I never really liked the K-series, they seemed so un-Honda like. If, or more probably when, the Civic's engine blows, I might but a B-series, or a good D-series back in, but not a K.

It was a wierd engine when I first saw it, the last honda we had in the family was a D15 civic and it was pretty standard, at least the aftermarket liked the K.
>>
I live in California and I'm looking for another Honda, currently own a DA9 and I love it. What do you guys recommend for $2500 ish? I'd love another Integra but also looking for a B swapped civic.
>>

You can't go wrong with a DC integra or b swapped civic. Find which ever one you can find that's a good deal first. Personally I'd get a DC integra over a swapped civic.

What the hell is wrong with my prelude /hg/? Had the head removed to fix the valves from when my timing belt broke. Everything is put back together perfectly and it runs perfect cold at idle and driving around.

When it warms up, it bogs on acceleration like a motherfucker making it nearly undrivable. Pedal to the floor, it just doesn't want to go. Oxygen sensor? Exhaust leak? The car ran like top before the timing belt said fuck you.
>>
>>16590127
Check to make sure your fuel injectors are all working. My old Civic has almost zero acceleration only because one injector went bad.

Think I'll be getting a P28 socketed to a D16Y8 from somebody. He said that should get my vtak working.
>>
>>16590143
Alright, I will keep that in mind.
>>
>>16590143
>only because one injector went bad.
I see why it does that, the ECU doesn't want the engine to have a skip so it tones down the flow of the others.

Aftermarket or stock? What did you originally pay for them im looking for rear spring replacements that are stiffer. Nc roads are bumpy as fuck but in the sense that a lowered car will smack the ground on the highway.
>>16591920
Live/sell in a populated neighbourhood, have a few people with you, sell in public place with other there, or anything where you arent alone and there would be too much risk to try to mug you.
>>16591173
You forgot ebay.
>>
>>16592333
Haven't sold on eBay before but my roommate has sold some Lego shit on it.

They're aftermarket Eibach Pro Kit springs. Made for Integras but as far as I know fit EG Civics and Del Sols. Weird though because the Civic/Del Sol one has a different part number than the Integra one. EGs and Integras have literally the same suspension components.
>>
>>16592349
Forgot to say what I paid for them. I kinda got them for a steal. $140 used for a full set attached to Koni Yellow shocks. The springs themselves new are sold for ~$220. Shocks about $120 each. Guy with the tuned P28 ECU might be interested in trading for them so that'll be sweet. I expect a huge power gain with the ECU swap, being my current one is a stock ECU meant for a D15 without VTEC. I have a VTEC engine but it hasn't kicked in once since I got the car.

Engine is a D16A which is similar to a D16Z6. It's a JDM engine from the second gen Honda Domani. ECU is from a DX Civic which is non VTEC, but it isn't the original ECU either.

Sold my auto Civic to my buddy so his mom could have a reliable daily driver. No VTEC, but it's a 93 model with the D16Y7 engine from a 99 Civic.

>>

Risky? I want to make my decision today. It'll be my first car that I buy myself.
My monthly payments will be around $200 a month....
I can't drive manual and $12k is already a lot
>>
>>16592545
Honda is notorious for having bad auto transmission. Around here we basically say this.

>Manual? Get a Honda
>Automatic? Get a Toyota

You can get an auto Honda, but make sure the CVT fluid in that particular car was changed around the 30k mile mark. It should be changed every 30k miles, or 25k if driven hard.
>>
>>16592545
>>16592562
Also from my research, Honda has a five year 60,000 mile warranty on these cars so it should be a safe buy.

I say go for it, 9th gen coupes look real nice. Post pics when you get it. Join the collage if you'd like to, as well.
>>
>>16592562
I just am already on the fence about getting an expensive car.
It has 42k miles also but I do like it.
Im going to ask them when the fluid was last changed for sure. Thanks for that tip. I just wanna make sure I can afford a gaming pc in the next 4 monthz.
I only get paid$ 2100/mo
>>
>>16592571
Yeah it should be a fairly reliable car. If you keep maintenance records and follow the recommended maintenance in the owner's manual I don't think you'll have any problems. I'd probably have the fluid changed around the 50k mark just in case.

Goddamn, the more I look at CR-Xs, the more I want one. The problem is that, quite literally, almost every single pre-1995 hatchback, and almost every single CR-X has been stripped and 'race modded' for circuit racing. There is one CR-X in miles that air know of, and the only pre-1990 hatch I've seen has been riced, rusted out, and is now for sale at $500 more than he bought it for. Goddamn, I hate this shitty community, the fake car """""culture""""" and the lack of fucking CR-Xs.

I was doing an oil change after i bought the car in december, oil filter would not come off using several methods (it's halfway up the engine bay??? what the fuck). Drain plug AND the oil pan threads stripped. Attempted to replace it but the exhaust piping runs over the oil pan so i would have to drop the exhaust, but it's literally impossible to drop bolts with 25 years of rust without a lift (no leverage). finally ended up calling a few shops for quotes. jb welding the drain plug so it doesn't leak and setting up an appointment for early next week.

Whats the probability that a connector or wiring is bad? There was a squirrell living in the engine bay (actually the intake) for a while, but i wasnt able to find any visible issues.

I'm pretty sure its related to the map sensor, and checking values / unplugging the map sensor while the car is running definitely makes me think this. However, after replacing the sensor i get the same issues.

TL:DR is my wiring/connector fucked?

Absolutely no idea if you guys talk about Honda bikes here too, but the bike threads are a shitshow so I thought I'd ask for your opinions here. I have a Honda bike and am getting a new custom made seat for it, but I can't really decide if I want it black because simplicity, or white with red details. I feel like the white would be cool since it would go well with the white portion of the body, wouldn't get as hot in the sun as well as being unique. However, I have never seen a white seat on a sport bike, not even on google, and thought maybe there's a reason. Would it be ugly in person? Hard to clean? Not very Honda related but it's a Honda bike so I thought I'd fish for opinions here. Pic related, not my picture but looks exactly like it.

>>16610814
It's garage kept, and I only ride on dry days, so it wouldn't get exposed to harsh weather at all really. Would you think it would be ugly in your personal opinion? Even if you don't know much about bikes, just from your own perspective.
>>
>>16610808
As long as the white matches the bike it would look good. That is a leather seat right? Leather is easy to clean but white leather is somewhat different. Shit likes to smudge on white leather for whatever reason. I've had bad experiences with my white leather shoes and white leather seats on my dad's matrix.
You should join the collage. We have a bike column. >>16588907
>>
>>16610836
I think it would look pretty sweet to be honest. I'd go for it.
>>
>>16610839
The top surfaces would be leather, the sides would be vinyl that's the the same color/texture to better keep shape over time. I'll come back one day once it's a bit nicer out and maybe post a picture (Probably with the new seat in question on it) to add

No idea, discovered it when i went to start the car in the morning.

Engine turned over but sounded weird as fuck, knew the cam wasn't turning. Immediate thought it was a snapped timing belt.

Saw the cam gear wasn't moving and thought broken cam, removed valve cover, turned engine over, relized the gear was broken.

Replaced it with a stamped steel gear from a d15 head I had lying around.

I'm sure you were thinking the same way I am -- if I'm going to take it FUCKING COMPLETELY APART, I'm gonna make sure I don't have to do it again anytime soon. New bits everywhere.

I want to drive the hell out of it when I'm done, not have a project in perpetuity where I'm dismantling shit I've already assembled and reassembled because of halfassery.

Good on you. You're at the point where you get to enjoy it now.

Shit I'll be buying next. I'll see if my buddy has the sensors sitting around before I buy those, though. Bushings are for my front LCAs. I suspect that's what all the clunking noises are since I replaced everything but those.
>>
>>16611124
Haha I deserve to enjoy it now, the amount of times ive had to strip the suspension, then replace the trans finding that the replacement was broken... etc etc. was just too much... If i have to recommend one thing, make sure the used shit you're buying is fucking broken like mine was.

My buddy is in the middle of doing some crazy work on his own car. He's got the same idea to not use the same shitty parts from his old Civic body when moving it all to the new one so he's upgrading a lot of it as he goes, and going broke doing it. It's looking incredible so far, though.

Sent me this yesterday.

I respect people that have the patience to completely strip and redo their cars.. I really wanted to do that too, but I couldnt justify the reasoning since I want to use my crx for the track..

Yeah, the thing that's really fucking me is I decided not to roll the dice on a junkyard trans. Going with professionally reman'd with the LSD already installed. Transmissions are bordering on witchcraft.

Yeah he's not leaving a single bit of red on that body. Even the interior is being turned white. Can't wait to see it running again.

Transmissions are crazy expensive. I had a credit card and used it on a fresh Synchrotech trans for my car. Had it for a year and it has been flawless.
>>
>>16611227
wow a serious transformation! My transmission cost me the same price as my car when I bought it originally. $2K for a brand new integra type R trans LSD from Japan. Im sure it was worth it though,

>>16611221
I wouldnt man, and here's my story: First off, it's unrelated to transmissions but, I bought a set of knuckles form the junk hard in order to use the new drive shafts on my CRX. Although they looked perfectly fine, turn out one of them was so bent, it gave me -6 camber while the other one gave me -2. SO that was a big waste of money. Next, I bought a used B16 trans from HMO (who is reputable) they sold me a trans with an exploded diff.
>>
>>16588902

Nice to be in the collage now.

If I didn't live in an appartment building i'd pressure wash mine every couple of days. I've been doing a full carwash when it gets really dirty but man winter sucks for that especially if the pain is blue like your and mine.

You know what I miss too, traction.

Yeah transmissions are a gamble. I didn't want to spend a little on a used one and end up disappointed when it started grinding out of nowhere. $700 for a brand new one built by a reputable company seemed like a fair deal, especially since I have no plans on selling the car.

I'll have had it in my car for a full year on the 14th.

Yeah, that's where I'm going with this too -- I'm going to buy a trans that will hopefully outlive the rest of the car. I won't ever sell it.

It's like getting a major organ transplant, even it won't last forever, but it'll likely let you live long enough to die of something else.

>might pick up that $100 junkyard trans anyway since I'll have a spare B18 sitting around tho. hmmm...

Working on a cash basis here, just going to borrow from the concurrent home remodel budget a bit. No artisangranitetravertineedisonbulbreclaimedwoodfauxfinish toilet seats for a couple more months.
>>
>>16611358
Man they gave me a card with a $3000 limit but I only bought what I needed to keep going. Shit like the trans, tires for both my car and my mom's, etc.

I just have an auto pay for the minimum and keep up with that. I may put a bit of my tax return into it.

Maybe.
>>
>>16611334
honestly man, getting a junkyard trans and rebuilding it doesnt sound like a bad idea...
>>
>>16611379
Buddy that I posted about picked up an EM1 with a bad trans. First, second, third, fourth, AND reverse are all gone. Clutch was so bad he was able to drive it home in fifth. I really want to see what it looks like inside.

>I also want that B16A2 in my hatch

>>
>>16611365
If the interest rate is high, I would at least consider it. If you're still at an introductory low rate (unlikely I guess if it's been a year), maybe not.

>>16611379
There's a few trans shops in my podunk town. It's something I kicked around. But they're not performance shops and probably deal more with domestic vehicles. I guess if I'm going to snag that cheapo trans anyway just to squirrel away, it couldn't hurt to drop it off there and have them give me a bid on rebuilding it and tossing in the LSD. It's not like I absolutely have to have it right now. I'm just getting ancy about being that faggot that never follows thru and am making myself start buying stuff at least.
>>
>>16611408
Yeah the APR is pretty high. My plan is to wait until my mom is making a not shitty income so I don't have to be on standby with my money in case she needs help with anything.

I'd like to pay off the whole thing at once when I get my car the way I want it. It's pretty close. Mechanically, at least.
>>
>>16611445
If month to month cash flow is a concern, then yeah - not a lot of choice than to keep doing what you're doing.

Keep grinding it out.
>>
>>16611474
Yeah I keep the payments on time so it's not too bad. She's waiting on her tax return (which is like five grand, lucky) to get started with her new job. Hope it works out. Tired of paying her portion of the phone bill. kek

Did that bird crack your windshield any? my mom's hyundai got hit by a bird in 2010 and now the crack spread pretty damn big.
>>
>>16611870
Nope no cracks. This windshield is due for a replacement anyway. No line cracks but a chip at the bottom right (when looking from inside the car) and it's broken at the bottom right corner in the black area so I can't even see it anyway. Under certain light though it's pitted pretty bad.
>>
>>16611860
I'm going to run a B20V with a P28 and S300. Going for 220whp for reliability sake. They're nuts, but the stock sleeves are weak.

The VTEC chapter comes later, I'm going to take it to Vermont for that I reckon.

Sounds like with OBD0 the high comp B20B has the same power as stock, so that's nice. 150hp/132tq is what they're rated at.

Integra is showing up tomorrow morning central time at some point, can't wait to see it in a month lol
>>
>>16611854
What engine?
>>
>>16611880
Gonna be sweet. I don't see anyone build up that generation.

I'm gonna be picking up a chipped P28 with a dyno tune for a D16Y8 pretty soon. Met somebody that can set one up for me. My VTEC should finally work then. It was never working the entire time I owned it. My current one is a stock P06 that was for the D15B7. Must have been a throwaway ECU they tossed in.
>>
You guys think I just chip my p75? Chipping allows for better tuneablility right?
>>
>>16611894
I bought a 1999 spec B20B/P75. I was wrong, they make 150hp/140tq stock. I might be fucked to make that on OBD0.

>>16611898
It's worth it, DA9s are sick.

So you haven't had VTEC the whole time having the D16A? lol what the fuck
>>
>>16611909
It's up to you
Yes
>>
>>16611910
Yeah as far as I know the solenoid has just been sitting there doing nothing. That "VTEC" I said I had was just the torque kicking in at around 3500 RPM. I confirmed it when I ran Hondash. It has an indicator saying when it kicks in and nothing happens.
>>
>>16611911
i heard the p75 runs lean for the JDM b20b, im sure it would be a good idea to chip? I recon the motor appears to run lean at the top of the rev range though, idk? Im not the educated in these details.
>>
>>16611909
It'll open up tuning for it, but it would be in best interest to no get a cheap Ebay chip.
>>
>>16611916
kek that blows. Since the D16A is basically a Z6, you'd make a lot more power with VTEC for a D series.
>>
>>16611926
Yeah I can't wait.

I'm pretty sure I'm just a bad driver, but I can only manage an 11 second 0-60. I also hate launching the car so I'm probably not trying hard enough.
