Hey /sci/

I work a physically demanding job. I walk about 15km a day minimum and climb about 300 feet of vertical ladder a day. Also lots of crawling and random climbing. I also wear fill nome coveralls, leather gloves and a hard hat in +30C.

I'm also in the gym for 1.5 hours a day.

I'm drinking about 8L of water a day. Some bozos are telling me this is going to kill me or cause negative effects. These same assholes drink about 5 cups of coffee about shift and no water, I don't know how they're not dead.

Is there too much water intake? Thanks for the input on the bio question.

Sorry.

Yes, you can drink more water than the body can handle.

How long have you been doing this?

How old are you?

Where do you live?

I think OP is just putting "will we eventually be able to escape the end of our universe using technology" in a meme way.

>>8168649
I'd say it's plausible that we could survive. We could do a lot in 30 billion years, considering the rate of our technological progress.

Is psychology a meme field?
30 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Yes.

Just like STEM, and any Physics that isn't Thermonuclear or Astro.
>>
>>8168617
Psychology isn't really a meme, but it is largely bullshit. It's definitely not a science because psychology has some very serious problems with reproducibility, which is a core principle of the scientific method.

Maybe it is a meme too. I know quantum mechanics and game theory are both straight up memes.
>>
>>8168637
M8, the scientific method itself is fucked up. There is no clear formulation of what it is. The one taught at schools, the inductive one, is flawed.

Have you ever worked out the solutions of a 4th degree polynomial using the quartic formula? By hand, not coding it into a computer.

If not, why don't you do it right now?

I'll try to make this quick.

I'm 21 years old. I joined the military after high school and got out recently. I'm going to be starting school in the fall and I need to take Calculus to transfer to the program I want. The highest math I took in high school was Precalculus, which I barely learned because I was a depressive shitter. That was almost three years ago and I haven't really been in a classroom setting since.

I do not consider myself a prodigy or any other sort of genius.

How can I make sure that I don't fail this class? How should I review high school math to prepare? Should I just blow through Kahn Academy in a couple months and call it good?

Sorry for shitting up your board.

>>
>>8168467
>this math review
totally doable

I hear the format of Kahn has changed recently in ways that people don't appreciate.

www.patrickjmt.com has a lot of videos on the same pre-calc/calc topics

or you could go to bookzz.org and download a couple textbooks after simple keyword search
>>
>>8168467
Your military discipline will get you through ez.

All Calc classes hold your hand with review stuff that you'll need.

Trying to learn yourself will most likely discourage you.

If you want to review, look up formulas about lines, circles, parabolas, etc. And understand why they look the way they do. You can also ll read up about exponents, natural logs, and trig if you want to. Trig won't be important until Calc 2 and 3 though.
>>
I assuming you are a CC student now, how exactly are you able to go directly into Calc 1? I thought all CC's make you take a math placement test. If so, you wont need worry about review because youll be placed in the appropriate math. Anything lower than trig/precal is a huge waste of time, since precal is essentially a very large fast paced review of algebra.

If you had the opportunity to be the first person to set foot on another planet, would you do it? The only downside is: it's a one-way trip. Your chances of ever seeing Earth again are slim.

Fuck no. I need several thousand colonizers for any chance of survival if I'm staying there for the rest of my life. And what are the chances I'd be the first to step off a goddamn colony ship?
>>
I want to be the first to set foot on Venus.

One way trip, eternal fame, you know nobody else is gonna bother so you'll have an entire planet as your tomb. Mars's boring, we'll get there eventually.

As you see in the pic attached im trying to make a edged blade, but I want the downwards slant to go down the curved highlited blue region insted of right angle you see at the end.

/sci/ons, I majored in the humanities and lately I'm getting extremely interested in statistics.
Do you guys have any recommendations on a good textbook to start from? Any online resources to use (khanacademy is not doing it for me, everything is too basic). I'd like something like the Yale Courses you can find on YouTube, where you can watch whole classes of undergrad courses.

>>8168125

Foundations of Probability by Kallenberg is a pretty accessible introduction.
>>
>>8168125
If you want some thing new, look up some undergrad syllabi, they usually contain a text book. I wouldn't recommend that though. Try some used book stores in your area. I went to a dollar book store in LA and found a classical physics book from the 50s that was virtually identical to the one I was assigned.
>>
>>8168148
I'm not from the US, so i think I might have some issues. I have a book from an undergrad course I had on Statistics applies to the social sciences, but that crap is full of errors I've already caught with the Khan lessons.
