I am the hero of the kineticist, and I do have more gunslinger stuff on the way. And really, the only thanks I require is for people to post punch girls. There will also be a punch girl iconic in Spheres of Might, because it's literally the only artistic request I had for the entire book.

Player race ideas I'd like to flesh out:

-A hybrid of the oread and merfolk. Nothing powerful, just a standard aquatic player race with an "earthy" feel to it.
-Pic related as a sort of Neanderthal-evolution. Geared toward fighting megafauna and leaping about mountaintops.
-Mulch men with limited regeneration on dirt but a limited grasp of tools and an even weaker grasp of civilization.

Help me build a work with Fear, friends.

I have a Cleric who has Evil>Fear and Madness>Nightmare domains, he's Neutral and channels positive. (He is unwillingly bound to a god and fights against him constantly, but the god loving torment continues to infuse his his spells with fear effects, I have it set up with the DM that people I help in good heart will continue to have nightmares for days or weeks after being healed)

I've never bothered to specialize in such a specific thing before, what are good ways to help me get the most bang out of Fear? Paizo only.

It's designed to be comparable to Druid. Druid is T1. Summoner (and Synthesist Summoner) are T2.
Fighter is T5. Synthesist fights slightly better than the fighter, while still casting as well as a bard.

Whether or not it's OP depends on what your party composition is, because there's so little balance in PF to begin with.

Synthesist is a great martial addition to a Druid/Cleric/Wizard party, for instance.

It's no more OP than Druid, Cleric, Wizard, Sorcerer, Arcanist, Baseline Summoner, Oracle, etc, it's comparable (but on the weak end) with all the full casters.

No, there won't be. The betrothed is built around the idea of actually being a sidegrade, and we're balancing very carefully with that—if you look through the class, you'll see several hard nerfs to both you and the companions' performance, compared to a non-betrothed avowed. This is so that, overall, you'll be at around the same power level and there isn't really an issue. There's no fluff reason to bake in such a restriction, and as far as I can tell, no mechanical reason either.

This, so many times. It's goddamn magic, it should be doing something COOL. Boosting numbers or enabling you to function is not cool, it is bullshit. If I were writing the rules from scratch, I'd work up a system where you can add or move or remove enchantments easily, but you're down to maybe four items with a maximum capacity for enchantment. Scrolls and single use items would be harder to work, wands and staves can die in a fire, and utility shit would be much cheaper.

I think it's probably one of the worst written archetypes ever. The amount of word count that used to literally make the class worse in such an obvious fashion infuriates me. There's traps, things that are not obvious, and then there's DBC, which is out and out a worse choice that hinders the class from taking other archetypes.

Designer moment here, I know why there's a lot of alchemist archetypes; it's because the alchemist has so many superfluous features (poison stuff, swift alchemy, etc) that you can swap them out impossibly easily. It's probably the most archetype friendly class in the entire game, and this is why you see it being used again and again; because it's easy. Rarely do these really build on what makes the class good, like the beastmorph or the grenadier; they just swap out things to class hack it to pieces.

I'm building my own version of the DBC in the dragon book because the concept is so cool, and I HAD to make it my own.

People have wanted me to take a swing at the alchemist for a while, and I'll tell you all the same thing I've always said; I can't.

This isn't to say I don't have the talent or I don't like the class; I love it to death. But there is so much debris in the water of the alchemist's design space that I can't make things for it without bumping into it. With how over saturated it is in Paizo, there's not a great market for it either. I just can't validate spending time on it, especially considering my project load and all of these mitigating factors.

It's just that those items are so necessary that NOT having the right ones for your class at certain points in the game becomes crippling. If ABP let you pick which things you wanted at certain points, with a hard cap on how much you could buy into things at certain levels, it might be a better alternative.

I use an level-dependent innate WBL-points system for the "essentials" and all items are of the interesting variety instead.

If you have an innate +4 WE, and you pick up a shocking weapon, you can trade +1 WE 1 for 1. As such, those kinds of items scale with your character.

But then, I also run T1-3 campaigns and run all my pathfinder settings in the way you guys dubbed "Man's Life" (And PCs never start below level 4, level 6 most of the time is "low level"), and give out xp like it's shadowrun (among other weird houserules, like running custom built races to whatever setting I'm running; and my personal setting has immortal outsiders, undead, fey, and dragons as the heads of most institutions (occasional immortal wizards and demigods as well) and tons of halfbreeds and dragon/fey/planetouched running around; a hobgoblin empire (with integrated outsiders/dragons/fey) that's like imperial china mixed with Rome, and hobgoblin culture draws from, those as well as Andromeda's Nietzcheans. There are no gods, only mythic creatures who grant spells. The core races are minorities.

So, uh... "Typical D&D" isn't really what I run.

I should update my various campaign notes and bring the guys together again for a new game.

There are other alternatives to IBP. My premise would be better if I was invested enough to spell it out as a detailed system beyond determining what the point allotment is and then having people buy enhancements based on the gold value of enhancements in items, which they must reverse engineer themselves, but it just isn't worth the focus to me, I'd rather spend that time on other projects.
