Open day BINGO, everyone grab a ticket, some anon proposed that replacing destroyer rad grenades with spheres of annihilation might make their points cost worth it. So does everything have to look all regimented in this, or can we have some variation? I want to have all my Reductor Artillery with slightly different barrels and the Adsecularis with lots of different poses, because they're DarkMech so they can do the "lobotomised horde of cultists" thing.

Also, where's a good place to get servitors? I need some for my Baneblad's Autokrator crew, some to man the artillery and some to work with the Enginseers, and that adds up to about 15.

Starfire Legate: Units in the Warlord's detachment reroll any failed To Hit rolls of 1 when using Plasma weapons
Brilliant Planning: As long as your Warlord is alive and on the battlefield you may add or subtract one from any of your reserve rolls

Here are some for Blood Angels:
The Hell Rider: The Warlord and up to D3 units arriving from reserves by Deep Strike roll a single D6 for scatter. These units must be of either Jump Infantry, Jetbike, Skimmer or Flyer unit type. In addition, if any of these unit types, the Warlord and any unit he joins gain the Skilled Rider special rule.
Echo of Signus: The Warlord gains the Fear and Hatred special rules.
The Shadow of the Angel: For the duration of any challenge he is in, the Warlord gains the Feel No Pain(5+) and Eternal Warrior special rules.

Progress on diorama. Honestly in a bit over my head to be honest. The iron guy up front is going to be an Iron Hand ( I'm going to wash him 3 times in black, to differentiate him from the black of the Dark Angel, Raven Guard, and Katulan Reaver).

also the Imperial fist is all fucked up. I'm going to strip him and redo him.
>>
>>51219403
Give the whole model a really thinned down agrax wash (assuming the agrax will stick to it). It'll dull down the recesses at least.

Wouldn't be too busy as you'll have 2 main colours, a weapon spot colour and black which doesn't overly draw the eye. Should be fine, but if you're unsure just do one and see if you like it.

Drakeslayer: One of the Warlord's weapons gains +1Str. For Combi-weapons, both parts are affected.
Disciple of the Promethean Creed: The warlord gains IWND, in addition every unit within 6" (including the warlord's own) gains the Stubborn rule.
Unyielding Spirit: The warlord gains the Fearless special rule, in addition each unit within 6" of the warlord add +1 to their Ld.
Into the Fires of Battle: The Warlord has Furious Charge, his unit gains Hammer of Wrath. If they already had the rule, they inflict D3 HoW hits instead.
Unto the Anvil of War: The Warlord gains Stubborn, he and the unit he's attached to gains Counter Attack
Lord of Cinders: Designate D3 Infantry squads. Their Flamer-type weapons reroll To-Wound rolls of one.

-Chosen by Fenris: Accompanied by two Fenrisian wolves that do not take up transport space. All wounds suffered are first allocated to the wolves.
-Hot Blooded: Gains Hatred and Rage.

Here's 2500 points of Iron Hands I came up with, please comment and give me your advice on potential modification.

HQ:
Legion Centurion
Forge Lord, Cataphractii Armour, Cyber Familiar, Rad Grenades
145

Elite:
Gorgon Terminators
4 Power Fists, Cyber Familiar for the Hammer Bearer
230

Troops:
Legion Breacher Siege Squad
2 Graviton Guns, Legion Vexilla, Artificer Armour and Power Weapon for sgt.
265

Legion Breacher Siege Squad
2 Graviton Guns, Legion Vexilla, Artificer Armour and Power Weapon for sgt.
265

Heavy Support:
Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought
Atomantic Pavaise, Blessed Autosimulacra
235

Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought
Atomantic Pavaise, Blessed Autosimulacra
235

Leviathan Siege Dreadnought Talon
2x Leviathan with Grav Flux Bombard, Leviathan Siege Claw, 2 Volkite Calivers, Armoured Ceramite and Phosphex Discharger
670

Lord of War:
Ferrus Manus
455

Rite of War:
Head of the Gorgon

Tactics: Ferrus and the Forge Lord go with the Gorgons and push forwards with the Deredeos providing them and the Leviathans with better invulnerable saves,
Breachers secure objectives, screwing with enemy movement through graviton guns and the Leviathan and Deredeo Deathstar pushes into the hardest part
of enemy forces, being repaired by Ferrus and the Forge Lord, and if that fails then they have a 6+ hull point regeneration from free Blessed Autosimulacra and
IWND from Ferrus Manus.

Very much a fan of the dread death star, it's a cool idea. And the free Blessed Auto. can be very good if your opponent doesn't outright kill your vehicles. Foot slogging Ferrus and termies would be not recommended because of the Ld checks to run, which failing one could put you in a bad position. Dealing with armour at range might be hard if Deredos get killed, but they end up being tough, so just keep them safe.

So there's a massive twat in my local GW, which is where most people play due to it being normally cool and no other FLGS, who also happens to be the kid of the manager. He plays Ultramarines.

Everyone is a bit sick of him bringing a shitload of new shiny stuff to every game just sprayed and generally being a cunt to everyone trying to play.

My friend just started a DG force and I want some Reductor.
How do Ultramarines work and how can we beat him around the ears until he sees reason?

We have DG, WE, IH, EC and soon my Reductor available, but he does have way more toys than us. Warhound titan, about 25 Suzies, Spartan, Primarch. The Works.

War is loud and bodies are cold, I've been ordered around
Since I was born
And now they're all dead, it's okay
And you may look the other way
We can try to understand
The poison's effect on a man

Whether you're a brother or whether you're the other
You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Feel the walls breakin' and everybody shakin'
And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive

Mechanicum of 30k doesn't reaully use human-based servitors that often. Their servo-automata are based off squids. Your best bet is a few packs of the Macrotek + Servo-Automata, because that matches the aesthetic of the servitors on the Macrocarid, Ordinatus, Krios, etc.
>>
>>51221434
Reductor. Use Reductor Artillery Medusas to remove the Spartan, as they always hit side armour with barrage. Then nuke the Suzys with Grav Imploder Myrmidon Destructors. Never play 3000, then you won't need to worry about the Warhound. Bring Thallax to charge tacticals with rage and rending as they are compulsory, and basically spam myrmidons with Photon Thrusters or Grav Imploders as well as Artillery. Bring Myrmidon Secutors with Graviton Guns if he has some shit like a Leviathan.

I run several LRs in my army, Ferrus can fit with a 3 man command termie squad and a artificer Forgelord if you'd like. Don't forget the options for Domitars and Arlatax automata. They can walk outside a transport with the FL still in cortex range

A wing of Vultarax can also help. They're point and click vehicle destruction, and can mess with whatever's in transports fairly easily.
>>

Land Raiders are very expensive though, I'd have to replace the breachers with tacticals and thus lose a lot of flavour of the list, including the ability to buff their invulnerable with Deredeos if necessary. May use Domitars though.

Right. I think I'll have one of those for the actual Enginseer's Servitors, and do the Artillery and Baneblade crew with attendant techpriests. Makes little sense to crew a war machine that valuable with mindless drones anyway, even if they are rather better in 30k.

The only problem is running Ferrus and guys meant to be in combat up the board without a transport is wasteful. He'll take forever or just get ignored. Well, that's pretty much in line with what I was going to do anyway. Are Ferrox Thallax that good? I was looking at Destructor/Photon Thruster, but I guess that means they can bully support squads and the like.

I doubt there's anything that needs specific haywire squads to deal with, honestly. Guilliman is going to be there pretty much always, though.

Myrmidons are probably going to show up once I have the basics of the army down. Would Thralls do OK tarpitting the suzies or will they just hack through them?

>>51221589

A whole wing of cutedrones would be a bit beyond my means at the moment. Also, it's Reductor, so I suspect I'd struggle to keep control of them.
Would a Lightning or two be any good? Seems like if I buff the missiles with a Magos Reductor they could put some serious hurt on anything with an AV.

But that means that Ferrus and escort are at least 18'' closer to the enemy when you have the first turn, and that your opponent has to dedicate some anti-tank shooting to it.
When you footslog all anti-vehicle weapons can focus down the other important stuff with ease, and Ferrus and pals will just get ignored, untill they're getting too close. Then all available firepower can just gun them down after having dealt with the other stuff.

That's the general plan, but I'm not so arrogant to think my artillery will manage to deal with all of them before they hit melee range. Dealing with the Spartan deathstar will be tricky, but hopefully I can get Lightning side armour on it or do some damage with artillery. Hopefully the Thrall screens will hold him up while I reposition. He does have a Basilisk IIRC, but I feel that won't be quite enough to counterfire me.

> Lorgar dragged himself to his feet, his armor a shattered wreck, Illuminarum hanging limp in his fingers. Scraps of ceramite, blackened and twisted, clattered onto the bloodstained street, settling amongst the bodies of the slain. The battle still raged on around him, but Lorgar had no more energy to give his men the respite they needed as Thirteenth Legion guns whittled down their defenses. Nothing mattered; not the strongpoints overrun by Guilliman's armor, nor the blessed sons, armored in holy crimson, dying at his feet. Only one sight truly meant something to him, and as Guilliman's Legion dragged away their primarch’s body, lapis-blue armor leaking blood, Lorgar said farewell to his brother's pure and loyal soul.

> It was a fight that would echo across the Five Hundred Worlds, and be remembered even 10,000 years later by those bitter sons who fought the Long War. The Seventeenth Legion began their assault after a night of preparation, looking to hold their section of the line so that the rest of their forces could land in full. Two tactical squads of the ravaged Unspeaking Chapter stood alongside the Gal Vorbak and a unit of Ashen Circle, further bolstered by a Spartan Assault Tank and Contemptor-Mortis, Ancient Khalafax. Five heavy flamers provided fire support, deploying alongside the Ancient as he settled into a crater.

> The Ultramarines were racing to the same objectives, seeking to close in on the freshly-landed Word Bearers vanguard. Land Raiders, Rhinos, and a Deredeo clawed their way through the city, while Fulmentarus Terminators trekked along behind. For them, the fight held much more at stake; it was vengeance, coloured by the fury of a Legion scorned.

>The second tactical squad moved into the nearby building, smashing out windowpanes and taking aim across the city, overlooking the first and second objective buildings. Ancient Khalafax revved up his guns, and though his auguries could sense the Thirteenth nearby, he had nothing to shoot at.

>The Ultramarines were the first to begin firing; an irony that many of the Word Bearers didn't fail to see. Every legionary heard the crash and tumble of masonry as one of the Rhinos smashed its way through an abandoned hab block, dozer blade trailing dust. The second Rhino clawed its way into the third objective, uncontested as it was. Ultramarines unloaded into the objective, taking aim at the glimmers of red across the square.

>The Deredeo braced, autocannons grinding on joints with the slow inevitability of death. It fired across the city, three shots smashing into Ancient Khalafax's revered shell. One of the Contemptor's autocannons crumpled, disabled for the foreseeable future, while the other shot staggered the Contemptor. Blood and amniotic fluid leaked out, staining the Colchisian runes acid-etched into his armour. The Ancient laboured to bring himself back up to the defense, but one more hit would see his life ended in the fires of heretical war.

>The Fulmentarus also fired their missiles, splashing them harmlessly across the Spartan's side armor. The Word Bearers tactical squad paused as they seized the building. Something was coming.

>The building shook as the Land Raider burst in, assault ramp smashing down and pulverizing the bones of the people who had once lived here. Its heavy bolter fired, marking the first casualty of the fight as a Word Bearer was smashed from his feet, gored by the shot. The Ultramarines tactical squad from the crater also opened fire, picking off three more of the Seventeenth in a storm of shots. Unseen by the Word Bearers, the Ultramarines had also reached the first objective building farthest from the crater. They too, opened fire, and another two sons collapsed to the ground.

>That was far from the end. Even as the squad weathered fire from three different sources, something far worse was coming. .

>The Invictarus Suzerains beside him raised their legatine axes, boarding shields raised as Kuhr screamed the order to fire. Bolters rang out, rapid firing in quick succession, and did nothing but scratch the armor of the Thirteenth's best. I do agree on the Custodus getting their own type of vehicles rather than just grav-rhinos (though I do hope the SoS still get those)
Mainly because it makes more sense when you think about it for a moment. Custodes are bigger than marines. Rhino's can't even fit Terminators inside, so how was that ever suppose to work ? And besides, Custodes as their own army also wasn't really a fully developed concept, you only see Custodes, termistodus, dread-stodus and a grav-rhino in the artwork.

>>51223765
I'm mostly talking about things like the Leviathan, Typhon siege tank, and spartan, which are just already excisting things in marine armies but then the bigger version of those and nothing more. It just seems a bit lazy.

DG does the least comfy jobs. There's a lore specific reason why the legion has immunity to fear. They're the definition of get shit jobs done alongside IW.

My favorite piece of ''legion's finest hour'' lore is DG's. It's about a non compliant world being conquered by Morty and friends while both sides are trying to out-grimdark each other. The world's drugged soldiers lose their minds despite everything pumped into their systems because they see Mortarion as the grim reaper himself.

RIGHT?!
But maybe it's because muh Terran stuff, even though most of their best gear is reverse-engineered knife-ear tech.
>>
>>51224140
Well terminators also aren't that much bigger than marines. And a schoolbus has more thought about comfort for the passengers in its design than an APC. To disembark from the tank that inspired the Rhino for example you almost have to crouch, depending on your hight.

Don't disagree at all that it is mostly to increase profits though. But an rhino upgrade kit would have been easier to design and produce, and if you look at the Deimos rhino pattern likely very profitable too.
>>
>>51224225
>using bolters and not volkites?

There is a difference between bolters and bolters. Stormbolters are assault 2 and AP 5, but Kantor's Stormbolter of awesome ork slaying is assault 4 AP 4. Add in different ammunition types and I can totally see why Custodes would have bolters.

But ofcourse the bolters Custodes got in the rules are complete, utter and total hot garbage.
>>
>>51224315
Maybe a hover rhino is still a possibility and these are just the shiny new hotness FW has to get out of their system before the slog of making all the boring old crap continues? I mean, hover rhinos weren't mean the be just Custodes vehicles, they were meant to be the universal webway transport for everyone. So it doesn't make sense for non-Custodes using the shiny Custodes APC.
>>

That makes Custodes about 2-5" taller.

Not saying they're shit.
We're just saying volkites are better, especially for an infantry unit whose weapons they'd only use right before the charge, since their main weapons are conditional-AP2 spears, rather than an SGM as regular marines have.

Volkite chargers are stronger and may make the enemy become a fire hazard to their teammates, not to mention ammo cells are easier to carry than huge bolt magazines...but they have a very noticeable flaw:

They go CHOOM rather than DAKKA :^)
>>
>>51224566
It's not a meme if it's the fluff. Volkites used to be very common in the legions and possessed much greater power than many other weapons of similar size. The bolter's benefits were utilitarian. You don't equip your elite of the elite with utilitarian weapons, you give them the best.

>meaning they emperor's guardians aren't reliant on the tech-priests for their stuff.

Why must everything be on Mars? Why can't they put an imperial factory or stuff? Man it with techpriests, whatever, but keep in on Terran soil and separated from Mars.
Hell, even the Raven Guard (whom haven't claimed this thread by the way) have their own Duckship and their techies are free from Mars, comfy doing their borderline tech-heresy protected by the smallest of all legions.

But I think that's too much to ask from the Emperor's totally-not-mistakes.

Idk it's not very fluffy to do that. An armoured spearhead might be more fitting but I'm not trying to bankrupt myself buying tanks.

You mean, why must massive manufacturing projects be given to the planet known for being one massive factory with all the scientific knowledge of humanity? I dunno, shitty trade deals?

Earth does have production. The fluff for the Custodes grav-tank mentions that the custom bolt shells for the nose cannon are made on Terra. And MkVII suits were designed (or at least finalized) and made on Terra. I assume MkVI suits were as well, once all the machinery was evacuated from Mars at the onset of the Heresy.

Well two birds one stone with this haha.

I think all my third-party bits come from Anvil Industries. Got loads of cybernetic arms and legs and that mostly so I could get the most out of my Mark III kits. Ditto with the shoulder pads.

I wanted them like, in the thick of it, marching for days, first through the breach kind of dudes. The Ironest Warriorest Iron Warriors. So they're all riddled with robot limbs from being thrown at walls, picked up, pieced back together and thrown again.

Used a lot of the old Iron Warriors upgrade set that GW sells. Finecast kit so it's a pain in the arse to do, but I love all the horns and the deadlier look that the helmets have. Comes with torsos too but they're a pain in the arse. You can see them on the sergeant in the squad. They're ancient so they're a couple of millimeters smaller so I had to scale them up. Not much of a sculptor but I can kitbash like a mufucker so I just sanded down round bit on the legs, stuck a bit of plastic card down to up the height and glued it together. At this point there's a big ass gap so I just cover it in pouches, pistols, gear and that. Beefs them out a lot too and adds loads of detail.

There's a Mark IV helmet in there I had to do some sculpting on. There's a Mark V/VII horned helmet on the Iron Warriors sprue, so I cut that down and did some sculpting to make it Mark IV. Not too difficult to do but the results aren't fantastic. Pic related has my second one in it.

The picture is from the next squad. Got them all assembled, just finishing off their bases before I hit them with the primer tomorrow.

Bigger and spergier post than the last one.

I was wondering myself. Looked around quite a bit to see if it was lore-friendly to have Heresy IW with horns but I couldn't find anything stating either way so I just went for it.

Reckon it's from 40K Chaos, some of them having horns to be like barbarian raiders (or like fantasy dudes), but it didn't seem that out of place in 30K so I went for it.
>>
>>51225754
I'm sure there are some outliers among the legion who fell faster than their brothers. And by late heresy most legions are full chaos.
>>
>>51225754
IW tended to be quite uniform and streamlined, not fond of unnecessary junk.

The 40k IW heads do look cool though, especially since they're less gaudy than some of the other CSM ones. I used a few of them here and there in the past.

I just got my first Mechanicum models today! I've got a question though.

Castellax wrist weapons - Is it worth magnetizing them or should I just go for the weapons that makes the most sense in relation to the primary weapon?

I'm thinking bolters for Darkfire, flamers for multi-melta (lol>melta), and either or one of each for mauler bolters.

Or one of each for all?

I'm fluffing it as a fad that started among the Legion that caught on during the heresy and then just stuck around afterwards. If there's no real origin for Chaos horns so I might as well come up with my own one.

>>51225961

I can see that, kept most of their stuff pretty utilitarian. The horns I reckon are just an emerging part of Company culture.

Has there ever been a color scheme discrepancy or retcon when going from BL books to FW books?

I want to paint my Knight to be in the colors of pre-heresy House Devine for fluff reasons, but the only reference to their color I've found is one vague sentence in a BL short story. If FW ever mention them again, would they adhere to this or make up their own color scheme as they see fit?

Also, do you guys think FW will elaborate on the Battle of Molech in a future book?

>Would you like to hear the tale of how the beakies tabled a Dark Eldar army turn 1
Not really, sounds like a typical game against Dark Eldar with any army.
>>
>>51226541
It's even more disappointing than that.

The game was 1850, so the Beakies were at a disadvantage. The army compositions favoured the xenos scum heavily as the beakies couldn't mobilize their heavy weapons as effectively at low points comparatively.

Dark Eldar went first and deployed only two things: A cullexus and vindicare assassin. This gave the beakie commander basically the entire board to infiltrate. They surrounded the assassins and seized the initiative. The beakies moved in and gunned both of them down. Dark Eldar finished their turn with nothing on the board and were tabled immediately. For IF breachers, would you advice on Grav or on volkite, if they are gonna be holding objectives.

Someone tried to dox me, they were on the discord, and after I told them who I was, I shared the edited conversation.
Banned by that person from the discord for 'doxing' when I shared a picture that had no personal information, only his poor attempt at bait.

I would like to put it in the past and get back on the discord.
