Just have the player that owns the unit being shot at allocate the wounds. Not ideal ofcourse because that way weapon specialists and unit leaders are never going to tank wounds unless they have to, but when it's only with barrage weapons it isn't that bad. Can still snipe with range, LoS, and precision shots.

I know /hhg/ hates 750 points lists, but here is my 500 space awoooos list for evening/ pick up games.

HQ
-130-
>Priest of Fenris
>Speaker of the dead, PF, Melta Bombs

Troops
-175-
>Grey Slayers
>10x Shields, 2x PF

-175-
>Grey Slayers
>10x Shields, 2x PF

Elites
-270-
>Deathsworn pack
>MB's, Powerfist
>Rhino transport, Multi Melta

Priest rides with the Deathsworn in the Rhino forward to fuck up armor and any other HQ's
Grey Slayers walk forward to reach the mini-deathstar a turn or so later to enter melee and finish off whatever is there.

Six Powerfists, six Melta Bombs, a Multi-melta, 20 combat shield saves for marines. I am not sold on the Deathsworn/Rhino combination. I may remove it for something with more punch against Armor or Air.
>>
>>51625451

As it happens, the Crassus was made by Zhou-Arkkad, the Forgeworld that is headlining Inferno.

Though it would have a different name in M31.
>>
>>51625853
You could drop the MM and MB from the deathsworn and get 2 more fists on the slayers.
>>
>>51625880
If I remove the MB from the deathsworn alone, I could get the maximum amount of fists for each 10 man squad- 3.
Though I could just trade the PF from the priest and give the slayers those two fists- 20 point PF to two 10 point PF's
>>
>>51625912
Oh, right, the melta-bombs are on the whole squad. I say drop the bombs for the fists and trade the Priest's fist for a power weapon, which you upgrade to a frost weapon. If you drop the melta-bomb from him, you can get a great frost blade.

I think a MM and 7 power fists is enough at 500pts.

Yeah. Betrayal contains basic ZM rules, while Extermination introduces ship-boarding actions (Blood in the Void). There's another mode in Extermination - Victory is Vengeance - for kill-team-style games.
ZM requires a lot of terrain though.
Basic rundown of rules is:
>modified FOC
>max unit size of 15 models
>no dedicated transports
>no monstrous creatures on base bigger than 60mm
>templates and blasts gain shred, if already with shred then +1S

MkVI has poor armour, right?

Would it be ok to take MkVI legs and torso, give it a bare head, bare arms and small (IG style?) shoulder pads, as well as a small backpack (like Skitarii ones, but less Admech), and use it as Scout armour?

As of the Last Imperial Guard Codex there are thousands of Imperial worlds inhabited by abhumans homo mermaidus who are adapted to underwater life.

The Imperium has armies billions strong filled with blue skinned assholes with gills.
>>
>>51626320
MkVI had the same problem as the MkV (which is why it has studded shoulder pad, etc.), since it used MkIV style plates (as oppose to segmented ones like MkII and III) but the materials for them were in short supply. It's one reason it was considered such a poor armour and why some wanted it to fail. The armour didn't become better until after the Heresy, when better materials became available once again.

Anvil Industry bare arms were what I was thinking for them.
>>
>>51626320
Cheers, shame there were no gaunts ghosts though, HH gets a bit samey after a while and Imperial guard stuff seems to be a bit more aware.

>>
>>51626961
Probably not but why does that matter.
There isn't any reason why mkiii couldn't use a jet pack. The armour is heavier but they aren't fucking terminators for Christ's sake.
If you think it will look cool, just do it.
>>
>>51627047
I like this anon. He has a fully functioning brain.
>>
>>51627047
It's not just the weight, it's balance. MkIII has thick extra plating on the front and reduced armour on the rear. And the jump packs would be on their backs. In all likelihood a MkIII marines firing up the engines would just do a cool, rocket assisted front flip, and proceed to eat shit.

There must be a reason why MkIII didn't have jump pack variants.
>>
>>51627165
I always assumed it was because jump pack troops will land in the midst of the enemy, rather than approaching from the front and eating gunfire to the face (I know in the game they land in front of the enemy then run forwards, but fluff-wise they normally seem to come down in the middle of enemy formations). So if they have enemies on all sides, Mk III loses its main advantage. Doesn't mean you can't wear it in an assault though - I could see someone that gets in challenges a lot choosing to wear Mk III for example.

OK retard. Literally the only reason is FW never bothered to make the model. Also since mkiii is essentially up armored mkii, the jet pack mount site is probably the same.
And if in the far future, the armor systems can't figure out how to adjust their vectors on an unstable platform (like how the avionics package in an f16 helps compensate for its inherently unstable design) then it was truly a dark age.

Just wanted to see you aren't trolling.
There's one Compulsory HQ slot in the AoD FOC. In the LA(Word Bearers) example I posted, another HQ slot becomes Compulsory and not Optional and must be filled be either Centurion or Captain.
In the case of LA(Space Wolves), one Compulsory HQ slot must be filled by either Praetor or Centurion in games of up to 1000pts. For another 1000pts, another HQ must be taken, but this requirement doesn't change the Optional HQ slot to Compulsory HQ slot and as such any HQ unit can fulfill the requirement, even Damocles Rhino. The only part I'm confused about is how does this work in games above 3000pts, although "must include at least 1 HQ unit per 1,000 points or part thereof in the army regardless of the Force Allocation chart being used" might cover that.
I hope this clears it up for you.

You include a Praetor/Centurion as the compulsory HQ for your force, but you can put any HQ slot choice in after you have put them in. So you must have a praetor/centurion to cover the requirement for the FOC, in the same way that only certain troop choices are mandatory for the force in the first place.
BUT for each 1000 points after the first, you must include another HQ choice, but it doesn't have to be a Praetor or Centurion, as the "mandatory" FOC HQ must be.
Imagine if an RoW said "you must take more troops than fast attack units", for example. Tacticals, Breachers, and Assaults are normally the "compulsory" units to fulfill the "you must have two troops" requirement, but you could have "support squads" to fulfill the requirements of the RoW.
In the case of the SW, it appears to me that the Praetor or Centurion are the only type that can fulfill the "compulsory" requirement of the 1 HQ you need to fill an FOC, but other HQ choices after those that are required per 1000 points can be consuls.

>>51627588
I think he's taking the rule to mean that the SW have to include a Praetor or non-consul Centurion per 1000 points, to the exclusion of consuls.
As I understand it, the "compulsory" HQ choice is the first one, but even though it is technically "compulsory" in the simple use of the word to have another per 1000 points, in Warhammer rules, "compulsory" means something specific to the Force Org Chart.
>>
>>51627604

but the rules use a seperate terminology for Compulsory and "must take" get some fucking reading comprehension you fucking mongloid fuck. jesus fucking christ.

"must take" doesn't preclude legion support officers.

>>
>>51627716
It's probably implicit in the rule that they can take another HQ to do that.
If one wanted to be a real sperg about it, maybe Primarch's Chosen could be a workaround. Would a Praetor or Centurion still have to be taken if Russ is the compulsory HQ choice?

I wouldn't mind. Could find a few more characters I could squeeze in there.

>Would a Praetor or Centurion still have to be taken if Russ is the compulsory HQ choice?

I don't see anything in his rules that says he counts as either of them, so... yes?

It's disappointing that I waited for this long for legion rules and now I'm waiting for FW to FAQ all their stupid design decisions so I'm sure about my options.

Close to the same as mk Vi, marginally weaker by a tiny % against direct penetration, much better at handling system damage and field repairs, and vastly improved auto-senses and thermal signature.

Basically mk IV was gold standard right up until a year or two before the heresy, when MkVI field trials began (primarily with RG and Ultras, but other legions did have prototypes, except IW because perty got his jimmies rustled)

So how well do the sisters work on their own?
im considering running exclusively sisters led by krole, with the custodes pallas and caladius grav tank for armoured support as they fim better with the sisters aesthetic than custodes IMO
would that be viable? or are they absolutely dependand on custodes being there as well?
>>
>>51628709
Could well work, they're pretty well set for anti-infantry, and anti-light armour with their dedicated transports. The biggest thing sisters seem to be missing is the ability to crack AV14, but if you're taking caladius tanks then that solves that. The second biggest thing they're missing is any skyfire, but that's why the god-emperor gave us fortifications (and 65 point, BS4 troops to man them).
>>
>>51628589
That isn't MK III but some custom type of armour. You can tell because the back of the greaves and chest armour are just flat surfaces and nothing like MK II and III are.

Master of Mankind - I'm an AbbaDabbaDoo fan (loved Night Lords and First Heretic/Betrayer) and obviously it made some waves.

Scars - heard it's awesome, love me some white scars, might even serve as inspiration for a hobby project

Flight of The Eisenstein - I started it after reading the opening trilogy, and wasn't impressed by the writing style. Obviously though Garro is important and I hear a lot of people say good things about this one.

So i encountered for tthe first time the otther day, someone who had an issue with my army.

So I'm working on my space wolf force, but Im making it 13th company. I sarted with 13th company during EoT so its kind of a throwback to that. So its Heresy era marines with 1-2 bits of 40k chaos parts, all painted in heresy era SW colours, and a variety of heresy era traitor colours for tthe scavenged bits. And this is mostly just the basic infantry, characters, terminators and vehicles dont really have any of this. Im using them as wolves now but was blackshields before.

But this dude kicked up a stink about it, saying it wasnt a 30k force, just a 40k one using 30k rules, how it wasnt fluffy. So here I pose tthe question /hhg/, is my army too far outside the standard of the HH?

Just have barrage weapons remove models from closest like normal weapons. None of this allocate your own wounds shit. Or allow characters to los on 1+.

Or maybe prioritize models under the blast markers first, but without having to first remove the ones closest to the center of the first blast marker.

And yeah, Precision Shots should at least do a penalty to Look Out, Son! You gotta roll a 6 to even get to pick an enemy model, but the 2+ LOL NOPE makes it extremely pointless.

>Space Wolves:
Pro: New & shiny. Unorthodox, melee-oriented legion to complement the IF's suitedness for long-range "conventional" tactics.
Con: Not battle brothers with the UM or BA, and in fluff are a bunch of arseholes honestly. Plus their uniqueness or melee-focus might make you overlook the strengths of the IF.

>Blood Angels
Pro: Fluffy, nice guys, Sanguinius will probably be the best loyalist primarch. Fast tanks and BRRRRT.
Con: Rules not out yet, probably not going to be as unique as SW, probably going to put more emphasis on jump packs than most IF lists ever go near.

>Salamander:
Pro: Also bro-tier, good flamers and elite units, potential for fearless blobs.
Con: Don't really add much the IF can't do already in one way or another, with their s l o w n e s s penalty.

>Ultramarine:
Pro: Some cool special units.
Con: They add even less that the IF can't do already, and their special rules get weaker in "diluted" forces compared to pure Ultramarines. Plus fluff is kind of iffy.

>>51630652
Kind of pains me to say it, but Sigmarines are probably a decent source of parts for Custodes kitbashes. If you're any good with GS, try sculpt it on the bare parts of Sigmar armour. Fluff says their armour can be unique to each Custodes, with gaudy (read: noob-sculpted) designs.

So, after trying out a game of 30k, I was kinda blown away by how much I like it, and Im kinda interested in maybe getting in on this game.

I traditionally painted Night Lords, but I've always played regular Space Marines rules wise, and 30k feels likeca really good mix. Plus, after buying BaC, I think I've got a decent starting force, although I definetly want to expand my forces. So far, I've got about ten Regular Termies, 5 Cataphracts, 3 Captains, 20 Tacticals, 2 Rhinos, 2 Boxnoughts, 5 Breachers, 1 Contemptor, 5 Sternguard with flamers, and 5 Missile Devastators. Most of these are Mk IV, with a few bits and pieces from older or newer patterns.

Would this be a good starting force for Night Lords?
>>
>>51629565
Using CSM bits is fine, but he's in the right because SW a worst.
>>
>>51630444
I have to work now but here's the short version.

Their carriers value is about as terrible as a fw rhino. The grav attack squads aren't much better. The tank, dreadnaught, and guys would be equivalent point to dollar wise of running around with a legion of plastic kitted out terminators(base line custodes have better dollar to point ratio than the termies), heavily upgraded leviathans, and sicaran venators. So not as good as I thought.
>>
>>51627555
>world bearers
>yikes
>>
>>51631105
Huh. I was wondering if the low model count would make them cheap like grey knights are, but I guess the price of those vehicles rather spoils things.
>>
What's the best way to run Imperial Militia and Cults alongside Alpha Legion? Leaning towards mass levy with tank support, using cult horde/tainted flesh, but I'm also thinking about a Civil War style gun line with Rapier "cannon" support.
>>
>>51624712
If you use plastic vehicles and drop pods, you'll be fine. Footslogging lists have to face some very hard counters.
>>
>>51631216
The actual plastic custodes are probably the best point to dollar at all, but yea their vehicles kind of ruin things. Now granted leviathans and sicaran venators are good point/dollar wise as far as fw goes. It's their carrier that is super expensive.
>>
>>51631287
Do you even want the transport carrier though ? With it not being an assault vehicle and being able to choose the infiltrate warlord trait anyway and all that ...
>>
>>51626331

speaking of plastic custodes, is there any clever use of the sentinel guard (sword and shield dudes) as cover, since they grant a 4+ cover save to all friendly units behind them? or are sentinel guard just good to put a shield captain inside for ablative wounds

Its pretty beefy, its gun is solid for its point cost, and it is safer and faster than footslogging (effective AV 14 front and grav-backwash, not to mention fast skimmer).

Even without the transport cap, is a calladius with a weaker main gun for 60 points less.

Yeah. It's common for NL players to use a lot of drop pods, but that isn't necessary.

Don't worry, I've been flushing it with water since it happened around noon, and the bleached areas of skin are now back to normal. I work at a water supply place and the handles of the peroxide jugs were a bit wet during inventory today. 25% solution, apparently peroxide's caustic qualities become dangerous at 10% or stronger. Luckily I noticed my hand burning and tingling in time.

A 3k list with two grav tanks one galatus dreadnought and 33 walking custodes would be about $700. If you upped the cost you could squeeze another custodes or two or give the others better gear. It's cheaper to MSU the sentinel guard than it is to 10 man them unless I'm gong crazier

Good gods, no. Even if you wanted to paint something white, you wouldn't use a real white. You'd use Ulthuan Gray as the main color. Maybe Pallid Wych Flesh if you want something very light, but also slightly warm (dirty). But you shouldn't be going for a white.

There's no canon factory primer color. In real life, steel (like for tanks) is usually given a red-brown primer. WWII German tank barrels had a glossy dark gray primer for heat resistance. Planes have historically been primed with yellow-green (zinc chromium, I think) or bluish metallics. None seem appropriate. I'd stick something between gray and bone.

Not really. Give the heavy support squad a Rhino with a MM on it and you have a small unit capable of handling light armor.
>>
>>51633580
No, it's common enough. In large games you may want to expand them, depending on their role. Support squads on suicide missions (like drop podding next to a terminator squad with plasmaguns, or next to a tank with meltas) are often kept small.

As >>51633494 said, the other option is to run your mixed squads as veterans. You can kind of think of 30k veterans as 40k tactical marines.

>>
>>51633656
Gun is shiny, nothing special.

The big thing is the psychic powers, which either give it a large area nuke it can use to clean house of all the stuff it rolled a D 1 to wound, or most importantly allow it to roll IWND for every HP it's lost, so you now have to nuke it in one or two turns because it regens 1/3 of it's lost health.

It's ML3, too, so with a couple other psykers around it can cast several.

Right, I've finally found a decent whale model for my insane Stormbird project, it'll take a while to get here though. Says "Resin" but that's a little vague in what it'll be like to work with, though.

So far plan is to remove most of the belly to make room for stuff and add in some ribs attached to the gondola/gantry, and remove the lower jaw bit and build the command bridge into there. Also add an upper deck, probably sunk about 3/4 of an inch down into the back. Going to have to chop quite a lot of bits off it. Tail will have most of the fins removed and replaced with engines, because Dark Mechanicum. Anyone have any ideas for how I could trick it out besides lascannon + Hbolters and such? Needs void shields, something to either shoot or call down the Orbital Strike, and whatever other stuff you can think of. Disembark points are probably going to be gaps in the top-deck railings.

They're fine, mostly. So long as they're not OP it's grand.
We'll really need to see their special units and whatever new RoWs incorporating those they bring in to see how they fare.

With the "wings" of the DA in particular, I think we'll see some pretty high-level gameplay.
>>
>>51633894
You probably get Divination. Prescience for yourself or someone else is always good, and other powers are all pretty good as well, especially that 4++.

Sword is sweet as it hits on initiative, and fact that your Dread denies on 4+ is hilarious, albeit completely useless.

So you pay 25 for ML1(Prescience and something else+charge for your army) and then another 25 for shred on bolter, AW and that sweet sword. On their own they are not terrible, but together they don't really improve your Dread much.

In comparison, you can pay 50pts to upgrade your 5man termy squad with power-fists and plasma.

When I learned the Emperor raised the Custodes out of broken children, I supported it, for I knew it was necessary.

When I learned the Emperor culled his own Thunder Warriors in a traitorous move and buried their fate I accepted it, because they weren't meant to be the kind children of the new era.

When I learned the Emperor hid the Primordial Truth from everyone I agreed with Him, for He protected us from the universe with His Lie.

When I comprehended His Great Crusade was a tyrannical oppression to make the galaxy dance to His tune I gripped my heart, for I knew kindness wouldn't forge Mankind's abode in the stars.

When I discovered His power and His children came from a bargain with the Dark Gods I pitied Him, for I understood He had doomed Himself for us.

When I realized what could have been the fates of the Mechanicum and Navigators if His plan succeeded I steadied myself, for I understood progress cannot come without destruction of the previous order.

When I learned how He treated Angron and left him to his own devices to earn the Warrior's Death He owed him I could only weep at His mercy.

When I heard at what lengths He would go to acquire Disintegrator weapons I knew it was right, for that power should not be left loose upon the galaxy.

But when I learned His Left Hand of Darkness, the Ordo Sinister, is powered by the constant agony of the Cursed Ones, I could only be afraid of Him, and nothing more.

Only reason to do this is if you are using Magnus, who can explode everything with his three-foot nuke.

Otherwise you will be spamming Levitation/Prescience and other Biomancy/Divination buffs to enhance your army since that is way more effective.

You will have less models, but only by a small margin while massively increasing your damage output - i.e. vets with Prescience/Precog and Asphyx Shells.
>>
>>51634139
Yeah, might try that. It'll have proper decking on it in all probability, but I can probably build a sensor array in somewhere if I find suitable parts. 'Tis a Mechanicum craft, so tesla coils and such are fair game.
Metal spine, maybe. Obviously it will be under the decking along the middle section, but I can have it like a giant version of the carapace on Tyranid Gant heads, except in metal. Seeing as the Baneblade kit I'm probably going to pull a lot of parts from has some big searchlights and such, I may replace one eye with a lens if I feel comfy putting that many holes in what is probably hollow resin.
Exoskeleton is probably not going to be extensive, since I want to have lots of the flesh showing, but I might get one of those greenstuff cable-making things and doing some rigging on the sides.
Turns out it's on Amazon, too, with free shipping. Now only £80. Got to pray it's still there Friday, but I'm hopeful.

Gondola will have the bridge at the front, built where the lower mouth currently is, then some exposed gantry with railings, then the gun section with probably Baneblade sponsons for the Hbolters and Lascannon. Not quite sure where all the ladders and engines and such will actually go yet, I will need to plan it out more thoroughly when I have the model. Slightly want to make it a bit asymmetrical re. flippers and engines, though.

Thinking of a ZM SW force with the following, thoughts?

HQ

-135-
>Geigor Fell-Hand

-120-
>Priest of Fenris
>Speaker of the dead, Great Frost Blade, Melta Bombs

Troops
-215-
>15x Grey Slayers
>15x Bolters, 1x PF on the Huscarl

-175-
>Legion Support Squad
>5x Melta

Elites
-205-
>Legion Veteran Squad
>10x Vets
>1x Powerfist
>2x Plasma
>Marksmen

-150-
>Contemptor Cortus
>Kheres AC

1x troops as all that's required for ZM force org.
Priest rolls with the Vets, Geigor with the Slayers.

I like how TS are one of the forces where a Pride list is both fluffy and reasonably in sync with the obvious playstyle of loading up your vets with stationary blessings and keeping them safe while attempting to go to town with your levitating termies.
The only problem is balancing out your vehicle allotment with your Legiones Astartes, as you'll be only giving yourself space for one effective counter each for air, armour etc.
However you can try and get away without putting your Termies in assault vehicles and so free up some space that way or try for the glass cannon Blade Cult for shits and giggles.
>>
>>51634588
100% NY paper, I can smell it from here.
>>
>>51634687
Vehicle allotment has been troubling me a lot, I must admit. the two Sicaran variants seem the most bang for the buck despite the fragile nature of it. maybe a flakk missle heavy weapon squad for anti air
>>
>>51634695
Only the best kind of paper
>>
>>51634687
TSons are surprisingly weak against air, besides presciencing unit that got AA on it's own.

What are stats on Mauler cannon? Maybe hooking up three Castallax with ML3 psyker with divination to give them twin-linked and Ignore Cover could be worth it. You are looking at 500pts, but they can just sit on objective and shoot at other units on table pretty well.
>>
>>51634805
>TSons are surprisingly weak against air, besides presciencing unit that got AA on it's own.
I mean drop pod assaults are what got them slaughtered right?
>>
>>51634750
If you don't mind the model, a dorito can solve a lot of problems.
>>
>>51634805
Mauler Cannon is S6AP3 H3 Pinning, not exactly what you want. Darkfire might do, but I don't think they get them.
>>

>>

You can get darkfire cannons on a TS praevian's buddies. For added fun, with legion inductees they get a 4++ against shooting if you go raptora.
>>
>>51634833
This is what I think I'll end up trying, I actually like the model a lot.
>>51634828
Ha, the fluffiness knows no bounds.
>>
>>51634847
Sergeants as champions, give them melta bombs and jumppack, and as long as you don't model them throwing all will be well
>>
>>51634847
SWs can't take Primus Medicaes.
Rebuild your list.
You might be able to take advantage of siege breakers, forge lords, and the ones that buff the army as a whole.
>>
>>51634894
Wait, it'd actually be more useful to go the Praevian route than just jamming in some psi-Castellax?
Huh.
>>
>>51634845
>9 shoots at BS4 with reroll
>8 hits, killing Marines on 2s with rerolls if you have Perfect Timing

It's not terrible, depending on the range. I think that Plasma Cannon is 48" so that's another possibility. Price is still an issue, especially with added points for plasma.

>Darkfire

I'm mostly trying to see if i can make Castellax into unit that is securing back objective while helping rest of the board, especially since they are also scary in melee.
>>
>>51634847
How can your entire armies points cost not be affected by grey slayers and wargear?
>>

A lot of TS stuff seems fun to use, but unaffordable. Besides the Sekmet terminators, I really can't see any of the legion specific unit seeing wide spread use.

Why not just take Crassus Armoured Assault Transport for 12 Justaerin, Horus, Primus Medicae and Chaplain in TDA?
Turn 2 you're giving them the dicking of the lifetime.
>>
>>51634923
>SWs can't take Primus Medicaes.

Ok, "Spooker of the Dead" instead then.
>>
>>51634964
Blade Cabal is pretty good what it does, but you both need something they can explode in a charge, a full units and Anvillus to make them work, which is already around 450pts. They hit ludicrously hard, but they are still squishy and slow.

Still, they can be pretty scary if they roll well on Biomancy, especially if they have someone nearby to Prescience them as well.
>>
>>51634930
Probably, seeing as he buffs them up nicely, you get more and better weapons, you won't have them totally crippled when out of control and they probably won't explode because you perils at the wrong moment, even if you lose the psychic nuncio-vox and a couple other things.

>>51634940

Range is rather short, 24" IIRC. They're certainly very nice, I always have at least 2-4 in my Mechanicum, and they'll be even better with psychic powers, but not quite what you want for anti-air work.

Darkfire is pretty much perfect for backline Castellax, especially twin-linked from psyk. Can you buy Legion automata Enhanced Targeting? That would take a lot of the work of buffing them off and you can concentrate on other things, since that's BS5 and cover at -1. Darkfire is 60" Heavy 2 Lance Plasma, it pretty much works on everything decently.
>>
>>51634957
I ended up with 6000pts. after all the changes. Now I just have to add all the new HQs.

Sure, changing tacticals into slayers upped their cost by 10pts. thanks to all the new stuff I gave them, but I saved a lot of points taking combat shield slayers instead of Breachers (good thing I didn't assemble them yet).
>>
>>51635012
Because, and this is retarded, the Crassus Armoured ASSAULT transport is not actually an assault transport and lacks the assault ramp. FW gotta FW, I guess.
>>
>>51635020
If they do the same thing, then fine.

Speaking of, how do non-HQ rank-and-file "apothecaries" look in 30k Space Wolves' fluff?
Do they have white armour or do they have the full Wolfie Wolf McWolf-Wolf "priest" gear?
>>
>>51635029
>>51634964
The biggest issue with the blade cabal is veterans can do a lot of what they can, including getting biomancy, but can also bring a few power axes for that AP2. But the real tiebreaker for me is that veterans score - while the blade cabal is great at pushing most Troops choices in the game off objectives, they can't then capture it themselves.
>>
>>51635012
Yeah, I'll make some more sketches tomorrow I think. My drawing skills are decidedly subpar, but it'll help, especially if I use the images as blueprints.
>>
>>51635101

>>
>>51635059
>>51634940
Good posts, a work up of the two options may be in order. I mean, the Praevian route will be much more expensive (esp if you psyker him), but if a backline unit is what you want, it'll get you the best kit that unit can have.
>>
>>51635112
against the same targets that they are gonna be sent to, I think the blade squadron does better because the sheer number of stats and WS being made higher.
>>
>>51635112
You really only want Blade Cabal to explode something in assault. Even without Biomancy you are looking at 51 attack with AP3, possible instant death at WS6. If you get lucky with Iron Arm, Warp Speed or even Enfeeble they straight up vaporize virtually everything.

>>51635141
Idea is that they are pretty good budyguards for your warlord, while in TSons your warlord can also buff the shit out of them with Divination.
>>
>>51635118
Don't worry if you can't draw like a pro, it's just to make the juices flow stronger.

>>51635096

The stormlord sure isn't.
>>
>>51635214
Fairly certain they aren't, since there was a big debate over whether the Stormlord rule for being open-topped for only embarkation or disembarkation purposes meant you can charge out of it or not. So yeah, they borked that one up royally, same problem with the Gorgon IIRC.
>>
>>51635262
>open-topped
>>
>>51635302
It doesn't get blown up easier because it's open topped, but 20 models can shoot out of it.
>>
>>51635252
Force Axe is just worse PF- aside from Mechanicum stuff S8 is usually your ID threshold, but the axe is just S5.

What it really comes down to is what you desire; axe/Fist is more consistent, but the blade can kill instantly at initiative. Personally I'd take the Paragon blade for sake of I5 AP2, but if you want a librarian then knock yourself out.
>>
>>51635263
>>51635262
A shame. But at 250pts it's still good to transport two loaded units, maybe two 16/17-man tacs with apothecaries to secure a part of the battlefield early on then use it like a glorified battering ram, right?
>>
>>51635308
open-topped mean Assault Vehicle.
>>
>>51635343
True, but it also means extra damage and people firing out of it without fire points.

It's almost like the stormlord isn't open to- oh wait.
>>
>>51635214
I've been thinking about this project for a few weeks, it's gone through a few iterations until I found one halfway feasible, and until yesterday it was a pipe dream, then I realised I am allowed to just do stuff like that, nobody actually stopping me.

My friend had an equally weird idea about making a Nurgle Thunderhawk out of a lamb skeleton when we were having a silly brainstorming session and I haven't seen him in a few weeks, I'll have to see if anything came of that, although I doubt it.

>>51635335

If you want to do that, you would probably be better off with a Gorgon, although I don't know if Legions can have them. That can fit the full 42 dudes and have some spare room, and has better armour for the job, 14/14/20. Don't think it's much more expensive, even if the Crassus looks cooler IMO. You want to use it, sure, sounds like a fun strategy. Maybe Vet squads? It can take 3, with room for ICs, but I don't know if Legions want to buy more than the compulsory troops or get other toys instead.
>>
>>51630511
Blood angels for that battle of terra unity
>>
>>51635392
Doesn't matter on the rules layering there. The unit checks to see if it disembarked from an assault transport, they see they disembarked via the open topped rule and thus can charge.
>>
>>51635498
That's not how it works at all.

Turn to the page in the BRB that has open-topped you'll notice that the bit about (em/disem)barking from open topped transports and the bit that says open topped vehicles have the assault vehicle special rule are entirely different sections.
>>
>>51635546
So why does it have the special rules for loading and unloading of passengers vs. the other baneblade variant transports? Just for model placement purposes or do you figure it'd have some meaning beyond that?
>>
>>51635597
The actual stormlord model is actually quite different from the other baneblades, the cannon housing is thrust forward and the decking where the troops hang out is twice as big so it's presumably easier to jump off.
>>
>>51635597
It means the entire hull of the thing is an access point, which is big with something that large. Also I guess you can disembark in a neat circle around it if you have a levy squad or something and want to bubblewrap. Personally I think it makes sense as an assault vehicle, but it's not a huge deal.
>>
>>51635546
The unit has no way of "knowing" what transport they came from without the check triggering. To the unit that disembarked all they "see" is that they disembarked from an open-topped transport.
>>
>>51635685
Dude, the all have the housing forward. The other variants don't have the sides that mount the heavy stubbers, so by all logic it should be way easier to get out of them than the Stormlord. Also, why is it that on those variants you can only get out from the rear (crawling out the little hatch under the exhaust?) instead of from the two big openings on the sides?

>>
Which shoulder does the Legion's icon go on? I'm seeing it done both ways...
>>
>>51633868
Melta support marines or vets with combi-meltas either need a Rhino or a Drop Pod. If you're doing an Orbital Assault list (or Night Lords Terror Assault list) then you're heavily restricted on tanks, so small squads of special weapon dudes are essential.

If you're running a normal army then you could put them in Dreadclaws, but it would be more normal to just run tanks to fulfill that role. Putting them in a Rhino with a pintle-mounted multimelta is similar and works well.

Footsloggers can work if your legion special rules allow you to infiltrate or outflank, or if you're using Iron Warriors or Death Guard. Their special rules make it more viable, especially because they have shooty Terminators that can defend your rearward firebase from deep strikers (i.e. they're shooty enough to be part of that firebase, but good in close combat too).
>>
>>51633905
Look at model train bridges for trusses you can build a gantry out of. It sounds like you're thinking of a whale-shaped machine more than a blimp, but that's cool too. I'd try to keep the fins as much as possible.
>>
>>51636690
Usually the left shoulder pad (because that's the shoulder presented to the enemy when advancing with your bolter raised) but it could be either really. Not a set-in-stone thing.
>>
>>51636608
Don't know about the Lion, but Sanguinius is pretty bullshit in lore.

Much more so than Leman "Jobber" Russ.
>>
>>51636814
Yeah, that's probably a good call. Fins are staying, for the most part, going to be armoured a bit, at least on the leading edge, and will probably have a Hbolter turret or something on the underside, since that's where the Stormbird guns are.. Tail flukes will be shortened and used to mount engines.

Definitely going to be more a whale than a regular airship, but it does need to look somewhat mad science. Hence the lack of a mouth, dorsal fin, most of the tail flukes and a few other bits, since otherwise it will just look like a whale with a shack or two on it. Was thinking the gantry to be somewhat similar to the one on the Prydwen from Fallout, so that bridge idea is probably a good idea. Would like to build a dock into it for my Cyber-Occularis somewhere, I'll see if I can find a good spot, although I could always have some small platforms coming off the walkway.
