tried that, still pop out

are the bar ends supposed to screw into something? There's no threading in the stock bars--just a rubber washer on the bar end that expands into the bar when you tighten the bolt.

And the result.
>>
>>17280028
Offroad, DUH. You can pull yourself out with the front wheel if the rear wheel digs into sand or mud.
>>
>>17280046
Should have some form of anchor. Most have 2 little wedges that get forced apart as you tighten the bolt and lock down on the bar
>>
>>17280059
But then you just have the front and real wheel dug into the mud.
Yeah I'm sure there will be some small benefit in really loose surfaces but not enough to make any significant improvement since you can get most of the weight on the rear wheel by sitting back on the seat anyway.
>>
>>17280050

You're basically limited to Victory or Indian bikes then, both of which are owned by Polaris. Victory bikes are decently priced and are supposed to be breddy good, Indian bikes are pretty expensive and I don't know much more about them. The Victory Octane might suit you.

I hate them because instead of compromising on style and engine specs, everything is geared towards a brand image. That image is a load low HP air cooled engine from 50 years ago. Very little innovation, bikes never seem to be as reliable as a Jap bike either.

Ontario is shit. Insurance in the greater Toronto area where most of the population lives has one of the highest insurance rate. I pay 1600/yr for liability on a drz.

Gun laws are shit

Buying used vehicles is shit. The ministry charges tax on used vehicle. With bikes you can put it as $1 and pay 13 cents but with cars I think there is a ministry amount that you pay according to car if the sale value is really low.

Also during winter time the roads have more salt than the dead Sea so you better have a winter beater if you are into cars too.

Yeah every corner is covered with various types of patch work in the pavement. It's really bumpy and the surface changes are pretty sketchy.

A lot of HD riders are good guys but I've run into a lot of complete assholes riding Harleys. I've gotten everything from the, "When are you gonna trade that scooter in for a real bike?" to the "Don't park that piece of Jap shit next to our Harleys" to a group of Harley riders blowing by me in the same lane on a fucking 2 lane highway where I was already doing well above the speed limit.

Move your upper body to the inside. Your left arm should be almost straight across the tank. Your lower body should follow.

Body position isn't that big of a concern until you get to truly hektik corner speeds, or the end all be all of cornering. More important is to make sure you're applying good riding technique.

I can offer some opinions on gear from long term use and crash tests:

>Scorpion SGS gloves
Shit quality gloves for gear benchracers. Don't buy. It has a bunch of hype features that don't actually do any good. The seams started popping almost right away. The thin af palm ripped instantly from a low speed slide (like 30mph maybe). I thought no big deal and kept wearing them but eventually the palms ripped even more starting at the seams and going all the way across.

>Alpinestars GP Tech gloves
Great quality. Lowsided twice at ~45mph and sliding on my right hand both times. It barely broke through the leather on the thumb from the first crash but the hole is tiny and hasn't continued ripping. Otherwise the gloves are still in great shape and I totally trust them.
Bad part is the hard plastic gauntlets are bulky and can't be stuffed down into my helmet when I park.

>Some old Alpinestars 2-piece suit
Got it for free. The mesh interior liner is kind of loose and my toes can catch on it when putting it on but no other complaints. Survived 3 lowside crashes and hasn't ripped through the leather.
Main complaint is that it's slightly too small for me in girth and height, but I can't blame that on the suit. Also the chest zipper has popped open twice this year while just riding around. Not sure what that's about.

>Scorpion hellion jacket
It gets hot in the summer and the elbow armor won't stay in place. The material is durable though. Was wearing it in the slow crash that ripped my gloves and it didn't rip through at the wrists.

>Fly Racing MX boots
Can't remember the model name but they were the cheapest ones. They're hot, uncomfortable, heavy, and clunky but I believe they have saved my ankles and feet on several occasions.

what is this, r/motorcycles?
>>>reddit
>>
Gents, I have a $2000 budget for another motorcycle. I live ~50mi from any road that has decent curves and 100mi from a larger city. The main highways and freeways here move at about 80mph or more. There are long stretches of uphill and downhill.

CL usually has late 70s to late 80s UJMs, 250 ninjas, and 90s-2000s jap cruisers in that price range. Occasionally a 500 ninja or a 650sv pop up but are typically crashed and beaten to fuck.

I'm 280# and 6'1".
I'd order my wants as:
1) ability to do at least 100mph in a 20mph headwind.
2) reliability
3) comfort comfortable for at least 2hrs worth of uninterrupted riding.

would a Vstar 650 / Shadow 600 or 750 be a decent choice you think?
>>
>>17281006
I like the bike behind it more. What model is it?
>>
>>17281045
My friend's shadow 750 (can't remember the exact model, shaft drive) tops out at like 80-85 mph. The 600 is even less powerful and the Vstar has a very week and shitty aircooled engine.
>>

With my 125 I find myself going up to gear 4 at 30-40 mph (50-65 kph)
>>
>>17281105
Ah, was wondering. I got race boots and they're OK I guess but not nearly as protective as I had hoped. Looking at """'adv""" boots rn, but IDK.
>>
>>17281118
I've tried on a couple pairs of streetbike type boots and was surprised how un-sturdy they felt compared to mine. They basically folded at the ankles so I don't know how they would save you from anything.
>>
>>17281118
I own a pair of Sidi Adventure Gore Tex boots. They're not gonna be as protective as MX boots but are more protective than just about any other road or "racing" boots. They're tolerable for walking around a little bit -- the heel is hinged and allows a small amount of movement and the sole allows a small amount of movement at your toes but that's about it. Not good if you're planning on riding to an event and walking around for a few hours but they're manageable when you're just going into shops / restaurants for a little bit. Going up and down stairs is kinda sketchy while wearing them though, I don't recommend it.
>>
>>17281145
>. They basically folded at the ankles
yup

>>17281147
kinda like a ski boot feel?
>>
>>17281162
Yeah, kinda. They're not completely rigid like the serious MX boots but they do seriously limit your foot's movement. I've dropped my DR650 on top of my feet/legs a couple times offroad and it never even hurt when the 375lb bike landed on my ankle.

In England they get you to ride for 3 hours and give you a license lol. I had to drive in and out of cones for 5 minutes and the rest was just going along the highway on an automatic moped.

The first day I had this thing I kept stalling every time I had to stop and start lol. The amount of frustrated drivers behind me was immense, I didn't take it over 10kmh and I went like that for 10 miles, whilst getting lost several times.

It's now day 3 and I ride so good I have nothing else to learn. I'm part of my machine now. It's really simple.

It really is. It doesn't rumble as monstrously as I'd like it to, it's got a feeble purr to it, but heyy, it looks really cool.

My next bike will probably be a red CB500 (Yamaha). Looks similar but with much more power >:D

I had that happen to me once going up Pike's Peak. A line of cars a half mile long stuck behind an old Ford motorhome (80-something). They refused to use the numerous pullouts and were going at 5 to 8 MPH at best. I pulled over at one point, ate a sammich, finished my cup of coffee, took a couple of pictures, and caught back up inside of a minute at a leisurely pace. At the top, I made sure to keep an eye on that family so I could bounce before getting stuck behind them for hours on the way back down.

Serious question, how old are you? How long have you been on 4chan? How long have you been on /dbt/?
>>

You know in literature different types of spaces give different meanings to your sentences.
A comma is less dramatic than full stop, which is less dramatic than an entire line. It's for readability and emotional conveyance.

>>
>>17281488
Double spacing in Air Force seems to be common (even in the archaic Tongue and Quill official writing manual). I think it is silly (after having very good English teachers) and I will continue to single-space every memo, slide, etc. that I write unless directly ordered to change it. I believe it is a holdover from the typewriter days.

I have 2 brand new unworn Rev'it Roamer leather jackets i want to sell. I bought 3, to get the right size, with the intention of returning the 2 that didn't fit, but then some shit happened and long story short i never got round to returning them.
One is size 44 the other is size 42.
I'd be willing to sell for £160 to someone from here if anyone is interested.
Otherwise i'll just put them on ebay.
They are really nice jackets.

Either should have it. I prefer the mechanics one.

>I wanna do it myself.

I get that, but asking here isn't the best place. Look at dedicated SV650 forums, and the service manual. Everything about that bike should be known and found on the internet.

The owner's manual will tell you generally what to use. I like the Mobil1 10W-40 motorcycle oil (don't confuse it with the "V-Twin" 20W-50 oil; that is for Harleys mainly). The service/shop manual is good for doing other tasks and is really nice to have as you learn. With how you're writing, I am assuming you're new to maintenance and want to help you help yourself.

Same exact situation here, it's wierd because as kids...they all wanted motorbikes when older and I wanted a car. Years later I'm here with a motorbike after having many others before, and only one friend learned to drive but avoids motorways or bumpy back roads...

They just have little to no interest at all, we were on about taking a trip and they would all go in his car and I figured "great i'll go on my bike"...then in the end they decided driving was hassle, and chose to go by train.

Christ, dude. It was taught to me as early as middle school that the proper way to indicate paragraphs in most text is to indent by 2, 4, or 8 spaces.

In media where that is not possible/realistic (mostly emails at that time, but now forums and instant messages too), the correct formatting is to skip a line.

Also, reddit is far from the only place that uses markdown to format its content. The reason old man macgruber chose to use an blank line to indicate a paragraph break (rendered as a <p> tag) was because that convention had already existed for a long time.
