Last thread ended with a minor failure in an attempt to kill a myconid (fungal humanoid) that was growing strange tumors rapidly after being released into the Crystallid Hive

Within a mere few seconds of the strange sacs growth on the fungal beasts, your arm of crystal quickly reformed into a long razor-sharp edge, bringing it down through the medium sized of the three mushrooms. The spongey material of the myconids' flesh parted smoothly as the edge went through several intersecting lines across many sections - but in your attack you notice something.

The smaller myconid has gone completely immobile after avoiding the attacks of your guardians, whom joined the fight as fast as they could, but the small dog-like creature seemed made for speed, avoiding their attacks deftly.

You signal in star speech to not touch the beast, now covered in pustules to the point of being an unrecognizable mass of flesh within moments, but the Guardian's foot smashed through it.

For a moment the air was still.


The next you were slammed against the interior wall of the hive, blinding white light heat, and concentrated magical energy passing through your solid form, persisting for several seconds. Many small cracks formed in the thinner areas of your body, mainly the ends of your legs and arms. As the light fell away, you and your guardians slide down the wall.

The sound of the worker drones you had birthed earlier on clamored through the chamber as you regained composure, reforming your injuries to correctly move again. The center of the room was blackened with the sheer energy incinerating all non-crstallid organic matter, the myconids seemed incinerated, but both you, and your subjects were tacitly unharmed by the mostly-magical attack.

Curiously, you observe your own form, and notice a milky white light floating through your body in very clear lines, instinctually you recognize this as the absorption of raw mana, the kind caused by unrefined, very simple, but potentially massively destructive magic, depending of course on the quantity concentrated. As far as your memory served, the energy would remain until released through a yet-unknown means.

The workers set to repairing the cracks in the hive's shell near the very center of the explosion, where the smallest fungi, clearly some sort of suicidal weapon.
