Yes. They're pretty bad and they're pretty much below average/tabletop standard, but people will know you're new and not just retarded.

Yes. You won't be painting amazing models until AT LEAST finishing 30+ shitty ones. A good tabletop average standard is actually quite easy to achieve once you've practiced thinning the paints and painting within the lines on such small models. There's just a lot of people calling clearly very high standard or even display competition level models "tabletop standard" so don't think everyone is a painting god. Just have all your shit within the lines, no chunky paint, washes, highlights, and you'll be well on your way to having a high quality army.

For the guys posting armies.

I wanted to take it slowly but after no time at all I ended up with loads of points of stuff... My friend gave me a spare grey knight so now I have a terminator librarian, that made me go hook 10 tactical terminators off EBay. I also have 10 more tacticals to build and I haven't even tried a game with them yet.

Almost 1000 points and I haven't even factored in the transport I'm going to have to buy.
To be fair this is 4 months of work, got a fresh wind on working on them over Christmas.

I recently got a Hellhound kit.

I want to make a Chem Cannon Bane Wolf, but I'm not sure how good that is. I'd rather have it or the melta cannon one than the normal Hellhound.

Of course, I follow the notion of playing what's cool, but I'm taking into consideration that there's plenty of competitive players in my area so I'd rather have something that can do well if needed out of the kit.

No, the answer is not to get another model, Mechanized Guard doesn't feel right without the Hellhound variants.

All he does for the setting is make it worse. He's poorly written, requiring numerous retcons to make him an actual threat, his end goal fucks up the setting, he makes chaos boring (we already have a faction whose goal is to kill everyone else in the tyranids, and frankly the nids are cooler than edgey marines with spikes and present a more interesting threat), the focus on him dicks over all other chaos players (we could see world eaters occasionally rampaging through systems just for the violence, or word bearers going about on crusades to convert the masses and kill the ultras, or have renegades and space pirate marines but nope, just arachon in space: this time even more boring), and people like ADB's boner for him gives us abysmally bad pieces of fluff like MoM, or him somehow winning in FoC because the plot demanded it.

If there's anything I would use the monkey's paw on, it's removing abby from the setting without Sigmarinizing 40k in the process.

2-3 Chaos Biker units, and 2-3 units of Predators. This is a World Eaters Formation, and the Predators must take Destroyer Blades at no additional cost. The formation gets Move through Cover, all Hammer of Wrath/Destroyer Blade attacks get Shred, the Bikes can counter-charge any unit that charges the Predators, and the Predators may Tank Shock when moving Flat Out.

Basically, the formation is meant to use Predators in a far more aggressive matter, running over the enemy rather than hanging back to dakka/autolas.

Reposting from /wip/ since it's pretty slow.

Can i get some opinions on this? Basically I brought a Leman Russ of some guy as part of an eBay bulk buy, didn't realise until I got it that it was the slightly older version with the older weapons and different turret. It doesn't rustle my jimmies too much but I don't want to field it with my new Russ tanks.

So I was thinking that I was going to make it an Executioner in it's own squad by itself. So I'm thinking I will take out all the old sponson and hull weapons, replace with plasma cannons, which I have. Now the only problem is that the old model has a larger hole size for the turret than the new ones which means the executioner turret won't fit right and will be a pig to get working smoothly. So instead I'm thinking to use this Nova Cannon thing and model it into a plasma turret by chopping out the two bar things and ring around the barrel and wrapping the barrel in a fine snake made of putty and then scoring the fat tip part with a soldering iron and sandpaper to make it look like a plasma weapon. Then putting spaced armour around the turret made of plasticard.

Any thoughts/sugestions? Pic related.

So I'm building my Astra Militarum force for Kill Team: Hearlds of Ruin.

Going to be using some lovely krieger models. I'm putting together list and am curious about the following as it strikes me as a bit vague.

Regimental Tactics:

The units listed in brackets in your Kill Team

gain the following bonuses for the points cost

listed, if no unit is listed, all models gain the

bonuses.

Death Korps of Krieg (2 pts per model)

All Death Korps models gain +1 WS and the

Stubborn special rule.


So just to make sure I'm reading this correctly, if I want to use Regimental tactics I am paying 2 points for every single model in my army, is this accurate? Pushes a 5 man infantry squad from 25 points to 35 which is a bit nutty for +1 WS and Stubborn IMO.

Am I understanding this correctly? Do I have the choice to whom I can apply this to, or am I obligated to add it to every model?

Any help would be appreciated.

Even regular termies aren't really worth it.. The only army that does good with their terminator option is CSM:DG for the fact they get stealth outside of 18" (not reliable for combicide) relentless, rerollable FNP on rolls of 1 and +1T
If you take the Plague Colony as well you can deepstrike your termies while the enemy is suffering from reduction to their initiative and WS but the tax is high with a minimum of 3 plague marine units as well as two more troop choices and HQ to get the benefits of the DG:Vectorium.

Termicide is expendable desu. Honestly I just run 2 basic plasma ones for my Word Bearers, don't bother with Marks. Frees points for more psyker support and stuff.

Terminators are already relentless by default, and Ld 10 is good enough in most cases.

Crusader is useful for edgecase scenarios where you need to run/cap an objective more reliably too.

They're great for dealing with Monstrous Creatures, light-medium vehicles and medium-size infantry units, and in a pinch can put some hurt on Flyers. I use 'em as a fire support unit, something to bolster my back-line units. Had one eat 15/16 boyz in a single round of shooting by itself once, which was fucking glorious.
