cut the plug off, strip the cable and crimp on those bullet connectors that came with the number plate light, then you can plug it in

I want a bike that's fun to ride in the twisties.

By fun I just mean not a heavy pig, I don't mean a bike that chases down modern cbrs.

I also want something that I can customise like a harley but not something that's just a highway cruiser.

I don't really see any alternative other than cafe racers.

When people try to customise modern sports bikes it ends up looking terrible so a 80's or old sport, or standard bike seems to be the best choice.

I firmly believe everyone's first bike should be a standard
It's the basic form of a motorbike, it'll let you discover what you actually like in a bike and what you can't stand

Cruisers have no ground clearance and forward/mid controls, which make them pretty much useless to lean

Muscle cruisers are basically a big engine in a shitty frame, go fast in a straight line, but not much else

If you want to look dumb just go full bozo

After several years of R & D, with eighty nine different riders consisting of professional motorcycle and car racers, prominent bike enthusiasts, engineers, journalists and regular Sunday riders to help develop the bikes through test rides along with Gurney's busy schedule running a team, six different prototype configurations all have logged thousands of miles before Gurney and his team decided on a sixth evolution, the A-6 with full fairing to be launched in 2002 with an intention to build no more than 36 as it was the number that appeared on the Eagle-Weslake Formula One racer which won the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix. The bike is then made available to consumers for $35,000, considering its price, beside its rare nature of the bike with a carbon fiber body over a chromoly frame powered by a 70 horsepower (52 kW) single-cylinder 710 cc Honda which is capable of 140 mph (230 km/h) and 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds."

yes, but the 4 pin version. basically the + and - side hook up as normal, but for the signal side i just combined the primary and advancer pickups (primary is the base timing, advancer starts making a stronger signal the faster the engine is spinning to overpower the primary signal and advance the timing) into one pin so the signal goes in the pin and out the module ground, then the kill switch grounds the other signal pin to give it an easier path to ground and stop the module from firing.

It's a vtr250. I think the US got its predecessor in the form of the spada? Same shit but 10 years older and with fairings.

I rode a gpx250 recently and the honda trashes it. You have to keep the revs up on these little engines, and the parallel twin just vibrates the whole bike in an nasty, unabalanced way. The honda V twin has good vibes and sounds way better.
>>
>>17579829
>A lot more comfy

V fours are interesting but that's about it. Imagine working on the bike you find off craigslist.
>intake boots probably hard as fuck by now
>4x carbs nestled into each other
>16 shim type lifters rammed against the radiator and frame rails
>budget/expect to replace every rubber hose

It's like a standard except with worse handling and ground clearance, mediocre brakes, big dive from the skinny, raked out forks, heavier weight, and greater complexity.
>>
>>17579850
For real. The opinions of others are worthless if you like it. I ride a motard and that makes people mad for some reason, but i love it more than any bike that I've ever rode as long as i keep it off the highway.

I don't actually. If someone is going to assume that about you just because of your bike then their opinions don't mean much.

Why do you have to shit up every thread asking about "cafe racers". Get any bike, Chuck a shit Chinese tan leather seat on it, some bar end mirrors, terrible handlebars, shitty paint and tell your friends it's a cafe racer. That's all there is to it.

Google any bike and put "cafe racer" after the name and some shitter will turn up. Example.
>>
>>17579873
Then why do you need validation?
>>

Yeah, I think I would get one that's already done and change it to my taste or buy a bike that's seen better days.

Doesn't make much sense to buy an original immaculate to cafe racerise. It's a waste of money.
>>
>>17579854
no prob anon. i actually got the idea from a suzuki forum (because i also picked up an 82 gs450 with the honda) and they use a pair of hei modules to replace their ignitor boxes when they die (dual coil). honda only needs one because its single coil so the spark goes in one plug, across the gap, through the block, across the other gap, then up the plug and back into the coil.
>another fun fact: i actually used a hei module and car coil and battery to give a go kart engine electronic ignition using the low voltage part of the ignition coil as the trigger

suzuki bandit 1200 pros and cons:

pros:
>hand-of-god torque
>super simple and accessible engine
>ultra reliable
>ultra practical for carrying people and things
>half fairing a best

cons:
>4 cylinders are boring as fuck
>mediocre suspension and brakes
>chain drive is a pain in the ass

Is there a twin or triple I can replace this with? All I can come up with would be a big guzzi or maybe an airhead. But both of those will be less reliable and harder to work on.
>>
>>17579908
If they put a hipster with tattoos on it with an open faced helmet and Instagram filters you'd want it. You've been wired to buy things that are trending or in fashion. It's not your fault. Even when faced with logic and facts you keep making excuses as to why you like something less practical.

We could make a list of pros and cons which basic bitches find useful because it's so easy to identify the better option...you'd still pick and old cafe racer.

Go get one. It would take literally 1 hour to turn any bike into a cafe racer and you could do it with $150 of parts. Stop asking for advice you don't want or need.

I had a gs1200ss (there's a bunch of picks another Anon posted at the top of the thread) which is really just a different style 1200 bandit made for jdm. I loved it. Full Yoshi set up and a tune and it power wheelied in 3rd gear. I had that for 40,000ks (60,000 to 100,000) and literally didn't have to replace anything except maintenance. I loved it but ended up getting a gsxr since I wanted something newer and got a little sick of carbs in the winter.

A big lazy streetbike that rarely cracks 6000 rpm - sounds boring as fuck. Twins sound better at low revs where they can just thump away.

Well I love the power of an inline but admit a twin can sound great, V-4's and crossplanes too...some of my bigger twins sounded titties. But I haven't found anything that makes my dick hard like a big cc inline at full scream. I don't see much sense in only using a small portion of a bikes rpm band. I would routinely bang the limiter on all the bikes I have owned it's just a question of where to do it relatively safely. Maybe if I only rode it stoplight to stoplight in congested areas I would feel different.

Yes or no question.

Would a honda magna handle as well as a honda cb500 four cafe racer?

If it doesn't I don't really want it.
>>
>>17580103
Yeah it's all in the calibration of the engine though. And gearing. If you want to wind the bandit out, first gear tops out around 60mph, 2nd gear you're breaking any speed limit around. Like the motor doesn't lend itself to high revs anyway, there's no extra power in the last 3000 revs to redline so you're just turning fuel into more noise.

It's much more realistic to rev the fuck out of a 500-600cc bike with short gearing and a peaky powerband. To really wind out a liter plus touring bike, you need to be doing 80mph plus on a country road, which I only do like once a month if that.

Also twins sound shit at high revs IMO, they all sound strained and choppy AF.
