fucking mana economy over one knee until it cries.

Yidris is probably the better commander for that but I'm not sold on building him over Wanderer. I also want to make a "legendary" theme deck with either Wanderer or Yidris, and if I build Yidris, I'll be going for a crazy legendary-creature-only theme.
>>
>>52282593
I tried a Kiln-fiend/prowess combo deck with her. It didn't work out too well. But she's fun to pilot besides.

Somebody must have built Merfolk tribal with her

Yisan is by far the cheapest to build. Buy a bunch of common turn 1 mana ramp (utopia sprawl, llanowar elves, etc.) Buy the combo pieces to get infinite mana or play-your-deck bullshit, and the wincons can be whatever janky shit you want. Boom, Yisan can guarantee a combo win in less than 6 turns for less than 75$

-Tarmogoyf
-Misty Rainforest
-Verdant Catacombs
-Arid Mesa
-Goblin Guide

Definitely got really lucky. I think I'm going to hang onto the Goyf for a while and trade it once the price inevitably starts rebounding.

For more casual lists you might get more out of melek but in a more classic storm package a few extra draws in the command zone for 3 Mana is much better.
I made a super shit version of this guy's list using cards I had and it still does fine. Though the printing of aether flux reservoir helped a lot.
