Pretty excited for all Eldar to get re-united under one banner. I've been playing Eldar/DEldar/Harlequins for quite awhile so it'll be nice to hopefully have a little more flexibility in my list construction.

All you have to do is the following:

I ordered some Sentinel bits off of ebay, and I just finished turning all of my old Scout Sentinels into Armored Sentinels as well as magnetizing all 3 of them and 3 Autocannons/Multi-Lasers/Lascannons. Yep this is way back before they got Stormsurges (which didn't help them win the meta). Currently the top dogs are Space Marine super friends deathstars and Eldar. Tau have only gained rank in the end of the 2016 ITC season when Tau rocked some ITC tournaments with no limits where everyone and thier mom brought Ta'unars. And the top two lists were Ta'unar based, but this was not a regular ITC game. Still the Tau wrecked these games so hard its making it look like their otherwise merely above average results are better than they are.

Without the Ta'unar the Tau are a solid B++ army that can with some extreme skill and a little bit of luck crack the top 50 consistently but has trouble getting into the top 15 let alone winning tournaments. The only major wins from 2016 recently were the two non regular ITC tournaments with Ta'unar. So all the Tau haters can go fuck themselves and their mediocre skill. If you don't like the Tau for personal reasons like the aesthetics or lore I don't have a problem with ya. It's the misinformation and bullshit lies 40k/tg cloaks itself in that bothers me.

Anyways, the issue with Fire Warriors is that they're glass cannons that can't really do anything outside of shred troops at 30". The moment they're fired on or, god forbid, assaulted, you can just pick your models off the board by the handful. And while this applies to most other armies, other armies have a transport that isn't expensive trash like the Devilfish.

But really, it's more that they're completely outclassed by other troop choices. Breachers are better at close range and with Devilfish, Crisis Suits are literally troop choices, and most of the Tau might comes from their non-Troop units.

Been away from the game for a while, getting back in with CultMech. Am I missing something or is there literally no reason to take breachers over destroyers?

Destroyers can fling 18 grav shots from a minimum squad, plus phosphor or a flamer. Breachers can plink out some decent haywire or 3 multi-wound shots, neither of which seems better than a boatload of grav.

I guess the breachers have a melee option, but that doesn't really make up the difference to me. Thoughts?

Fire Warriors are great. They're 9 points with a 4+ save and a 30 inch strength 5 gun. A line of Fire warriors can take out a Rhino from the front before it can even shoot at them, and will probably pick off any marines inside before they can get close either.

To get a crisis suit to do the same job, you'd have to give one a Burst cannon, and at that point you could have bought 3 fire warriors.

-They have a very good gun. S6, rending, wounds against I rather than T means they wound on 2+ against most targets.

Two (2!) knight gallants. There was an anon advocating for them pretty hard as part of a War Convo, I tried it and it was glorious. Bear in mind though that it's a 650 point investment so have some way to keep them safe. Just run up to the riptides and give them the D.

It's quite hard to support to be honest, you basically need a pimped out stompa or a blitz brigade to take the heat while you call in your reserves.
Alternately you can take mogroks formation to get them in more reliably

I don't really play Orks, so take this with a grain of salt. The main issues I could see with it compared to footslogging Necrons is a relative lack of killing power. While they are as durable (unless somebody manages to snipe the painboy), they don't put out the same firepower that Warriors or Immortals would. They're going to be forced to try and get into assaults in order to kill stuff, and that's a tricky prospect.

Putting them in a Trukk to charge out of would help, but at that point you've bought a painboy, trukk, and are spending 10 points per boy just to get something that Necron Warriors do by themselves.

Green Tide would help make it more cost effective, but cuts out the possibility of using a trukk.

I feel like overall you'd be better served buying extra boys rather than heavy armor, even with the painboy. After all, an armor save to protect you from some wounds half the time for 4 points isn't quite as good as just getting an extra wound that can stab and shoot people for 6.
