Okay. I've got a question for all you neuroscientists and psychiatrists out there

What are the possible causes of the following:

>wake up one day, realize I have no emotions
>I used to be a super happy person, very kind and outgoing, sappy scenes made me cry
>now nothing. I tried to imagine my family dying in a car accident, and I felt nothing
>I was deeply in love with a wonderful girl before this; I woke up one day and suddenly felt nothing towards her
>I used to be deeply motivated and have a ton of goals and dreams. Now, If I failed college today, it wouldn't bother me
>Can't feel any emotions any more. Not happy, not sad, not angry. Nothing.
>If a tree fell on my car today, it wouldn't bother me like it would have before this started
>used to be super horny all the time; now have zero libido. I can still orgasm, but I don't have any sex drive, nor do I feel much of any sexual attraction towards anyone.

It has been going on for about a week and a half now. I am very concerned. Before you say "see a doctor", I already have an appointment scheduled. I just want to know possible explanations for it. Everyone in my family, and even my coworkers have noticed that something is different about me. I am just not myself anymore.

What do you know of that could cause this?

What do you guys think about marihoochy?

Is it fine in moderation? Or does moderation not exist in this scenario? Does any use make you dumber, or only after extensive use as your brain becomes more attuned with being high than being sober?

I find it difficult to concetrate on a mathematical equation while high, while I excell at musical and other artistic tasks.

I think it's hard to say whether it makes you dumber or smarter. It's just a drug.

After going through periods of complete sobriety, and getting baked every day throughout my college career I can say this:

Weed is amazing for reflection on things you already know. It's great to get a second insight on things you've learned, and to think about these things from a different perspective.

But weed also definitely slows down your ability to learn new things. It also messes with your ability to actually perform work.

I want to bult a basic 2 post and beam structure or perhaps an A frame structure.

For hanging a heavy bag.

How can i calculate the max load i can place on the beam for varying laminates of wood of varying lengths?

For instance 10 foot or 16 foot length beam made up of two or three sistered (secured together length wise) 2x6s or 2x8s?

Also how does one practically visualize psi or psf? If the bag is on a 1/2 inch eye beam that is 4 inches long, is the whole weight of the bag on 2 square inches?

Thanks

Here's my fatal flaw with evolution.

Let's say you have a dog. And let's say there's an empty elevator shaft. Does a dog know what an elevator shaft is? Of course not. Does the dog know that if it walks into the elevator shaft, it will plunge several stories down to its death? No.

If it falls down, it dies. There's no passing of any "elevator shaft avoiding" gene to any of its offspring, which would save their lives and prevent them from making the same mistake.

Instead, what evolutionists will have us believe, is that over millions and millions of years, when the odds are literally billions and trillions to one, eventually ONE dog will get the hypothetical "elevator shaft avoiding" mutation, which will give it an edge over other dogs. This is assuming that the dogs haven't all died off yet due to falling down elevator shafts after hundreds of millions of years.

And somehow, SOMEHOW evolution has achieved something that is about a million times more complex and intricate with humans and nature in general. Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture?

>>
you're fucking retarded the dog evolved from something else and that process took billions of years. Dog did not just come to be out of nowhere and have to evolve to not fall down sheer edges
>>
>>8445475

actually i just realized that this is bait, fuck you for taking up my time
>>
>>8445475
You're assuming the dogs don't commonly encounter these elevator shafts and only one dog sees them at a time. In reality, animals travel in groups and encounter their problems far more commonly, enough to provoke an evolutionary response, thus increasing the probability of the "elevator shaft avoidance" gene.

What determines whether an abstract "space" is geometric?

There are various types of spaces used in geometry, and so far the only common factor I can find is some notion of topology and descent.
27 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
is there even an agreed-upon definition of geometry in higher math?
algebraic ""geometry"" is like 50% commutative algebra with a few digressions to topological "geometry"
arithmetic "'geometry"" has literally no classical geometric interpretation
>>
>>8446219
>is there even an agreed-upon definition of geometry in higher math?

That's pretty much what I am asking.
>>
"Geometry" is based on the primitive notions of a "point or location in some space"

We need a new standard for measuring time.

Our current system of seconds/minutes/hours/days/weeks/years is fucking barbaric.
We have to make up some stupid bullshit like leap years, and leap seconds, because the system is so shitty since we tried to match the rotation of the earth along its axis (day) to the rotation around the sun (year).

Anyone agree or am I just retarded?
22 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8445330
Just because we have a leap year every 4 years, is that really a good enough reason to convert our entire system to something else?
>>
>>8445343
Yes because it's based off of days and years since it was the only way people were able to measure time historically. But now we have science, and better methods can be developed for measuring time. For example, the amount of time it takes for light to travel across X amount of Hydrogen atoms.

Anyone else tired of Tesla faggots sucking Nikola Tesla's decomposed dick and spreading misinformation about Thomas Edison?

>thomas edison never invented the lightbulb some unimportant faggot invented it before him!

Thomas Edison invented the first lightbulb that you could actually use in your home. All the previous "lightbulbs" were simply experimental designs that burned out after a few minutes.

>omg thomas edison was a meanie he electrocuted an elephant!!!

No. He never did this. This is an urban legend.
https://en..wikipedia.org/wiki/Topsy_(elephant)

>thomas edison was an evil man who was mean to nikola tesla!!!

No. He never gave a shit about Tesla. He only hired him once to work on DC current, then Tesla came up with the AC current and sold it to another businessman named George Westington. So Edison's real rival during the War of Currents was Westington, not Tesla.

>thomas edison stole credit from most of tesla's work!!!

No he didn't. Like I said, they only worked together once. He didn't care who he was nor did he give a single shit about him.

>AC currents beat DC currents in the end

Nope your computer, phone, and electronic devices charge with DC currents

After rectification from AC.

Edison was a businessman who took credit for the work of his employees. At best he was that era's Elon Musk.

"This letter, if judged by the novelty and profundity of ideas it contains, is perhaps the most substantial piece of writing in the whole literature of mankind."

I doubt you'll find anything of the sort outside of the forum of public debate.

Not every scientist is an consummate public speaker, they also tend to be very busy. They have no time to correct or inform someone who intends to use sophistry and misinformation to appropriate their own ends, nor could a scientist ever hope to change the mind of someone who thinks this way with factual articles.

It's just more efficient to ignore them and slap them down when they try to encroach.

Rosen's book is an amazing introduction to discrete maths. Of course it's not gonna be as in depth about each topic as a book that has the fucking topic as a title, but if you're interested in the field and want a quick overview of what the fields are roughly about it's a good book.

Do professors in large, nameless public universities purposefully choose shitty textbooks for their courses?

Why do they decide to assign readings from a shitty generic book published by Cengage Learning©™ for a real analysis class, when every other school assigns actually good books like Rudin or Apostol? Or a computer science professor assigning "C++ Programming for Literal Retards" instead of K&R? There surely must be a motive. And shitty students can't be an excuse. Brainlets shouldn't even be allowed in college in the first place. If they can't get through a course that uses a REAL textbook, then they should drop out.
