New VFRs are fucking sexy but I can't justify spending the money on one when it's no more a tourer than a sportbike with panniers and risers tacked on and a worse sportbike than, you know, a sportbike.

Also they're a PITA to work on compared to other faired bikes, DIY difficulties or shop fees, whichever you choose

>>
>>17553788
it depends on how you have the accident

if you're trying to be rossi you get back up and say "oh that's what happens when you do that and this...ow, better not do that again. thinking back that really destabillized the chassis, the bike didn't feel right"

if the bike seems to magically fall out from under you and you didn't get any feedback while it was happening you think "i don't have any talent for riding, bikes are strangle animals and i will only kill myself by sticking with this. i don't know what happened i just broke a bunch of bones!"

>>
>>17553756
Cruisercuck reporting in; I use the passenger backrest upright like a mannequin head. If I'm parking I'll just set it on there, and if I'm riding with a spare helmet to go pick up a friend I'll secure it on the upright as though it was a head. If I'm riding two up and we stop somewhere one helmet goes on the backrest like usual and the other goes on the end of a handlebar.

>>

See, I just don't trust people not to steal my shit. I've gotten in the habit of bringing my helmet with my everywhere, or taking a bike lock and locking the bitch to my passenger pegs when I know I'll be somewhere the helmet would be annoying to have with me. Spend hundreds of dollars on a nice helmet just to have some piece of shit just walk off with it.

You're probably right.

Biggest storage space I had on a sportbike was on an 02 954 I had. Could fit 3qts of oil in it.

>>
>>17553933

>the boxy tail makes the bike look too uncool bro t. crotch rocket marketing
>>
>>17553885
I don't trust people either but I live in a decent area and don't frequent ghetto shitholes in addition to my car, bike, and gear all being conveniently lower-middle-class in value; expensive enough that there could be a risk in taking it but cheap enough that it's pretty much not worth even paying attention to let alone taking.

>>17553921
>I take everything with me

There's also this. If I'm going to be inside for a few hours (like at a friend's house) I'll take my helmet with me and not leave anything in the saddlebags. If I'm carrying stuff in a backpack and need to pop into a store or whatever I just wear the bag in and don't act suspicious with it, haven't gotten a word nor questioning look yet.
>>
>>17553783
That's not how mirror adjustments on newer bikes work. The mirror moves on a pivot and the actual mirror stick only folds in or out so you can go from split tuck mode to your normal position in 3 seconds
>>
>>17553791
>Combined braking system.

Please be wrong.
>>
>>17553974
Only from that one guy at walmart has anyone said anything.
I take it all with me unless I'm at work.
Secure parking, and I'm not allowed to bring my helmet inside anyway.
Fuck this city, don't trust no one.
>>
>>17553954
>they can be tight enough you need tools to move them
They shouldn't. Riding on the highway and in the city require to change their position,
>>
>>17553988
I wasn't saying that's how it should be, just saying it happens.
If that is to be the case, see no reason you can't use the mirrors then.

So I was dead set on getting a Kawi 636 for a long time. Then I got to thinking; the only reason I want the 636 instead of a 599cc zx6r is because I want that extra power. So if I want extra power, why not get a GSXR 750?

Any opinions on the 750? Everyone I've talked to that had one loved it. I'm pretty stoked about the 418lbs wet weight, as well.

>>17554024

they're good, I would recommend them to anyone considering a 600 for street riding since they weigh about what a 600 does, but with much more low end power.

Why is Honda so keen to spoil every single modern V4 bike they make? RCV notwithstanding but good luck affording that.

They put it on fireblade too, albeit a sportier version

All in all it's actually okay for track riding/dry pavement

Also I don't think honda jives philosophically with putting anything remotely similar to their motoGP bike on the public market, so no V4 honda sportbikes for us.

So, it was more politics as in all the bylaws, which created drama.
Every time there was a meeting someone was complaining about this one or that one.

Fuck that, I'll just ride with a group of friends now and again.
Also, fuckers would crash their bikes down in Mex and I'd have to go pick up them and the bike. And they were always obnoxiously drunk, made it more difficult to get back.

It's a fashion accessory, and a damn good one. Better price:performance:looks than an HD.

Functionally it's a commuter, like slow BMW boxer twins that are magically cooler in the eyes of contrarian bikers. You can't lean a whole lot or go fast, but it won't break down, isn't that hard to fix, and has some pretty broad aftermarket options for carrying more than just your person compared to something like a sportbike that has one (ONE) $200 rack from givi that only works with their overpriced plastic boxes and maybe some soft bags. They even make leather passenger seats with backrests for them. Won't find that for your GSXR, or even your VFR.

If you want to buy a motorcycle to just get around it's a pretty good choice. Also, if the lean limit bothers you, you can do what people did when pretty much all bikes had low pipes and chop them and move them up higher.

That's a ZX-10R, a sportbike that weighs as much and handles like a 600.

The ninja a sport-tourer/sport-standard. It's a detuned, more dated engine and cheaper, heavier chassis with high rise clipons and repositioned rearsets for comfort.

If being comfy is a priority, get the ZX-10 and drill the top triple to bolt some proper handlebar brackets on for comfort. Then when track day comes, flip the bars upside down for muh racing crouch. Sport tourers a shit.

There's the combined resistance from the chain, axle, countershaft, transmission, clutch, and a very small amount of brake drag that's part of the design of disk brakes, so no, it's not supposed to go around and around forever. Two revolutions is actually really good. Congrats on your efficient drivetrain.

If you give it a shove and it doesn't spin at all, then you have problems.

that's pretty normal, it's not a bicycle, so the chain will spin with the wheel, the chain also spins the output shaft of the transmission (even in neutral) so between those things there is probably enough drag to slow the wheel after a couple revolutions.

You can't just legally title and plate a frame here. If the VIN is originally an offroad motorcycle, it stays an offroad motorcycle for life.

Some guys used to be able to get around it by saying their bike was home-built, but they really clamped down on that the last 5-10 years.

Crm's are way different from cr's, still fun bikes but are nothing alike. Also good luck importing one, roll on roll off services dont exsist for bikes like they do for cars, and Im sure your not buying enough bikes to make a container worthwhile. So unless you can find someone to break the bike down and throw it on a pallet for you your outta luck. And ofcourse there different bikes so if your thinking of just buy a frame and swapping in cr parts try again - nothing will fit.

It's not about needs. If people started taking away thing you didn't need how would you feel? You know you really don't need meat, and meat has an actual huge impact on the planet. So banning meat is logical.

>I'm all for ... handguns
Well crime statistics, even before 1986, show that your pro handgun anti automatic rifle stance is nonsense.
over 95% of gun related crime is committed with handguns.

>but guns made for killing people don't really belong in the arms of everybody who wants one.
If any guns are made for killing people, what makes one gun less "for killing" than another? Seems like it's all about intent, and you can't predict, or legislate intent.
Statistics show that current gun laws on nonsense, they either ban something that isn't a problem, or ban something that can be made or changed in minutes at home.

Gun control is a lot like DRM. All it does is hurt the people willing to follow the rules.
This isn't a small island country like Japan, the UK, or Australia
>all of which have huge border security issues, drugs, guns, human trafficking etc etc
This is the United States. With thousands of miles of unprotected borders, much of which is against countries with extreme corruption, crime, poverty, war, and more.
Gun aren't magic. People make ak47s by hand every single day in the middle east. You cannot keep guns out of the hands of someone who wants one. All that the 1986 ban on new production of civilian automatics did was create an artificial collectors market causing prices to skyrocket so joe blow can't have one legally.

Dude you can't get full auto's as a private citizen without having to pay massive licencing fee's undergo rigorous FBI testing and even then you can only buy guns made before 1994 at exorbitant prices due to them being hoarded by boomers. Full auto weapons are effectively illegal for the average person in the US.

That's sensationalism.
It's like being worried about a 747 crashing into your house while you sleep.

The funniest thing is, the sensationalism causes more of it.
If you put up a sign telling people to not graffiti, you're going to get graffiti.
Don't put the idea in the heads of the public and it won't happen nearly as often.

A thug with a stolen $200 handgun is more likely to come up to you at a red light in a major US city to steal your car than you are to be caught in a "mass" shooting in the US.

747s crashing into houses is a very uncommon occurence, and them hitting a residential building is virtually impossible due to the low height of those and the angle of approach that would be necessary. Mass shootings happen regularly and can happen at ANY school, be it Hicktown, TN or downtown NYC.
>Don't put the idea in the heads of the public and it won't happen nearly as often.
Yup, because when someone is frustrated, mentally unstable and has access to guns, they literally won't get the idea to shoot those who they feel have wronged them. It's all the media's fault! What absolute dogshite. Plus, media coverage != restrictions on gun ownership. You can have either without the other.
>A thug with a stolen $200 handgun is more likely to come up to you [...]
With stricter gun ownership laws it will be more difficult to steal guns. And even if it didn't, then the reduction in mass shootings alone would be reason enough to implement them.
>hurr, you're more likely to get robbed than you are to get murdered, what's the point in outlawing murder?
This is how stupid you sound.
>>
>>17555960
Banning airplanes would be a massive lifestyle change and do more harm than good. More people would die in the long run trying to cross oceans on boats.

Nobody would be massively inconvenienced by banning full auto machine guns and restricting others and it sure wouldn't lead to more deaths.

>>17555969
I choose to eat meat and let it kill me.
Are you implying that shooting victims CHOSE to get shot and killed? Sounds pretty silly.

>Guns [...] have a net benifit [sic!] on crime statistics
Except for the part where they get employed by criminals all the fucking time.
>[...] and save lives
Except for the part where they escalate potentially violent situations all the fucking time and people get shot and -- wait for it... die from shooting (which is to say, they lose their lives). What a shocking twist! Never saw it coming.

Look up the statistics.
Guns save lives in the US.
There's a reason the vast majority of LE in the country are highly against gun control.

In Australia you need a reason, and "Fun" and "Self Defense" aren't reasons.
You essentially have to own a farm and need to shoot pests.

You misunderstand. Ownership of ALL guns should be restricted or at least controlled.

I am actually heavily opposed to uncontrolled mass immigration and think, much like gun ownership, it should be regulated.
>Average American
Complete fucking idiot who doesn't think beyond "LOL BRUH I'MMA SHOOT MUH GUNS, MURRICA FUCK YEAH" and get their guns stolen by niggers (that then commit crimes using those stolen guns)? Yeah thanks, I'd like to keep guns out of the hands of those.

Can someone explain the whole standing thing on adventure bikes? I've ridden dirtbikes for 15+ years and sure I stand up when I hit big obstacles and bumps, but when I'm just going down an easy section of trail I sit back down. Does it have to do with handling all the extra weight? Or did they just see Chris Birch and Adam Riemann do it and monkey see monkey do?
