Thought it was more that Titans are literally humanoid planets, with continents on their bodies and stuff, so when Azeroth the Titan is born, the planet will sort of morph into a giant humanoid form (rather than, say, exploding as the Titan bursts from its core).
>>
>>48514242
I honestly wasn't sure, the only artwork of Titans that I'm aware of comes from Chronicles and that only shows celestial faces or Sargeras hitting a planet with a sword, and none of them seemed to be vaguely....life supporting? Maybe it's not really meant to be categorised, since Chronicles also has the Titans walking the surfaces of worlds.

Mankirk did nothing wrong.

>>48514283
The original Titans were definitely described as less than planet-sized, at least in the wc3 manual. However in Chronicles (see pic related) Sargeras is as big as a titan so I think now yeah, titans are supposed to be literally planet sized.

If you wanted to try to fit both together without retconning, it could be explained by the avatar. After all, Sargeras originally came to Azeroth via an avatar or at least was planning to iirc. Otherwise his eye would be the size of a continent instead of something Illidan could hold in his hand.

They may change that in the future, but basically both old and new versions of the titans are still compatible. Also Sargeras didn't use his half-a-planet-sized sword to destroy Azeroth because..I dunno, someone help me out on this one?
>>
>>48514761
I'm gonna try to answer my own question. Sargeras had to be summoned. Therefore he either can't get to Azeroth without using a portal or it's too hard otherwise. When we consider that actual ~spaceships~ are a thing, it must be possible to physically travel through space. No idea if physical space is the same thing as the Twisting Nether.

Therefore the only conclusion I can reach is that Sargeras is just reaaally far away. Makes sense - the universe is a big place, and he probably isn't too fast. Not being able to enter Azeroth is another possibility; maybe the strong world soul of Elune protects the world from Sargeras somehow. Maybe all the shit the other titans got up to on Azeroth gave it defences against incursions. I don't think it makes as much sense as Sargeras just being really far away though.
>>
>>48513986
Maybe you should discuss that in /vg/ then.
>>
>>48514821
>maybe the strong world soul of Elune protects the world from Sargeras somehow.

New expansion: South Seas.
As Kul Tiras joins the Alliance, the Kezan volcano goes dormant, allowing the Bilgewater Cartel to resettle New New Bilgewater Port, inviting both factions into the region, with several more or less uncharted isles free from the grasp of the Horde and the Alliance, untill now. The big bad however are the Naga who have been raiding the coastlines of all the continents lately, and have an especially strong presence in the region.

It could have been, but the moment is passed. Pandaria, and now Legion are also doing the whole "unexplored islands" thing, including Naga being some of the big bad in Legion. Both thematically and geographically it doesn't work as an expansion, unless you rolled back to Wrath. RIP Kul Tiras, we hardly knew ye.

Yes, but those aren't called World of Warcraft. Blizzard's PvP model was built on 2 hostile factions, half of WoW's story was based on that, and now it's too late to change things... the only way we could get rid of that nonsens would be WoW 2, ideally preceeded by Warcraft 4. But as long as there are people willing to pay the price of stand-alone game for an expansion AND monthly 15 subscription fee, Blizard has no reason to start a project that would be costlier than just another expansion to existing game, and with less certain profit.

Blizzard doesn't care about lore, only about getting the most money from their cashcow

Can humans and elves make children?

Also most people assume that the elves come from the trolls, but in Ulduar you can see images of night elves, trolls and tauren. So they maybe their own separated race?

Titan creations can inter breed? What about with the others?

Supposedly orcs and ogres are like the humans and vrykuls of Draenor, that supposing the apexis crystal are titan made and all... Why can they breed with draenei?

What I'm saying is that the Horde being "bad" is boring, and that it SHOULDN'T be bad
>>
>>48518118
Neutral dalaran was a mistake

Red vs blue destroyed every hope of the history being good.

Thry try to make the Horde the edgy ones that have to fight for their place, but in cold this just look like their are assholes fucking with the people that lived alredy there.

Trying to balance the red vs blue specially when the alliance could have destroyed the horde in vanilla (both teams shouldnt have existed anyway) just keeps making the lore worse and worse
>>
>>48518168
I think it was done well in Vanilla, when it was a cold war which neither side wanted to see go hot.

It certainly explained why the Horde could exist, because if the war did go hot they'd be destroyed.
>>
>>48518250
I thin asspulled Stormwind could defeat all of the orc, troll and tauren forces together alone
>>
>>48518297
I wouldn't say Stormwind could, but Ironforge might be able to do so

Not that they would, they're on the other side of the world and, honestly, not that big a threat. Especially since they'd damn well know that they could be destroyed so easily
>>
>>48518331
Why not retake Lordaeron? I mean they are literally evil zombies there while the quel'dorei are suffering

If they are backed by orcs and trolls you cane easily wipe, Ironforge and Stormwind being untouched by the events in w3...

???
>>
>>48518422
Because it would cost thousands of lives fighting against an army that would never give up or surrender. The cost is far, far greater than the gain

Not that former Lordaeron residents would ever shut up about it. I seem to recall some minor dialogue about that in Vanilla WoW.
>>
>>48518297
No. Stormwind was a barley functional mess in Vanilia. In Bc and Wrath they had other things to worry about. And around cata the horde suddenly pulled enough troops out of its ass to stand on equal footing with the alliance.

>>48518331
Why do people always think Ironforge is so powerful? The horde pretty much walked over the place during the second war. Just because they largely avoided the horror of the third war doesn't suddenly make them the most powerful kingdom in the world.

>>48518422
Because the entire kingdom is a rotten husk of what it used to be. There's no point in risking thousands of Alliance soldiers over soil that might never grow crops again, especially when the free undead there are acting as a buffer zone between you and the Scourge proper.
>>
>>48518168
>Neutral dalaran was a mistake
Dalaran being anything was a mistake. Seriously, people accuse stormwind of being a asspull. And yet nobody seems to care that logically Dalaran should be a undead inhabited ruin after warcraft 3.
>>
>>48518760
Because Ironforge never fell

Granted, neither did Kul Tiras or Gilneas. But they weren't around in vanilla WoW.

Since it never fell, that means everything it has in intact and working at full capacity. Which means superior production, superior training and superior numbers compared to everybody else
>>
>>48518918
I get that. But my point is that it was never that strong to begin with. There's a reason why in Warcraft 2 and 3 dwarfs only have auxiliary roles.
>>
>>48518952
Doesn't matter, because it's as strong if not stronger now than it was then, while everybody else is significantly weaker
>>
>>48518855
Eh. A wizard did it.
Or rather a bunch of wizards did it.
>>
>>48518965
Ironforge never fell. But the rest of the kingdom was pretty much razed to the ground. And they did suffer quite a few loses during the third war.

And besides that, it does matter. To use a real life example. France was conquered by Germany during World war 2. Ireland was not. And yet i doubt anybody is going to claim Ireland has a stronger military than France.
>>
>>48518855
They were already taking Dalaran back in TFT's blood elf campaign. And it was secure enough to where they locked up Kael's forces in there, and Garithos eventually fucked off to Lordaeron proper to get wind up as Detheroc's mindslave.
>>
>>48519160
>They were already taking Dalaran back in TFT's blood elf campaign.
after Archimonde turned the entire thing into dust...
>>
>>48519177
That was such a great cinematic. The direction for all of the WC3 cinematics was great, actually, they get a lot of mileage out of implying more than they show.
>>
>>48518918

Ironforge never fell, but during the Second War pretty much everything else in Khaz Modan did. Ironforge was where all the dwarves went to hide after all their other holds got BTFO.
>>
>>48519241
I watched some of the stuff on the making of those cinematics. They talked about being really inspired by Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock worked during a time of extreme censorship in movies, so he had to develop ways to show that something terrible was going on, but not actually show the terrible thing that was going on.
>>
>>48519298
this pretty much. The reason Grim Batol fell so easily to the Twilight's Hammer was because the things the Horde did there were so terrible that it's citizens just straight refused to go home after the war
>>
>>48519149
That argument holds less water than you think.

The nations that fell in the earlier wars tended to fall really hard. Stormwind was razed entirely to the ground "not even foundations were left" was used to describe it. Not to mention the utter devastation to the population.

Alterac was annihilated as a nation and left to the ogres and orcs. Lordaeron was rendered an unlivable wasteland. Silvermoon was gutted and it's source of power destroyed. Dalaran was razed by the undead first, then razed again by Archimonde for good measure.

As for the left over nations. Gilneas cut itself off from the rest of the world. Stromgarde had the best chance of retaining power, but fell to the syndicate who had allied with ogres, which must be mighty embarrassing for Stromgarde, and the writers completely forgot about Kul Tiras.

So yeah, France is stronger than Ireland, but Paris wasn't destroyed to the last building while the Germans hunted survivors across the countryside to sacrifice them to demons
>>

after being razed by the orcs twice and both times Blizzard went "nuh, uh doesn't count" and the destruction got retconned

Dalaran's plot armor would embarrass Sylvanas
>>
>>48519160
I still think its silly that after the city was by all accounts completely destroyed there were still enough wizards left to not only retake and hold it's ruins, but also to create a massive magic dome, rebuild the place within a few years, and then send the whole city flying.

If you're going to use "A wizard did it" then i would like to point out that Stormwind also has wizards that probally did it.
>>
>>48519455
>Dalaran keeps playing the Ice Block Secret
>everyone keeps falling for it
>>
>>48519479
Wizards didn't retake the ruins, elves and naga did, then left it to the wizards

They then had 5 years to make a big magic dome. That all makes sense

Having the entire place rebuilt in four years following that does not
>>

The undead didn't raze Dalaran. Just stormed in and killed Antonidas, who was powering the magical barrier around the city that was protecting it from Archimonde.
Once he was dead, Arthas and his Scourge left the city to that Archimonde could actually destroy it.

I get what you mean. But think of it like this: Imagine if Germany had completely razed France. And a decent portion of the population flees to Great Britain. Later, after the war is over those refugees get all of France's territory back. Then they spend almost 21 years rebuilding the place without getting involved in any conflicts. Who do you think is stronger then, Ireland or France?

Btw, is anybody kind of shocked at how much Stromgarde got shafted after Warcraft 2? They do fuck all in Warcraft 3. And are then practically destroyed off screen not by the scourge, but by fucking bandits and ogre's. So much for the birthplace of humanity.

When night elves where immortal, how did they children age? (And how they age now)

Did they develop normally untill certain age when they stacked?

Because a lot of people defended the "they stay like 100 years being a baby and more being a kid etc" and i find this retarded, because despite the fact they are immortal, most of their environment is not.

The remaining Kirin tor should have never gotten a chance to place the barrier in the first place. Since i'm going to assume a spell like that takes time and requires a lot of mages. Sylvanas should have just taken the place over as soon she was done securing her hold on the capital. Since i doubt Southshore was in any position to stop her.

Humans, dorfs and elves try that for centuries now...
>>
>>48520062
You forget, Sylvanas never gave a shit about conquering foreign lands until Cataclysm fucked over her characterization

Controlling a great big hole in the ground wouldn't get her any closer to revenge on the lich king would it?
>>
>>48519838
>>48520062
remember that the Dalaran warden in charge of Lordamere Internment Camp didn't even knew the forsaken were independant undeads when WoW began

The forsaken were way more isolated
>>
>>48520122
Well. it wasn't a big hole in the ground then. But a ruin filled with magical secrets that could be used to get revenge on the Lich king.

You know, this does kind of raise a intrestring point regarding Sylvanas earlier characterization. What the fuck were they supposed to do with her character after wrath? She pretty much got everything she wanted in that expansion. I suppose they could have made that the point instead of just having her go full evil overlord.
>>
>>48520096
We all know that when the Warcraft universe is finnaly destroyed by entropy /void/wow losing more subs the last sound to ever be made will be:

"THIZ IS TROLL LAND NOW, MON!"
>>
>>48520205
She should have become almost a non-entity, retreating into herself in the deepest recesses of the Undercity, both due to her own personal failures regarding Putress and Varimathras, and the fact that her revenge has been sated, and there's no further goals for her.

No quests involving her, no storylines about her except for the other members of the Horde wondering whether or not she's dead or something due to her lack of communication
>>

>>
>>48520249
This is correct.

Trolls are just Orks lite.
>>
>>48520256
I feel that would have been kind of boring. A character arc about her finding a new purpose in life would have been much better. Could have been a great overarching story line for new world forsaken/lordaeron zones. And if they wanted to, they could still have it end with her going full evil overlord.
>>
>>48520256
Putress and Varimathras rebellion was a mistake. The forsaken moment of glory should have been WotLK, instead their whole revenge plotline got hijacked by the Ebon blade. They should have been at the forefront against the scourge resurrecting everyone they could to prevent the scourge to get their hands on them.
Sylvanas play a decisive part in her revenge, get what she want and get completely emptied by it.
THEN do the Putress and Varimathras rebellion, using the absence of Sylvanas. You could even have Varimathras regency period full of shady shit. Then Sylvanas can return triumphantly as the true queen.
>>

It's dumb because he's sacrificing so much of his army just for those 25 guys. No matter how good they are it's doubtful they're worth his entire fucking army. There's a finite amount of corpses, powerful ones especially.

Let's face it, the 'actually I was just pretending to be retarded, btw I have a way stronger army hidden up my ass' was just a cheap twist to make the LK seem more powerful and give more meaning to the fight.

Twists are only good if they're well thought out. This one was not. Like bad twists often do, it destroys a lot of the prior tension and storyline buildup.

He used Every Man for Himself too early by mistake, and then it took the whole fight for the cooldown to run out.

And killing Arthas was PvE, why would he bring PvP trinket for that? He needed something for better damage.

Arthas should've paid more attention to his equipment, though... if Frostmourne's durability didn't hit zero, he could've won, too bad his abilities required an equiped weapon.

Of course, there's stll a matter of a paladin using Disarm...

Med'an has existed for nearly 7 some-odd years now I think. And Blizzard has not brought him up since his comic was concluded aside from one or two references in a short-story. Khadgar has the staff that is supposed to be "his" (assuming it's not just an Atiesh knock-off). For all intents and purposes, he does not exist anymore.

It's safe to say that Med'an is one step away from being retconned out of existence, since even Blizzard realized what a huge mistake he was.
>>
>>48551104
Because someone on the team seems to hate Knaak with a fury of a thousand suns, and instead of retconning his stuff or trying to work with what they have, they're set on giving every single character of his the most petty Bad End they can think of. Just look at the dragon Aspects.

Not necessarily Sargeras himself in flesh, but I wouldn't consider it particularly unlikely that we'll face his avatar or stop him from manifesting. Gul'dan is going to be the last boss in one of the raids already revealed, and they'll probably add some additional ones down the line, which would necessiate some more big nasty demons to fight against (it is a Legion-themed expansion, so I'd expect the final raid at least to be Legion-themed, even if they release some stuff in between). Considering we've already beaten Kil'jaden and Archimonde (twice, due to use also fighting him in CoT Hyjal), Sargeras would be a pretty obvious choise.

Having led raids in Vanilla, it really wasn't bad at all.
Class balance in the raid would be a bit fucked with 8 mages, 7 priests, 6 paladins, 6 warriors, 5 huntards, 4 druids, 3 rogues and me the only Warlock, AKA, the Taxi.

Still managed to average 20 people in the guild waiting for a turn.
I really didn't envy our guy who managed the DKP back then and all his spreadsheets.

In the end, the boss fights were complex but simple. Rarely did they involve racing an enrage timer, so DPS was more about sustainability and their willingness to STOP doing damage to do something that helps the raid. Like mages decursing mentioned before or Hunters using Tranquilizing Shot.
Bosses rarely had "execute this perfectly or the raid dies" gimmicks that define current, especially Mythic, raiding.
There were a few gear checks. My guild and I pounded our heads on Vaelastrasz 47 times in one night before we got him down.
I can still make that run from Thorium Point to BWL blindfolded. When I tell that story to people now I usually get "Wat's thorium point? lol"

Yeah, it does feel that way. I do believe it was Burning Crusade where Enrage timers were added to bosses to give a sense of urgency. My guild never did get far in Vanilla Naxxramas, but there were a couple fights that had huge health pools, but only one phase, so those were real slogs that just seemed to go on forever.
I can understand Blizzard wanting to streamline the raiding process. Very few people went very far into AQ40, much less downed C'thun, even after his nerfs and even fewer managed to get through Naxxramas before it was removed with the arrival of Burning Crusade.
Playing a Warlock, BC's raiding did get boring towards the end as my only spell rotation was "spam Shadow Bolt and out DPS everyone."
There were more gimmick fights, especially in Karazhan like the chess set fight or the stage fights with Romeo and Juliet or Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, but I remember those as fun ways to work together to accomplish the goals.
Now it's either kiddie glove bullshit of LFR or trying way too hard to pump out the DPS.

Yep. Even the famous Leeroy Jenkins video is about Leeroy trying to get the Devotion shoulders, which were for Priests.

Or having to rep up with Thorium Brotherhood just to buy all the fire resist plate gear your tank needed to survive more than three hits fighting Rag. And all the mages having to spec to Frost for the fight since he was immune to fire and all the Rogues having to carry extra daggers since stabbing him cause massive durability loss for your weapon.

To be fair, Paladins back in the day needed add-ons like Buff-ahoy, to cast their Blessings, one person at a time WHILE the boss was being pulled because they only lasted 5 minutes.

In the very early days of Vanilla warlocks, it was complete dogshit that enemies could only have 14 debuffs total on them. So all our DoTs would be quickly knocked off. They upped it to 40 later on, but that didn't help because more people were playing Warlocks then and just stacked more DoTs until we were competing with eachother to keep our DoTs up.
And then we also had to have three of us dedicated to keeping Curse of Elements, Curse of Shadows and Curse of Weakness up.

Playing Destruction with a Succubus and pulling the Seduce+Nuke combo was disgustingly fun. Because if they tried to focus me, she'd get the Seduce off. If they attacked her, I'd get a Fear off. And once they were CC'd I could take my time launching a Soul Fire at them.
>>48558417
>Since fear/horror never fucking broke from DoTs.
Which is how it fucking should be.
Wrath ruined Warlocks by making any fucking DoT tick break Fear. They scaled it back in Cata, but Cata was shit for so many other reasons.

I'm leveling a Worgen rogue now with a dumb pun name Wherewolf as an excuse to kill Forsaken fucking shits.

How would an Undead rogue even work? You'd fucking smell them a mile away.
>>
>>48558363
>They also made the fucking teleport a talent, too.
How many time did I mystified dumb players with that shit. Especially in Warsong Gulch, god if I didn't try so many rush there despite being the shittiest class for it because nobody even tried. The worst was when they introduced trans-server battlefields: that moment of horror when you see all you opponents were from the same place many it was a team and you knew you will be the only one even trying.

It was what, 6 second cast? or 8?
> Which is how it fucking should be.
Definitively.

>>48558417
And they would aggro whatever mobs they were around... that was great. Though I remember hunters pulling mobs on your face somehow too.
>>
>>48558485
Eh. Dry corpses don't smell like anything at all. Same with turds.

>>48558483
The only thing a Worgen is good for is a skinning target.

Speaking of thigns people are good for, I tried to tame the first enemy player I saw in the game. It was a bear druid.
>>
>>48558577
>It was what, 6 second cast? or 8
I believe it was 6, but with talents, down to 4.
Having your demon killed was a huge blow because that was 10 fucking seconds to cast.
>>
>>48558600
If you wanted to collect enemies body parts, you had Alterac valley... Like, 12 hours of it.
>>
>>48558483
>by making any fucking DoT tick break Fear.
Even in wrath it took several ticks unless the tick rolled REALLY high damage.
>>
>>48558611
Maybe it was the mage thing that was 8 seconds then. Damn, just remembered the dreaded days of Pom Pyro in early BC now.
>>
>>48558641

HAH!
I could go into one AV, play for 6 hours, go to bed, wake up, log into the same fucking AV game.
Only now with giant rocks and trees attacking.
I actually do miss those games because they were actually about the players fighting the players and not "Who can rush the PVE content the fastest."
I really despise Blizzard supporting that bullshit with an achievement for finishing the place in six minutes or less.
>>48558671
Wrath was where they added crits for DoTs, any crit would break it immediately and with 4 different DoT effects on at one time, there was a good chance to get a crit within three seconds.
>>
>>48558684
pyro was 6 seconds unless it was 8 in vanilla and got changed
>>
>>48558684
Yeah, Pyroblast NEEDED Presence of Mind to be feasible in PVP.
But damn was it scary when it showed up.
>>
>>48558705
Oh well, good riddance to the fucking inevitable death you bastards used to sow on everyone that wasn't fearproof.
>>
>>48558711
Or maybe I'm just fucking wrong, it has been a while.

>>48558705
Well, you still had to focus on some PVE things, those who didn't repop like the towers, since it was the only lasting thing you would achieve in the next 3 hours. But naturally they were heavily defended precisely for that reason.
> Going behind the lines with 2 other players to teleport an army under the bridge.
> Pulling the big invocation to the boss before the enemy can follow to waste it.
> Pulling the cavalry in the starting tunnels because they would waste the boss.
> Defending a flag with a rogue bro to fuck up the enemy rogue that WILL appears. EVERYTIME.
> Damn, players actually loot gold...
>>
>>48558761
Still better than being a warrior against a frost mage...
>>
>>48558890
>Well, you still had to focus on some PVE things,
Oh yeah, but the last few AV battles I tried I just watched both raids just run past each other in a race to hit the captain first.
Only a few actually tried to engage and slow the other down. Everyone was focused on just bumrushing their way to the generals.

M'uru was the last boss in WoW who was known to end guilds.
>>
>>48559327
Oh yes. There were two top-end Alliance guilds who broke up over M'uru on my old server.
Would have been funny if it didn't mean Horde would then get the server first Kil'jaeden kill.
Which they didn't, three of their guilds broke up before killing M'uru.
