Anyone know what would cause a carbed bike to be unable to do keybangers? I'm using the exact same method that works for my other bike but i dont get any pop at all when i flip the killswitch back on.
Could it be the exhaust leaks making the mixture in my pipes too lean?

>“After all these years, it’s really validating to finally see movies where a guy launches his Kawasaki Ninja H2R off a bridge, lands it cleanly atop a train speeding toward Tokyo at 200 mph, and then disconnects the passenger cars right before the engine explodes,” said local man Jake Champney, 35, adding that he was grateful his children will be able to grow up watching films in which a person leaps from a train at the last possible second to escape the ball of flame erupting behind him. “Representation is so important. When I was a kid, it felt as if no one cared about the experiences of the guy who was clinging to the landing skids of an airborne helicopter or inching his way along the bottom of a moving semi truck and up toward the cab. Thankfully we’ve made a lot of progress since then.”

I've never ridden a WR. Weight is about the same but DR350SE's have meh suspension. Power wise, the 350 will have more torque down low. Even with the stock street gearing, it'll still chug up hills.
It's not nearly as polished and modern as the WR but it's a hell of a lot cheaper and still a versatile bike. Throw it around in the woods, sumo it, or go touring. You can add a kicker to electric models if you want, too.
Really just a poor man's DRZ but still a great bike in its own way

The DR350 is the much better all rounder: can be loaded up for travel, has legs on the highway, and makes its power much lower down (so you can lug it off road). But of course it's much heavier.

The WR is the better fast trail bike.

The 350s with the adjustable cartridge forks (the dirt and later steet models) are pretty good. They're a wash with the DRZ, and worlds better than the 650 dual sports.

The DRZ was a step backwards in most respects. Can't wait for Suzuki to replace that with something hopefully more in the spirit of the 350 (I.e. 6-speed, tach, ditch the shim valves)

DR650 is better in literally every respect once you put a safari tank on it.

But it depends where you're going. If you're adventuring in the first world than the DR650. If you're going to the third world then look for a DR350 for a poorfag bike (or a CRF250L for something new).

Alright I've been becoming a bit more curious lately so I might as well go full blown gay. I sold my dirt bike and an looking for a street bike. I've never been interested owning anything I have to pay insurance for and ride on a road with you know... rules and shit. But I've been thinking lately it would be pretty nice to take a light night ride here and be able to ride all year long being that I'm in South Florida. But I honestly know fuck all about road bikes. Say I'm looking for a 2007 gsxr 600 or 750 I don't even know what is a good price how many miles are too many (miles? What are those) and most importantly what to look at when buying a used bike. Pretty much every road bike ad seems like a scam y all seem shiesty. And that's coming from someone who rides dirt bikes... which are stolen and ridden illegally by thug life wheelie boys all the time.

The XR is neat in theory: being dry sump air cooled is like a big DR350. But the XR is STUPID tall - don't even try to ride one if you're not over 6 feet - plus it really needs an oil cooler like the DR650 because the XRs overheat (something which isn't an issue on the 350 for whatever reason).

I wonder if the XR couldn't be fixed by lowering it with longer links and sliding the tubes up (it's got plenty of clearance to spare) and adding an oil cooler, but then you've basically just made a DR650. Easier to just start with a DR and put decent forks on it.
>>
>>17687891

I would be vary wary of a $1k Ninja. Stolen, or fucked up and he's trying to pass it off as fine. If you want to chance it, only agree to meet in a neutral location, like a restaurant parking lot where you know people will be around. Bring a mechanically inclined friend to check it over.

Most likely just a fucking scam though. I wouldn't.

Oh god, people still do this?
(googles...)
"ND4's fork mod" -- it's a grom thing. Add a spacer to the damper rod to make the fork extend farther and give it more travel.

This is really an OLD trick, goes back to the '70's at least. The downside is that at full top out there is less fork tume in the slider, so it is not as stiff/strong. But for a lot of bikes the tradeoff is worth it. In Pic, the longer bolt and spacer is upper left.

what happens if you ride a bike on the beach and keep it?
I remember I rode my KTM 690 E on the beach a few times and sold it within 2 years (after a few engine rebuilds under warranty).
I was concerned amongst things that the sand got everywhere. Like even putting the side stand up and down or using the indicators was effected by the sand. I can't imagine they would age well.

I'm thinking about buying a dual sport or enduro specifically for riding in the winter since I dont have a car and cant afford one anyway, is this a bad idea? I'm in northern Ohio so the weather doesnt get really terrible but it can snow quite a bit.

Ive also heard that mopeds or scooters can handle the winter pretty easily.

where I live in Australia it gets down to about 18 degrees in the winter.
Here you can ride year around. I had no car for about 2 years. I don't think i'd have a motorbike in a place I couldn't ride it all the time.
>>
>>17688456
Don't, or at least if you do, only ride when sun is out. Consider that when white shit is in process of falling on you, it sticks to helmet face shield. Black ice matters. Also, don't highway.

I've mentioned few threads ago, combination of late night, urging freeway traffic and falling snow almost killed me once. Just over fucking up and opening face shield at 60 mph after I tired wiping snow from helmet with my wet glove and worried about my numb fingers.

Do you just regurgitate any shit you hear or are you just trolling. Vaguely what you say is right but being vague is not fact is it now... Do a little research on basic two stroke principals and you will understand. Why would a manufacturer use rubber seals that are going to stop sealing if petrol comes in contact.. See how the 'intake' is separate from 'all the bearings and seal's in the trans...

Honda's ranks as so
AT>NC series>VFR
With the upcomining hybrid, selfdriving goldwing likely to be the best yet

Many of its criticisms come from the NC series actually trying to kill you mid corner
The VFR on the other end had ridiculously aggressive gearchanges
As in you could actually wheelie the thing (250kg) by shifting

The Africa twin has had a couple of instances where it bucked off a rider by misshifting

TL;dr It's an honda, it will occasionally fuck up a shift, but when it will you won't have a manual clutch override to save your ass

My bike started leaking oil from transmission, not from the bottom, but I think somewhere from the back.

Unfortunately I am abroad and cannot really disassemble it myself and change the sealing, and also have to drive about 1500km back home.

The leak is not that bad, the oil level barely changed, but I'd be happier if I could somehow seal it with something. Is it possible to put some engine sealing over there to prevent it, as a temporary fix anyway? If so, which is the best.

I mean, hanging off on public roads is kind of pointless and counter-leaning _can_ be helpful in certain conditions but apart from that they've got it spot on.
I also noticed how knowing things and actually incorporating them into your riding style are two different things. I _knew_ as a beginner that you should grip the tank and keep your arms relaxed especially mid-corner, but it took a year until I noticed that I was actually very tight on the bars. I started consciously gripping the tank in corners and supporting my torso with my core instead of the arms and lo and behold, suddenly those corners that were scary at 70 are a piece of cake at 90.

Aren't givi cases universal? Only the brackets are bike specific, and at $100+ a bracket you could just take a template for the mounting plate and your bike to a welder and get custom ones done cheaper. It's just a bent metal tube stamped flat in a few places where it bolts to the bike with the mounting plate on one side.

A proper girder front or hub steering is better and lighter and all modern shaft drives have an anti jack
Which is asShame, because the whole jacking business was what i loved the most of shaft drives

Plus old BMW is plenty reliable, just avoid modern stuff

ride a GSXR. now you only need a helmet, gloves, and flip flops, maybe a jacket. all of that can be carried with you 24/7.

or ride a bike with a giant locking trunk you can stuff a onesie in.
>>
>>17689926
What about the jacket though? Without the helmet the jacket makes people think "wow look at that jackass in that edgy jacket" instead of "oh it's a motorcycle jacket"

Still looks a bit of a mess of different style to me, but it's certainly better. Makes me wonder if I could modify a standard fork setup to HCS, but it's probably cost prohibitive until the big boys start doing it to mass production bikes.
>>

>what the fug? actual problem or EFI nanny magic?

What make/model? I vaguely remember the 2016 S1000RRs had a retard failsafe that won't let you rev it out in neutral until you're above 70 degrees.
>>
>>17689935
I put my gloves in my helmet and then carry my jacket in the same hand as my helmet. I usually take off my jacket as soon as I'm done riding because lol too sweaty.
>>

>What about the jacket though?

Unless you commute on the freeway, how much road rash do you really think you're looking at?

I'll have to check the aftermarket when I eventually look into actually buying a liter sports tourer. The GSX's passenger seat looks very narrow and flimsy, I can't imagine strapping a big drybag on there or attaching a top case 2bh.
>>
>>17689962

Let's be real here, the K5 engine was absolutely worth copying. People retrofit k motors into L frames.
>>
>>17689964
the passenger seat is rated for carrying fat bitches. you'll be fine.
>>
>>17689935
Carry it around, who gives a shit if people think you have an edgy jacket?
I can somewhat understand not wearing bike pants, they're too warm to wear all day and cumbersome to carry (though I still do that because I hate riding pants-less) but all other gear is easily carried.
Alternatively suck up to a professor or lab guy who'll lock your shit in his office, rent a locker (some places may let you rent for a longer time and charge you less for it) or squid.

Now if the poster that complained about the valves (mine are in spec) rides something that makes you suffer when you try to remove valve cover, or worse, covers, that's a different case.

should I keep knobbies on my DR650 or get street tires?
gonna be going to uni in norcal, mostly scooting around campus. it rains frequently, and I had a spill for the first time in my life after 4 years of riding a few months ago on knobbies after a rain whilst turning right

im super scared of cornering on my DR now. on my SV it's no problem, but I just about walk it through corners on the knobbies. even slight turns in the road I downshift so that I dont have to lean the bike over at all. just feeling the knobbies on the side makes me nervous, like one of the knobs is going to lose traction and throw me off at 45mph
>>
>>17690194

Don't tailgate, be courteous, be patient. Like walking on the footpath. The people that bleed aggro on the road inevitably meet someone angrier and tougher than them. Doesn't end well.
>>

I wear a hoodie with a kevlar lining, it has pouches to place padding in it but I usually ride without it so I can wear the hoodie as a regular one without looking like a tool. Basically I carry a duffel bagand stuff my hoodie and boots in it and carry my helmet and gloves in my hand. Looking to get some casual style riding boots that look a lot like all stars so I don't have to lug my boots around cos they're heavy as shit.

Knobbies are really bad in the rain. On dry pavement they're not too bad though. Once you get used to the knobs flexing you will see they aren't suddenly losing grip

>>17690238
This. If your valves are shim under bucket like most modern dohc bikes then you only have to worry about them getting tighter, which makes them quieter.

Thinking of building something akin to pic related. A bike that I pull indoors when not in use. Estimated build cost at around 700 total with 60 hours build time (custom is cheaper).

Fat tire electric motor back wheel style with the new gear crank internal system.

>from gears to barely moving to hard to pedal downhill
Assisted motor boost from a standard 35mph could get up to 55mph. Still under moped insurance/liability etc. Cheap shit.

Not sure of this part but it will be the basis of the frame and part kit. I'm fairly certain I will need modified spoke wheels since the motor rear wheel doesn't come for the fit of a fat tire since they all put the motor on the frame. Build kits come with just the tire, wires and back mounts.

So bros, is it just better to get a cycle build and run with the (slightly) higher insurance and not bring it indoors? I rather do townie and off road with all of this and motorcycles around here are prohibited off road.
