how to maek 911 gud? The car seems to only be competitive with my usual GT3 pace when the setup is just dangerous enough to be an issue in a race. I could fall back on a couple other cars and race with /ovg/ for once but the 911 turns me on and I want to make it work.
Appreciate any insight, all I know is some stuff from the forums, like compensating for the weak diffuser and maybe running the front end a bit higher

So it's been a really long time since I last played a serious racing game. but now I really feel like playing one.
I'm a PC player and currently don't have neither controller nor wheel, and I have 0 experience with the first one, but I used to play Dirt 2 on a shitty wheel few years ago.

So my concern is:
I would rather have a controller because it's way cheaper, smaller and probably won't give many bad habits for real-world driving.
The wheel worries me because I have made my license just few months ago and I only drive like 2 times a week, so I'm still a really shitty driver. I'm also a eurofag and drive only manual cars - that seems especially dangerous for my throtlle and clutch habits if I used a wheel.
On the other hand, the wheel seems to be a lot better (easier to control) for sim-racing games than the controller, keeping in mind that I have 0 experience with it.

What fucking FWD cars have you been driving?
They understeer inherently. If you brake while turning they will understeer more. If you accelerate while turning they will still understeer but probably in the direction you want to go. Unless you are left-foot-braking like a Todo-Juku master your average completely stock FWD car will shove like a goddamn boat.

Mind you, I'm referring to understeer as the car's propensity to drift to the outside of a corner while turning under power, not full on tire-skidding Mustang-tier can't-turn. In a RWD car you experience oversteer first as the back wants to slide out before the front and point the nose in, in a FWD car the front end wants to go to the outside and braking only makes it worse since you're trying to load these two tiny contact patches with all the work.

this is not something people really pay attention to on public roads while they're tying not to get run over by cell phone stacey and uber chad, but such situations DO occur and it's important to know what it looks like, what it feels like, and what to do about it. This is why simulators are the best timewaster in the universe.

I guess it won't because file mismatches. Might even be extremely confusing if the cars have the same internal name, as one would see a server with the cars but not the correct mod version and get booted.

Announcing a new THURSDAY NIGHT SERIES!

The series will be five weeks long, with one race lasting 15 minutes. Taking place every thursday at 21.30 CET (19.30GMT).

The mod we are racing will be the Camaro Cup, which is being run in Scandinavia and make for some hektik close racing. The tracks are very easy to get into and don't require much practice. The mod includes all tracks and a skinpack.

Also i got a new server, so we won't have the same issues that happened last friday night with GFins AC race.

You're right but trail braking also works in a RWD car.
The weight balance in a FWD car is already in the front, so you need to balance the car properly to pull this off, something a beginner driver does not immediately know to do. Too much braking or getting on the power too soon will cause the car to understeer instead. This is compounded by the fact that modern FWD road cars are intentionally engineered to understeer as a safety measure.

For simracing alone, not at all imo. It's neat but not required at all.
Honestly, I'd wait for the next generation of VR headsets since by then they'll be cheaper, more games support it and hardware will cope with it better. For simracing, VR pretty much improves on the benefits of a triple screen setup while also not needing as much space on your desk.
Ofcourse a triple screen setup can be very comfortable for work and normal desktop use but then again it's not necessary

I run triplehead, two 24" flat panel monitors with a 24" Samsung curved screen between them. It's great, but if you've been playing on one screen for a while you need to train yourself to physically look left and right.

I wear glasses so the 3x HD aspect ratio completely fills my field of view. It's really cool, and the curved screen allows for bezel overlap.

You don't need monitors with a particularly high refresh. It's not a twitch shooter, most things in racing games are visually slow even if you're travelling at a high rate of speed, and there's no vertical view movement that would cause tearing (unless you are playing an off-road game).
What you do want is high pixel density and contrast.
Also, triple monitors allow you to leave your wheel hooked up and still use your PC for everyday things, just scoot over to a side monitor to shitpost or browse the web.

keep in mind many modern games and emulators support rendering to triple-screen so the benefit is not to racing simulators alone. Everything looks cooler and you have better spatial awareness.
