how come when i click "buy now" i get to a page where the price is $17.99?
>>
>>49227062

Hmm... I dunno, it's the advertised price when I press on it, a possible cause might be we live in different countries and the store that sells it for cheap doesn't ship to yours? I dunno man, I'm just guessing here.
>>
>nourishing lich

like ... nourishing shoal and lich? for what purpose? how does this deck win?
>>
>>Playing?
Storm, currently grinding station but soon switching to hybrid
>>Sideboard?
Hate for hate, I want to win, why dilute?
>>Silver bullets for the local meta? What does your meta look like?
No bullets, meta is ~15% GWx creature decks, ~15% Chalice decks, 20% combo and 50% other blue
>>Your turn 1 play is Cabal Therapy. You're going in blind against an unknown opponent. What do you name and why?
Brainstorm, hits ~30% and gives info

Also, how are you supposed to pilot storm vs SnS? Anyone have a good answer or article/forum post to analyse?
>>
>>49227055
>no Omni tell

Also, who's favored in the RUG Delver vs Esper Stoneblade matchup?

>>49227137
It's a Storm variant, you win with Grapeshot. So you Nourishing Shoal an Autochthon Wurm with Lich or Nefarious Lich on the field and rack up the Storm count from there. Here's a sample list.
>>
>>49227129
hm yeah makes sense. cheapest for me is double what is is for you. and there's the shipping on top of that ;D
>>
>>49227233
>>49227083
I played two tops for a bit, didn't really feel it with them... I'll try them again next time :)

>>49227233
It's not really TES ~~
Playing Cabal ritual over Mox and two 4-cost spells... But thank you! I'm trying my best to make it look pleasing!
I found my last German foil wish in Prague though, should probably assemble it in all its glory again
>>
>>49227212
IMO Blackmail is leagues better if you have to turn it at their face. It doesn't have the grindy element of Retrace, but this is Dark Ritual/Lotus Petal Reanimator we're talking about. He's running 16 lands and if he's retracing Raven's Crime he's probably lost.
>>
>>49226990
>that nonfoil Ponder
FIX IT OR I'LL SEE YOU IN COURT
>>
> not playing Vintage like a real man
>>
>>49227315
I was under the impression that TES was simply any storm deck playing Burning Wish.
>>

>>

>>
>>49227342

>there will never be a Vintage general

sad
>>
>>49227137
It's cute and bad.
>>
>>49227381
TES specifically runs red fast mana to compliment it's rituals and has a greater focus on Empty the Warrens for the kill. DDFT also runs a Burning wish but usually wins through resolving Doomsday. Very different modes of action but happen to share a common trait. Not nearly enough similarity to lump together.
>>
>>49227320
It's fixed as of this week, took forever for a German foil to show up on MKM...

>>>49227315
>I was under the impression that TES was simply any storm deck playing Burning Wish.
TES is cook's deck, you can have small variations but 90% ought to be the same. While on the subject you could also look at TNT, a variation playing wish but still so different that it can't be classed as TES. Good thought though!
>>
>>49227468
Those Doomsday builds look extremely over complicated. I do love me some storm though.
>>
>>49227170
I think that's a really close 50/50 match. It's been a long time since I've seen or played the Matchup. I'm guessing it depends on the Stoneblade build though
>>
>>49227170
Delver has access to Goyf and probably Bloodbraid Elf, Stoneblade has access to Batterskull and Swords. They both have access to FoW. I'd say it would boil down to whose threat sticks first.
>>
>>49227947
Stoneblade tends to run the same Countertop package as Miracles, so I'd say it's just a question of whether Delver can ram home 20 damage before something nasty happens.
>>

>>49227947
>blood braid elf in rug delver
I cast my dope elf and cascade into... daze!
>>
>>49227947
This. It's a coinflip in the sense that RUG's win percentage for being on the play or not is huge, taking it from probably 60% to 40% because of how good Daze is in the matchup.
>>
>>49228160
Also being able to stick Delver followed by Waste-int their first land drop is insane.
>>
>>49228060
>Stoneblade
>Countertop
Nigga what
>>
>>49227500
The doomsday build's aren't really that complicated. They trade some speed for resilonce and flexibility.
>>49227137
As the resident Nourishing Lich expert, I can tell you the deck is bad. the cards to build it in paper are in the mail
>>
>>49228880

Also how would you recommend starting out with doosmday? Stormboards or some other place? I'm interested in how the deck functions, currently I just don't have the doomsdays...
>>
>>49229150
The storm boards are OK for starters. The mtgsalvation primer actually has a decent list of basic piles. What you should do is learn like 4 or 5 basic piles and really understand them, and then try to play some games. At first you'll just be trying to work the game into a position where you can go off with a basic pile, but then you'll start to see how you can modify those piles to suit different situations, and then you'll start seeing the weird piles. Also I'm happy to help answer questions but I'm certainly not the final authority on the deck.
>>
>Play Pox vs Candian Threshold
>Haunting Echoes
>Rip out all their Tarmagoyfs, Delvers, Nimble Mongooses, Brainstorms, Scalding Tarns, and Tropical Islands.

Is it terrible that I'm genuinely considering just main boarding Haunting Echoes? It's just a complete back-breaker for most decks and with Dark Rituals and a heavy land count, I haven't had a problem getting to 5 mana.
>>
>>49229423
No, my man. That's bad.
>>
>>49227055
>Merfolk
So it's not called Fish anymore?
>>
>>49229538
Fish was a separate deck with Serendib Efreet and Mulldrifter, and later Illusory Angel. It's not good anymore.

>>
>>49229673
No it's not?
>>
>>49229673
It used to be worst I'll grant you that, but in the wake of printing monastery mentor the sideboard has become a lot more flexible. If the opponent over compensates for the combo post game one then they risk getting swarmed to death by a deck that is mostly spells that trigger mentor.
>>
>>49229673
>nourishing lich & cheerios on the list
>deck with highest turn 1 win percentage which actually has respectable placings isn't
There are plenty of worse decks on that list.
>>49229631
Would anyone actually be interested in me streaming this against randoms in cockatrice? http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sins-of-lands/
I could also play zombardment or ANT. I honestly don't think I'm very good at the game (I'm not terrible, but eh) so factor that in.
>>
>>49229631
I could stream myself playing on XMage but I'll mostly be playing Parfait
>>

Do you guys think this has potential in Legacy? It is one of my favorite cards and i'm so sad it just never seemed to see play outside of Innistrad, any idea what makes it so bad?
>>
>>49229928
>>49229935
I'd be interested in that. I spend all my free time watching legacy content instead of television so I might be in the minority.
>>
>>49229993
it's bad because it costs infinity mana and has no immediate impact on the board. that said, if your deck is running sol lands and chalice of the void, you can sometimes win with literally whatever creature you want. now that I've said that, I'd like to see fugitive wizard stompy.
>>
>>49229993
>any idea what makes it so bad?
costs 5 and is undercosted for the stats, no resilience, dies to dismemeber, requires waiting an entire turn to do something and has 0 resilience
not to mention DRS can totally fuck over it's ability so even if it survives a turn and can just have a null impact
it's competing with stuff like reality smasher and it's going to lose every time
>>
>>49229993

Theoretically you could probably play it in Nic Fit, but the biggest issue is there are just so many more powerful midrange creatures you could run in that slot.
>>
>>49230000
>>49229977
It's not going to be tonight in any case, honestly I might not ever do it, but the soonest it will be is tomorrow.

FUCK i just played my 4th league match with Nourishing Lich and I got FUCCKKED. played vs 4c loam. Game 1 I did the nourishing lich thing and drew 15 cards on turn 2, but couldn't find a nourishing shoal. I zuran orbed away my 2 lands, brainstormed, shuffled with a summoner's pact, blew a lotus petal to ponder, chrome moxed another ponder to get blue to cast a 3rd ponder, and still couldn't find a damn shoal so I scooped. And then I punted game 2 magnificently by forgetting to side in abrupt decays. so now i'm 2-2.
>>
>>49231062
What does the lich nourish? How do you win after drawing all the cards with his powers?
>>
>>49231120
It's a Storm deck. You win through Storm count up to Grapeshot lethal range. You could also win through Brain Freeze but I don't think anyone here has tested it thoroughly, and it also is bad against Emrakul decks.

I don't envy your task, the 1.0 version is that perfect blend of informative, funny, and the decision tree is organized remarkably well to avoid sprawling out all over the place..

By contrast, here's the Modern one. Just doesn't have the same kind of presentation.
>>

to add insult to injury I decided to play a match with DDFT in the tournament practice room and I had to play against dragon stompy and I was going to win, just had to Wish for meltdown to get rid of some chalices, and accidentally meltdown'd my SDT too, throwing the game. Yeah I know it's a few black cards., it's like jeskai miracles only plays a few red cards in its board. I'm highly open to suggestions to include more black in the board and even main deck. >explosiveness is unparalleled
My argument has been and always will be that LED is a great card for a cute combo that almost never happens in the deck. The best you can possibly do is T1 land/breakthrough/LED into looting for a total of 6 dredges, with any luck winning you the game. Cute.

I've found it much more likely that I'm stuck with LED in a hand that would have been great with literally ANY draw spell or even Pimp. It happened to me so many times I dropped LED and never looked back, and when they printed Looting I went up to 11 draw spells.
>>
>Reanimator
oh, that's me.

Also, does anyone think the original dual lands should not be on the restricted list? They're a format staple in every deck and they're pretty cost-prohibitive to enter the format; I'm really more concerned about the format as it will exist in the future as these lands will inevitably keep increasing in price--who will be left to play against?
>>
>>49238247
>T1 land/breakthrough/LED into looting for a total of 6 dredges
Tell me where those dredges come from if you play breakthrough as a first spell.

I think I mentioned it earlier in these threads, but LED makes turn 1 or turn 2 combos a lot more reliable on hitting looting. It also forces you into the combo route and you can't come back if you get hit by GY hate. (Of course in cases like RiP it's game over anyway, but still...) I've yet to see someone else mainboard petals. Personally I think it's rather good mainboard card, depending if your meta is full of daze. It's as fast as LED, or actually faster since you can breakthrough T1 AFTER looting, but way less reliable.

Also, I have seen some people to play less than a set of putrid imps. Hesitant to say it's a correct choice as it's so powerful discard.

Can manaless do anything against hate aside from Chancellor?

I think non-LED is certainly better against hate if only for the reason that it runs more lands. My reasoning is slowing the game down for the sake of more keepable hands, and usually my endgame is t2/3 (have zombies and fuck their hand up with therapy).

LEDs and Wraiths no pimps is just better vs nothing but DRS and chalice for 1: The Meta. You can crack the LED just to dump your hand back to feed Ichorid if you never hit Looting/vs Chalice or when your pimp eats removal and LED+loot is the only way to get back in the game sufficiently fast after taking out a t2 rip. G1 LED is also the best fow bait if your opponent doesn't put you on Dredge, allowing you to resolve your loots.

How do you guys feel about Daze in storm decks? I'be been considering testing Daze in my DDFT list. Probably would do either -1 Burning Wish, -1 Duress, +2 Daze, or -1 Duress, -1 Abrupt Decay, +2 Daze
>>
>>49239317
I've seen a couple jap ANT lists using daze. It's an intriguing idea. It seems like it would be better suited for doomsday as it would be less likely to gum up the combo and help resolve DD.
>>
>>49239317
Pretty much this >>49239367. If I'm going to play a combo, at least in game 1 I'm going to go balls-to-the-wall deep on the combo. If I get BTFO I can sideboard appropriately and figure out how to take back the game. If I give my opponent what for, now I'm up a game and I can sideboard knowing it's my game to lose.

In short, if I was playing Storm, Daze and other counterspells would be sideboard cards.
>>
>>49239426
Well I have been playing 2 flusterstorm in the side and really liking it. But I think it's worth trying 2 Daze main. Doomsday plays 8 interaction slots main, which is more than other storm decks. Most TES lists and many ANT lists have been playing only 6 discard spells. 6 discard spells and 2 Daze won't hurt the deck too much and I feel like Daze could help out in some tough matchips without hurting the good ones much if at all.

>>
>>49239987
It's a simple, fast, consistent and powerful combo that allows you to play a variety of disruption.
>>
>>49240069
Dredge or Burn?

You really shouldn't get into Legacy (maybe even mtg in general) if you can't afford it.
>>
>>49240069
There's always Burn, Manaless Dredge. It's relatively cheap and will let you play with the Legacy crowd.
>>
>>49240069
Manaless Dredge will only set you back like $250 or so, tops
EMA reprinting Therapy and Ichorid helps that price a lot, as does not having to play lands.
>>
>>49240096
Oh I can afford it, I just don't want to pay alot for a the best tier 1 superdeck when I could have fun with Jank
>>49240103
>>49240113
I didn't know Manaless Dredge was so cheap. Will certainly check that out.
>>
>>49239987
I all you need is the duals, go for it.
Reanimator has some virtues that other decks can't always boast: it's by nature extremely fast (Entomb + Reanimate often reads: BB: Win the game), resilient to a lot of forms of hate (be it Graveyard hate, creature removal or land destruction), and with the exception of Forces, relatively cheap nowadays: Entomb, Iona and Elesh Norn have been reprinted, and since Griselbrand has been a GP promo there are tons of copies floating around.

However, some things to consider: While it's generally speaking easy to cheat out a fatty, closing out the game sometimes proves more difficult than you'd hope. One way to alleviate this issue is a simple thing to remember: IT'S ALMOST NEVER WRONG TO CHEAT IN GRISELBRAND OVER ANOTHER CREATURE. While Elesh Norn reigns supreme on the board, attacking for four doesn't close out the game fast enough sometimes (I've been there). One hit from Griselbrand is most often enough for people to concede, one hit from Elesh.... not so much.

In that way it feels very different from decks like Sneak & Show, in that getting your main combo online doesn't win you the game on the spot. If you dislike this aspect, you might want to look at other decks as well if you have to invest a lot of money into building Reanimator.

Also, Reanimator, being a graveyard/combo deck, might experience more splash damage than other decks from meta shifts.

The deck is pretty adaptable howver, and there are a ton of lines of play you can make and interactions to consider. Despite what some people say, mastering Reanimator is not easy.

Final words of wisdom: As long as T1 Griselbrand on the play is a powerful move in Legacy, Reanimator will be a viable deck.
>>
>>49240142
>>49240113
My Dredge deck (with lands) before LEDs was about $250 including sideboard. It was a simpler time, let me tell you.
>>
>>49240148
Hitting griselbrand on board usually means the game is over. Drawing 14 cards usually means you can play another fatso on board and you have at least 2 FoWs with backup in hand. Unless it's tin fins and game ends there.
>>
>>49240069

I've seen 8-Land Stompy for $50 and Shadow Stompy decks for $20 on the Salvation forums.
>>
>>49240179
True, but you have to be able to attack as that is your win con, which takes another turn. Also, with Reanimate it usually means you can only draw 7 cards the turn it lands. And trust me, those first 7 can be straight up junk sometimes.

Griselbrand is the most powerful creature in terms of raw power in Legacy in my opinionn, and 9/10 games it means game over. But those 1/10 games where you're slogging and just not getting there, you kinda wish you were playing Tin Fins or Sneak Show instead.
>>
>>49240148
Thank you, that was exactly what I needed. I will need two underground seas and those will hurt. I can cannibalize the other two from ANT. Beyond that, drip feeding the rest of the deck should be no trouble at all. I even have a foil G-money just waiting to be used.

Tcgplayer is a good price aggregating site with a variety of vendors and strong buyer protection policies. Source: I bought the counterfeit from some no name vendor and got a full refund. I was playing Elves and my secret spicy tech at the time was a 1-of Chordable copy of Tajuru Preserver(signed!) just to blank Eldrazi decks bringing in All is Dust. I chorded for it 5 times in said relevant situation and the only one time it failed to protect me was when the guy had an SSG in hand and Dismember'd it.

Also there was some guy who brought a Battle of Wits deck to the Super Sunday Series. It was fantastic but his opponent didn't think so.

Rough. I ended up 2-4-drop for the main event, and I can't remember how I did in Super Sunday, but I'm pretty sure it was terrible.
I was playing UR Storm

You just throw them off of the planet, and the safety net catches a few boxes here and there. That's why everything is so much more expensive, you have to pay people to check all of the nets.

Shallow Grave is one use only and exiles the creature you use it on.
Not great synergy with Kessig Cagebreakers.

Sneak Attack fills up your graveyard with bodies to further fuel the Cagebreakers.

If you have Sneak Attack and 2 Kessig Cagebreakers and 6 creatures in your graveyard you can attack for a total 30 damage with 14 haste creatures on turn 6.

Firestorm provides a great way to fill your graveyard with creatures and clear the way for the attack.
You could (assuming you make it through the first 5 turns playing only 1 card a turn and went second) cast Firestorm then Sneak Attack and use it to play the Kessig Cagebreakers on turn 6, doing 5 damage each to 5 targets and then attack with between 5 and 10 2/2 creatures (plus the 3/4 Cagebreakers).
If your opponent has some kind counter spell I would put my money on them using it against Firestorm.

Obviously Emrakul is more devastating but also more likely to end up stuck in your hand if your attempts at getting it into play without paying its 15 mana cost are foiled.

>>
>>49243125
It was pretty shit, dude.
I ended up selling like $700 in stuff.
Which is why I built Manaless instead of rebuilding Goblins. I'm poor AF

At least everything I sold, I sold at a profit. Picked up vials and caverns for $25ea, sold them at 45-50 each.
>>
>>49242979
This is true. The card still might be okay against the miracles mirror or for DnT against spell heavy decks, please I'm trying to be optimistic

Speaking of selling cards.

>take em to the shop and hawk the lot
>check out the tally
><$900 worth of cards
>Jesus H. Christ -Creature 1/2
>shop owner flips a beta dark rit at me and asks if I meant to sell that

I started rifling through the stack after that. Apart from the rit, it was just a pile of shit and one Iona and still tallied over $900. I was surprised to say the least.

Really jonesing for Legacy games now that I'm not playing it every single week for FNM.
