If not, is there a product that can wash all-surface? I don't mind washing it by hand but I dont wan't to buy too much products.

What's the most reliable, dependable, robust, easy-to-maintain, bulletproof 125 out there? Looking to buy a 125 motorbike (no scooters, sorry) for a business and it has to be bombproof. It will be getting crash bars and anything else I can think of to protect it.

I'm thinking pic related but open to suggestions

Don't make excuses. Trust your tires, develop feel and learn to get low.
Nice bike. Make it happy.

>>17575801
Just hand wash, it doesn't take long. Regular car soap works fine on fairings, frame, engine, all parts.
Wash the body first and then use a separate cloth soaked kerosene to scrub the wheels and chain areas with grime then hose off kerosene and wash same areas with soapy water with the same cloth. Do not contaminate the cloth used for paint with dirty water used to clean wheels etc.

I don't like the high pressure washer on anything painted but it probably doesn't hurt too much. carefully for stickers

needed: 2 cloths, optional scotch scrubber for thick grime
bottle of detergent/soap, bottle of kerosene
bucket
water

Rapid acceleration at first gear.

Honestly, I did not expect this. People call it "The Beast" like it's gonna kill you if you look at it funny, but it was easy to cruise in traffic and the throttle was smooth as butter.

Sure, if you gun it the front wheel will come up just from sheer power (I never popped a wheelie before desu) but even that is not scary. The whole bike just gives you so much confidence.

If you ever get the chance to ride one, do it.

lel money is hardly the issue... Besides I live in a SE asian country where the fucking tax laws punishes everything above 250cc severely.

>>

How much do you think a custom engine would be?
I was thinking ~700 to 750cc twin wankel rotor.
There's a shop near me that rebuilds rx engines and they've made some 3 and 4 rotors for some guys before.
Think i could get it for less than 10 grand?

Replace the shaft the bearing is connected to? More than likely the shaft has worn and caused the bearing to wear too.

Unless you're hellbent on buying a new engine

First, watch for the 300% rule. That's where they try to sell 100% of the dealer's products to 100% of the customers 100% of the time. So options, extended warranties, up-front maintenance plans. Customers will negotiate the hell out of the price of the vehicle and then add these over-priced extras without a fight.

Second, you should already know what you can do for financing. You should have talked to banks already so you know whether or not you're getting a good interest rate.

Third, negotiate the price of the bike WITHOUT discussing how it will be paid. Get the price of the bike (the "out the door" price) to the lowest point you think you can and then talk financing. If you don't, they will ask what your budget is and then play with the interest rate and length of the loan to fit your budget, but not the price of the bike.

For example, let's say the bike is $5,000 and your interest rate is 7%. For a 48-month loan that is $119/mo. But you tell them your budget is $100/mo. They then change the loan term to 60 months and your payment goes down to $98.

If you knew how to calculate the monthly loan amount, you would have realized that if you got the bike price to $4,200, you could still have had a 48-month payment at $100.

Remote motorcycle immobilziers. Standard on all new bikes. The second part of the equation will be a police-only device, of course, but, of course, someone else will always get ahold of one.

Middleweight ADV bikes are literally the best shit for the job. They're popular for a goddamn reason. F650, KLR650, etc.

Your post is like asking what bike is best for riding on canyon roads like they're racetracks but saying "no sportbikes". Yeah, you'll make some cheap shit naked work as well as a sportbike after spending a grand or two in suspension setup so it doesn't bottom out and bust the oil pan under hard braking. But why not get the right bike for the job?

Also, cruisers are never the right bike for the job performance wise, while ADV bikes are literally what you're asking for. Light offroading on camp trails and shit and highway tours.

>>17577709
Your right hand is giving you bad mpgs.
Don't ride it like japscrap, 3k rpm is more than enough.
>>
>>17577774
hmm its a 1200, maybe its normal to get crap mpg no matter what on that size of engine? Trust me I am really babying the throttle, crusing in highest gear possible and not accelerating from a stop like a madman.

>>17577769
its fuel injected rather than carbed
>>
>>17577791
>its fuel injected rather than carbed
right the computers fuel consumption computer may need to be adjusted
>>
>>17577218

Solder and shrink tubing my good man. It's not hard and will last forever. I'm sure Youtube has a ton of how to vids to ease your trepidation.
>>
>>17577791
33mpg sounds a bit much, should be around 40mpg.
Maybe going too low in the revs.
>>
>>17577820
For god's sake, remember to put the shrink tubing on before you solder.
>>
>>17577822
oh you think I should actually rev it a bit more? Because I am cruising around town in 4th or 5th and the engine does shudder a little.
>>
Sup /dbg/. When i was a kid i had a field bike, this was before smartphones so i havent got a picture of it however i remember my dad or my grandad (who originally sourced it) saying it was a "russian regent". All i remember from it:

>125cc
>no battery, had to kick it to build up a charge
>old, fucking heavy
>literally no markings anywhere
>exhaust was on the left instead of the right

bit of research online and it might have been a Minsk, possibly a MMVZ-113. Does anyone know of a bike that might have been referred to as a regent?
>>
>>17577836
>engine shudders
>on a 1200

Holy hell, are you riding it at like 1500rpm?
Normal riding is 3-4k, shifting at like 4-5k.
>>
>>17577791
I've got a 900cc that averages 60mpg, and previously had a 500cc that averaged 53 mpg. The characteristics of the engine play a large role.
>>
>>17577842
also the "heavy" comment might have been because i was 12 years old in all fairness.
>>
>>17577842
Minsk is Regent.

So my guess is a Minsk 125
>>
>>17577850
BMW Boxers drink fuel like it's free. On long rides <100km/h it will reach 45mpg, but normally they'll be around 40mpg.
>>
>>17577849
yeah I generally keep it at about 2k. Is that bad?

It is a boxer twin so its not a high revving bike.

>>17577873
yeah I got an R1200R. So they are thirsty engines after all?

>>
>>17577890
2k is too low, try to keep it above 2,5k. They should be smooth.

Yes, boxers are thirsty. You're shouldn't be using oil though, which the older models did too.

still though, I should be getting 40mpg, not 33-35. It was sat untouched the showroom for about 6 months, it ha a thick layer of dust on it.
>>
>>17577919
shift more. 50 mph =6th gear
>>
>>17577919
It will not get 40mpg when you're not giving it enough revs. It's basically just pouring in extra fuel to get enough power to keep the engine turning.
After riding it a bit more it, the mpg should go up.

>>17577933
He's actually over shifting, sounds like he's in 6th at 30mph.
>>
>>17577890
You should be getting around 40mpg. I would roll like the other anons and run it 2.5k-4 rpm for best gas mileage. My dad's moto guzzi griso is an 1100 and gets around 45mpg.
>>
>>17577933
yeah I am doing that, 30mph = 4th, 40mph = 5th and 50mph+ is 6th.
>>
i live @ 8000 ft. probably limiting my engine's efficiency, no?
>>
Why do people buy stebel horns? Can I not just use a $10 car horn? Looking at swapping over since the one that comes stock on the new gsxr sounds like a moped horn.

PLS HELP.

So I was wondering, assuming you don't have a shit bike, what do people use for track insurance? If I total my bike on the track what the fuck do I do?
>>
>>17577975
>poor people being mad cuz lol no money to waste
>>
>>17577899
I bet that thing is fucking dangerous to ride.
>>
>>17577982
>If I total my bike on the track what the fuck do I do?
thats why you don't do it unless you are really really experienced or have a lot of money.
>>
>>17577993
I bet you're a huge pussy
>>
>>17577997
This is fuckin horse shit, I guess road racing it is.
>>
>>17577982
Do you live in America? Cause you guys get ripped off for insurance, but I'm assuming your insurance covers the fact you all sue each other any chance you can? I did some online quotes for a laugh and if I lived in America it would cost me 5x the amount to insure my new gsxr.
Where I live there's a insurer dedicated to motorcycles that I use (and when I made a claim they were brilliant). They do track day cover. Costs $45 for a day, and excess goes up $250 for the day if you do crash. Worth it for me.

>>17577986
I'm not poor. And hence not an idiot.
>>
>>17578048
Da fuck you mean? My insurance is cheap as fuck
>>
>>17577262

rode all over, had another guy with a white DRZ start following me but I never stopped because I was a dehydrated autist who just was trying to find water. Better run into that jabroni again
>>
>>17578068
How much is your cover for a year? And what bike. I'll do an online quotes where I live and tell you how much I'd pay in usd
>>
>>17578048
God bless
>>
>>17578084
not him but I paid £350 for a year for my R1200R.
>>
>>17578090
What year. Value insured for?
>>
>>17578098
2006, £3995.

Thats what poor people actually think
>>
>mismatch tires
>front tendies come out smaller than rear after a hard toe gay run
Interesting. I've never experienced this before.

>>17578106
My 2017 gsx-r which is insured for over twice your bike costs 310 pounds a year.

I'm trying to work up the energy to replace my crankcase cover case it finally came in.
But my tire which was supposed to come in tuesday, then got lost by fedex, then was supposed to be here today by ups, but ups is understaffed, so it got delayed a city over.
My wheel is off already, so I can't even ride the bike.
Then I spent most of today standing in a field in 90 degree heat in what's essentially a wool cap.
I just want to get really drunk, but I want to fix my bike. It's quite the dilemma.

How's your friday /dbt/?
>>
>>17578226

>>17578252
You think I wouldn't do that if I could.
Plan was to have the tire done on tuesday, and the cover replaced today. But since I got fucked on the tire...
>>
>>17578241
Hunnit bucks and a few days waiting gets you everything you need

Or grab the nearest chainsaw and a bottle of whiskey and say a prayer
>>
>>17578271
Not the waiting type.
If I was at my grandparents place, I'd definitely do this.
We have a rather decent garage there, and enough junk to make this possible.
I'd use my moms bike from the 70's with the banana seat for max comfort.
>>
>>17576547
Made my bike licence (German) on that shitbike. The most unreliable shit I ever drove. Even my 500€-16Preowner-GS500E was more reliable than that nighmare. On good days only the lights didn't work, on bad days the ABS misfunctioned while practicing emergency brakes. The bike did a Stoppi and threw me over.
The motor is okay, weak and with a gnarly sound, but you can't kill it, I assume. But the electrics of this piece of shit is terrible.
And did I mention, that it is the most ugly thing under the surface of the sun?
Who thought it would look better in that orange-gold-color?
