Christianity is fucking stupid. It offers nothing on an intellectual level.
It was quite obviously designed to appease people on a psychological level. It's simple psychology. The whole "Virgin mother" thing? That comes from the fact that people like to imagine that their mothers are virgins. No one wants to imagine... what their mother had to do to become pregnant. :|
The whole Heavenly Father thing? That too is simple psychology. When you're a child you have a father watching over you. When you're an adult, you're on your own. It's scary. People like the idea of still having a Father figure watching over them as an adult.
It's fucking stupid. If you're an atheist like me, I urge you guys to check out Eastern religions. They offer MUCH more on an intellectual level. They will get you thinking, instead of appeasing your base psychological needs like Christianity.
