Does Newton's Laws of Motion prove or disprove the official story of 9/11?
First law: In an inertial reference frame, an object either remains at rest or continues to move at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by a net force.
Second law: In an inertial reference frame, the sum of the forces (F) on an object is equal to the mass (m) of that object multiplied by the acceleration (a) of the object: F = ma.
Third law: When one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on the first body.
All three of the collapses seem inconsistent with the above. Would /sci/ care to discuss?

>All three of the collapses seem inconsistent with the above.
In what way?
>>8435851
Well considering the height of the impact zone where the damage would of occurred, I have trouble seeing how the top section of roughly 15-20 floors could give in and proceed to plummet through 70-80 floors. it is especially concerning when you consider the support systems, designed to with stand three times the weight of the tower were destroyed in this floor-based collapse. Isn't the section of building several floors below impact zone considered healthy and undamaged structure? How did its support for the weight it held for decades before this event suddenly fail?
>>8435846
OP you seem to not or misunderstand the balancing forces of the Normal Force and the Force exerted on the towers by the earth via Gravity.
Redpill me on "data scientists".
Some of them work at my company but I've never had any direct contact with any of them, however from what I've seen, it seems that they're literally not doing anything -- ever. Yet they seem like the smuggest motherfuckers ever with this condescending attitude -- they will look at everyone else like they're beneath their level for some reason.
What's the point of them? They aren't programmers, they aren't system engineers, when my friend told one of them that they're only gathering statistics they all got offended, so what exactly do they do?
>>8445960
They're just statisticians with a meme name.
>b-but muh neural networks
Statisticians.
>>8445960
As your article suggests, "data science" is basically the business buzzword of the decade, so depending on your company you may find "data scientists" working on everything from data acquisition to data preprocessing, data warehousing, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, forecasting and even data-driven (i.e. evidence-based) policy recommendation.
Don't expect HR to know the difference.
The more tasks a "data scientist" handles simultaneously, the more indispensable they become to the company (especially if it's a small company), which might explain some of their smugness.
That said, it's statistically more likely that the people you meet were assholes.

Get given data. Put in in R. Coffee. Run a few tests and browse the web. Lunch. Run a few more tests. Coffee. Print a boring graph/write a report. Home.

Yes
it has been for centuries now
>>8441981
Yes it is.
Gardner's Multiple Intelligences theory is a lot of unfounded bullshit created to make everyone feel like a special snowflake.
IMO however, I think that you can display slight improvements in IQ with training.
What about reaction time?
any of yall good with python? I'm stuck af on a question
>>8441882
are you familiar with the technique of copying and pasting from stack overflow?

entitled millonial kids
>>8441888
I have been googling for a long time and cannot find anyhting similar to my question
How many hours do you study a day on average?
Also what's your Major (USA) University Course(UK+ others)
Medicine
4-6 hours on average
>math
Like, maybe 5, or 6 right now, my dude.
>>8436627
Medicine, approximately same as you.
All day but with a lot of pauses. Maybe about 4 continuous hours or less.
All scientists and enlightened humans must squat to shit.
Scientifically studied the benefits are:
- Less time to shit
- Cleaner shits with less required TP
- Healthier for you and avoids many negative health effects of the strain
Both the time needed for sensation of satisfactory bowel emptying and the degree of subjectively assessed straining in the squatting position were reduced sharply in all volunteers compared with both sitting positions (P < 0.0001). In conclusion, the present study confirmed that sensation of satisfactory bowel emptying in sitting defecation posture necessitates excessive expulsive effort compared to the squatting posture.

Sit Shitters = low IQ monkeys wasting time, messier, and higher chance of hemorrhoids and other problems.
Defend your continued use of sit toilets if you want but know you can not be someone who believes in science if you sit to shit.
Sitting to shit is a sign of humanity's poor IQ and poor intelligence to adapt to better things.
Because the first designs constructed had a "sitting position" it just stuck. While squating is far superior of a posture for expelling waste quickly and cleanly.
You have literally SPENT days or weeks of your life pushing out shits and cleaning up messes you could have done in a fraction of the time. Not to mention less painfully and with less side effects.
good thread
>>8435223
>shit in uncomfortable position that causes rectal problems and makes diahrea and other problems 10x worse.
>all science proves it's a horrible way to do it
>society still does it
Not only this but dumb fuck low IQ animal shit monkeys also make fun of countries that have squat toilets as being "inferior".
Meanwhile they shit in a horrible posture and position that causes literally 10x as much strain and mess all over their ass.
Good thread last time, let's get some more serious discussion!
A few prompts:
>any cool theorems you have read lately?
>any reference requests?
>looking for anyone to study online with?
>any other prompts?
Pic related is a theorem I find fascinating. For those unfamiliar with it, it is a basic result from Morse theory. Essentially given a nice enough differentiable function on a manifold M, you can determine it's shape up to homeomorphism by finding that this function has two non-degenerate (think, "nice") critical points.
>>8437059
But this is trivial, brainlet.
>>8437059
Interestingly, I have read about Milnor's proof of the existence of exotic 7-spheres last week and he used this very fact in order to prove that some weird fiber bundles he had constructed were in fact topologically spheres.
Pretty nifty
>>8437252
Indeed, this was from Milnor's book, Morse Theory, if you hadn't already noticed! I like his writing a lot.
Just got a job offer at a big financial company. 72k starting with BS in mechanical engineering and nuclear physics.
Will the world be disappointed in me for not continuing my research and inventions?
>>8446993
Fuck bitches, get money OP. You're going to wish you fucked more bitches and got more money when you're old and tired. Ask any old guy.
>>8446993
>72k starting
Go get money. Bang chicks. Enjoy life.
How is anybody honestly conflicted about this?
>>8447041
Is 72k even that good? The position is for data science internship, when it concludes I can be offered full time at around 100-110k.
But still it feels like I have thrown away all my research and all my grant writing just for the cash. I dunno I always dreamed of being a great scientist, but academia kinda shit on me.
hey /sci/, does this kind of shape have a name or algorithm? For some really strange reason it has been on my mind and I need an answer
It's made of 4 triangles
>4 triangles
no, you cannot have 8 vertices from 4 triangles
>>8446381
Well it's not really 4 triangles I guess, the bottom line is missing, but it was the best way I could describe how to construct it
What would the top view look like? Something like a circle?
Freshman in college here
Im in general chemistry, have an exam on wednesday
I think chemistry is really interesting but it doesnt really come naturally to me, anyone have good advice on how to study or how to better understand the material?
I know this is a really broad question, but I just wanna hear if you guys have any tips
>>8446296
IMO the best thing to do is to work as many problems as you can.
Many textbooks are crap; get Zumdahl's 'Chemical Principles'
You can find the textbook and solution's manuals here:
http://bookzz.org/s/?q=zumdahl+chemical+principles&yearFrom=&yearTo=&language=&extension=&t=0
>>8446303
downloading now
thanks anon, ill work through some problems after I finish re-reading the lecture slides
Practice problems in your textbook and online. Literally just google "(topic here) practice" and you'll find a lot. Also check out Openstax's chemistry textbook. It's free.
Are you struggling with anything specific or just looking for tips on how to git gud?
What do scientists mean when they say race is a "social construct"?
Barack Obama is half black and half white. But people always call him black. They never call him white or biracial.
>>8446035
They mean that "species" is a social construct. Just don't know that that's what they mean.
The human race has many constructs. Humanism is one, racism another.
Static everywhere.
sparkles of white light on sky.
What is it /sci/ ?
Is my brain fucked ?
>>8445825
I had it for my entire life, but then I conked my head a few months ago and it sort of increased, and I now also have those sparkles when I look at the sky and other little starbursts/afterimages/trails of light etc.. So, I guess we're in the same boat.
>Recent research has confirmed a brain hypermetabolism in persons with visual snow, located principally in the right lingual gyrus.
This is what hypermetabolism actually is
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermetabolism
Funnily enough, my mother and her mother both suffer from hyperthyroidism/graves disease, which is apparently a cause for hypermetabolism, so maybe conking my head triggered something that I inherited. It seems awfully coincidental, no?
From all of the research I've done, it is benign and doesn't effect your life span or anything weird like that. We probably will have some treatment/more information within the next few years. it seems like a simple thing to treat. We just need to wait for the research to complete.
>>8445839
>conking
I have really serious scoliosis as well.
My neck is fucked as well.
So when my neck is really uncomfortable my VS increase.
Ive spoken with therapists as well, they told me they saw shit when they did neck exercises.
So there is chance that it has something to do with blood flow into my brain.
>>8445844
yeah, I get these mild headaches now, and a lot of the time, I feel it in my neck. really weird. the lingual gyrus is in the back of our brains by our necks, the red part of this image. who knows what's really going on. I've noticed very mild difficulties with recalling words and actually speaking, too, apparently some people with VS also experience that, and the lingual gyrus has to do with recognizing words/letters, shit like that I suppose. It has nothing to do with your intelligence though, and I DO feel 100% in regards to my intellect, so it's just this weird ass annoyance. Hopefully the research being done right now finds some cure or any treatment.

I know it's unlikely that i'll ever amount to much, but whenever i find myself wasting time on the internet i think about the useful skills i could be learning and get depressed, i seem to have a sliver of hope left in me.
How do i get rid of it?
what would you like to learn?
>>8445595
I don't want to learn, i want the sliver of hope i have that at times makes me believe all i have to do is work really hard and anything is possible gone.
What came first: blood or the heart that pumps it?
>>8445472
dat pic
>>8445472
blood, it all kinda sloshed around first
then a muscle developed to move it around
then some veins to direct it and hormones to tell the veins where to go
>>8445472
Blood, see animals that don't have hearts. Although it should be said that the blood is most likely very different from mammal blood.
How do you stay focused /sci/
I can't read for 20 minutes without at least opening a new tab in /r9k/ or /a/ please help me
If I actually study all this shit are actually so fucking easy but I can't spend a small amount of time remembering semantics and do my work
Adderal or Ritalin are GOAT
If you need to study for a test, 200-300mg of caffeine help, it improves short-term memory due to higher levels of ACh.
>>8445482
i have gastric so I can't take weird acid into my stomach or i'll be out of breath. Caffeine included.
pls respond
I also need help with this
my main problem is interracial porn, I often have 5 to 7 tags and I just cant stop masturbating all day.
