I have enjoyed Spheres a lot more than Vancian but I've heard very good things about Psionics, and honestly I feel like that's an apples/oranges comparison.

Someone who knows more than me about psionics, would you say that's accurate? I sadly never got to try psionics stuff; my group has embraced spheres over vancian and never looked back, but haven't yet experimented with PoW or Psionics.

The EX turbo is not recommended for "regular pathfinder". Basically it's a powerful attacker who can save their spells for nova rounds (pun intended) and buffs/utilities, but can function with their fundamentals the rest of the time.

The non-turbo version is designed for the typical lower level of optimization and could probably fit into an AP without shattering it over its knee (but these are the same things that need to lock out crane wing monks), but for the optimization floor of spheres, PoW and the newer psionics, it's actually quite average.

No real point to the offensive fundamentals at all in the non-turbo version to be honest. They're like crossbows on wizards. something the PF forums tell you is well done.

Actually allowing half-initiators is the house rule, not banning full. The "base assumption" is Paizo content.

That being said it isn't really a bad thing in either direction. I personally argue that there are poor aspects to DSP's design of full initiators and how they overall interact with the game. They are by no means perfect and on a while DSP does not have a fantastic batting average.

Must like Paizo themselves there is good and bad. Only people who just want to shitpost claim either all paizo or all DSP is good or bad. Htis a mixed bag on either end.

The crux on my reasoning for disliking aspects of DSP is not actually related to offense, but to their defense. As well as a big issue bringing lots to the game in a combat sense, but falling off in non combat, and how that is not a good precedent in design.

I would disagree. People fervently deny "I am not shitflinging", but generally a lot of shitflinging occurs in these discussions, and has. However that is just an aspect of 4chan and exists to a degree in any discussion, and /pfg/ is one of the less civil generals on /tg/, so it is to be expected.

I would see them as being perhaps not fascist empire builders as their surface dwelling counterparts. Perhaps something similar, but twisted by the dark. Empires are more difficult to construct in the underdark due to the difficulty of travel and increased danger. How does one counter this?

Perhaps in Siege Cities. Instead of moving as an army either establishing city states and interconnected confederacies, or instead have the "flocks" of underground hobgoblins be vast moving cities rather than armies. The group defending itself due to size.

Tent/caravan cities in the underdark may be interesting.

Though as well hobgoblins are only inherently lawful, but turn evil due to their culture. Perhaps instead connect them in another matter so their society leans lawful good.

Vast moving pockets of lawful good through the underdark could be interesting.

Essentially what I'm going to play them as is very similar to the village from the first HTTYD with a meathead dad for a chief who does things only by how they've done them for generations as their rule of law. They're guarded by a huge clockwork version of Bahamut that's been shut down and had its magical power supply either traded away, stolen, or simply lost to time and now sits near the tribe, immobile.

The general spin the tribe lives by leans more towards being strong ol' boys and girls, obviously there's variation in the mix but most of them prefer activities that show off feats of strength or toughness. They also have an initiation ceremony for those who've come of age where they send a group of them off on an adventure, telling them to only come back when they've got an insane story to tell.

hey /pfg/, I've moved back to my hometown, and my old group wants me back as DM, and I feel like starting PF with them.
I'm looking for easy (for me/slightly for them) adventure paths I can run with them for the holidays, particularly ones that start at /not/ first-second level and the RDS that that involves.

So far we've played 3.X, SR, and a couple meme systems (they apparently tried GURPS in my absence, the idiots. I'm the one who actually memorizes things) if that helps.
I'm also kind of asking what third party content a smart GM should include. I'm not really looking for Spheres of power or PoW (I'll eventually do it, just not my first campaign back), but any other suggestions would be fine, and any suggestions on what to turn down if a group member brings it up would be doubly good.

People who make game breaking characters for the sole purpose of game breaking are trying to kill campaigns and make the DM rip their hair out. In my personal experience running games, when faced with characters that do staggering amounts of damage and bring little to no personality to the table are just making my job all the harder. My problem with role-playing is some people take forever and a day to type the smallest of sentences. When I can get up, make food, dick around, come back 10 minutes later and I have not missed anything, that slow pace is such a killer for me.
