Really busts my balls when Harley owners enter their displacements in ci instead of cc on Craigslist. depends how long your hair is. If it's medium-length, you can try putting a little pomade or other water-based schmutz in in the morning and that'll help at least semi-reclaim it after you take your helmet off

also its a good idea to turn on and off those settings, just to see what comes up different especially with search title only. search title filters out the (cbr yzf r1 r6 gsxr zx6r zx10r zx10 ninja . . . .) copy paste bullshit that people put at the bottom of their post, but if someone slightly mistypes their bike name you wont see it
ie
search for gsxr 1000 you wont see gsxr 1k, gsxr1000, gsxr

or

search for yamaha R1, don't see R1, YZFR1,

electronics are not as sophisticated as the current crop of liter peters, but buell is once again going out of business so you can get a new one for under $10k (at least, a new naked version of the same bike for under $10k, fairings might push you over)

buell is famous for designing very good-handling chassis with weird touches like fuel in frame and perimeter brakes.

Second observation on muh CM250C... The headlight on this thing is absolutely useless. I mean I can barely see the light on the side of the building 30' ahead of me. eh, i hear the vfr doesnt have very good fuel economy, plus its more expensive, a 2002 vfr 800 is going to run 4,000 dollars. they're great bikes, but fuel economy and initial cost is a concern, im spoiled by 50 mpg, and when i rode a bike with under 40 mpg i got surprisingly annoyed buying gas after that

wiping bugs off while riding is an amateur mistake. It always just smears the bug juice and makes it worse. It's best to just let it be until you can get home and do a proper clean. I clean my visors with dish soap and hot running water. The bugs usually come off with a gentle wipe with a paper towel.

>Mine gets 35mpg
thats going to get anoying quick for me, im used to spending 11 dollars every 200 miles, im going to have to buy a gallon more gas at each fuel up, and im going to have to fuel up 20-30 miles earlier, and that will annoy me a good bit for the first year, and be a minor annoyance knowing i could have gotten 10-15 more mpg if i had sacrificed 36% of the horse and less than 25% torque
i mean the versys is still a 40% power increase from my current bike and a 32% increase in torque

More cyllinders and more horses = more valves to adjust, more things to fail, higher fuel consumption, needing bigger chains and tires more often, etc

nah, the 675R was a higher trim package they introduced in '09 i think, got ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, quickshifter and some other toys. Mines an '06.

According to this the GS500 is both sexy and gangsta, hmm...
>>
>>17222534
That's how I learned to drive - my dad and I would go out at like 8pm and go around the neighborhood streets and stores. Less traffic, and most of the things you need to know about are either reflective (signs) or illuminated (cars, traffic lights) so they pop out more then during the day.

Only drawback on a bike is that you're harder to see I guess.

Both? It's a good reliable A-B bike but not something that's going to wow you at the experience.
>>

I'm looking at the NC700X because I want a
>daily driver (90% of riding)
>something more nimble than my cruiser for weekend canyon riding
>something to handle the occasional 500-1000 mile long trips with a more comfortable (upright) sitting position than my cruiser

Not looking for a supersport, but it needs to have enough power to accelerate an additional 15-20 mph in a short amount of time when I'm already going 70 mph, just so I can get out of tight spots from next to swervy semis or when passing on 2 lane roads.

I do. When I commute I usually end up riding home at night, but it's so relaxing I usually end up stretching the ride out longer.
At night my helmet turns into a cozy little bubble. There aren't many streetlights where I live, it's rural/suburban so I'm mostly cruising through darkness.

Does that mean bike+rider cant exceed 520 pounds, or does that mean one tire can hold 520 pounds, meaning they can actually total up to 1,040 pounds?
I mean if 520 pounds is the max load, and a lot of bikes weigh over 400 pounds, they expect you to be a 110 pound manlet

>implying a bag/tube isn't top tier larp material

One, it's nothing like what actual mechanics use, which is a small tool pouch for basic shit like exchanging snapped cables/temporarily repairing tire punctures and a cell phone for calling in a tow, because they know that if your bike breaks down it probably needs a new part after you turn all those bolts because the old one was destroyed by the failure.

Two, it gives off the impression that your bike is always breaking down, which makes you look like a mechanic in the eyes of normies
>>
>>17223721
Depends on how you precieve it. A honda accord is chea, reliable, and good on gas, perfect for going to and from work, but its never going to go crazy like a Ferrari. It will always be puttering from a to b sipping gasoline gently.
>>
>>17223617
ok, so
>if has half the engine of an honda fit
>it has something like an 8k redline
>no power
>comparatively gobs of torque
>DCT is a bit finnicky (will fail if you get different tyres and sprockets)
>low COG, but heavy (will hangle good in the city, but slide about at high speed)
it's a commuter based on a scooter, i'd get one (or rather a ctx) to try out the fancy transmission, but the manual version is admittedly a borefest
couple that with the fact you could get an SV for roughly the same price...
>>
>>17223757
That's just like your opinion, man
>>
>>17223783
The SV series doesn't look like it would be at all suited for long road trips. No windshield. No fairing. Also, you're going to have to make your own storage with saddlebags and other unsecured sorts of things.
>>
>>17223783
I don't want to make it sound like I'm promoting the NC700X. I'm just pointing out that it does fit my criteria, and the SV650, for example, really doesn't.

Yeah, that's definitely another one I'm looking at too. I'm still at an early stage and I need to test drive them both. The built in storage space is really nice on the Honda, though. I am thinking that it would have to be really sluggish for me to go a different direction.

dont
replace the bar($70), shift lever ($30), kick stand ($20-$40 depending on what you find on ebay), and cluctch (i assume you mean clutch cover, if so $85-$110 +$10 for a gasket, if you mean the clutch lever, then $20 for a clutch/brake lever set), then get it pained (i bet you could find a shop to do it for $200-$300)
then you've restored his bike to looking brand new for $340-$530
that's a lot better than selling it for $2,500-$3,000 then filling in the remaining $2,000-$2,500 dollars to replace it yourself. its all pretty easy work except the painting too, all you need is a socket set and some allen keys, which you probably already have
>rip the bent bar off
>new one on
>15 minutes if you're a slow worker or an idiot
>rip off the plastics (10-20 minutes)
> rip off the kick stand and prop it up with a notched 2x4 (5 minutes)
>rip off the foot peg and shift lever, then install the new shift lever, the old foot peg, and the new kick stand (15 minutes)
>drain the oil in to a turkey pan
>take the clutch cover off
>put on the new one and a new gasket (10-15 minutes
>put the oil back in
>since you already have the fairings off, throw them in your car
>take them to an automotive paint shop
>get them painted the same as they were
>in a few weeks theyll call you to say its done
>take them home
>install them (20 minutes tops)
>take it to your brother
>show him his "new" bike
