>First off, something must have more than 1 wound for concussive to be usefull. Then it must also not be a vehicle. And also not get instagibbed by Str 8. Or killed after being wounded by it. And Also fail a save. And also have a high initiative to begin with. And also not kill the dude with the TH before he gets to swing ... are you seeing where I'm getting at ? There are way to many conditions which must be met before Concussive does anything.
So, hot Jetbike on Jetbike Praetor action? Well that explains it, few people have jetbikes.

All in all, I'm pretty disappointed with the Primarch models so far. Maybe I expect too much, but the modelling on their faces is just terrible.

Some of these guys are supposed to be panty dropping beautiful, and they all look like senior citizen body builders. Lorgar is supposed to be the spitting image of the Emperor (baldness aside), and he looks like someone who is angry that the shuffleboard court is full.

It's 5 main infantry units, with most of the armor being scaled along with those 5 units, with the non scaled units being used as either flanking units or for special threats. One Infantry Battalion is in Mastadons and Achilles for a quick siege style of attack.
I /HAD/ all the vehicles listed, but my computer ate it. So this is a 1/?

1,000-ish marine split

Infantry
600 standard bolter marines.
30x 20 man squads.
150 tactical support marines
30x 5 man squads
30 apothecaries
1x per tactical squad
75 heavy support marines
15x 5 man squads
75 terminators
15x 5 man squads
40x assault marines
2x 20 man squads
25 command marines
5x 5 man command squads
5 Preators

Okay, so here is how one 'company' would be split up.

6x20 man tac squad
1x Apoth each
6x5 man tac support squad

3x5 man Heavy Support squad

3x5 man terminator squads

1x5 man command squad

1 company leader (I guess I won't call them Preators, I can think of something else)

NO Assault marines. They would act as their own independent force, akin to a quick reaction team, or the other half of a pincer movement.

If you're buying all of this, spend the majority of the money on something else instead. We've all got some sort of problem seeing as we post on a Necromundan toy soldier collecting board, but your need for both attention and possessions and the rush from spending money on shite for yourself is actually in the unhealthy.

If you're just theory crafting, apologies for presuming you had more money than sense and very little self-esteem.

Well yeah, but a single Praetor and his Centurions make a lot more sense.

>>
>>49910227
DA were black in the heresy...
>>
>>49910151
Each Tac squad would have an Apothecary, and a tac support squad to tag along as a 'platoon' like element.
When two get together, and additional two units are added- one Terminator unit, one Heavy support.
There are three of these in a company so you can have multi-directional attacks and counter attacks with the same force, and is generally the level medium to heavy armor and support starts to come into play.

>>49910170
Lol'd, yes it kinda is but I know I am not buying all of these models at once, this is like over a ten year period, I just pre-purchased four of the Prospero kits because I can sell the models I don't want to recoup like 55% of my costs.
>>49910189
Theory crafting. Long term hobby goals. I do have more money than sense, but I am spending it on restoring a car.
>>49910194

Somebody in the last thread asked me how large WS forces get, so I'll answer if anons still awake

I mainly play at 2500pts, where I have 3 5 man biker squads, a 5 man jetbike squad, a recon squad, a 10 man tactical squad with a rhino, a ten man vet squad in a storm eagle, a 10 man seeker squad in a rhino, and usually a sprinkling of either a laser vindicator, a couple of javelins or sometimes another recon squad.

So I feel like I'm quite heavy on bodies for a WS army, but nearly everything has a way of getting around the board quick if need be.

The meatgrinder changes you. It consumes you, and you never really survive it. Not wholly. There's no place in there for arts, hubris, glory, knowledge, only ugly war and unmeasured brutality.
But what I especially like about the Meatgrinder is the marines themselves: they don't care about anything else other than the promise of destruction
>DG
Wear battle damage as a badge of honour, showing they survived where others didn't
>IW
Utterly remorseless, willing to spend themselves as ammunition to bring the enemy down
>WE
Can even shrug off wounds to deliver that chainaxe to your face

The rules as they are now are that you place the models, one at a time, with the base touching the hatch and then move them up to 6'' from the hatch. Difficult terrain can reduce that distance, but in effect you can still disemark 6'' from the hatch if you roll a 5.

Space Marines and Necrons.

If you are going to do a Horus Heresy list, remember:

1) only a few of the models are available in plastic, the rest are resin unless you do lots and lots of kitbashing

2) the models are more expensive in $$$ than 41st millennium era models are

3) Heresy era space marines mainly use marks 2 through 5 of armors, these are the ones you find in the Chaos Space Marine boxes and the actual horus heresy boxes, with only a few bits here and there in M41 era loyalist kits

4) Mark 6 (beakie) is only for specific loyalist chapters in the Heresy era, while Mark 7 is late war and the books haven't got there yet, and Mark 8 won't be invented for thousands of years

Resin is less consistent than plastic. Models often need some fixing, like cutting away excess resin and filling up gaps with greenstuff up to sculpting on details yourself.

It also needs a good cleaning with soap before you do anything, more often than not the resin is still greasy from the molding process

>>
>>49911984

>>
>>49911928
It can be much more and finer detailed than plastic, because for resin somewhat flexible molds can be used, allowing for a lot more complicated stuff.

I got Armillus Dynat from FW, and the details like all the scales and such were just ... I get a nerdboner every time I think about what an amazing casts that model is.

Plastic molds are machine tooled and cost a lot.
(a plastic injection mold can cost 20K +++ for just basic shapes. Details cost more since they are a pain to tool and smaller details are harder to machine)

Resin molds don't have to be made out of tool steel to withstand the injection molding process so they don't cost as much to produce and you don't have to pay for the injection molding equipment.
>>
>Leman Russ got provisional rules online
We'll get them for Space Wolves, Thousand Sons, and the characters from BoP, right?
>>
>>49911867
Resin
+possibility to have more physical depth in detail
+details can be smaller and have sharper edges
+three-dimensional details can be done without limitations
+(for manufacturers) cheaper to make small and/or sporadic batches
-a lot less sturdy
-less consistent with details
-potential imperfections such as miscasts, mold slips, air bubbles, warping etc.
-requires superglue
-sometimes requires pinning
-have to wash off release agent residue

Plastic
+very sturdy
+very consistent
+imperfections are close to non-existent
+can use plastic glue or superglue
+(for manufacturers) cheaper to mass reproduce
-limited depth in detail
-sprue positioning can cause weird details on z-axis, most prominently visible on MkIV's bonding studs where some of them are elongated

tl;dr resin is a bitch to work with and the inconsistency can make parts that should be consistent (e.g. most things on marines) look like shit, but the fine details have potential to be better

I think the Gal Vorbak models and concept fucking rule, but Lorgar is a shitter. I'm reading the Night Lords trilogy now and I really like them even if they seem kind of weak. I'm a big fan of the AdMech and human augmentation in general, so the Iron Hands appeal to me. The simplicity and the color scheme of the World Eaters are also cool.
If I was going to do 40k, I'd probably go with the Blood Angels or a BA successor chapter. The Space Sharks seem cool, too. From what I've read up on them, they are probably a Raven Guard successor, but I like the idea of loyalist Night Lords or World Eaters successors.

Hmmm....

The Word Bearers are a pretty cool legion, and offer great detailing and free-handing due to their runes and such. The Gal Vorbak are really cool, and the Ashen Circle are awesome. The Mhara Gal has an awesome model but such horrible rules. Lorgar's a pretty cool dude, anon. He just wanted to expose his father as a liar, and he did.

The Night Lords aren't weak, and they have a pretty cool color scheme and nice rules as well, though I myself just don't really care for them. A bit too edgy for me, with Konrad "Children are tasty" Curze as their primarch.

The Iron Hands are cool dudes with some great rules and an awesome Primarch. Their unqiue tac squad from FW is awesome too, and it makes me unhappy that my legion doesn't have one. I'd say that they're ahead above the rest of the legions when it comes to FW's love for them.

The World Eaters are a brutal and vicious legion who have a wonderful color scheme, great rules, and a tragic story. Don't touch Rampagers though.

Blood Angels are great, and are pretty cool dudes. I like them, though they're mot for me.

The Space Sharks are absolutely brutal dudes, and are indeed the remnants of the Terran Raven Guard that Corax banished for being too brutal. In 30k, they're all but confirmed to be the Pale Nomads blackshields.

The Space Sharks were banished rather early, right after Corax was found, so they wouldn't have anything but MkII and III by the time they were banished. When the heresy broke out, however, they and other blackshields essentially became Space Marine pirates and raiders, chainaxe wielding Marauders who fought and looted. MkV was easy to repair and could use MkIV when possible, making it liked among chapters/whatever your legion called them/Blackshield Warbands who valued ease of repair over protection.

Please help, I can't decide on a bodyguard unit for Fulgrim!

Fulgrim with Phoenix Terminators
+ fluffier choice, canon bodyguards
+ Spartan is a dedicated transport
+ Implacable Advance
+ better ablative wounds, quality over quantity (or both if you max them out)
- can only fit into a Spartan, Kharibdyss or Storm Eagle
- need a Primus Medicae for FNP
- useless against vehicles
- wet noodles when they don't charge

Fulgrim with Palatine Blades
+ cheaper bodyguards for a budget deathstar
+ can fit into a Phobos or Dreadclaw
+ can use a regular Apothecary for FNP
+ can handle vehicles with Charnabal Sabres and a Melta Bomb
+ can accept challenges to let Fulgrim focus on mooks or avoid harm
- only 3+ and no invuln, ablative wounds are quantity over quality but cap at 10 models
- literally raping the lore

It feels like I'm choosing between fluff or crunch and I can't make up my mind.
>>
>>49914183
I did once at 2.5k. But it's Corax and he requires no additional points investment.
>>
>>49914183
Playing IH, I only care for Ferrus in 2500+ games, although I've tried with and without him at all levels. I get tired of using primarchs below that and there's one DG in my meta that always needs Morty for some reason, even at 2k

That's a decent option too, like a middle ground between low budget and quality ablative wounds, although they can't get Sonic Shriekers and the standard bearer gets kind of wasted.

They'll definitely have different rules. Their 40k ones seem incomplete. The swords look cool, but should either be AP2 or S+1.

····Leviathan Siege Dreadnought (430pts) [Armoured Ceramite (20pts), Grav-flux Bombard (20pts), Legion Dreadnought Drop Pod (100pts), Leviathan Siege Drill (5pts), Phosphex Discharger (15pts)]

The Apothecary goes with the vets, the Praetor and Medicae (In indomitus armor, but had to use cataphractii because Battlescribe) with the Gorgons. And the Leviathan is there because I love the model.

Besides the lack of AA. How well would this perform? Or rather: How fast would the termies get munched to death? I want to field this only to shove tanks in peoples faces and charge like a maniac.

Given the shape, I'd say those are Meltabombs, rather than frag or krak grenades.
If I recall correctly those are generally on the plastic sprues, as they're common grenades for marines.

Pistols are Volkite (which are unique to the heresy, 40k mechanicus excluded), plasma, handflamer and bolt pistol.

Well what's this gravaton then? I can't find it in the books.
>>
>>49917480
There is no "grav gun" in HH, so shut it.

Pic related is a photo of the bombs included in the pack and a Melta-bomb from the standard tactical box.
As you can see, they are quite a bit smaller, but they are exactly the same shape.

The text with the pack on the FW website actually lists them as "ten melta-bombs" too, so it's safe to assume they're more modelling friendly melta-bombs.

Horus Heresy Age of Darkness Army List book page 125 (and 134) lists the profiles of the Graviton weapons in the heresy.
They're weapons that force strength tests to cause wounds, they're usually blast weapons and all have Concussive and Haywire.

The blast area also remains in play as both difficult and dangerous terrain for the next turn.

Hnnnnng those blanchitsu style sisters...
Definitely painting mine similarly, will be a nice change from so much black I usually paint.

>>49916636
Those bases look exceptionally good compared to what GW usually does.

Sexy as fuck, anon.

>Prime white
>Averland Sunset (usually it take 2 thin coats)
>Glaze Lamenters Yellow
>wash Agrax, light on the high areas, heavy in the crevices
>let the wash dry
>Use Mahagony Brown (Vallejo) with a sponge to get some drity/rusty effect going
>Leadbelcher with sponge, too, but not a heavy as the Mahagony Brown
>wash the silvery metal parts with Nuln Oil.

Pic related is the result.

Blanche never used metallic paints though, just high contrast NMM.

Hey guys, i wanted to ask what you guys think of pyroclasts. They look rad as hell and are supper fluffy for a assault oriented sallies army, but arent you better off taking assault marines with some flamers? Sorry for any bad english, its my third language and im typing this on phone.
>>
>>49917686
Is this a trump marine? He's just as orange.

More like a bad lighting thanks to Nexus 5x True tone flash Marine.

IRL he's more yellowish, found a Pic of my Sarge taken in a lightbox, this is how yellow the Centurion is IRL. The sarge is painted the same way as stated above.

Auric Comment. Nice anon, even if I disagree with the cables being also yellow
>>
>>49917833
Thanks. I don't like the look of the black and/or metallic cables. It's like a fucking big X on their chest screaming: "AIM HERE FOR INSTAKILL!"

How does this look like for a 2500 point edgelord list to build towards for a first heresy army? I've played with a friends Death guard often enough to know how 30k games go and i'm sick of playing Nids, so i figured i would try the other super scary things out there.

435-Night Haunter-Warlord-Terror Assault

150-Forgelord-Cataphractii, Power Fist, Rad grenades, Trophies, Teleporter

205-Command squad, Cataphractii, 1 Chainfist, Teleportation Transponder

245-Cortus dread, Power+Chainfist, dread pod

275-Terror Squad-10 models, Volkite Chargers, Chainglaive, AA, Meltabombs
275-Terror Squad-10 models, Volkite Chargers, Chainglaive, AA, Meltabombs
275-Terror Squad-10 models, Volkite Chargers, Chainglaive, AA, Meltabombs

230-Primaris-Lightning-Battle servitors, Ground trackers, 4 kraken penetrators

410-Leviathan Siege Dread-Phosphex, Melta Lance, Siege drill, Dread pod

I love the idea of insane dreads crashing to the ground, messily killing anything nearby with a forgelord dropping in later to clean up survivors and noting how successful his most recently installed inmates were when released onto the battlefield. Crunch-wise, it seems like its decent at both anti-infantry and anti-tank, although it might struggle against tank spam lists. I could free up a lot of points without bringing batman, but Primarchs are what makes 30k special. Any commentary?

How to fur? The armor looks like runefang/ironbreaker + agrax or nuln only in the recesses. What I don't know about is the fur, it whould be my first time painting it. Any guides? Or should I ask in /wip/?

MY COLOURS I WEAR WITH PRIDE. PROUD TO LIVE, PROUD TO DIE.
Then a Tau kills him and turns into a Leviathan dread
>>
>>49917905
If IW can have theirs in their main color, I may be a little bitter and have my cables in my main color, too. It's by far more esthetic.
>>
>>49917904
If you email GW, they actually do reply to questions like that about how they painted their models.
