>>

Mittens is the leader of The Imperium.

Everyone they've pissed off in the last 5 years is ganging up on them now in one huge coalition, and we're seeing the largest war in Eve history. Just the other day there were 3,000+ pilots in M-0EE8.

The Imperium's been losing ground but the war's likely gonna last for another month or so.

It's got 50+ alliances with a pool of 40,000 pilots to field.

I've been playing since '10 on and off, I'm not really an avid player.

I don't think the setup of this CYOA works for me. It just has "bad idea" written all over it. I feel like the kids would probably be better off with just about anyone else, and I also don't like the idea of separating them.

I think the scenerio would work better with a little more obligation behind it, something to make me feel like if I don't no one will, and she can't. It would also help if I had some kind of established means to actually be able to.
>>
>>46438435
The UK and it's current former dependencies use both, Groceries are sold in grammes and kilogrammes, fuel is sold in litres but road signs are all marked in miles and car speedometers show miles per hour. Pubs still sell beer by the pint but wines and spirits in millilitres. Weather forecasts on TV and radio describe temperatures in Celsius and rain/snow fall in millimetres but windspeeds in mph. Yeah, life in the UK is fun.

>>
>>46439574
Pity he doesn't mention how the whole dang world uses a bunch of those despite claiming to be metric only peoples.
>>
>>46439694
This is wrong.

>"The meter was intended to equal 10-7 or one ten-millionth of the length of the meridian through Paris from pole to the equator. However, the first prototype was short by 0.2 millimeters because researchers miscalculated the flattening of the earth due to its rotation. Still this length became the standard."

Not only is the meter (and by extension the centimeter) based on an arbitrary distance, but it's the WRONG arbitrary distance.

>[The kilogram] is defined as being equal to the mass of the International Prototype of the Kilogram"

That's where >>46439701 is getting his "holy sphere" shit from (its not a sphere though). They are looking at redefining the Kilogram, but have not yet reached a full decision.
>>
>>46439661
We're expected to change that practice, by redefining the kilogram, ampere, kelvin and mole by the four constants of nature, Planck's constant, Boltzmann's constant, Avogadro's constant and speed of light.

As it was discovered that the prototype kilogram of silver in France changed weights overtime.
>>
Even though it's not as regular and rational as metric, I quite like imperial. It's cozy, in a way – a quirky, kind of clumsy bit of tradition that other cultures have discarded for efficiency. I love reading about all the old systems of weights, measurements, currencies &c. that have grown and died in just the last couple millenia, so it's nice to have a culture that's still a little peculiar and "native". We still use the remnants of other seemingly folksy systems in English – exactly how much is a bushel? How deep is a fathom, or how long is a furlong? Even if it's inefficient, I'm glad my countrymen appreciate our imperfect language and traditions.

I still use metric for anything requiring real precision – but colloquially, imperial just feels comfier. Kind of like writing in the standard, but speaking in your own dialect.
>>
>>46440032

>Kind of like writing in the standard, but speaking in your own dialect

>implying literally everyone doesn't do that
>>
>>46440145
Do you not understand analogies?
>>
The whole thing about SI vs Imperial in the US is dumb. A majority of the things you buy will have both measurements on them. All construction work plans and materials have both measurements on them. If there is a chance it will be sold to other markets besides the US, it will have both. Having the US switch to metric will gain no real net benefit besides stopping internet arguments like this.
>>
SDA, when you did the Archdemon roommate, did you start off writing all the text then find images and do Photoshop, or did you do everything at the same time?
>>
>>46440403
It would mean I have only half the wrenches to sort through, though.
>>
>>46440769
I did the tasks separately, but they were independent for each other. I started off with a plan to give myself an idea of who I wanted the characters to be and gave them some quirks (like how Kyleth is a musician).

For images, I did a hell of a lot of image scouting and picked out what I thought was best for each character.

Separately, for the writing, I first decided on a layout in photoshop of what a character's "profile" would look like, and I wrote in that template the character's profile.

The key here is to fit the amount of text into your format and design; I came up with all the designs of the CYOA before I started fleshing out the writing. You have to write your text to the amount of space available, which is a large aspect in creative writing. Writing a profile in 300 words is different than 3000.

tl;dr: I planned who the characters were, planned what the design was and what amount of writing I needed to do, then writing the characters and finding images for them came afterwards.
>>
>>46441085

Doubtful, if you are involved with construction or repair work imperial sized items for decades, heck I came across cloth insulated wire at a hospital. You'd also have companies or organizations be lazy and just rename imperial sizes to metric sizes. Either way, you are gonna be keeping your wrenches.
>>
>>46438614
One doesn't go well without the other.
A father is necessary figure or things will go haywire. But a mother lends a kind of support to a child that eases the burden much.
On the other hand getting waifu and not having children is like not having a cake but eat it. That's not how it works.
Also each man, no matter how hard-hearted, will weep at the sight of his daughter. it has an appeal of nuturing and rowing something, mixed the feeling of caring successfully for your loved ones, but amped up by the fact it's the most beautiful, wondrous and precious you'll ever have.
Every father would carry the girl he cared from the crib, over tears and smiles and fever and laughing, through the metaphoric lake of fire and back.
>>
>>46438370
I simply have no grasp of imperial measurements. I can pretty much imagine every distance in metric measurements, but not the other way around.
By necessity, metrics.

>>
>>46441418

>>
>>46441647
>Even that isn't an exact measurement, since two atoms of the same isotope can have different weights.

Isotopes exist in fixed proportions in the universe, due to one isotope being more stable the others. Thus the overall mass remains consistent.

Well, them having different weight is simple, just put it in a different gravity field.

But for them to have a different mass you'd need to use special relativity. Either that or put them in a molecule of a different configuration, since the mass-energy of the molecular bonds affects the mass slightly despite the constituents being the same isotopes.

At the end of the day, though, I am far better at estimating and judging metric distances than imperial. All-in-all, metric is overall BETTER in literally every way, and so should be used just to condition the damn eagle-loving freedom-destroyers into the correct frame of mind.

Janitor working for a big science bureau, obviously they work as a military contractor. Since they are in the business of removing super-powered people (instead of making them), they were having me dispose of old super-serums because they were busy and I'm always helpful. That shit, when mixed up, produced a gas that gave me my powers. Turns out they never thought to mix and vaporize the stuff when it came to introducing it to specimens.

I would keep my costume below the overalls I wear at work, and keep a helmet somewhere secret so I can just grab and go. The plan is keep low and find allies, then make a go at the president so we can kill him and start to fix this issue.

+ A C-Grade complexity prototype that sacrifices durability with stealth capabilities.
- Is hyperaware of his fragility, will retreat if found.
+ Very good at organizing escape routes, and rigs them with multitudes of traps to take out pursuers.
- Could very well trip them yourself if you don't follow him exactly.
+ Highly skilled in stealth, reconnaissance, and assassination.
- Is an extreme hardass for the rules, due to a rebellion in his past that killed most of his loved ones.
- Still has nightmares every night.
+/- Works under Legiclator Reotri and the Time Guard.

>Grown bored already.
The reason is too many words.

I'll take Bright World (10). I don't really want heroism to be my main job, but having a "territory" sounds nice. I reckon I'll play it Worm-style and focus on my own place.
It would be cool if we could choose from a few cities to start in per each world.

My origin will be experiment (10/20) I guess. That fits what I want the best since it's kind of catch-all. This experiment went partially wrong, as I tried to summon and bind an old god, one long dead, and dead before gods knew the difference between themselves and men. Harvesting his power went wrong, and I absorbed him instead.

Fly on the Wall seems like the perfect job even regardless of hero stuff. (4/24) Also, seems like this ought to be listed before Origin.

Superhuman (Free) because hey, you've gotta be.
Portals (10/34) mostly for the sake of convenience. Hammerspace would be an incredible boon, since if I'm living in Paris I'm not likely to have a car (and thus, no trunk). Plus if I can get a high enough vantage point (The Eiffel Tower would be obvious but Sacre Coer or Montparnasse would also work well) I can portal to anywhere in the city. And those can be seen from almost anywhere, so like three portals to commute to work every day, and I don't even have to pay for a transport card.
>>
>>46449227
Reading is always relevant desu
>>
>>46449238
Camouflage (5/39) would add a lot to my ability to move around and do things.
Mind Reading (10/49) would help with tracking villains down and figuring out what to do with them once I've got them.
Opportunistic (10/59) is described like it's about fighting, but environmental awareness is an incredible boon in all sorts of ways.
Sixth sense (10/69) pairs nicely with camouflage and portals to make me all but invulnerable.
Adapting (5/74) does much of the rest, and supplements Opportunistic to have a perfect understanding of the situation.
Low Sustenance (5/79) keeps the food bills cheap.
Disease immunity (4/83) because I want it and the math works well.
No fall damage (2/85) because with my portals I'm going to be doing a bunch of parkour type shit, and I wouldn't wanna fuck up and die.
Speed (10/95) for more parkour type shit I guess.
Enhanced senses (5/100) to be able to tell everything that's going on around me.

So, lots of mobility and situational awareness. Not a lot of ability to deal damage directly, but moving so fast and having Opportunistic and Mind Reading, I bet I can find a solution to most problems anyway.

Depends. Metric is better for sci-fi. If something is based on old history I usually use older stuff, like cubits or whatever, and numbers use multiples of the factors of twelve rather than of ten. I can't think of a situation where I'd make a conscious decision to use imperial, though I do like inches.
>>
>>46439460
The US uses both too. Imperial for most of every day life, metric for science, drugs and drinks (except milk and large amounts of water), for tools to work with imported shit, and probably something else I'm forgetting.
>>
>>46449373
People usually don't count scientists when they're talking about common usage, though you're right that they use liters for drinks. I remember when the switched over too, pretty sure the motivation was just because they could sell less for the same price.

Liters are metric you fucktard. The US uses liters (metric base), milliliters (one thousandth of a liter) and gallons (the amount of milk that a cow gives each day).

Also celsius makes sense once you get to know it, but I agree about distances.
>>
>>46449710
Celsius is the one thing I'll shit on all fucking day. You need decimals to accurately measure ambient temperature differentials as humans perceive it. It is not a system designed for common day to day usage and ease of perception. Not everything that's good for science is good for your daily existence.
>>
>>46449747
>You need decimals to accurately measure ambient temperature differentials as humans perceive it.
Maybe you're more sensitive than I am, but I can't distinguish between temperatures as granularly as Fahrenheit gets. I'm even sometimes off a degree or two in Celsius, which is about as non-granular as a human-usable metric can really be. And if you're employing electronics, then decimals are fine; then you're likely in the realm of "science" anyway.
>>
>>46449747
Celsius is literally based on the freezing/boiling temperature of water. I don't think you can get more basic than that.

Outside of autistic Burger rants, I've never seen anyone complain about using Celsius as a day-to-day measurement.

You do realize that F and C measure the same thing right? Do you have brain damage?

>>46450233
Sure, if you put two cups of water next to each other you can sort of tell it, but not in any real situation. See >>46450226
>>
>>46450226
>always
Maybe there's some factor that could fuck it up, but it's not exactly hard to do.
>>
>>46450279
I guess all bees are relevant, unlike you
>>
>>46450279
No, but there are bee individuals who don't. Are you a species of an individual?
>>
>>46450290
>You do realize that F and C measure the same thing right?
You missed my point. I can't tell you how different 22 an 24 C feel because I don't have an internal reckoning. I do not intuitively perceive metric measurements.
>>
>>46450309
I am legion desu
>>
>>46450226
How you perceive heat depends on a lot of shit
I'll just list off the factors in order of importance
>Material of heat transfer
>Humidity if by air
>Wind
>Being in shade or direct sun
>Temperature
>Clouds
>High and low of that day

If you think you can accurately portray that without using decimals then you're a faggot
>>
>>46450295
That's not how sensing temperature works. Look it up, it's incredibly inexact and dependent on how you feel at the moment.

>>46450312
>You missed my point.
No. You missed mine, I just didn't let you change the subject.
>>
>>46450251
Are you talking like twintails magical girl because I never used her or her twintails for anything lewd

If anything the autism I triggered between White Falcon and Joumon/LightTim was fantastic

Oh and I was the one that caused Waifugate
>>
>>46450334
That's actually the point. Well done. Because of all of those factors it's impossible to accurately measure temperature by feel. Your error margin will always be several degrees at least.
>>
>>46450368
I left way before any of that shit happened.
>>
>>46450380
>How hot/cold is it outside
>Just go outside for once in your life, anon
>>
>>46450368
You sure sound like you were hugely autistic.
>>
>>46450368
Ore! Twintails ni Narimasu was a good anime, but making a character based on it his terrible.
>>
>>46450437
>on /tg/
Yes, the story checks out.
>>
>>46450432
I can easily tell if I feel hot or cold. But it's not possible to measure precisely enough to pinpoint the temperature exactly. The human body just isn't made in a way that would let you do that the way a thermometer does.
>>
>>46450494
You probably do have insensitive skin if you're that inexact.
>>
>>46450508
Nope. Look it up.
>>
>>46450411
Oh then you probably had to deal with the fucking elf squad or whatever the fuck they named themselves

I'm so sorry, you missed out on the part where autism was so integral that it came full circle and the autists started to fuck with the other autists

One gm actually ran a mission that built up to an Aliens ripoff but the twist was that they were being turned into mlp ponies
I helped with that and even made a boss battle and it would have actually been a cool boss battle if he didn't get banned from /tg/ and then renounced as being non-canon from fucking Zartemis out of nowhere in the mission thread
>>
>>46450523
No seriously, most of us have better reckoning than just 'hot or cold'.
>>
>>46450538
No seriously, stop dodging the issue. I looked it up and it turns out I was being conservative. The upper limit for how big a temperature change is still undetectable to a human is apparently 5°C
>>
>>46450447
Nigga you don't even know (Yeah that presice anime was my inspiration actually)
There was a option in PACYOA to change your appearance, so I said that the guy was 30 and a severe introvert so he became the twintails and fucked with everyone cutely

The more I think of it the creepier and more hilarious it gets

Genuinely? Or are you just saying that because you're starved for /d/ cyoas?
>make it about seducing a man
But it's about becoming a cumwhore, not my fetish.

I don't HAVE to marry the princess, right?
I never liked the whole
>rescued Princess married her savior
thing. I get that she's grateful, but that seems a bit much.
>>
>>46451627
The fact that you manage to rescue her is proof of a strong bloodline.
Also, you're doubling your royal territory. Everybody wins.
>>
>>46450675
Levitanus and Brimos are retty good.
Verdinia is a thousand times better.
Elderin is hell.
>>
>>46451661
I don't want to marry someone I don't know, just because I rescued her.
I did it for the quest.
>proof of a strong bloodline
Is that all a princess cares about? Not who I am?
>>
>>46451699
The "marry for love" thing is a pretty recent invention

It used to be more like "let's get married because we need an excuse to have sex", "let's get married because we had sex without an excuse" and "let's get married because our dads told us to"
>>
>>46451842
You forgot the most important reasons! Money, and politics!
>>
>>46451842
I'm not gonna marry her then.
The King can't do shit, it's my dream.
>>
>>46451627
No you don't have to, it is your dream after all. Most of them are just open to that avenue.
>>
Ok it's late but I'm pretty much done. Shall I post it now or wait. Don't think I can stay awake much longer for feedback or errors.
>>
>>46451932
Nice.
That means I can rescue more princesses.

Both of those are under "because our dads told us to". Thought to be fair depending on the circumstances it could be a grandfather or uncle, maybe even a brother.
>>
>>46450226
Well I'm not that guy but i can use celsius to get within 2 degrees on feel alone, yes. Maybe its because its the temperature system i was brought up with?
