Eating and drinking (non-alcoholic), he's an Elan that has been without food for years.

Second one is stealing (and returning), but had a Warder that with Stoneplate and a Tower Shield had an armor check penalty of -2, and pumped a lot of points into Slight of Hand and Stealth. He has very good at stealing.

Magus, really. It's the only truly effective and ~working~ gish to have shown up in the entirety of D&D since githyanki were a thing.
>>
>>50183006

>>
>>50182609
>What's your character's vice?
Depends on the character. My current one is into powerful weaponry.

My favorite one is collecting sexual conquests of a more bizzare and monstrous nature. So far her strangest has been a female drider. She's hoping for an even bigger male dragon than the last one, but it's unlikely at this point.
>>
>>50183063
Not really - it does the job its intended to do, which is channel spells through weapons and hit areas of effect hard, and give some minor utility (flight, detections, intel). Remember, gish were originally githyanki warrior-mages, so anything utilitarian was covered by other classes in their troops. If you needed utility spells, you were already fucking up the raid.
>>
>>50183089
Its more that they rely way too hard on shocking grasp. In many ways it might as well be their only spell.

The magus should have been far more "build your own", and the fact that medium and heavy armor require you to hit 7/13 to use just feels like a slap in the face. Not even getting into how garbage your options are for spells.

As an oracle that needs the CHA to AC bonus do I go 'lore' or 'lunar'?
I'm not super eager to risk slowing down a combat with the lunar animal companion even if I have the macro's set up and all the tricks written down.
Lore seems nice and it gives me a lot of bonuses to booksmarts, and lets me keep some fun emergency spells in my back pocket.

That doesn't mean that's what they are now.
And the shocking grasp issue brought up by >>50183095 is on point.

the problem being that as a class Magus has way too much of a reliance on lightning damage via shocking grasp.

This could probably be solved via an arcana that trades points from the pool for a temporary element change tho

Fucking NO, that's an awful idea. It could be solved by Elemental Spell not being +1 for no good reason, or by there being actual variety in the spell list.

Suddenly I wonder. If the 1pp Magus could take a feat or second Arcana that made it that, so long as he had a point in his Arcane Pool, he could make a pool strike for free, would that make it actually a good ability? Honestly, it sounds like a solid plan IMO. Dunno if any GMs would actually go for it. If I have to be honest, the more I look at Pool Strike, the more it looks like it should have just been a base part of the Arcane Pool itself, though then then probably would have had to get lower damage scaling.
I'll probably try pitching the followup arcana to my GM, should I ever get to try playing a magus. Freeing myself from the shackles of shocking grasp memery sounds pretty legit.

So, hopefully next week we shall return and the playtest shall begin, and the archetypes (hopefully) will be done by the end of the week. I know I've said this before, but this time I hope I mean it!

Inevitably, the campaign ends far before anything would ever come up anyways, *OR* something just clicks when you see it, after multiple sessions, and you just go "I'm gonna run with this"

Most recently:
>Huh. I wonder if I could enchant *that* dragonskin the same way I did the armor few weeks back

>a practice, behavior or habit considered immoral, sinful, criminal, rude, taboo, depraved, or degrading in the associated society. In more minor usage, vice can refer to a fault, a negative character trait, a defect, an infirmity, or a bad or unhealthy habit (such as an addiction to smoking). Vices are usually associated with a transgression in a person's character or temperament rather than their morality.

When autism talks, it ranges from rude to degrading
It can easily qualify as a fault, negative character trait, defect or some might argue an infirmity And if you're sperging the fuck out, that's certainly a transgression in the person's character or temperament.

Even the heavens have acknowledged his all knowing sense of justice, mercy, compassion, and strength at arms, elevating him to the status of a living angel, whilst his lord and god, recognizing his peerless devotion, have transfigured his body into the His image.
He has trained a small army of fucking ORCS to follow justice in his footsteps, their leader is his closest ally and confidant, initiated into the secret rites of his family's way of war.
He has defeated giants, banshees, demons, undead horrors and their necromancer creators in single combat, often in a single blow.

>>
>>50184694
In my opinion? No. You'll be better served if you want damage going with Eldritch Heritage Orc. it's three feats for +6 str. With a two handed weapon that's +4 damage and +3 to hit. Better than full weapon focus/specalization with one less feat. Plus it gives you other things.

This is an example. Things like item mastery, teleportation tactician, weapon mastery, or style feats. Give yourself something gives you options rather than just big numbies. If you want big numbies there are better ways. Unless you have free space I'd say no.
>>
>>50184680
Not yet, my friend, not yet.
>>50184687
Yes, he is.
Hell, he has had eyes on the party's wizard for a long time now, a very powerful mage with no moral compass.
What he doesn't know is that the dispel the party paladin hit him with was simply to test his defenses so that he could better prepare to kill him.
I have been researching alchemical means of nullifying his magic just long enough to remove his head from his shoulders, IF NEED BE.
There is also that entire orc city to the north that I, and my orc companions, will turn to TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND GOODLINESS, even if we have to kill every single one of them to do so.
>>
>>50184708
+2 str for three feats, then +2 more at level 15 and +2 more at 19. By then you can just buy a manual of gainfull exercise.

Not worth it until the game is already over.
>>
>>50184792
Eh, it really comes down to whether you have more money or more feats to burn. If you'd rather splurge on that +5 sword of kickass, the feat route can be a better choice. Plus, the manuals only go up to +5, where orcish heritage gives you +6
>>
>>50184792
That 125k can be better spent than those three feats a lot of the time. Plus it goes to +6 rather than +5 at max.

I get what you're saying but don't think weapon focus/weapon specialization is worth.
>>
>>50184902
The problem with that is the warpreist gets magic vestments and magic weapon greater. If anyone is able to save cash on weapons or equipment it's a warpriest/cleric

>>50184957
Yea it's really a toss-up, but you can get them a lot earlier. That extra damage and attack is more usefull at level 7 than level 15.

I think that he should think about those style feats though, some of them are really good.
>>
>>50184998
I would value item mastery and weapon mastery as well.

Righteous Might Divine spell. you gotta wait till level 13 to cast it and its rounds per level; but it not only does it cause you to Get Large, but adds special defenses like DR 5/ Evil - good (depending on what you channel) and +2 AC.

Hey /pfg/, I wanna play Sister Friede. 8th level. All core material allowed, all Dreamscarred stuff allowed, others allowed on a case by case basis. Wat do

>Light-to-medium armored scythe-wielding maniac with frost and 'ash' magic for those unfamiliar
>Highly agile preferential, not a must

As for my character's vice... well, for Definitely-not-Friede I can't really put a finger on it, but as forever-DM the primary villain in my current campaign is partial to women that remind him of his deceased Goddess.

You guys are incredibly helpfull. THANK YOU!

I was looking at the styles and mobile bulwark seems to use tower shields. Tower shields seem like a bit of a trap option, but there is a wizard in the party who is fond of wall of stone. Could this be a fun/cool combo or will it just not work?

Item mastery is crazy. I'm checking all of them out right now.
>>
>>50185131
tower shields are a trap
>>
>>50185138
well yea, in general, but:

>If getting full cover costs a move action
>if the friendly wizard loves wall of stone
>if you have vital strike
>if you have sacred weapon damage scaling with a one handed weapon

Does it become a bit less of a trap?
>>
>>50185173
no
>>
>>50185183
: (
>>
>>50185173
you're using a one-handed weapon
you're using vital strike
the wizard will happily just use wall of stone on his own without your help

you're basically unfortunately falling for all of the pitfalls there. Your damage will be nonexistent, and you actually provide far, far less protection than it looks like from the point of view of a level 1.
>>
>>50185101

Thx m8
>>
>>50185173
the Mobile Bulwark style line is only really good once you hit the third feat in the line, because at that point you negate the attack penalty for using a tower shield and can gain full cover as an immediate action

you can't actually hit someone who's behind full cover, so it can interrupt full attacks, spellcasting, that firing line of dudes that was about to wreck your shit, and it'll even block AoEs like a dragon's fire breath.

Until you have the third feat in the line, though, it's a trap.
>>
>>50185227
>Your damage will be nonexistent, and you actually provide far, far less protection than it looks like from the point of view of a level 1.
Actually he might have something here against the right opponents. He can declare full cover as a move action/immediate action. If he fills in the gap in a wall of stone he should be immune from counter-attack while he delivers a non-shit warpriest-powered vital strike each turn. The destruction blessing and furious focus power attack both help with damage.

The problem is that it doesn't work against almost half of the monster manual.

MY ATTEMPT AT A SOLUTION!!

Barbecue of Burgeoning

This is a Legendary Recipe contains the details of crafting a meat based meal.

It requires meat harvested from Creatures Large Size or greater, And at least one sample of meat from the Dragon Subtype. In addition it requires 5000 gold pieces in exotic ingredients

Cooking the meal is a process that takes 3 hours, and Three DC 30 Profession (Cooking) Checks. Up to 4 Assistant chefs can assist in the cooking process, either with aid another checks, or if 4 total help, a +1 circumstance bonus to the primary chef's cooking check.

The arduous process of cooking the meal inflicts 2d6 non-lethal damage on each chef.

After the meal is cooked, One creature may consume this meal, which takes a full hour of constant eating, and will at the end of their meal increase one size category, Unless they are Gargantuan. The meal must be eaten in four hours or its effects are wasted.

Subsequent attempts to consume this meal are just as delicious, but does not increase size category again. It however increase the consumers weight by half, Locks them in at a Medium Carry weight, and reduces their speed by half for ten days.

>>
>>50186296
No that's part of the point. Good gold is good gold no matter whose face is stamped on it. However a lot of countries use bank notes or non-precious coinage.

Carrying around gold keeps you fed, unless it has the face of someone people REALLY hate on it.
>>
>>50186288
>See. Any good ones lately?

As for Roll20... It's a little difficult to say, I ascribe to >>50186303 and keep myself limited to three campaigns at any given time, so I tend to gloss over even the good ones unless it REALLY stands out.
>>
>>50186272
There's a reason that many games treat valuable gems and gp as interchangeable, because that kind of bookkeeping is boring and only autistic pedants like it. You want to make it a central mechanic of your campaign. I'll let you figure this one out yourself.
>>
>>50186313
>it means nothing save "You exchange your money at a local bank" if they are globetrotting
That's way to easy and assumes there are banks that can cater to the hyper wealthy adventurers are. Often it's hard getting currency I frontier lands because the locals who could do the exchange (money lenders, borduts, banks, etc.) don't have enough money or don't take your kind of coin/note.

And of course players can get rich playing the game. They aren't the only ones however and it's tough becoming rich.

I never said gold and silver wasn't valuable. The country that uses bank notes now do it internally as a precious metal backed bank note based currency. This is due to a massive seizing of wealth from the nobility during a cultural revolution. It was a gambit to rob power from the rich that involved the printing of paper notes. Also to keep citizen moment restricted because no one internationally with accept the notes.

It factors into the plot in a few points like the bank note currency and how it's used as a trap for citizens partially. Masochism. Our gm rolled us some random magic loot after looting a crimelord's treasure room, and among other things we found a Spiked Chain with the Vicious enchantment. Mine does, somewhat at least. He used to be a house servant of the Kaijitsu's before Ameiko ran off to go on adventures. She managed to rope him into joining her a few years back.
>>
>>50187352
If you were the GM? I would say I am willing to change it, but to a different heinous crime. My character's entire moral conflict is based around guilt and shame over what he did and how he is both living in exile, and running away from both his countrymen and himself.

I'd be willing to change it to killing the brother of my bride to be in some dispute. That'd also work.

>>
>>50187366
That's a much better option, partially because there's really nothing you can do to "apologize" for it. Eventually a rapist might be forgiven by their victim, but if you murder someone then that's it; there is not apologizing, no redemption, no forgiveness. It's much more of a struggle to deal with as a person.
>>
>>50187411
>murderhobos
>somehow murdering someone in the past is worse then murdering all those goblins right now
>>
>>50187366
Murder, torture, arson, whatever dude. Its all fine.

I was in a game once where we were doing a dark and gritty style. Later it came out that my character was kicked out of his home for being a rapist. One of the guys we played with was super quiet and I later learned that he was raped by his dad before he left to join the army. He was a cool guy but that really kinda ruined the adventure. It made everything a bit too real.

Could you change it to be something else, just for me?
>>
>>50187433
In the game in question it'd be fine, mostly because of a cognitive dissonance between wartime and peacetime murder/fighting. The character is a soldier and always has been. The brother killing would be an act of jealously and guilt, rather than in service to his nation. It would be a personal failing rather than duty.

Even then in war he tries really fucking hard not to kill, rather to capture. In play he would spare those he can, treat the wounded, and generally try not to have anyone die. If he things fighting/killing can be avoided he will straight refuse to fight. When fighting in self defense he would do all he can to ensure the other doesn't die, which he can do due to his class.
>>
>>50187302

After weeks of hard rations and salt beef, a meal that fine would make him feel like the Grand Prince of Taldor! He's never had shrimp before, much less curry, so he'll probably think the cook's quite the master of her craft.

He's poor on coin but rich in stories, and since that's accepted currency at the Rusty Dragon you'll be seeing a lot of him!
>>
>>50187272
Right now they read as 'barehanded' combatants whose natural attacks function as manufactured weapons too.

The only initiating archetype that I know of which was gauntlet oriented was the fiendbound marauder.
>>

>>50187411
Dude. There's explicit resurrection magic in the rules.
>>
>>50187438
>Could you change it to be something else, just for me?
I mean I'm not unless the GM wants me to. I know no one in the group has had issues of that type mostly because a previous adventure featured a villain who was a rapist and nothing happened.

>One of the guys we played with was super quiet and I later learned that he was raped by his dad before he left to join the army.
A friend of mine was murdered while I was with them, but I don't freak out whenever killing happens in game. I have moved past it. I'm not saying your friend is weak because he hasn't, it was likely extremely traumatic, but I do not think the fiction should be stifled in that manner.

Can a paladin worship a god that isn't LG and still be LG themselves? I mean only clerics have to be one step from there god, right? Even if that's not the case though, can a paladin then at least follow a LN or NG god? How would such a paladin work, roleplay-wise?

What Tier 3 classes can hit Tier 2 with proper optimization?
>>
>>50187494
>Having rape in my story is more important than the players enjoying their time.
Quit being a douche.
>>
>>50187510

Well Paladins dont nessiarily get their divine power from any one deity. Just from the raw goodness they exude.

So technically you could have a Paladin that worships Asmodeus.
>>
>>50187522
So, the thing is, tiers describe the ability for a class to be versatile both in and out of combat. You have to disentangle tiers from power. Because there are tier 3 characters (bard) who can have the shit kicked out of them by tier 4 characters (barbarian).

A Hexcrafter Magus, Monster Tactician Inquisitor, and Magician/More Bard can increase their versatility enough to scrape the bottom of tier 2, but not really.
>>
>>50187541
I've heard of Paladins of Asmodeus before, but how does THAT even work? I mean a LG class working for a LE deity? How do they not lose their powers?
>>
>>50187532
I'm not saying that. I'm saying that the game featured a villain who was a rapist in the past so I know it won't be a problem. Some players are able to handle these topics in their game. Not everyone shirks away from it instinctively. The point is that it is a heinous crime.

It is a topic that can come into play, it just depends on the table. The point is I'm not changing it to appease a poster on /tg/ who isn't even in my game.
>>
>>50187565
>an a LG class working for a LE deity? How do they not lose their powers?

Worship him from a Lawful neutral prospective.
>>
>>50187552
>versatility
You're misunderstanding tiers. T2 classes are actually less versatile than t3 classes. T1 vs T2 is versatility, T2 vs T3 is about having access to abilities that fundamentally alter the gameplay, such as divination spells and long distance teleportation.
>>
>>50187593

You could say Asmo is quite the cunning linguist down south, hmm?
>>
>>50187483
Gauntlets look like they only change the damage type to 1d3 lethal instead of his 1d2 lethal. With gauntlet style feats it's warpreist -4 for gauntlets. That's passable. Seems weird as I remember some sort of damage scaling for his unarmed back when it was in play testing. Either way, I guess it's functional with the style chain and it's cheaper than the amulet.
>>
>>50187594
Then my statement is still correct. Major/Grand hexes alter gameplay hugely Hello 18th level caster from any class. Monster tacticians alter the game for the same reason summoners do. Magician bards are debatable.

>Or really really good genes depending on who you ask.
He would never really give this much thought given that Lonjiku basically took him aside one day and told him "You do good work kid, but if you lay one lowborn mongrel finger on my daughter(s) you'll find yourself bound, gagged, possibly castrated, and on a ship to the Shackles. Good talk."

Which is also why he didn't retire when he returned with Ameiko, that and learning that his mother died in a church fire meaning he didn't have all that much to go back to.

I kinda like the idea but I'm tied into CHA as I'm gestalting with an oracle. It's only +2 average damage and a reach with some added grapple specialization, plus warder boosts. It adds a little bit of utility with some AoO feats but I'm already a little choked for feats. As it stands the size increase and the sneak attack at level 8 would deal more direct damage then the swap and the team buffs warlord gets are more attractive overall.

Thanks for the advice though anon's, I appreciate it bigly!

rofession (Cooking)

You are skilled at preparing exceptionally nourishing meals.

Check: Preparing a meal has a DC of 10 (for a decent meal), 20 (good meal), 30 (extraordinary meal), or 40 (legendary meal). You need ingredients, and a suitable kitchen or equivalent work space. Without a proper kitchen, you take -4 on your cooking check. Cooking without ingredients is impossible.

Decent Meal: Pretty standard fare. A decent meal grants the nourished condition

Good Meal: A good meal, the kind you could expect to find in a particularly expensive restaurant or luxurious inn. In addition to the effects of the nourished condition, a good meal grants a +1 circumstance bonus on fort saves for the condition's duration.

Extraordinary Meal: An incredible meal, the like of which most people will experience only rarely, unless they are quite wealthy. In addition to the effects of a good meal, an extraordinary meal grants 1d8 temporary hit points.

Legendary Meal: A meal of legendary quality. As word gets around of your skill, kings will fight to have you in their kitchens, and beings from other planes will seek you out to experience your masterful creations. A legendary meal grants the nourished condition, as well as a +2 circumstance bonus to all saves, and d8 + (Cook's HD) temporary hit points. Such a meal is so good that creatures who taste it can't bear the thought of dying without tasting it again.

Action: Preparing a meal takes one hour, although a particularly intricate or important meal may take longer, at the GM's discretion.

Try Again: Yes, but every time you prepare a meal any ingredients used are consumed.

Nourished

A nourished character can run as if she possessed the Run feat, and is granted a +1 circumstance bonus to Strength and Dexterity based checks, as well as a +4 circumstance bonus vs effects that cause fatigue or exhaustion. Becoming fatigued removes this condition. Otherwise, it fades after one hour.

Buddy, pal, there's not a whole hell of a lot to go off of when all you're catching is general character concepts. The artisan guy just sounded like a bro. The Kaijitsu siblings sounded like they had a fun dynamic. I think there was the one "not!Paladin" ZS warder guy that was cool too?

The slavemaster character just manages to make me 100% uncomfortable in ways I can't even fully comprehend. To the point where if you put a gun to my head, I would rather play with an "uguu kawaii" crossdressing shota foxboy in my party. If he is your cup of tea, more power to you, but something about it manages to get past my usual tolerance for degeneracy. It is in part because the fucking bookkeeping involved would be worse than having a party of master summoners who paint the field with summons every fight.
>>
>>50187902
He's harsh and severe, but not without mercy or evil. The creation of undead is evil.

The message was already sent - you were given a chance to surrender.
>>
>>50187933
It's the mesage to others.

A bandit will think twice when he sees the skeletons sowing the fields. Some things are worse than starving to death alone and cold.
>>
>>50187920
Someone is bready buttmad. Slavemaster is sauve.
>>
>>50187942
Yeah no, that message is perfectly appropriate for a lawful evil nation, but this guy is still technically lawful good.

He has compassion, but precious little mercy. He gives the bandit his options and allows them to make a choice. If they committed serious crimes surrender will buy them a dignified death and proper burial rights. If their crimes are less serious surrender might earn them prison time - but there will be some reform and absolution, He'll be honest and tell you that prison will be a shit experience but you'll be given a cursory education and maybe some experience with a trade so that you don't fall back to banditry. If you're exceptionally helpful/cooperative he might lay hands on you and do a judge dredd "Don't be here when I come back".

Planned character:
>Former prodigy dancer in cheliax
>Minor noble
>Family disgraced, character kept as entertainment, but stripped of rank
>Ended up being recruited for hell knights after a hell knight requested him
>Trained as hell knight as part of a minor order, the Order of Twisted Iron
>Combined artistry with warfare
>Character fucking leaves, hated that place as much as he hated being a dancing bow for nobles
>goes on to become a mercenary
>>
>>50188224

Well there was the tentacled lady that wanted to savor all of life's pleasures before being consumed by an Old One, her player seemed to enjoy talking about the character.

The artisan guy had a strong direction for his character concept, and seemed to have a lot of fun using the thread as part of the creative process. Kinda like Bob Ross.

You've got a solid foundation ruined by a shitty structure; Chelish nobility offers a very wide range of potential character concepts, and the character's knack for dance is certainly something that would make him stand out... But then you had to throw him through what is probably the most basic, the most cookie-cutter upbringing possible.

>I got conscripted and then ran away to be a mercenary

That's boring, that's very boring. Why not make him journey to the Swallowtail Festival while on a sabbatical? He's a nobleman, they get gap years.

>when comes of age, joins group of knights/paladins

You had me up until,
>throws self at books/religion to get away

Not because I think burying himself in fictional worlds or theology is a bad idea, I just think you can expand on this a lot more; it's a situation like this where a "mentor" character should come in, some scholar or priest that is like the father he never had, and when he gets old enough eventually pulls the strings necessary to get him with a knighthood or religious induction.

Heck, now you've got a reason for being in Sandpoint too; maybe your mentor was born there, or loved the Swallowtail Festival and wanted to visit it before tragically dying, or maybe your character is there to see the christening of the new temple!

Would flavoring the Destruction Sphere and Elemental Flux with mostly lightning/electric damage as divine indignation be kosher for golarion? Think like a "lightning is gods punishment to people" theme.

It's a good idea but a little shaky, mostly because lightning's the domain of Gozreh while most other gods devote themselves to positive energy. I'd say go for it, it's just a teensy bit weak.

>Shelyn
>Your backstory

My man, you need to take her as your deity and run with it. Shelyn's beauty and love is perfect for a character that's left to fend for himself in a loveless household, it just drips compatibility. This character is basically the poster-child for what she believes in.

Read this and get hyped: https://ckoriks-rise-of-the-runelords.obsidianportal.com/wikis/shelyn

>Where would there be minor nobles in golarion. I know very little about the setting

There's nobility all over the place; Cheliax is basically the Spanish and British Empire, Taldor is the Byzantine Empire mixed with generic Europe, Brevoy is Poland and Varisia is more or less Italy.

The question you need to answer for a better answer is what name you were planning to go for with this character, what character art, and what kind of nationality you had in mind?

>Mechanically, He's a a sphere blaster
>Fluff wise, it's freak strain of Psionics picked up by a kid who flipped through some books and had a little sorcerers potential.
>He's the bastard child of a housemaid working for the Kaijitsu's and an adventurer that passes through Sandpoint
>He's working as a house servant the moment he can pick up a bucket
>mother regrets that he can't train to be a wizard or alchemist or something respectable, the boy is very bright. He picked up Minkai just by being around the Kaijitsus for like a year.
>she occasionally gives him books about foreign lands like Tian Xia and Vudra and books on ancient Thassilon that people don't want anymore.
>he begins to idolize funky, ultra mage like figures. They're powerful, brave, smart, and rich.
>mother is a Desnarite(is that how you say it?) so she's 100% behind it
>tries his damnedest to pick up normal, wizardly magic with an old spellbook but fucks up.
>not a total wash, he didn't learn cantrips or anything but he did awaken his psychic potential.
>Cept all he can do is just shoot shit, not that helpful. But it's the most fun he's had.
>A young Ameiko sees him shooting at some rocks by the beach on a holiday.
>she approaches, she knew he was a servant boy but he never really talked much and just seemed really shy in general. Also, neat magic!
>she becomes his first "friend", as he honestly isn't used to talking to people on the account of spending most of his time working or practicing magic or taking care of the house.
>she watches him practice magic while she sings("because you always look so bothered, I thought it would cheer you up!"
>time rolls on by
