Why are there more male female-foot fetishists than male female-hand fetishists?

Background: Someone told me that the seeking of female fertility markers (such as symmetrical features, ample breasts, lustrous hair) was the reason men find feet attractive.

The reason men find feet attractive is due to the location in the brain that controls our feet is right next to the portion of the brain that's responsible for our genitals, so the wires get crossed often. Men have higher sex drives, so that's the reason foot fetishes are more common in men (women would just get a pedicure if they wanted to feel good)

What is the substance matter is made of?

What is the material that forms the smallest particles?

literally the particles themselves. the fundamental particles are called fundamental for a reason. they are the smallest unit of "something"

Hey /sci/, I have a question.
Do you think there could be other events in the universe on the same scale as life? Could we comprehend them?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Laws of physics are the same throughout the universe.
Materials that make up Earth are common in space.
We will comprehend it.
>>
>>7801517
the word for things we cant comprehend is god. i think there is but I cannot begin to realize its existence as life is too self important.
>>
Life is just a matter of complexity.

Things with the same amount of complexity extremally diferent from life can exist

Let's please have a general thread about the Solar system.

I grew up with the nine-planet model, and therefore watched with extreme pleasure as New Horizons photographed Pluto-I'd been wanting to see pictures of it since I was a kid. I also tuned out the multiplicity of new bodies/KBOs for some years, being busy with life. However, I've re-visited the subject, and to self-teach, I followed along with wiki to build an arbitrary version of the largest known bodies in the solar system at the moment, and (sometimes) their attendant satellites.

I've scared people off with my autism enough times in OPs to know not to lay it on too thick in the OP itself. But in later posts, I'm going to get autistic. I have substantive questions.

Charon and Pluto are a double dwarf planet with 4 moons.
>>
Why is everyone always so concerned with pluto. There are far more interesting worlds in the system to obsess over, not to mention probably a dozen more KBOs bigger than pluto still floating out there. Fuck pluto.

Dwarf planets are still planets, but as a sub classification.

Its a requirement as our understanding of the solar system grows and simply calling everything big orbiting the sun a planet is too vague.

What is the most basic vocabulary physics can be reduced to (e.g first-order logic, higher-order logic, it can't be reduced from natural language, etc.)? Whether or not this question has pragmatic significance, its hard to say that the question doesn't have meaning, and unlike the phil of science topics usually posted on this board (Are atoms really real or just useful theoretical models for explaining experiential regularities?, but like what if we live in the matrix bro? Physics can't prove we don't, etc), it tends to attract people who actually know some physics. If nothing else its an interesting mental exercise. I'll be replying to this with a few possible answers (not my own, i'll just give a rough description of the popular views in analytic phil), hopefully those won't be the only posts.

>logical positivism
This is the scapegoat of modern analytic philosophy, and while I think its true that its an untenable position and the critiques are damning, the positions supports had some useful insights. The position is this: the entire meaning of a statement lies in logical relations. What those relations are between isn't essential to the view because the relata is *nothing but* its place in the schema of logical primitives (sense data is possibly an exception but that isn't very important).

If your interested in why no one takes positivism seriously read this paper, its pretty short http://www.ditext.com/quine/quine.html

When filming a Samsung Galaxy s6 edge, or any device with a similar display probably, -I just happened to see this one- there's light stripes floating from the display's bottom upwards. It's probably nothing unusual, but what is this effect called? And why doesn't this appear when filming an iPhone's display? (Both were in the same video)
Thanks

I would hazard that it's something to do with the refresh rate of the screen, if it's lower than the frames your camera can record, you will capture images of empty frames in between

It may seem a but restarted, but give figuring out calculus a try. Not just understanding it, but start with a simple idea and work your way to developing some Math to describe it! I had a pretty fun time figuring my way around Rate Of Change in graphs several years ago and it helped me a lot once I got to calc.

Define math problems.
Define fun.
Trying to understand real analysis is a problem and its fun.
On that matter, "real analysis" by rudin is my favourite.
Dessert it with some Measure theory and you will understand probability on a whole different level
