I did have some shit to do this afternoon, but I think I'm going to blow it off to go fishin. It's too nice outside and I have to go back to work tomorrow so I think fishin is going to be priority number one today.

Really over the "look at girls fishing" title images of women pretending to like fishing. I prefer the last threads stupid emoticon one to this.

90% of these hoes got paid to hold the fish or their husband forced them out there. Would much rather just look at a picture of lures, fish, or water than these bimbos.

Just FYI guys you can Google "boobies" and see all the naked women you want. You will never get a fisherwoman gf. Get over it. They don't like fishing and they will never understand it.

>muh girl like fishing

No she doesn't. She just likes you so she puts up with it the way you put up with her cunt mother and going shopping at bed bath and beyond.
>>
What a tease, it's about 47F, brought pupper for walk around pond. Can see trout rising in the center.
Rain coming and 50+ winds tomorrow.

Start off with my first pickerel again.

These light weighted tiny tubes have been responsible for so many fish lately.

I noticed heavier jigs fall through the cold water too fast, and I think all my strikes have been when the tube is slowly sinking.
>>
>>935424
Not long ago I saw a girl and her mom fishing at my local pond. They didn't take photos of what they caught and had a great time.

So that's funny.

Was the mom 900 pounds? Because they usually are. Fat girls always "love" hunting and fishing because it's the only way they can get men to talk them outside of being literal whores.

100% buddy. If you left her she would never be out there again. If her new boyfriend shot at gun ranges she would be there pretending to like that too.

Nope, white and looked in shape. Not sure why you're so upset lol. Did your mother not approve of your fishing hobby?

>>

already does like that. Goes with a few female friends of hers occasionally. But I'm sure your retort will be that she's got a bf on the side.
>>
>>935436
Some of them are actually girls that enjoy fishing. Additionally its just the thread theme to use hot girls in photoshoots to hide our amazing sexual desires of lmb succing our dicks
>>
>>935437
Fair enough but still. I have yet in my entire life to see a girl alone with a kitted out tackle bag fishing a coast, owning their own fishing boat, or on some golf course pond pitching for bass without a boyfriend or husband dragging her along.

Never. And I have fished all over this fucking country.

Same way I have never run into a woman I'm the woods with a compound bow trying to kill something for food without a man. Not even in the Midwest where fat girls can just sit in tree stands or blinds and wait for corn fed white tail to feed their corn fed fat asses.
>>
Well after I dumped $200 on brand new ice fishing shit it turns out there's not going to be ice this year

One of my co-workers went down to the shore on most weekends
Kayaked out to her favorite spot. And fished for stripers and blues.
Lures mostly but sometimes throwing eels
Not super kitted out on gear (actually really under geared) but she caught fish
Found this out when I texted her on the weekend and I was down at the shore and the bite was slow. And she said she was at the shore too
Turns out she was in the next town over in a spot I used to fish

Caught 28 speckled perch the other day in central FL. They are bedding good. All caught on cane poles and minnows around buggy whips.
>>
>>935484
I've always wondered how many people Ctually use their live well. Most people I know, at least, put them directly into an ice chest with ice. The prevailing theory, in my circles anyway, is something about the meat not being full of blood if you freeze them to death instead of just cutting the gills or something before cleaning.

I don't know how true that is.

I can see, I do see the merit in using a live well. You can keep fishing all day and toss back little ones after you limit. That right there would get me to use it if I owned a boat.
>>
>>935484
Nice. I'm gonna try to go crappie fishing for the first time in the next few weeks, there are a few lakes near me that a decent amount in them. I'll probably be trying a variety of minnows and jigs, the biggest issue will likely be finding them though. Water temps in the lakes around here are still in the 50's so I doubt the crappie are bedding down yet.
>>
>>935488
I grew up on crappie fishing (they call them sac au lait back home).

The biggest advice I can give is to reel in slowly and gently. They have thin mouths and will tear right off the hook.

Also, they love chartreuse tube jigs, but spook easy. Use as long a rod as you can.
>>
>>935484
>speckled perch

This is why people need to drop common names and use scientific names (Pomoxis annularis). Perch and crappie are not even in the same family let alone the same genus.

Well, if you're gonna go that route then We'll have to rename all the black basses as they're in the sunfish family and aren't "true bass".

Ok so how do i fish a fucking river?!

I cast upstream, and while reeling in, the line makes a U shape, and i reel the lure first perfectly downsteram, then it makes a U-turn, and then upstream towards me right next to the bank.

Sure this is okay for wobblers and poppers, but i ahve no clue what it does to softies i try to go deep with..
>>
>>935486
We fillet them while they are alive So the meat is some what tense, to relax the meat and get all the blood out just put it in a bowl of saltwater and put it in a fridge over night. Not over salted but just a little and itll relax the meat and take away some of the "fishy" taste that some people don't like.
>>
>>935500
Pitch into slow current or pools where they meet current.
>>
>>935500
Best way to do it is to get in the middle of the river and cast down into deep slow pools

I've had days where I walk up on a spot with 3 or 4 guys
Ask em if they've had luck and get no for an answer. Then I go upriver a ways
Wade down to the pool they're fishing. And hammer 3-4 trout
>>
>>935492
Thanks for the tips. I knew that they have really fragile mouths and that you've gotta be careful you don't rip the hook out. I'll probably be using 6'-7' light rods, it'd be nicer to have some longer rods just for crappie jigging but I don't feel like buying any right now when I've never even fished for them before.

You think that until your fishing license is taken away for poaching, simply because you used common names instead of scientific names, and mixed up fish specifics.
>>
Do you guys ask permission before fishing at like golf courses and shit?
>>
>>935616
Legally you should. Sometimes you need a special permit you pin to your shirt. If they say, "nope" then you move on to the next spot. If they say, "yes" then your golden, but if they would have said "yes" and you didn't ask, you will probably get "banned." It really depends on the gold course policy and the person you talk to. Sometimes there's a good reason not to be fishing, like no fish or special hazards.
>>
>>935616

I never do golf courses, but I like to "test the waters" when I go to new spots that are private property. Saturday afternoons and Sundays are the best to go to industrial and commercial area lakes because nobody is there. But the first time I will stay for like 20min just to see if anybody says anything, then next time maybe 45min or an hour, and after a few short trips without getting hassled then I will fish whenever I want and stay there all afternoon if I feel like it.

Do you catch a lot of Cynoscion nebulosus?

>golf course fishing

That's because they usually don't stock the water hazards. It takes a fair amount of money to stock a pond properly. You have to do it over the course of about 5 years building the food chain up from the bottom.

Personally, if I had a golf course, it'd have a shit load of water hazard ponds with nice fish structures in it and be fully stocked. People could fish or golf, but not on the same day of the week. Yes, the fishermen could use the golf carts on their fishing days.

I stocked my local muni course lake myself but use it as a casting pond. the ground keepers are cool. common carp, bluegill/red ear, cats, no bass yet, a few big goldfish koi. I added last march a mature oscar, a couple dozen convict cichlids, six red eared sliders and a foot long plecostomus because my tank got fucked up. it costs me about $10 a month in fish chow to feed them. funny thing is when I'm fly casting a lot of the golfers always say something and come over to talk and ask questions they act totally interested in fly fishing.

Its a relatively deep river, and we fish off the bank at the mouth of the river up to about 700m upstream from the actual tip of the bank at the mouth where it flows into the sea.

We fish for seabass with standard sea fishing lures, soft baits or wobblers, occasionally when bluefish are there, poppers too.

It's just incredibly annoying when it flows faster than usual, i just have NO clue what the lure is doing under the water, unless its a quality wobbler.

It was also an excuse given earlier in the thread, though. There is no species of perch that is called the Speckled Perch, it is solely a nickname for the Black Crappie. Scientific names are literally named for what the thing is. It is a descriptive name. Take "Pomoxis nigromaculatus" "Pomoxis" means "opercle sharp" as in the gills are covered in spines. "Nigr" means "Black," and "maculates" means spots or specks; Black specs. Pomoxis annularis on the other hand, "annularis" is "annu" meaning "nothing" or "lack of something" meaning the white in between and "laris" means "thief or burglar" and the fish has bars/strips on it like jail bars or the bars on a prisoner from the era when this was named.

Pomoxis nigromaculatus = Sharp-gilled black spotted fish (Black Crappie)
Pomoxis annularis = Sharp-gilled barred fish. (White Crappie)

They work much better than expected. Gander Mtn had a really weak selection but there were a few of the Flatt Shads left in the 66mm Extra Heavy so I reccommend them. Great little lures for launching into the wind.

I'm only really goin for largemouth with em tho so idk about other species. But I was expecting to lose way more fish than I have because of the weedless setup. Considering how heavy they are and the rocky dropoffs on so many of these lakes, it's probably a good tradeoff.

The one I lost wasn't even because of a snag. I was trying to launch the thing into the wind on 10lb braid and it got caught in the hook keeper and broke the line. Of course it was fucking SpiderWire too, probably wouldn't have happened if it were Power Pro in the same situation.

>>936240
Just remember those MirroLure suspending twitch baits aren't really like most suspensing jerk baits. They won't swim anything like an X-Rap on the retrieve so you really need to get the pause and twitch action down by working the rod.

>£6.99-£7.99 each!

shore jigging rods are different than boat jigging rods. the actions on shore jigging rods are fast and made to cast lures further. boat jigging rods are meant to drop vertically and typically have slower actions. shore jigging rods are stiffer and have a faster action than an average surf bait rod. theres a number of 10' "seabass" jigging rods available. most are japanese since thats where the fad has been happening. europe has a number of their own specific jigging type rods which are very nice but japan has a 10 year lead on all of the jigging methods these days. where about are you located?

id like a light ish one for bottom fishing or when tides arent ripping and id like a heavier one i can work diamond jigs up to a pound with

need to look into prices then try to figure out a good reel for them

ordering custom rods can be a bitch because id always like to go and handle rods myslf before buying them so i know i like them

asked employee for 10 ft of line and tied it to a jig i might be using to see if everything matched up alright and the rod would handle the jig size well

>>

Most of those are good lures, you need to know how and in what situations to use them though.

>>936470
Some good info, some not so good info.

>the best rubber worm colors are black for nighttime fishing and purple for daytime fishing

Black is best at night but choosing a color to use in the daytime depends on lots of things; what the fish are feeding on, whether it's sunny or cloudy, whether the water is clear or murky, etc. A general rule of thumb is to use lighter colors when the sun is shining brightly and darker colors in lower light situations but there isn't really one "go-to" lure color for fishing in the daytime. I personally don't use purple soft plastics very often, I like black, white, chartreuse, reds, browns, pinks, and combinations of those.

>use lightweight line -- 4-6 for perch & trout, 6-12 for larger fish

Depends on the fish species and whether or not they're "tackle shy". Catfish, for example, aren't really line or tackle shy so you can use heavy line and huge hooks and sinkers/floats without spooking them. Other fish are incredibly line/tackle shy.

>Avoid hooks bigger than size 10. The fish will notice them.

See above, hook size depends entirely on the species of fish that you're targeting.

ah.. bottom bouncing. so how you do that from shore with 1#bridgeports? have you played with the trevala line of rods? they arent custom but they are a good starting point for jigging light or heavy opposed to cu$tom wrapped. All the 'custom' rods Ive made and own Ive been able to bend prior. either at fittings with the wrapper or in home prior to wrap. its pretty easy to have your body specs (*not crappie related) like seat height and fore grip length to figure power band and drag pressures incurred most of the better wrappers will do this for you.

reels..for shore casting? or shore jigging? or jigging jigging? lol.. you fishin conventional of spin? If spin I would look into jig and pop instead of solely verticals. then you only need the one rod and reel for both actions. if you break it down and only buy the deep jigger then just make the retrieve rate around 30"- 40" that doesnt mean the reels ratio but line retrieval rate. big difference and its usually listed for jigging specific models.

in all, you might be better suited for short "standup" rods rather than "jigging blanks"
especially if youre solely bouncing diamond jigs which require no real jigging method.

Yes. They look odd, but perform correctly in the water. I had to tweak a few.

It has to do with material density, lip length & style, and weight. Wood is much denser than the typical hollow plastic body lures. Heavy dense hardwoods have less action than very light woods. That is why balsa wood is so popular. It takes some trial and error to get it just right. However, even a terrible bait that swerves to one side and/or lazily spins can be a magnet for fish even if it twists up your line. That's how some dying minnows look. You can even treat those "failures" as a type of jerkbait sometimes.

Those look good. I still really dislike the skirts on basically every inline aside from the natural squirrel tail Mepps. The colored ones (white, yellow, pink, black) are made of a thicker fiber that doesn't pulse like the natural brown and then Rooster Tail's feather dressed hooks aren't nearly as prominent and they tend to wear out quick.

Idk, those are rough. Last week I tried out this new lake that had like no vegetation, just a sandy bottom and we weren't getting shit. If you can find some weedd, go on the deep side of those.

But I have no clue what I'm doing in cold water anymore. I think those are the temps that you really want to cover some water so maybe get a Rat-L-Trap or something else that you can get some distance on and find the fish.
>>
>>936935

Tomorrow I may target pickerel in the canals. Mind cold water temps probably around 40.
Should I be fishing slow for them? The one I caught here >>935426 was on a mini tube going slowly.
Would appreciate some of the larger ones however. Would the larger ones still strike small lures, like 1 inchers?
Im thinking uping the size is a must?
Right now thinking about a pearl zoom fluke on a ewg with some steel leader that I want to use.

Also should I not bother with the areas away from the locks/dams on the canal?
>>

dont use steel leader, use 15 ln flouro, should be more than enough

Fuck that.

I only ever get smaller bass out of weeds anyway. But if I'm going for it, weedless hollow body frog or a Zoom Horny Toad with a 4/0 EWG and no weight. Otherwise I have rigged Zoom Lizards weightless and done well with those. 3/0 or 4/0 EWG and either steady retrieve or kinda walk it around on top of the weeds.

Yeah, Rooster Tails always lose their tails quickly for some odd reason. I think nearly have the design right. These use 2 feathers and I'm layering the crystal flashabou under and between them. When it is in use it looks like a free swimming octopus. Too bad the water clarity is only 5 inches right now in the pond I test lure action.

I have some theories about memecasters and line other than braid.

Feel free to call me a faggot and tell me I'm dumb.

1.) For practical, bass fishing casting distances, line size does not negatively effect the distance of your cast meaningfully. (Within reason of course I'm sure anything above ~20# will destroy your distance)

2.) Lighter line causes backlash easier. My theory is: since lighter line tends to have a lower memory than heavier line, the lighter line wants to "jump" off the spool more. Whereas heavier line wants to stay close to the spool, so it doesn't come off and loop as much.

This is moreso true when the line is new, but I've found it still be true even after the line has gotten a memory. I'm gonna test this out more bc all of this is from different reels, so it could be the way the reel acts.

3.) Rod and Reel make more of a difference in distance than line size. (Again within reason). I've come to this conclusion because if I take a 1/2 jig and throw it on my MH Blackout with the Revo STX and 20# power pro, it goes x distance.

If I take the same jig and put it on my Lews Mach II with 12lb copolymer it will go x+ 5 to 10 yards.

I believe this is because the Blackout has an extremely fast action, so the rod doesn't load up as much. The Lews has a little slower action, so it loads up the lure better and will outcast the Blackout.

Oh and that lews will absolutely launch a 1/2oz lipless crank. Shits cray.

>tfw you have more autism than skid
>>
>>937144
I always spooled up 12 lb Berkley xl smooth mono for throwing spoons for salmon in lake Michigan. I could launch a fucking 1oz kast master spoon comically far on a 7.5 or 8 foot rod.

Made all the 50 year old spinning reel fags mad and say "you don't have the power to reel in a salmon" then when I would get them in they said "uhh your lucky boy thing should have got off". I'm in my 20s. Sorry your shitty giant spinning reel with 50lb braid on a 5.5 foot catfish pole broom stick tosses a spoon 20 yards.

Fucking tards. I had a Shimano 300E Curado. The biggest spool one. I had tons of line and smooth drag. Caught all types of salmonids from a few pounds to 20 pounds or so.

More cast distance = more spoon in water over time.

Meme casters are great for salmon when throwing spoons and heavy lipless cranks during the runs.

I could even toss half oz cleo spoons fucking far. Kasmasters launch stupid far though man. They are basically a metal rod.

On smaller bait casters I can literally cast the entirety of the line off the reel with a 1oz kastmaster.

You could kill stuff on the coast in bays doing the same thing but I would probably use heavy braid if I was in salt.

>tfw no more salmon because arizona
>>
>>937166
BTW I used Berkley xl smooth cast because a 1000 yard spool is cheap and it ties improved fisherman's clinch knots very well.

I wish I had money for some super meme line but I changed line out on the reel like every 2 weeks. I would cast well over 1000 times each day fishing spoons so the stuff would wear out. If you don't change it and retie knots and clip the top 10 feet of line throughout the day to retie you will start breaking your lure off on the launch/cast at or around the knot.
>>
>>937168
is the line actually that cheap? ive seen it listed online and assumed it was a typo
>>
>>937168
>>937166
I guess my point is that lure wight and rod length matter more. I used medium or medium heavy rods with a fast action tip. 8 to 7 feet. I'm also in shape, not a manlet, and don't have girl arms so that helpe. If your man tits get in the way you can't cast as far. Same reason why fat fucks can't golf/tee off as well as slim dudes. No articulation to get the torque and load the rod up.

I regularly break lures off casting if I used a medium slow or medium fast action tip. I load it up too hard and kiss crank baits goodbye so I have to remember not to throw so hard. Slower action rods are needed to not rip treble hooks out of lips on lipped cranks imo.

>TL;DR - AUTISM
>>
>>937171
I would get it cheap at my local place. 1000 yards for like 18.99 or so. I haven't bought it in a while as AZ has lots of clear water so I use fluorocarbon these days a lot. Not for top water obviously but yeah my top water rod has that Berkley on it.
>>
>>937173
The Berkley mono is good quality too compared to cheaper budget lines like Andy or whatever has that marlin on it and is spooled on a fucking sewing string center basically lol

I made a few non-female-poser thread OP images. Instead of spamming the thread with them, I put them in a rar file. Use winzip or 7-zip or winrar or whatever to open:

>FishingThreads.rar
>4.69 MB
https://www.mediafire.com/?x3vgx5tdov435bv

Basically, they show the fish predominantly with high contrast text for easy recognizing in the catalog.

That's terrible dude you just wash cars? How much money do you make?

Or are you a car salesman who just washes cars when nothing is going on?
>>
>>937426
This pleases me

Yeee, black fury or gold blade with the natural tail
>>

>I get to do cool stuff sometimes
>car dealership

I had a friend who worked as a car salesmen (he's now a preacher; irony.) I'm not sure what "cool stuff" happens at a dealership.

Jerking off other fat BBQ Americans in Texas is probably the height of the fun stuff going on. He occasionally may be lot boy and move sports cars around. It sounds like a job an 18 year old would have in the summer between classes.

I hope he's not like 25.

Don't downplay someone's job. Level of pay and job are not something you should tease or vilify. Doing so creates a vicious cycle of discontent and revolving door status among those jobs. It is another reason why foreigners take so many jobs in the USA. Americans think they are "above" those types of jobs and when they work those jobs they do not respect the job. Thus, they quit or get fired and someone with an entirely different cultural view of working takes there place and does far better.

Lol dude calm down just because you work at McDonald's doesn't mean it's a good thing. A job like that should be a stepping stone for someone to a better place.

You nigs need to go to trade school or something. Stop wiping chrome down and stocking shelves.

Imagine how much more fishing bulls hit you could buy with another 30k to 50k a year starting after 2 years of trade school.

Unless you dumb fucks are convicted felons or drug addicts you can find better jobs.

No one here has a boat that I have seen man.

>what am I doing?
>trade school
>>
>>937443
I'm retired, but thanks for playing.

>I'm in trade school.

I hope your attitude isn't correlative to trade school, kid.
>>
>>937446
Lol what are you talking about you baby boomer retard? That's your response? Really?

Can't wait till they take social security away.

Nah, those are merchandisers

My go-to is still gold or silver blade with the natural brown skirt. Black Furies are meant for dark or really murky water. They run a little deeper and make more noise.

>>937426
That's not sexy.

I mean yeah basically. I'll also take customers back to their house/pick them up stuff like that. It's insanely easy and laid back and I get$12/hr so. I'll get a real job one day I'm trying to enjoy my youth.

>>937437
I'm on the companies pit crew for the race car so I get paid overtime to go to races.

>>937439
Europoor pls go and stay go. I probably take home more monies than u since all yours goes to paying for """""refugees""""""
>>
>>937377
I work at a fish hatchery
Then do odd jobs at a farm and for a landscaping company /tree removal company for extra cash
>>
>>937355

I finally snapped at work after an argument led to someone spitting on me and me strangling them until my hands were pried from around their neck. No previous history of violence.

Bad part? I'm on leave until further notice and plan on seeing a therapist.

Good news? Lots off time off for work for fishing.

Seriously though. Fuck work.
