Striking in mma generally has less impact due to their stances. They have to trade off being able to throw more powerful punches or kicks because they have to watch out for a clinch, trip, or takedown. Definitely was full of iffy stuff going on then. That was pre USADA. UFC fighters are now subject to year round testing and tighter rules.

Boxers are usually only tested in camp, not out of camp, as the drug testing is part of the bout agreement. Once the fight is over, they aren't tested until they sign the next bout agreement. If he's not being tested for it, why assume he's not using it? Boxing should find a method to introduce year round random drug testing and the clean boxing athletes should be leading the call for its implementation.

He was exposed now... Dunno he lost clearly. But still on point in a decision. Barrera didn't even knock him down (and hamed had been down before couple of times so it's not like that's impossible)

Pretty clear that Naz wasn't at his peak in that fight (couldn't even do his flip over the rope)

Never really felt that the boxer Hamed got exposed in that fight. If he really was a bum he would have been annihilated by that barrera (who trained like crazy for that fight) not a UD loss. The athlete did get exposed tho, he didn't have the will to train anymore and relied way to much on his power by then.

He won against solid competition (boom boom johnson, kevin kelley, soto, steve robinson, paul ingle,..)
Some of whom he really broke down in a very exciting manner.

He just faded too soon and relied to much on his physical gifts.

However he did 1 amazing thing for boxing, he brought real paychecks to lower weight fighters.

I think at a moment Naz actually earned more in a year then Lenox Lewis

There is such a difference from a fighter who is 49-0 as a fighter that is 5-2 (in the ufc) which was what Eddie Alvarez was on at the time he got whooped.

Also if you actually watched or understood fighting you would be able to see that Floyd is a defensive genius and Alvarez literally isn't good at fighting, he is just quite tough and had a lucky break a few times.

Put it this way, Real Madrid or Barcelona might loose to Deportivo or whatever team once in a while, it doesn't mean that Deportivo are actually that good. Similarly everyone that connor beat in the UFC was not even good. I watch almost every UFC card, and I never bothered to watch Aldo and his stupid close range brawling/ muay thai.
