- Omnissiah's Grace (10 pts): Bearer gets 6++. If already had one, increase by +1 up to 3++

- Saint Curia's Autpurger (25 pts): Charging enemies don't get bonus attacks for charging. Models locked in combat with bearer must pass Toughness test at I10 or take 1 wound for every fail (saves allowed as normal)

In light of the new models and formations, I was wondering, how do you or your group draw the line between cheese and non-cheese? Is it a famously broken unit like a Baronial Court or three Riptides? Is a deathstar cheese, or just one with 2+, 2++? Is a list with one unit of grav or bikes automatically cheese? Or is the term just meaningless because people on a Taiwanese cat collection forum call everything they lost to cheese to salve their wounds?

The Arquebus is "okay" but it's really a high-risk high-reward outing. You're paying ten points more than an Arc Rifle for one shot which averages out to an 11 against vehicles. On a good day you get 16 (phenomenal/10, 6 to hit for chance to explode is fantastic) but mostly it's just meh. Arc Rifle is always dependable, always ready. And cheap.

Rangers don't deserve near as much hate as they get, S4 AP4 is really good, especially when fighting gunline Tau/Guard or anything short of Marines. Even helps curb Necron bullshit a good amount of the time. I always grab a couple squads, they're good objective holders (better now since they can get Obsec) and can mow down medium-strength infantry.

Don't be too hung-ho with the Plasma, by the way. It's 190 points for 3- at cheapest- and your guys can die really, really fast. If I take it, it's on a preferred enemy warlord squad and that's it. Anywhere else is too risky to work, just take allies (cultmech) for mass AP2

Vanguard are great against MCs, but regular guys short of a 3+ are prime targets for rangers. So take a mix, looks better and does better

Should I build/equip my Sicarians as Infiltrators or Ruststalkers?

I see; I heard that a good tactic was to take a 5 man ranger squad, and give them two Arquebuses, but I wasn't quite sure which would be better. How would you recommend running the Arc Rifles than? With 3 Rifles in a 10 man squad? And with Vanguard or Rangers?

Captain Garadon and the battered remains of the Imperial Fist 3rd Company (barely a score left, and only a single sergeant from the 1st Company contingent) are mentioned as escaping on the Phalanx. Orven Highfell dies at the hands of a Bloodthirster, surrounded by his fallen Wulfen Ironewolves brothers in the catacombs as Abaddon duels Celestine. Master Koharael and the Dark Angels 4th Company are last mentioned as still being on the surface )while Abaddon pushes underground), along with the Crimson Fists 5th Company, about to sell their lives dearly as the Crimson Slaughter overrun them. Sven Bloodhowl and the Firehowlers are presumably lost as the Will of Eternity is destroyed, their suicide mission to sabotage the Blackstone Fortress allowing the Phalanx the opening to take it out. Baroness Vardus of House Raven is killed making a heroic last stand against the Traitor-Engines of Legio Vulcanum, taking out a Reaver as her last act.

For me, Arc Rifles are perfect with Vanguard. Put one in a squad of 5 for a cheap (70 pts.), mobile basic squad that can crap on any and all vehicles, while the squad can also deal with MCs or TEQs by means of flooding wounds.

Basically it comes down to dealing with Taushit/Wraiths. You can flood 2+/3+ with relative ease, machines are laughable when a couple squads of your troops can take away almost any vehicle in one turn, 4+ or less dies to Rangers.

The only real trouble is 2+ save high toughness MCs, as they're hard as fuck to take down. imo that's what Cultmech is good for, and since Kataphron modes are fantastic I don't see the harm in grabbing a couple squads and filling out your ranks. But to each his own, I guess

I really wish there were new BT specific characters in this, because every formation basically invalidates the characters you have in the standard codex. Everyone can get hatred, and even zealot under the right conditions, so Helbrecht is no longer needed for a Crusade of Wrath (ironic that the Wrathful Crusade formation is what invalidates him and Grimaldus). Emperor's champion really doesn't benefit from anything in this, but he can still be put with a large crusader squad and basically do the work of a chaplain and beatstick if you don't max out the list for Fearless. However, the relics on the captain needed for a Wrathful Crusade can make him a pseudochampion with the benefit of not needing to issue challenges. He can just sling that delicious S6 AP2 that the Champ was made for, but in higher volume, just without ID on 6s to wound.

Wrathful Crusade doesn't seem as good as Castellans of the Imperium, unless you're going for zealot on everyone as cheaply as possible. the chance for max strength crusaders or land raider crusaders to come back seems way more useful, plus you can pick which HQs you want in the event you wanted grimaldus or Emp's Champ instead of Greyfax. A bit more fluffy friendly since you don't have to take a psyker and can mass up on crusaders.

It's a bit disappointing that there was no Black Templar specific relics, or formations to bring us up to Angels of Death levels, but the formations in FoC aren't so bad. I just wish the Crusade formation didn't require Tempestus. That's such and odd tax to add.

Be'lakor has decided to trump Abaddon and launch an attack directly at Terra - no stuffing around at Cadia for him. With the help of the Iron Warriors Warsmith Shon'tu, he creates a warp rift right in the middle of the Phalanx, with the intent to board and capture it and turn it against Terra. On board are... not much. Most of the Imperial Fists are elsewhere. All that remains to repel the chaos forces are the newly reconstituted 3rd Company, led by Captain Tor Garadon (ironically stationed there because they are inexperienced) and 30 odd marines from the 1st Company. They are massively outnumbered by the combined Demon and Iron Warrior assault, are getting overrun and are losing control of the Phalanx to machine viruses from the Iron Warriors. In desperation, Garadon turns the guns of the Phalanx on itself in order to 'cut away the disease like a chirurgeon'. It costs the Phalanx a full 10th of its mass, but it stops the machine virus from taking hold and also takes out most of the Iron Warriors. As soon as control is back, Garadon orders a blind jump into the Warp in order to remove the potential for the Phalanx to be turned against Terra. Be'lakor is kinda pissed his plan has basically failed, but since they are now in the warp all his Demon forces are powered up and at least they can destroy the Phalanx. So he gets cocky and throws his Demons carelessly into the fray, victory is inevitable. At least it was inevitable until the Legion of the Damned turn up to kick his arse. Better luck next time Be'lakor! Curiously, the Legion of the Damned have stuck around though, and Garadon has no idea why. He makes to return to Mars for urgent repairs, however a distress call is picked up - Cadia is real trouble. Garadon decides that the defence of Cadia is the most important, so he turns around and makes for Cadia.

I like it, but here is how I would change a part of it.

I don't think Cotease is worth it when he's not part of a larger unit. It would basically mean only like 2 meltas/2 plasmas could shoot at dropping units.

I would drop the CCS and a Vet squad for a Platoon, since you already have your 2 HQ choices with the Tank Commander and Cotease.

That frees up quite a few points. You can give the Platoon Command Squad a Chimera too, you can also make a 20-40 man blob of Guardsmen with heavy weapons for Cotease to shoot with if anything drops near him, and you can get a Special Weapons Squad to ride in the Valkyrie.

That can also means you have a lot more respawning units.

If that's not a chage you're down for, I would try to free up some points to turn the Valkyrie into a Vendetta.

All previous Black Crusades were at least in part about destroying ancient necron pylon networks scattered around the galaxy. This may explain why daemons have been showing up more recently. The pylons on Cadia seem to be the last.
The AdMech special character is totally OK with eldar showing up to give him advice and later makes some kind of deal with the necron, but it isn't revealed exactly what.
Cadia falls, oddly enough.
One of the blackstone fortresses is wrecked in the process. Possibly the last one.
Daemons manage to invade the Phalanx while it's in orbit around Terra and infect it with the obliterator virus. Imp Fists beat the daemons with a little help from the Legion of the Damned and cut off the infected parts.
Even after being seriously damaged the Phalanx can still beat the entire chaos fleet and managed to destroy the BF with a little help from a SW boarding party.
Abaddon is wounded by Celestine but escapes.
Sgt. Kell and Creed both die.
All the new characters fail to escape from the system before Abaddon catches up to them. They land on an outer planet, taking some mysterious artefact with them.
Abaddon's forces try to catch them, but they are saved by a bunch of Eldar, including Eldrad.
They escape into the webway, which is that image with a mysterious unknown figure in that was being posted a lot. That's the end of the book. The unknown guy seems to be an eldar special character of some kind; a model which looks like the artwork is just barely visible in one of the photos at the back of the book.

Oh, I get it. The Cult Mechanicus tidbit in their timeline refers to the bargain struck between the AdMech and the Dark Eldar, and it looks like this is where that'd heading. Cawl is going to be bargaining something with the Dark Eldar, and it's apparently going to bring about the Harlequin's greatest jest.

Given the DE fluff is filled with references to the bath plug they put into the bottom of Commorragh being hammered on by warp entities from the other wise, it's possible Celestine is going to either somehow close it, or launch a counter-crusade into the warp itself with the Black Templars. Gangs of Commorragh even takes place between Dark Eldar factions fighting over what they're going to do with the webway bath plug. Story points converge.

Meanwhile the Skitarii are just fucking converging in the billions following a lead on the Omnicopia to try and fix the Golden Throne, awaken mankind's psychic dawn, or bring about the Emperor reborn. Expect to see other major storylines converge on that point, possibly tangentially. If it works out like the Cult Mechanicus one is, it'll turn into a story of finding that lead and the subsequent crusade.

Okay so this guy was throwing mad shit out about the Guard and Cadia and I was sick of it. So I challenged him to a game to prove that asshole wrong. I ended up stealing the initiative from him and went turn one. I brought all six of my Leman Russes so I immediately threw some pieplates out and killed a few Marines. Weren't the eldar always mostly friends? It was one of my favourite things about the DE, that they aren't the sworn enemies of the goody space elves, just another group of them that does things a bit differently. Much better than the cliche evil version that is the sworn enemy of the normal version.

My turn two. Melta vets outflanked killed some tactical Marines. Then Vanquisher took a Dreadnought down to one hullpoint. Wyvern caused 20 wounds on a Marine squad and mulched them. On his turn 2 he moved all of his shit up. And Dante arrived from deep strike just in time to watch the assaults start as he charged everything he could into my gunline.

Priest used the Emperor Protects so I was able to reroll all of my invulns which helped against all of the attacks. His Assault Marines killed only a couple Guardsmen even though he had his Sergeant equipped with two powerfists. And the Dreadnoughts were able only to deal a pretty minor chunk of damage as well. And my Commissar managed to blow up his Contempter with a melta bomb so fun was had.
If I batrep this again tomorrow I'll resize anons. I just got done with the game so really haven't had time to.
