New shit?
How satisfied are you with a **sensible** amount of power?

It'll beat the pants off anything American, and has decent aftermarket. But it's fundamentally a utilitarian concept. Goes fast enough to get out of trouble, too slow to race a straight line.

On reliability, I've heard of the standard electrical failures. Engine is supposed to be pretty good, but not like a 100k VFR/goldwing.
And they use the same in the cbr, cb500f, cb500x, and cmx500. You'll have spare parts as long as we keep burning petrol.

I'm personally considering the cbr500r for go-fast practice. Givi makes a full luggage set, so it can be a solid commuter, too.

What's your opinion on the cbr500r series? 89mpg on a 500, so maybe it's not pillon tier, but I think it's strong enough for anything that's not TX meme highways.

Also, tent picks? This wally world jobby is kinda heavy...

I'm a super-tightwad. Really looking into it for the gas mileage and aftermarket suspension.
Ride fast enough for fun, but have low enough power to ride year-round without issue.

Prussia is a country that no longer exists because they scared the shit out of the rest of Europe for 2000 years. They are a cold, efficient people.
Americans say "protestant work ethic" to describe eating shit in a factory for life. Germans say "Prussian values" to describe working with the occasional break to sleep.

from what I've heard the engine covers are very sturdy so they only scratch up a bit. Replacements also only cost like 200 bucks and are easy to fit.

You can also either get a cage or some plastic cover

What do you guys think of the BT1100 bulldog?

>65bhp
>1060cc
>only 110mph top speed
>massive torque
>V twin engine
>comfy and relaxed
>shaft drive
>can be really economical if ridden not too hard

Can't decide whether this would be great for me (all rounder for commuting, long distance, relaxed cruise) or if its just a complete piece of shit that I should avoid.

>>
My corner was waiting for me. We were approaching each other at speed. I could see her white lines ushering me around her
bend toward an invisible unknown. My steel mare's bold back tires complimented the grey asphalt. Her polished chrome
power-house, the only part of her that wasn't black, was grumbling ferociously beneath me. She liked to announce herself.
People would prep their umbrellas to the sound of her deep rumble in the distance, only to realise they had been fooled by
a 1 litre engine.

Her rider liked to dress accordingly. I was in full black from my leather shoes to my tight tee, gripping at my biceps. The
summers air caressed my arms with it's warmth, moving up over my shoulders and brushing past my neck. My vision was
dominated by a mighty blue Mediterranean sky and snapshots of woodland trees, spaced enough to allow glimpses into the
deeper wilderness. The forest floor was covered in fallen leaves, sticks and branches - A more than ideal arena for the
light footed creatures who bounced along with careful footing, though not as much for the winged members of this
environment who would crash into the leaves with a crunch.

I was now very near to the curve, closing in on her as man and machine rocketed forwards. All manner of questions began to
fill my mind. What would I find? Where did she lead to? What secrets was she keeping from me? None of her mysteries could
be discovered, not until the brief moments, the milliseconds that I was with her. Only under those circumstance would she
reveal the obstacles she had to present me with.

My mare was just now dipping her front tire into the corner. The world I was in before had vanished from me, as if it were
my imagination giving it life. It was now just me, my bike and the corner engaging in an intimate performance, no-guests-
allowed. I guess to put this into less romantic terms, I was experiencing tunnel vision.

1/3
>>
>>17374663
2/3

I gripped my handle bars a little tighter, my eyes widened and my heartbeat picked up it's pace. I could feel adrenaline soothing my veins as I became hyper-focused. Now was the time to turn her. I slammed my bike onto it's side, wedging her jet-black rubber tires deep into the corner, and for a brief period I was weightless as my body dropped with the bike, and caught by centrifugal momentum. My face was now inches from the ground, I could count every individual rock embedded into the asphalt as the road zoomed past my vision. As if I was on my own personal roller coaster, my organs were left behind the rest of me as my buttocks -on account of the g-forces- were pushed into my seat, as if I were a jet fighter pilot.

It was at this point that I had realised I had been duped and deceived. My C-curve turned out to be an S curve. My mare was happily grumbling away, unaware we were leaning directly into the beautiful wilderness we were enjoying earlier. I took a sharp breath that felt icy cold, chilling the back of my throat as if I had minty chewing gum earlier. In an attempt to steer myself into safety I twisted my handlebars and threw my weight with them, but my bike was retarded - too heavy, she wouldn't lift in time, all the while her wheels are still chewing up the road inch by inch. There were only a couple of those inches left until we were all out of road, The brakes wouldn't stop me in time.
>>
>>17374671
3/3

I think now is an appropriate time time to say that I am a firm believer in remaining calm until you are all out of options. In what may seem a nonsensical, even illogical move, I jammed open my throttle to max so hard, If my mare was grumbling before, she was now roaring as her engine was flooded with massive amounts of petrol, sending her rear tire into free-spin as it let out an unholy shriek. The entire bike seemed to rotate on the spot as if she were on tank-tracks turning in opposite directions. I struggled to hold onto her, my legs near flew out - only the grip of my hands kept me on her as she twisted herself into the new corner. Now both tires were screaming as they ripped the road. Wrinkled, flattened and smoking from the sheering torque they were put through. "ARGHH" I cried out in in excitement as we flew around the bend, the wind blowing through my hairs - cooling my scalp. Tears were rolling from the sides of my eyes and I slightly trembled either from the vibrations or the adrenaline being pumped around my body. "This is why I ride" I thought to myself as I looked back at the signature left by my tires. I continued down the woodland highway searching for the next adventure.

Full choke when cold. If it starts easy pushed but not cranking it's either weak spark or weak battery (not enough spark left over from running the starter to fire the plug).

Generally, with the choke on it should fire when cold. It won't be like FI where it fires in less than a second, but shouldn't be more than 4 or 5 seconds.

pic pulls just as hard up to 140kmh as that 300 and still has enough power left at that speed to get the front wheel in the air and it out pulls old mates yz250 in every gear even though both are geared 13/49.

2 strokes are fun and they are cheaper to maintain but in certain situations 4 strokes just have more usable power and engine braking is nice no one can deny that.

Don't be afraid to expand your stylistic horizon, too. I use a waxed cotton retro from Rev'it, a mesh tourer from sedici, and the raiden DKR for winter. Each has its purpose, because I don't give two shits about a speed hump.
I'd rather be warm/cool/dry than fast, on the street.

>two strokes are fun

Congrats, you just figured out why two strokes are better than 4 strokes.

Nobody here (probably) is a professional racer, why not ride what gives you the most smiles? I've had 6 different motorcycles, 3 of them dirtbikes - by far the funnest one was my 06' yz250 (bored to 270, piped, ect.) That thing scared the shit out of me and left a stupid grin on my face everytime it started up.
>>
>>17375067
Preferably something like the picture. I have an arai helmet so that's not an issue.

>>17375083
Bruh it's not a pissing contest, settle down.

Going to my first Biker meet up on saturday, a weekend trip into some mountains

What should I expect?

I'm meeting up with another guy in the next town over, then we are riding together to another city to meet another 3 or so people, then we are heading to the main meet as a group. I don't know any of these people but we have interacted a bit on a Facebook page for English speaking riders in this country

Yea it is mainly abrasion resistance. The reason I asked is because I have all that stuff except the helmet. I suppose proper gear would make more sense anyway.

I'll check it out, thanks anon.

I honestly would'nt get a full matching suit, unless you like looking like a boy-racer when you're walking around in a grocery store, school, ect.

My "normal" street wear is
>ugly ass grey icon leather jacket (and my bikes yellow)
>alpinestar riding shoes, pic related
>half-gauntlet gloves (get good gloves, hands are important)
>helmet
>jeans

If I'm going full dagumi I'll wear full length boots and a pair of hideous touratech textile overpants. They even have suspenders!

skin>looks.
>>
>>17375070
R6 even has a steering damper, if its properly set up there is no chance for wobble.

Of course morons tend to fuck with the suspension for easier wheelies.
>>
>>17375131
And taller boots, if you can't afford proper motorcycle kit. Even Army surplus is better than the ankle-height things I'm sure you're considering.

Ive ridden a crf450, yes the low end was nice and all but nothing really compares to hitting the powerband on a 2stroke for me. The crf just didnt seem as fun tk me. You said in your post that they are fun, and that is 100% what riding is about for all of us since there are only like 3 people in dbt that actually race bikes. If i could have my 250 2 stroke on the street i can guarantee that i would be smiling even stoplight to stoplight every single ride
>>17375096

>muh power bands
This is why 2 stroke fags are the worst. Last time I rode with one IRL he was talking about how the previous owner put in harder hitting power bands. I thought he was joking at first but he really thought a power band was a part.

Reminder 4 strokes make more power across the entire rev range.
>>
>>17375145
That was another consideration of mine. I'm not into racing yet and I'm not looking to be a wannabe in a full suit. I just want to be protected and be comfortable too.

Tall enough to brace your ankle properly, instead of just covering it.
Hiking boots are designed "for support," meaning they only need to cradle the joint. Proper work/combat boots are tall enough to use as a compression brace.
7" or higher is best.
Related; lineup of combat boots (meh), wildfire boots (okay), and the real deal, next to some standard-hiker size hightops for comparison.
See how they're at least a tongue length apart?

yeah it's kind of fun for a moment when you get on the pipe and it really punches. after the first time it's really just annoying to have to deal with the retarded power delivery.

I have fun on my 450 on which I can give a light blip of the throttle at any rpm and instantly feel it.

>>17375508
Not necessarily you can stick a new rider on a big boy pig fat bike, but thats a lot of weigh to be moving around if you new. I think some thing like a shadow 750 or like a magna 750 would be a great first bike. They have enough grunt to keep you entertained and aren't terrible heavy. Magna is like 450-500 and shadow is close to 600 I think.
>>
>>17375518
>Town Beyond the Pines
the bike in the movie is an XR650 iirc
>>
>>17375522
Sure. But I won't even entertain a cruiser under 1000cc. It's pointless really
>>
Oh please that shadow is slow, but the magna has a detuned VFR750 engine in it. Runs like a 4.4sec 0-60 and a 11.5sec quarter mile. That would keep the average rider entertained in my opinion.
>>
>>17375499

also reminds me of something

Funny, I work at a Motorrad dealer and got hit by a car while riding our demo NineT just last saturday. The engine is fine. Scraped from where it hit the pavement and slid, and the other valve cover has a bunch of paint from the soccermom SUV bumper that hit me. It just left service and the engine is seriously fine. It's already back out in our demo lineup. Pretty impressed with it.
